Earn Teaching Spanish

One way to have an alternative income is by tapping into two of the future’s hottest trends as an FM teacher. See why below and see how to learn a special ways to teach increased intelligence and Spanish.

One way to use FM is to teach Spanish.

Fwd: spanish-teachers

Our 2011 Super Thinking FM teachers learning and developing alternate sources of income.

Two points almost everyone agrees on about the future are… first we need to be smarter to keep up with the faster pace of change… and second the world’s economy has and will continue to globalize.

This is one reason why we combined the Super Thinking tactics we teach with learning Spanish.

First, we need to be smarter.  Super Thinking tactics we use help us that and create a new income opportunity.

A Wall Street Journal article entitled “Ways to Inflate Your IQ” says:  Many people think of IQ as a genetic trait, like brown eyes or short legs: You’re born with it and you’re stuck with it. Now, a growing body of research is showing that a person’s IQ can rise—and even fall—over the years.

Scores can change gradually or quickly, after as little as a few weeks of cognitive training, research shows. The increases are usually so incremental that they’re not immediately perceptible to individuals, and the intelligence-boosting effects of cognitive training can fade after a few months.

In the latest study, 33 British students were given IQ tests and brain scans at ages 12 to 16 and again about four years later by researchers at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London; 9% of the students showed a significant change of 15 points or more in IQ scores.

On a scale where 90 to 110 is considered average, one student’s IQ rose 21 points to 128 from 107, lifting the student from the 68th percentile to the 97th compared with others the same age, says Cathy Price, professor of cognitive neuroscience at the center and co-author of the study, published last month in Nature.

Swings in individual IQ scores are often written off as the product of measurement error or a test subject having a bad day. But MRIs in this study showed changes in gray matter in areas corresponding to fluctuations in the kids’ skills, Dr. Price says. Although the sample size is small, the study drew wide attention because it is among the first to show how changes in IQ scores may be reflected in actual shifts in brain structure.

There are practical steps people can take to see longer-term IQ changes. A 30-year study at the National Institute of Mental Health found that people whose work involves complex relationships, setting up elaborate systems or dealing with people or difficult problems, tend to perform better over time on cognitive tests. Test scores of people whose jobs are simple and require little thought actually tend to decline, according to the research, published in 1999 in Psychology and Aging.

New tasks stimulate the brain most. When researchers at the University of Hamburg subjected 20 young adults to one month of intense training in juggling, they found an increase in the corresponding gray matter in the brain as early as seven days after the training began. The added gray matter receded when the training was stopped, although the participants were still able to juggle, says the study, published in 2008 in PLoS One.

IQ tests don’t measure such abilities as creativity, common sense or social sensitivity. They do assess many kinds of knowledge and abilities, including abstract reasoning skills. Rising scores in abstract reasoning are the main reason average IQ scores have been increasing by about three points every decade since the 1930s, based on studies by James Flynn, a professor emeritus of political studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand. That may be partly because children spend nearly twice as many years in school, on average, than children decades ago, says Wendy M. Williams, a professor in the department of human development at Cornell University.

Fluctuations in IQ scores over time underscore the brain-boosting benefits of a complex job, musical training, advanced schooling and new experiences throughout a lifetime.

Music lessons are linked to higher IQ throughout life, according to research by E. Glenn Schellenberg, a psychology professor at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Six years’ lessons lifted children’s IQ scores an average 7.5 points; those gains eroded to two points by college age, says a study published in 2006 in the Journal of Educational Psychology.

FM stands for Frequency Modulation to improve the brain in three ways… one being through the use of music.  So FM Super Thinking tactics, first of all, helps people become smarter.

Second, our FM program teaches Spanish in four days… to prove the power of the technique.

Spanish courses offer a strong income potential because globalization, particularly in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico (due to NAFTA and massive immigration) make it more important to be able to communicate with people from other countries.  Increasingly, the second language U.S. citizens are choosing to learn is Spanish.  Americans and Canadians are studying Spanish in record numbers.  According to Businessweek, for example, more students studying for an MBA in today’s world are choosing to become trilingual by learning English, French, and Spanish.

Moreover, two of the top ten MBA schools outside the U.S. are located in Spain.

There are many other reasons to learn Spanish… about 500 million reasons… the global population who speak Spanish.   About half of the people in  the Western hemisphere speak Spanish, as many people as those who speak English.    Within the USA Spanish is the second language after English—by a wide margin.  According to Wikipedia Spanish is the most commonly spoken language in the world after English, Chinese, and Hindustani.

In the U.S., it is easier to get a job if you speak both Spanish and English.

Having an alternative language can help you have an alternative income.

FM teaching turns your income up and education upside down!  See below how our Spanish teachers earn income but are forbidden to speak Spanish when they teach.  They must teach Spanish in English, but they can teach English to Spanish students as well… in English!

The FM Story

In telecommunications and signal processing, FM stands for frequency modulation that conveys information over a carrier wave by varying its instantaneous frequency.

The educational program Merri and I have developed uses a different form of frequency modulation we like to call “Full Mode” that opens enormous opportunity for expansion, understanding, peacefulness as well as greater wealth.  We are sharing this in depth program with a select few through our new teacher program.

FM teaching uses frequency (in music and a number of other ways) to integrate brain waves so the process of absorbing, processing and recalling information is vastly accelerated.  This brings forth the three C’s:  Calm, Clarity and Coherence.

How the Quantum Learning History Brings Opportunity to You Now:

Our FM programs are not gimmicks or tricks… just advanced education.

Merri and I are explorers. Our business began 44 years ago (May 1968) and we continue to always look for what’s next… trying to stay on or ahead of the leading edge.

This process helped us create the totally unique system we use that incorporates numerous tactics.

The first tactic is to use Baroque music in the learning process. At least three best selling books, “Superlearning”, the “Mozart Effect” and “Superlearning 2000″ have revealed insights about how to learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian educational master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

This one tactic alone is so powerful that Small Business Innovation Research… an official site of the US government granted over $100,000 for the specific purpose they said was: to provide a method to remove barriers which hinder or prevent the employment of blind persons. An innovative method call the Lozanov learning system is proposed to help train blind persons to become computer programers and operators of automated equipment.

Merri was among just a few who learned directly and is licensed in these techniques.

Merri has enhanced this system with numerous other tactics. One is to make slight alterations in nutrition. Altered nutrition can make anyone a person 25% smarter.  These two tactics are given in seven, easy to use learning techniques that help gain any skill, from computers to athletics to conversational languages…  in much less time than traditional learning techniques… often two-to-five times faster, in exciting and innovative ways…but most of all it is a system that is stress free and full of fun.

The third tactic builds on the first two and uses 17 unique lessons to provide a vocabulary of over 4,000 words that brings Spanish fluency in a short time.

Our Quantum Learning System helps in innumerable walks of life.  This is why the second year of our teaching program offers extra opportunity for you now.

Problems Can Create Opportunity

There is a huge and growing problem of accelerating change that requires accelerated learning.  Learning Spanish is just a tiny part of the demand this problem creates.  Expended learning capacity is far more valuable than just being able to speak Spanish.  So we are expanding the FM focus in our business… shifting into overdrive you might say with what we call FM Plus.

FM Plus Frequency Modulation/Full Mode Plus

FM Plus works by focusing on the learner first… the data second.  FM Plus “grows the learner” rather than just expands the information.  The explosion of data we must all process every day means there is too much information to process already.  Let’s view this learning in terms of plumbing to outline what “Growing the Learner”  means.

If you have 4.5 inches of information flowing through a 4 inch learning pipe, the solution is not to add another inch of information.  The answer is to first create a six inch pipe and then an even larger pipe…a never ending expansion of abilities!

FM Plus incorporates Frequency Modulation…  7th degree exploration and Core Revelation (wormholes – universal expansion and shortcuts) to expand the learner’s thinking and information processing ability.

We’ll do this through our FM Plus Process which we have been using in our Super thinking Plus Spanish course. Now we are integrating this process into our International Investing and Business courses as well.  This means we’ll provide this training six times in the US in 2012.

The demand for FM far exceeds the numbers Merri and I can handle in six seminars a year.  Because we don’t have time to do more seminars, we have been adding a teacher training program to replace ourselves.

The teacher training program is described below.  This is our second year. Last year was our initial  Beta program and though we are always learning and teaching we had never trained teachers before. You’ll see some results below.

We accepted 12 trainees in 2011 for our first FX Plus training plan. Now we are accepting 12 more for 2012.  Trainees can attend all the seminars we conduct in 2012.  They are asked to attend at least four of these seminars.  As a teacher you are also a member of our International Club and gain the following benefits.

Benefit #1:  You (and a guest of your choice) can attend all of the seminars we have already set plus any others that we’ll conduct over the year ahead worth a total value of $6,993 or more.

Benefit #2:  As a club member you receive FREE seven reports, email courses and workshops that would cost $1,265 if ordered separately.

The first online course is “Tangled Web – How to Have Your Own Web Based Business”, normally sold at $299.

The second is our online course “Self Fulfilled – How to be a Self Publisher”. which has a $299 value. I am sending you this extra course free as I think it will help you have greater success. You get an extra $299 savings.

The third is our online course “International Business Made EZ” sold at $229.

You also receive fourth the 50 minute video by our webmaster David Cross on “How to Get Your Web Business Started”.

Your fifth course is the 50+ lesson course “How to Create your Own Website Using Sitesell” by Michelle Toole.

We are proud that this course was written by a student of our courses showing how well the 43 years of knowledge that Merri and I have accumulated and put into these programs can help you start your own global micro business.

Sixth, you become a beta member in our newest online course “Event – Full Business – How to have a Seminar and Tour Business” currently offered at $349.

Seventh, you receive our Multi Currency Portfolio service that is normally $79.

June 22-24, 2012 International Investing & Business Made EZ,  Jefferson, NC. ($999)

July 20-22 Writer’s Camp, Blue Ridge North Carolina. ($999)

October 5-7, 2012 International Investing & Business Made EZ,  Jefferson, NC. ($999)

November 16-17-18 Mt. Dora Fl. Course for Two $899.

Plus all the additional seminars, courses and workshops we’ll be announcing which brings the total seminar and course savings to $7,259.

I-Club
International Club members and teachers meeting at our Florida home after a seminar in Mt. Dora.

You save by being a teacher.  $6,993 of seminars and courses for $2,900.  This saves $4,003 … plus there is $1,265 more savings in online courses you also receive free.

However the teacher training is the real value you receive in this program.  You learn at the courses and seminars and we have special trainee sessions during each course that are invaluable.

FX Plus training plan teaches how to teach and how to create your own business simultaneously.  We also teach trainees
how to earn from seminars courses and tours.  See how we have earned as much as $200,000 for a weekend’s work. (Once $135,000 in two days.)

Share our 44 years of Experience

When it comes to having a micro business in online publishing, seminars, courses and tours, there are few people with more experience than Merri and me.  Over 44 years we have organized, marketed and conducted thousands of tours for tens of thousands in dozens and dozens of countries (even behind the Iron Curtain).  This course shares how we have done this… what we did right… what we did wrong… and what you can do better.

We have worked with our first group of teachers since last November and are pleased enough with the results that we are inviting 12 more teachers to begin now to prepare for 2012.

Our goal is for these teachers to work in their own ways and methods.  Some of the current teachers have chosen to teach our Super Thinking Spanish course. To date trainees have taught three Super Thinking + Spanish courses, two in Ecuador and one in the USA with very good results.  Our current plans are for several of the 2011 trainees to conduct regular seminars over the next year.

girka-sterling

Rob Girga (right) and Glenn Sterling (2nd left) replaced Merri and me and taught Super Thinking plus Spanish in Cotacachi, Ecuador this year in the same hotel as a Miss Ecuador pageant.  Here they met with the contestants.

Teachers of our Spanish program do not have to speak Spanish during the course by the way.  In fact even Merri and I prohibit ourselves from speaking Spanish when we teach.  This is because the course uses and FM teacher and a pronunciation coach who must be a native born Spanish speaker.

Picking up pronunciation from an English born speaker is like recording a tape from a previous recording. Quality is lost!  The FM teacher… including Merri and me work in English and work with a pronunciation coach who does all the Spanish speaking.

merri scott

Merri teaching with our pronunciation coach, Don Childs.

Others are teaching their own programs using the tactics they learned to help their own business. For example it is quite easy to reverse the process we use and teach Spanish speakers to communicate in English in just four days.

alberto-verdezoto

Alberto Verdezoto has been our pronunciation coach in Cotacachi, Ecuador for the last 5 years.

Since this is a Beta program it will continue to evolve. We cannot guarantee who we will work with and who won’t.   Becoming a trainee does NOT guarantee that you will become a teacher in our program.  Indications after 10 months are that eight of the 12 trainees in 2011 will be involved in teaching our Super Thinking course but this is no assurance for 2012.

The FM Plus Plan Goes Way Beyond Spanish

Our training will teach you an effective way to teach languages but covers much more many… perhaps all fields of education.

For example.  We teach at the International Business & Investing seminars we conduct a workshop on how FM Plus can be applied to starting and running a business, to forex trading and investing.  Athletes of all types… golfing being one common sport benefit.  The Soviet Union… even though a third world country… excelled in the Olympics… as well as beating the USA into outer space… because it integrated FM teaching tactics as developed by Dr. Georgi Lozanov (one of Merri’s teachers) into its educational system.

Our FX Plus plan goes far beyond Lozanov and allows you to enhance whatever subject you wish to teach.

Couples are priced as one.  Merri and I have worked for 30 years as a couple. Our business would not exist without both of us… so a couple can attend for one fee.

You can enroll with  whomever you wish… your spouse, or business partner, even an adviser.  Two can be trainees for the price of one.  (Accommodations and air fares relating to the courses are not included for trainees, delegates or their guests.)

#1:  The fee is $2,900

New Enrollment. $2,900 .

We hope you’ll join us as a trainee in our FM Plus (Frequency Modulator) training plan and learn how to create extra income in two of the hottest trends ahead.

We Wait for Pain

We do not have to wait for pain as we age.  I’ll explain why in a moment.

First, let me point out that the sentence “We Wait for Pain” shows why learning Spanish may be easier than you think.

costa-rica-spanish-course

Super Thinking + Spanish teacher John Sloan teaching his first course in Costa Rica.

This sentence “We wait for pain” shows one reason Spanish is so easy to learn.  In Spanish there are hardly ever confusing words that sound one way but are spelled another.  Even better there are no words that sound the same but are spelled in a totally different way and have a completely different meanings.   “We wait for pain” could be “Wee Weight Four Pane”.

Spanish is a phonetic language.  There ya go.  Another example.  Even the word phonetic makes no sense phonetically.  This word should be spelled “Fonetic”.  In fact in Spanish it is… “Fonético”.

The phonetic aspect of Spanish is one reason why you can learn Spanish in three days.  See other reasons at Learn Spanish in Three Days.

However there are more important reasons “Beyond Simple” to know Super Thinking + Spanish and why a micro business teaching Spanish offers incredible opportunity “Beyond Money”.

The excerpt below from the New York Times article “Exercising an Aging Brain” by By Denise Grady shows that teaching is an exceptional career “beyond the money” because it slows mental aging!

Here is an excerpt from the article (bolds are mine):  MORE and more retired people are heading back to the nearest classroom — as students and, in some cases, teachers — and they are finding out that school can be lovelier the second time around. Some may be thinking of second careers, but most just want to keep their minds stimulated, learn something new or catch up with a subject they were always curious about but never had time for.

For many, at least part of the motivation is based on widespread reports that exercising the brain may preserve it, forestalling mental decline and maybe even Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

“When you and I are having this conversation, you’re taking notes, thinking, remembering pieces of it, trying to relate it to other things,” said Arthur Toga, a professor of neurology and director of the laboratory of neuroimaging at the University of California, Los Angeles. “You’re changing the circuitry in your brain. That is because you have changed something in your brain to retain that memory.”

Dr. Toga elaborated: “The conversation requires nerve cells in the brain to fire, and when they fire they are using energy. More oxygen and sugar must be delivered, by increased blood flow to those regions.

“Why would that be good? If you are vasodilating, delivering more blood to certain regions of the brain, that is important. It increases the longevity and the health of those circuits. In adults, if I ask you to perform tasks you’ve never done before, the amount of brain it takes for you to try and do it is far greater than the amount of brain it takes for you to do something you’re already good at. So yes, exercising the brain is good.” Playing video games probably qualifies as a type of brain exercise, he said, though older people might not sharpen their skills as fast as younger ones do.

But research continues. Dr. William Jagust, a professor of public health and neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley, said there were two main theories that tried to explain why exercising the brain might make it more resistant to disease.

One is the “cognitive reserve” theory, which says that if the brain is in the best possible shape with extensive neuronal connections from being used a lot, it may be able to withstand the onset of Alzheimer’s disease for a while and symptoms may take longer to develop.

A hallmark of Alzheimer’s is deposits in the brain of an abnormal form of a protein called amyloid.

“A paper we published showed that people who were more cognitively active over their whole life span had less amyloid,” Dr. Jagust said.

“A variety of things is important,” Dr. Toga said. “We try to encourage people to do certain things because it couldn’t hurt and may be good. Retaining lots of social interaction is really important. It involves so much of the brain. You have to interpret facial expressions and understand new concepts. If you want to learn to ride a monocycle or do acrobatics at 75, it’s probably not a good idea. But exercising more geography in the brain, I think that’s important.”

Few activities are as socially interactive as teaching!  This does not mean we should wait until we are old to teach.

The same article also said:   “My interpretation is that people who are more cognitively active have more efficient brains,” Dr. Jagust said. “What seems to happen in aging is that older people seem to have less efficient brains.” A scan of brain activity on a 20-year-old being asked to remember something will show less activity needed than in an 80-year-old asked to perform the same task.

“Older people seem to activate or bring on line brain areas that young people don’t use,” Dr. Jagust said. “They have to work their brains harder. So people who stay cognitively active may use their brains more efficiently.”

That way, they may generate fewer amyloid deposits. But he emphasized that being mentally active throughout life — not just in old age — was what mattered.
“It has to do with lifelong patterns of behavior,” Dr. Jagust said. “We tend to focus on what people do at 75 in terms of dementia. But there is more evidence that what you do in your life, at 40 or 50, is probably more important.”

This era of rapid change makes it harder to earn a good living and enjoy life.  Standardization… globalization and growing population puts stress on so many. We call it the rat race… a never ending struggle where the treadmill continually accelerates.

This stress and the unraveling of the social pact… mean that money… savings… investments… pensions and  Social Security are becoming less and less dependable.   The only real assets are a keen mind, dependable body and an ability to serve.

This is why teaching is such a great way to serve.  In this information era… few things are as valuable as knowledge.  Plus the process provides freedom and helps us remain mentally active.

Whether you learn to teach Super Thinking or not… learn to teach something.   This is a good way to return some of the blessings we have all received and  we gain more than money.   We may gain mental clarity and much more.  One Super Thinking + Spanish teacher who just completed his first course (which allowed him to spend the winter in South America and earn while there) summed up the greatest benefit perfectly when he wrote.

“Although drained and tired yesterday from three days of being “on”, today I feel very buoyant and charged up from the joy and positive feedback I got from the delegates.  Along with their progress from no Spanish to speaking before my very eyes, I can report to you in all honesty the feeling I have being part of their progress is simply intoxicating.  I understand now why you and Merri do what you do very well indeed.”

New Teacher Aid Program.   There is a new way to learn how to speak Spanish in three days FREE as a Teacher’s Aid.  See details here.

Change.  We fear it. We resist it and we can let us ruin our lives. Yet without it… our existence would still be in caves.   As change speeds up we can embrace change and retire from the rat race.  For mental stability… the sooner… may be the better so we do not have to “wait for pain as we age”.  Hoo kneads the weight of waiting inn are thyme???

Learn Spanish in Three Days

Learn Spanish in Three Days ONLINE

The “Learn Spanish in Three Day Course” is now available online.

Learn Spanish in a day, or a week, month or any time frame that works for you.

I’m Gary Scott.  Over fifty years ago I started a business that has helped hundreds of thousands of subscribers learn about investing in Hong Kong (1960s and 1970s), Switzerland, London, Isle of Man (1970s and 1980s) and across Europe.  In the 1990s we took investors to Panama, Mexico and Ecuador.  That’s when we realized an incredible need for an easy way to learn Spanish.

See below how my wife Merri was able to create a program that allowed students to be speaking and understanding Spanish in just three days.

Thousands of subscribers have learned Spanish at our three day Super Spanish course.  These courses have been taught across the US, in Canada, Panama, Mexico, Ecuador, Uruguay and Spain.

spanish

A Super Spanish course in Florida.

Read below to see how and why we are now offering our Super Spanish course ONLINE for the first time.

Speaking Spanish as a second language has huge benefits.

You can become one of the rare North Americans who can get along in Spanish speaking countries.  You can be one of the special people who can communicate with 10 million non-English speakers in the USA.  Spanish is the second most used language in the USA.  There are more Spanish speakers than speakers of Chinese, French, German, Italian, Hawaiian, and the Native American languages combined.  According to the Census Bureau, Spanish is the primary language of nearly 50 million people in the US.  This is the largest Spanish-speaking community outside of Mexico. Only half of these speakers also speak English “very well,” and 19% do not speak English at all.

You become one of a leading few when you speak Spanish.  Yet there are more benefits.

An article in England’s leading newspaper, the Telegraph, entitled “Why learn a foreign language? Benefits of bilingualism” (1) sum up the biggest benefit of learning a second language and increased intelligence.  The article says (bolds are mine): “Learning a foreign language is more than just a boost to your CV or handy for traveling.

It will make you smarter, more decisive and even better at English.

Physiological studies have found that speaking two or more languages is a great asset to the cognitive process.  The brains of bilingual people operate differently than single language speakers, and these differences offer several mental benefits.”

The article then explains studies that show seven cognitive advantages gained from learning a foreign language.

#1:  You become smarter
#2:  You build multitasking skills
#3:  You stave off Alzheimer’s and dementia
#4:  Your memory improves
#5:  You become more perceptive
#6:  Your decision-making skills improve
#7:  You improve your English

Does it sound impossible to learn Spanish in three days?  Yes, it is impossible when you try to learn Spanish in the old, traditional way.

You may choose to take more time using the ONLINE course to learn Spanish, but thousands of our readers have learned to speak Spanish in only three days at our Spanish courses.

There is a scientific method of learning… proven and described in numerous best selling books that create educational jumps by making education natural, easy and fun.   This course works because it is education without stress!

A special method of learning (called Super Learning) was created and refined by the Bulgarian educational master, Georgi Lozanov.   Lozanov transformed the entire Soviet educational system to such a degree that this third world country beat the USA into space.

My wife Merri was lucky to be one of a handful of students outside of Bulgaria who were allowed to be taught this system in the early 1970s.  She practiced this unique and remarkable form of education for  four decades. It was a delight!

Merri and I began integrating these techniques with other shamanic and educational tactics we had gained in our global travels and then applied them to teach Spanish in three days.

The course has been proven again and again by the thousands who have used this system.  You can read a few of the many raves we have received from students who have learned from the Super Thinking Spanish course we created.

Here are a few quotes from delegates of the course.

One delegate from St. Louis wrote:  Hi Gary,  Just ended forty-five years in dentistry last week, and I’m on to a new career.  What is my new career?  Still formulating, but the eye -opening,mind expanding Super-Spanish course last weekend in St. Louis surely shows me the opportunity exists to expand my horizons.

Besides having a lot of nice people to learn our new language; the methods Merri and you developed proved to be just what you said they would be.  We all and I in particular relaxed our way to new learning.  I feel so very comfortable with the basis of my new language skills that I know I will be spitting out great Spanish sentences by the time I reach Ecuador in October.  Last year I spent six weeks in Ecuador and now I plan on conversing with the people.

Today’s excerpt of your newsletter really hit home. You do what you say you will. There are no surprises or hidden sales tricks. The only tricks are beneficial to our learning.  Thank you for a wonderful experience that I was quite unable to grasp how you would pull it off.  You did, however, and I look forward to other courses that you offer, and I have absolutely no doubt they also will work beneficially.  Best regards, Denis Molloy.

Another wrote about the Super Spanish course:   Buenos Dias, here is a testimonial for Super Thinking-Super Spanish.  Please feel free to use all or part in promotions for the course.  In addition, you may give my email address to any prospect “on the fence” about enrolling.  Yesterday, in Cotacachi, Ecuador, I finished Super Spanish.  I had high expectations for the course and they were exceeded.

After three days, I can speak Spanish in complete sentences. In simple conversations, such as buying groceries or ordering a meal, I can make myself understood. I think that’s incredible!

Although I am far from the competence level of a native speaker, I feel I’ve taken a giant step forward in learning Spanish so that I can experience the people and culture of Ecuador.  The foregoing benefits would have more than justified the time and money I invested in Super Spanish.  And learning some Spanish was not the most important benefit I got from the course.

Prior to leaving the USA, I had felt for some time that the pace of life there was unhealthy for me (and for most people) and I did nothing about it.

I’ve thought about the pace issue during the course.  One of the key elements Merri Scott designed into Super Spanish is placing the student in the optimal state for learning.  In class, the past three days, I’ve been re-introduced to guided journeys and introduced to the calming effects of Baroque music (www.sundaybaroque.org).  What a blessing! I’m inclined to make one or both a daily part of my life.   Rob Christi.  Cotacachi, Ecuador

Another attendee from a course wrote:   “I took this incredible class a few weeks ago, and I would like to tell anyone that is interested, that it is an amazing three days of learning with lots of laughs included. You leave everyday wanting to learn more and are so excited to do so.

“Other Spanish classes and tutoring made us feel like it would take forever to get to the point where we could put it into practice, but this method gave us a more fluent use for everyday life almost immediately AND the confidence to use it.  It is a fantastic way to show people how much they know and give confidence to learn and use Spanish creating a momentum.

“They made learning Spanish easy and fun in a very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.  I would definitely recommend this course.  Even if you know some Spanish, this helps make it easier because of the less stress that no verb conjugations gives you.  This gives you more confidence in yourself to try and speak it more.

“The stress free atmosphere and tons of interaction and participation were very conducive to learning.  The relaxation techniques alone are worth the price.  The fact that I can now feel more comfortable conversing in Spanish with my new friends and neighbors is priceless.  Muchas, muchas gracias.”

“I loved the relaxed environment.  I picked up quite a lot of new vocabulary.  I found this course very informative about how the language works, how I can make sentences and understand others better!  Muchas Gracias!  I had a call from Telcel (the local phone company) after our second class and I was able to speak and understand them for the first time. Despacio (meaning slowly) … a great word!  Everyone should take this course before they pick up bad habits.”

“I liked how simply the course was organized and the positive attitude about learning.  Thank you so much for helping me to learn Spanish!”

“I liked the laid back yet professional approach.  I highly recommend this new, relaxing method of learning Spanish,  I feel a lot more confident in the delivery of my words and sentences. It was taught in an excellent and very professional way.

“It was a very enjoyable class.”

How The Course Works

The first tactic is to use Baroque music to create Relaxed Concentration in the learning process.  At least three best selling books, “Superlearning”, the “Mozart Effect” and “Superlearning 2000” have revealed insights about how to learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian educational master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

Merri was among just a few who learned directly from Lozanov.

Super Spanish relaxed concentration session.

You gain six valuable ONLINE Relaxed Concentration sessions in the online course that is delivered via the internet.

The second tactic uses 17 unique lessons to provide Spanish fluency in a short time.   Let me prove to you how this tactic works by teaching you hundreds of Spanish words in less than 30 seconds.

Here is the proof.

“Most words in English that end in ION are almost identical, just pronounced differently.  For example action is accion, education-educacion, manipulation- manipulacion, etc.”

There you have it.  How long did it take you to read the sentence?  You now know hundreds of Spanish words that you will never forget.

See examples of the words you already know below.

How long would have taken you to memorize all those words?  How soon would you have forgotten them?

This is just one of seventeen Spanish lessons in the course.

The next lesson teaches how to pronounce each of the nouns.

Then, the third lesson teaches almost as many verbs, almost as quickly.

The fourth lesson shows how to avoid conjugating verbs by sticking with the infinitive (far easier than it sounds).  This simple lesson leaves a person sounding like a Spanish professor without ever conjugating a verb.

Lesson five shows how to sound infinitely polite and yet get almost anything desired in Spanish.

Lesson six gives valuable connectors and the seventh lesson triples the Spanish capacity with three words for “yesterday,” “now” and “tomorrow”.

By the end of three days you feel comfortable speaking Spanish.

Plus the system is Impro-Dynamic.  This means your Spanish keeps getting better even though you do not seem to be studying… practicing… or speaking Spanish.

I was amazed by this as I traveled back and forth from the USA to Ecuador.  The longer I was away from Ecuador… the better my Spanish became.  My second language was automatically improving The self improving feature comes because you learn to create Spanish sentences rather than remember them.  The portion of the brain that creates is more powerful than the portion that recalls.  When your mind creates something… it owns it!  You do not have to remember .

During the course you learn 4005 Spanish words that you already know.   This eliminates the need to memorize 99% of Spanish words.

You then learn how to create Spanish sentences from these words.

Throughout the course you learn how to pronounce the sentences you create.

When the course ends… the mind keeps working… and creating… so next time you begin to speak Spanish you’ll be surprised .  You improve even though you have not actively worked on your lingual skill.

Due to the difficulty of getting groups together to learn this valuable technique, we created an online program for subscribers to use the Super Spanish course at home.   The normal three day course fee is $499 ($749 for a couple).

The ONLINE course is available at the highly reduced price of $79.

I’ll be in touch personally via email with each person who signs up for this course to see how it works or what is required to make it better.  Once this test is complete, we plan to offer the program on a larger scale and at a much higher price.

Maggie wrote: It didn’t really seem possible that we would be speaking and understanding Spanish in only 3 days but the course made it happen in a very supportive learning environment.  I would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to learn “practical Spanish”.  The teaching methods, use of relaxation, the use of native Spanish speakers for pronunciation and the teachers themselves who were approachable and helpful and always positive made this a very valuable class.

This course improved my self confidence in my ability to learn and retain a language.  It was presented with genuine enthusiasm, great energy and the style of learning is very effective. Gracias!  It was a great experience.

Nadine wrote: “Just spent the last 3 days in the most wonderful learning environment learning Spanish.  What an amazing learning experience!!  First day out of class and I could not stop thinking in Spanish WOW!!  I am amazed by how much I learned, retained and how much more is showing up now that I am out of class.  And the best part is THERE WAS NO STUDYING!! Indeed this is Super Thinking!!!  I would highly recommend this to anyone that has ever had a desire to learn another language or learn anything in record time.

And a few days after that ….  As I went through my day, just hanging out with my son, I could see myself starting to think in Spanish.  At first I thought it was amusing but as it continued and increased I thought “My goodness this is really remarkable amazing” It was really an effortless unfolding.  I wasn’t at any point “trying” to think in Spanish, just words I knew would fly across the screen in my mind.  And then this afternoon, my son cuddled up on the couch to watch some cartoons on his ipad and was watching Peppa Pig in Spanish…hmm coincidence?  I think not, I’m radiating Spanish so much that my son is being influenced!  Thanks a million again.  This weekend the best learning experience of my life!!

If you have ever had a desire to learn Spanish this is the way to do it!  By the end of the first day I had more confidence and more practical ability than I had from any previous courses I had taken.  It was fun and relaxed and full of laughter.  You will leave this class excited to use what you have learned.  Rather than leaving overwhelmed with how much you have yet to learn and master, you are equipped with the knowledge and know how to go out and communicate as well as the excitement to do it!”

Gary noted:  “The whole approach is positive and conducive to learning at a level that benefits ALL participants.  It is not intimidating and does not set up a pass/fail atmosphere.  The presenters are terrific and the results unbelievable.  It was relaxed, informal, friendly and effective.”

Twila said:  “This class provided a very refreshing and relaxed way of learning.  The atmosphere felt very safe to say the words you were practicing.  I learned a lot in a way that will make it easy to apply.  Starting with conversation is way more fun.  How quickly you can learn!  It was a great group, great instructors and great stories.

The atmosphere in the classroom was so relaxed that learning Spanish felt like a breeze and not like a painful task.  The relaxation exercises are really conducive to language learning.  We learned A LOT in a short time and it was fun and the environment was non-threatening.”

Brigitte sent this:  “Buenos Dias, Suzanne. su clase de espanol es excelente! Muchas Gracias!
I have already done what you suggested and went into the program listening to the music and going over the lessons.  I know: Repetition……reinforcement…..thinking in the new language….it’s all part of it.  I loved your course and will certainly recommend it to friends.  Who knows….I might feel the urge and have the opportunity to repeat it at your beautiful place in Puerto Aventuras…..Quien sabe? Hasta otro dia y saludos a su familia.”

Marie wrote:  “I would highly recommend this course.  The amount covered in 3 days is amazing!  All with no stress.  The correlation lessons and pronunciation practice has greatly reduced my anxiety to go out and use my Spanish.  I really enjoyed the whole process and thank you for the take away tools.”

Learn Super Thinking + Spanish in Canada & Mexico

Now you can learn Super Thinking + Spanish in three days in Canada and Mexico!

At our last Super Thinking plus Spanish class two of our Canadian teachers presented the course as we announced their launch into Vancouver and Toronto. See the Spring schedule below.

Super Thinking teachers, Shawn and Suzanne Bandick, in Mexico and B.C.

At the class I read parts of a Livescience.com article about the importance of becoming multi lingual and how the CIA is hiring people with two languages.

This Livescience article helps explain why this course works and how delegates are creating Spanish sentences by the first lunch break and can communicate well in Spanish after just three days.

The March 9 2011 article by Jeremy Hsu, LiveScience Senior Writer, is entitled “CIA Seeks Anyone, Anyone Who Can Speak 2 Languages”

Four important points in the article are shown in excerpts below with my comments to show what has been wrong with traditional Spanish courses and why the Super Thinking tactic is perfect for this program.

The article begins: WASHINGTON, D.C. — Many Americans don’t learn a second or a third language from birth, let alone a language that the CIA or U.S. Foreign Service might want. The situation has forced U.S. government agencies to learn how to cultivate the most talented second-language speakers from among college students with little to no other-language expertise.

“In U.S. education, we don’t develop early bilinguals,” said Catherine Doughty, a language expert at the University of Maryland.

Doughty spoke as part of a panel on Feb. 19 during the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference in Washington, D.C.

She and other speakers described the typical U.S. second-language program as being a series of disjointed classes where students often repeated what they had learned before.

“Imagine math [programs] where the middle school says, ‘We don’t have any idea about what you studied,’ so you learn it again. It’s the same with high school,” said Robert O. Slater, director of the U.S. National Security Education Program.

MY COMMENT. This is why traditional Spanish courses often do not work.  They create two obstacles up front… memorization of conjugation and vocabulary. Super Thinking + Spanish avoids both these obstacles.

The article continues:   Finding the best

Government agencies aren’t alone in trying to recruit multilingual speakers; U.S. corporations covet such skills for doing business in the era of globalization.

MY COMMENT:  This is why speaking Spanish adds value to each of us as a person.   We become especially useful in an increasingly global multi lingual society.

The article explained how Doughty and her colleagues used tests to train up cognitive processes related to language learning, such as the ability to hold information in the brain while using it for learning.  The tests sought to predict those who can succeed despite everything stacked against them.

The article reviewed changes in the brain.  Lee Osterhout is a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Washington in Seattle.  His lab used electrodes placed on the scalp to measure the electrical activity created by the signals of brain cells. That allowed the researchers to see differences in the brain patterns among language learners and fluent speakers. They found some surprising results.

The article pointed out: Repeated studies of French language students showed that their brains responded differently to real French words compared with fake words after just two weeks of classes, even if the students themselves could not tell such words apart.

“From knowing nothing to a little bit, [there are] huge changes in the brain,” Osterhout pointed out.”[From] knowing a little to knowing a lot, [it is] much more subtle.”

MY COMMENT: This is why Super Thinking + Spanish works so well.   The three day course focus entirely on making the huge change and ignores the subtle. From there the perfection and subtle change. The three day course prepares the learner to speak Spanish immediately and then make the subtle changes in their day to day life.

The article also said:  Another surprise came from studies of Spanish-speaking immigrants, because neither age nor language proficiency seemed to predict how quickly the immigrants picked up English. Instead, the fastest learners showed both the greatest motivation to learn and a willingness to use English at every opportunity despite being bad at it (at first).

MY COMMENT: This is the other reason why Super Thinking plus Spanish works. This three day course gets the delegates speaking and thinking Spanish all the time so they can use and/or think Spanish every day… and not badly even from the beginning. In this way the education grows even when Spanish is not being spoken.

The Super Thinking course first integrates the brain.  Students learn better with relaxed concentration. Then the course teaches them 17 simple lessons so they know 4005 words in Spanish and can use them to create sentences. In this way, you can learn Spanish in just three days.

Learn how to speak Spanish in just three days using Frequency Modulation

Today the key to success is the ability to keep up with change.

This is why we are increasing our focus on super thinking through frequency modulation.  We need to be smarter to adapt to faster change and frequency modulation can help us absorb… retain and recall information better and faster.  We prove this in our Super Thinking + Spanish course which teaches delegates to communicate on Spanish in just three days.

Delegates at a 2012 Mt. Dora Super Thinking + Spanish course… a Doctor attendee wrote:  Merri

We want to thank you and Gary plus all the others for making the class such a fun and rewarding experience.   I took Spanish as an undergraduate and lasted two days before dropping the class due to my own anxieties.  Over the years I have tried to learn French, Italian, and Spanish yet again using a variety of methods such as Rosetta Stone, Berlitz etc. and was never successful.  I finally feel like I can be successful at learning to converse at Spanish–in fact already feel successful!  Thanks so much for teaching an old dog some new tricks.  We’re both looking forward to continuing the learning process, having fun doing so, and taking more classes.

Our Super Thinking + Spanish courses are Spanish course that goes way beyond just learning to speak Spanish.

See how after just one weekend a delegate became an accidental Spanish translator.

There is a way to learn Spanish that enhances health and wealth. I call it Super thinking + Spanish and it was created by Merri using three secrets gained from years in language schools followed by 43 years of  living around the world.

Creativity, humanitarianism and prosperity come in many forms, but all of them require three things, understanding, communications and inspiration.

Here are shots of delegates at a Super Thinking Plus Spanish course in Mt. Dora, Florida.

Spanish is the second largest language in the world. Chances are a huge Spanish speaking population lives near you. Yet our language system did not teach us how to communicate with or understand this culture.

Learning Spanish is valuable and important.  Now there is way, to enjoy a long weekend as you learn Spanish at a very affordable price.

rick-brown-spanish-teacher

Toronto teacher Rick Brown

To learn from Super Thinking is fun!  In three days you solve one of the biggest communications problems that faces a great deal of the English speaking civilization.

The course has two or three instructors.  Each Super Thinking Plus Spanish course has at least two teachers… one teaching the Super Thinking science and one native Spanish speaker… sometimes two teach the Spanish.

Unlock the power of your untapped knowledge.

There are numerous little known, but scientifically proven ways to enhance the speed, accuracy and efficiency of your decision making process for greater wealth, health and happiness. In just three days you can gain almost amazing learning skills.  Plus you become skilled in Spanish as a bonus.

In just three days?

Sound too good to be true?

This is not a gimmick nor a trick. At least three best selling books, Superlearning, the Mozart Effect and Superlearning 2000 have revealed insights about how we can learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

In 1980 Superlearning sold over two million copies and showed how the Lozanov learning system blended long-tested sciences of yoga with contemporary physiology and psychology so people could learn faster and better.

This book exposed this fact and made the system so popular that Dr. Lozanov was allowed to visit the US from Bulgaria to teach this system to just a very few people so they could pass on this vital information on how to learn and think in a more natural, powerful way so we can enjoy life and enhanced memory more.

Merri was among those few who learned how and is licensed to teach the Lozanov system from this Bulgarian master. She has organized a practical course on how to learn faster and better.

With her modified system, you will learn how to think and learn more powerfully in just three days. To prove how good you will be with this process, you learn Spanish as a side benefit.

The learning system you gain expands on Dr. Lozanov’s original work and offers new insights into tapping human potential, drawing from ancient and modern tactics for quick learning such as subliminal memory, music, nutrition, and productivity.

There are three scientific reasons why this course will change your learning capacity forever (and help you speak Spanish in just four days).

This seminar uses frequency modulation (in music and a number of other ways) to integrate brain waves so the process of absorbing, processing and recalling information is vastly accelerated.  This brings forth the three C’s:  Calm, Clarity and Coherence.

FM Plus Frequency Modulation/Full Mode Plus

FM Plus works by focusing on the learner first… the data second.  FM Plus “grows the learner” rather than just expands the information.  The explosion of data we must all process everyday means there is too much information to process already.

FM Plus incorporates Frequency Modulation…  plus shortcuts to expand the learner’s thinking and information processing ability.

First you learn how to evoke the power of the senses thus super-charging memory. Ever hear a song from twenty, thirty or forty years past and in a snap know all the words, the tune and remember with who and where your heard it decades ago? Learn how to use ten cycle music to gain almost super human thinking powers.

Dr. Lozanov was totally committed to learning without stress, to enjoy the thrill of relaxed, leisurely learning. These are just two, whole learning, super-thinking tactics you gain at this course.

What is your desire? Do you want to speak Spanish, French, German, Chinese or any language? Would you like to golf better or accomplish more in school? Would you like to easily, quickly zip through projects, chores, reports? Merri’s “Super Thinking” course can help you learn any subject two-to-five times faster, in exciting and innovative ways.

The techniques you gain will help unlock the quantum potential we all possess. This evolutionary program shows how certain types of music can enhance learning and how even altered nutrition can make you a startling 25 percent smarter, how subliminal messages can increase your energy and thinking process, plus much, much more.

Merri’s system follows and builds upon what was taught in the Superlearning, the Mozart Effect and Superlearning 2000 books plus includes techniques and strategies that she has gained in her 42 years of global travel and study with educational masters around the world.

This is a course that shows you how to increase your mental power to better succeed in the 21st century when we can otherwise be overwhelmed by information.

The system you gain is built from old and new sources ranging from yoga to contemporary Russian science, and ultimate zone training already used by many Olympic champions.

“Super Thinking plus Spanish” presents new ways to use music to supercharge your mind. The knowledge you gain about smart food and super nutrition allows you to enhance productivity and creativity.

The tactics you gain enhance your ability to absorb… retain and recall information.

Once these concepts of enhancing your mental powers with music are understood, you will know how to create your own program and build new skills at work in study and play.

Second you gain seventeen, easy to use learning techniques that can help you gain any romantic language in much less time than traditional learning techniques.

Why Spanish?

Spanish is the third  most spoken language in the world. Chances are a huge Spanish speaking population lives south of and around you. Yet our North American language system did not teach us how to communicate with or understand this culture. We can all do with a bit of Spanish.

Yet who has the time?

You do! Fluency in a language is considered to come when you know 1,200 words. To prove that it is possible to gain this and much more, let me share just one of the 17 tactics Merri taught me that gives you thousands of Spanish words in less than three minutes

Here are the thousands of Spanish words lesson #1:

All words in Spanish and English that end in ION are almost identical,  just pronounced differently. For example action is accion, education educacion, manipulation, manipulacion, etc.

Now you already literally know hundreds of Spanish nouns. This is just one of seventeen Spanish lessons you gain. The next lesson teaches you how to pronounce each of these nouns. Then you learn in a third lesson almost as many verbs, almost as quickly.

Third, you learn how to avoid conjugating verbs by sticking with the infinitive (far easier than it sounds). This simple lesson leaves you sounding like a Spanish professor (believe me I know as I use this tactic every day when in Ecuador)

There are many other lessons. For example lesson five shows how to sound infinitely polite and yet get almost anything you want in Spanish. Lesson six gives you the valuable connectors and the seventh lesson triples your Spanish capacity with yesterday, now and tomorrow.

By the end of the three day course you will feel quite comfortable speaking Spanish without stress!

Yet your Spanish will just be one result from learning how to think better!  You will be able to use your new learning powers in amazing ways. For example this attendee at our last course wrote:

“Hi Gary & Merri, You two are the BEST!!! Your Seminar was fantastic! I am so excited. I had procrastinated fulfilling my continuing education for my Broker’s License and then just before my surgeries, I realized by expiration date isn’t Nov. 12th – it is Sept 12th. Well, as you can see prior to taking your course I had only completed 3 units of the required 45 units. I thought I would take your course and then complete my remaining 42 units over the next 2 weeks. However, I took one class exam on Saturday night, August 27th. I didn’t even take the cellophane off the required Course manuals until after I saw the two of you today less than 5 hours ago! I used your techniques and completed 39 units of continuing education today. I have now completed all 45 units. All of my test scores were in the 90.6-96% range. My course exam information is listed below. I just wanted to let you know how valuable your course was to me. Thanks again!” Suzy Kurinsky

Gary

Here are what delegates wrote about  a recent Super Thinking + Spanish seminar. Hi Gary & Merri –  First, Merri, thanks for the great home made chili dinner. It was some of the best I have ever tasted. Also, thanks for the Spanish course. Merri’s technique is truly a breakthrough in learning.  I believe I learned more Spanish in four days than I learned in four weeks in a previously attended Costa Rica language school.  The Costa Rica school taught a very limited number of memorized words and phrases. Ted.

Another delegate at a Super thinking plus Spanish seminar wrote: Merri’s approach exposed us to a broad variety of works and the technique needed to expand the language.  Again, Thanks for the experience.

One attendee wrote: Thank you very much Gary! And I just wanted to say thank you and Merri so much for everything during the seminar. You guys are indeed a shining example of having a business that truly serves others. And thanks for the extra time spent and good things taught to me personally. I have begun to implement them already and will continue to apply them. And you might be interested that waiting for my flight home I ended up sitting next to a woman from Quito and could understand some of what she said in a cell phone conversation. We talked a little and she said that I should visit Ecuador!  Thank you again for your real graciousness and acceptance! I will also write to Merri and thank her as well. And I wish that I could do something for you two!

Another wrote: Thank you!  We  always look forward to spending time and learning about so many fascinating things. Like Minded people and Vivaldi! What could be better?  You and Merri are very special to us!

Another sent this note: Hello Merri,  Thank you for the wonderful workshop on Super Learning + Spanish!  I really enjoyed the workshop and getting to know you and Gary.  I am definitely going to take more of the courses that you and Gary are teaching.  I can see several ways to apply what I learned in the classes I teach.

Since I returned home, I have purchased some of the CDs of Baroque music and thought about which specific pieces will work best in different parts of my classes.  I am also reading Perfect Health by Deepak Chopra.  I found your discussion of this book to be very helpful in showing how to balance one’s life.  I have adjusted my daily schedule, and I can already notice a difference in my productivity.

Thank you for sending the file of the 4005 Spanish words.  This will be very helpful in my daily review of Spanish.

Another emailed this: Every day I’m becoming more proficient in Spanish.  As I get ready to do something, I think about how I would say it in Spanish.  Thank you again for a Super Workshop!  With love and blessings.

Another: Gary and Merri,  It certainly was an interesting and intriguing four days for me.  I enjoyed the Spanish but even more so, all the tentacles that extended during those four days that went into so many different directions.

I grew up in a very SQUARE box with loving  and intelligent parents but my world remained within this box, unable to see beyond those walls, as I was never encouraged to “think outside the box”..  Mike has been opening doors and leading me outside this box but because of my upbringing I have not completely embraced or understood what was beyond those doors he opened for me.  As I have gotten older I have become more open to the world outside those doors yet those old tapes continue to play and I have not been able to completely release myself and experience all that can be.

Another shared this: Listening to the two of you during our time together has suddenly got me to thinking, and although some of the ideas still seem foreign to me,  I am at a point in my life now where I can say, “anything is possible” and I am now willing to embrace and allow myself to experience the world of possibility and let it take me in directions I may have in the past resisted.  I really don’t know where all this is going to lead me but I am now willing to explore, develop and grow.

I found all the information you offered on healing, realigning the body, nutrition, etc. so fascinating, have you ever thought about doing a course on just that?  With the aging population and the health care issues I think it would be not only an interesting course but one that would be very beneficial to so many.  I, personally, would love to learn more about what you talked about and plan on purchasing the book, “Body Renewal, the Lost Art of Self Healing” for my Kindle.

Thank you again for a wonderful four days!!

Another: Hola Merri Y Gary, I was thinking about you this Remembrance Day, and I went to check emails and there you are!  We had fun at Disney World on Monday and sat beside several Personnes Espaniol.  We could understand them however I couldn’t make sentences quickly, but could say one or two word phrases that were understood.  We arrived home at 3am yesterday – the airlines were very late in Denver due to a crew incident.

I found myself making up sentences all day yesterday as I was running errands.  John knows more vocabulary than I at this point as he has studied Spanish previously.  Today I will begin to review the lessons and construct sentences to send to you and the group – as you suggested below.  Es en BUENO sugestion!!!  I also received the email Merri sent with the 4005 words and started to scroll through those yesterday.

Another: Thank YOU Merri, Gary, Don and Richard for everything you have done to create and bring this wonderful experience to all of us.  It takes a well sychronized team of people to put on an effective, change producing seminar!  I have given many seminars and enjoyed the experience immensely.  The outcome is even better!  Estoy une infantil de Super Thinking and Spanish, y es possible aprender en tiempo.

John and I both thank all of you for the wonderful experience – we are working now to clear up things so we can leave for the Galapagos and Ecuador November 25th – December 20th.  Nosotros tiene muchos appreciacion!  Gracias y Abrazos,

Another:
Hello Gary,  Muchas gracias para la informacion!  I had a wonderful time at the Super Learning + Spanish weekend!… excelente!

I was impressed with your depth of knowledge on numerous subjects and your ability to speak about them with exceptional recall.  Con mucho apriciar,  P.S. Yo estoy enteresado en Espanol #2.

One delegate even explained how after our course they ended up as the accidental translator: Gary,  I have sent Merri a couple of messages, and  a story of Mike being able to translate yesterday for a Spanish person  who couldn’t understand what a man was trying to tell him!

We loved the seminar, and are excited to put the super learning to practice, and especially the great company of like-minded people (especially G & M!)  Muchas Gracias!  Tiene an excellante dias.

Another was able to write part of his thanks in Spanish. Gary Thanks so much for sending the course and the extra one ( that was an unexpected and delightful surprise!)  It was great seeing you and Merri again and we are looking forward to returning to Mt. Dora next year.  usted y Meri tengo un fantastico celabracion de la dar gracia y navidad

Finally another…. communicated entirely in Spanish…. after just our Super Thinking + Spanish seminar: Buenas dias nuestra maestra perfectamente, Merri!   Muchas gracias por la lista espanol.

Claro, David y yo aprendemous mucho espanol el fine de semana pasada. Gary y usted nos hacen espanol muy facil aprender. Es importante continuar a practicar espanol cada dia. Gracias tambien!  Buenas suerte…hasta la vista! Con mucho amor,

Comments from another delegate: I wanted you to know that the Spanish course has proven incredibly helpful. Dealing with internet service providers and shopping for appliances, etc., normally would have required me hiring a translator to follow me around. While it may not be pretty or 100% grammatically correct, I am understood. Thank you!  Saludos!

Whether your goal is to reduce your cost of living… increase your income… enhance the return on your investments or all, being able to speak Spanish… enhances your opportunity and does the world good.

Lose Weight and Inches With Frequency Modulation

See an example from a Super Thinking + Spanish delegate who lost 55 pounds after taking our course.   See how Jim Reed used our Super Thinking + Spanish course to enhance his health and wealth as well as speak Spanish.

The ability to speak Spanish… even if you never leave the US is valuable in this day and age.   Spanish opens access to a good labor force and helps you communicate with a useful part of the American population.

Beyond Spanish… knowledge is bliss. Ignorance is dangerous in these times of rapid change.  The more knowledge we can absorb, retain and recall… the better our chances of success… higher income… less stress…. better health and more fulfillment.

So it’s little wonder that the attendance at our Super Thinking + Spanish and Quantum Wealth courses have grown dramatically.   Our changing world not only reinforces the need to speak Spanish but also requires us to be smarter.

Super Thinking plus Spanish courses are among the few I know that not only share valuable information but help the delegates become smarter so they absorb, retain and recall the education more effectively.  The course does this through the power of music… a power we all already have within. Let’s see some examples.   Meet Jim Reed.

Ecuador-weight-loss as:

Jim is a retired airline pilot who moved to Ecuador a year ago and lived in our Casa Blanca condos for a year.  He has become an Ecuador resident and is built a house.   I interviewed him on one of our trips to Cotacachi.

Like so many others I have spoken with who have attended our Super Thinking + Spanish course… he claims to be much happier… more relaxed and has become healthier, shedding medication and weight.

Jim lost 55 pounds in the last year and, as reported by so many… without trying… without eating less… without any feeling of deprivation.

One fact that many who enjoyed wonderful positive changes when they have attended our Super Thinking course is they learned to use music in a very specific way to reach the quantum states of their intellect.

Music carries universal messages of emotion that go beyond cultural distinctions and learned experience.

A March 2009 report by World Science entitled “Language of music may really be universal”  says:  Native Africans who have never listened to the radio before can nonetheless pick up on happy, sad, and fearful emotions in Western music, according to a new report. The result shows that the expression of those three basic emotions in music can be universally recognized, the researchers said. Studies found that both Western and Mafia listeners, who had never before heard Western music, could recognize emotional expressions of happiness, sadness, and fear in the music more often than would be expected by chance.

“These emotional expressions conveyed by the Western musical excerpts can be universally recognized,” the researchers wrote, “similar to the largely universal recognition of human emotional facial expression and emotional prosody.” Prosody refers to the rhythm, stress, and intonation of connected speech.

A three minute example of this human connection is the song “Don’t Worry Be Happy” where 10-time Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin’s uses audiences to prove the chart-topper. This song is one of the most popular songs of the late 20th century.

A video of this states: Music is just “in there”…hard wired… in our being and just needs tapping into.

This is why Super Thinking works…  the course goes beyond teaching and taps into wisdom and intelligence that is already WITHIN!

As the speed of change increases… so to does our need for knowledge and the ability absorb, retain, recall and use what we learn in effective ways.

Here are more raves from delegates of this course:

Gary & Merri, Mike and I have so enjoyed attending your seminars.  I look at is as a place to gain  “tools for life” as well as  receiving a plethera of information on the topics at hand.

(So far we attended  Spanish and investing.) I get equally as much value out of the tools, and mindset in viewing the information that can be applied to life in general as well as the topic at hand. So thanks for enjoying what you do… it definitely shows up in real world application.

At each seminar we meet many interesting and unique folk – I think the audience you draw  can think out of the box at least a little bit! So again thanks for gathering such a wonderful array of resources for us.

Another emailed:  Dear Gary and Merrie,  We so enjoyed the language class last weekend at Mt Dora!

Carolyn came back with your simple, common sense approach and the new tools to start speaking.

Most remarkable is that she feels comfortable putting together sentences and ‘communicating.’ Somehow many of us seem to get caught in the trap of thinking we have to say it ‘right,’ and so we don’t even try. It is interesting that we do not see ourselves ‘creating’ communication in our native tongue; each saying it a little different than the other, and yet still all getting the ‘communication’ across the bridge in our own manner.

We delighted to know you both better, and greatly admire your passion for life and generosity sharing what you have learned.

We are planning to attend the next business seminar you offer. Carolyn is talking about returning for the Fall Spanish Super Thinking class with a girlfriend.

We are excited by the many new challenges we have found through your offerings.

Another a dentist said: I was so delighted with my experience at the Spanish training.  I felt more confident of ability to pronounce Spanish than I ever was of French or German.  Funny… I did not think I remembered any French or German but when I cannot remember the Spanish words the German and French popped up.  Practicing my pronunciation made my trip home go faster. I never enjoyed pronouncing either of the other two, but this was fun. It is hard to fall asleep at the wheel when you are moving your mouth to speak Spanish. It does work your mouth in a different way.  I realized that you have to say each syllable slowly and correctly(until you get it perfectly) and when you do it is impressive.

It was amazing to see us all writing such advanced sentences after a few days and so much more enjoyable than having to go through the alphabet to build the words to build the sentences.

Another Wrote: Dear Gary,  I intended to give it a few days before I wrote to you about my experience in the Spanish + SuperThinking  Course. However, I had such dramatic results today, in the physical rather than the cognitive realm, that I had to share this immediately.

I started my day with Baroque music. Before I began my Spanish lesson, I went through the Mayan Waves Brain Refresher (Brain Sync). I also played an alpha wave composition while I completed a lesson in the morning. I repeated the process this afternoon. Before my high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout in the evening, I put on a gamma brain wave video from you tube faster reading gamma waves help with exercise. I preformed the “Halo Of Sweat” workout from an online fitness site. Around the world, people complete the workout and posts their scores, striving to meet or beat the personal trainer. Frankly, my reps have rarely come close to the reps of the woman featured in the video nor have I ever beat her. Until today.

Not only did I come close to her performance, I surpassed her quite significantly with several exercises. I performed my best in the last exercise, Abs Burn Out. Her scores were 38, 34 and 33 and mine were 60, 40 and 47!

I believe several factors allowed me to achieve this acceleration in athletic ability today:

1. My left and right hemispheres are now harmonizing.
2. The meditation and relaxed concentration techniques I learned are coming more easily to me and effective.
3. My focus and concentration are greatly enhanced.

I am a Pilates professional so to have my exercise regimen improve so swiftly is remarkable. Not only am I now able speak Spanish but I am experiencing optimal health as well. I am deeply grateful to you and Merri for your SuperLearning instruction.  Be well,

Seven Incredibly Simple Yet Astoundingly Powerful Words

Here are seven incredibly simple, yet astoundingly powerful words that can help you become a more successful writer, publisher, investor or business person….

#1: W – Drink water!  Staying hydrated and drinking enough water increases memory, as well. It has been said that drinking one eight-ounce glass of water 30 minutes before taking a test can increase a test score by one letter grade.

Water plays an extremely important role in in many parts of the brain that draw energy from water. Nerve transmission is heavily dependent upon water.

Small waterways, or micro-streams run along nerves and float the neurotransmitters along microtubules to the nerve endings.

Nerve transmission is compromised by dehydration and and brain function strongly diminished.  This is one reason why the mind seems foggy when a person is hung over.  Excessive alcohol causes dehydration.

#2: E – Expand thyself.  Know thyself and expand on how you learn.  Determine what type of learner you are. The website school.familyeducation.com/intelligence/teaching-methods says:  “Approximately 20 to 30% of the school-aged population remembers what is heard.  40%  recalls well visually the things that are seen or read.  Many must write or use their fingers in some manipulative way to help them remember basic facts.  Other people cannot internalize information or skills unless they use them in real-life activities such as actually writing a letter to learn the correct format.”

Obtaining information presented in a variety of ways is important because we each have our own learning style, a particular way in which our mind receives and processes information.

Our learning styles are part of our personal characteristics, and this directs the way we most effectively learn, change, and grow throughout our lives.

Visual learners absorb the most of information that is written out.

An auditory learner picks up data best when it is spoken.

Tactile/kinesthetic learners learn best by touching, feeling, and moving. They like to be active and involved and play games, and they enjoy doing activities with their hands. (They may become distracted by activity around them.)

I have seen varying statistics which show that anywhere from 40 to 65%  of the population are visual learners, 30 to 40% are auditory learners, and 5 to 20% are tactile learners.

Use your best approach to learning but expand. Be a multi sensory learner.  Some educators say “We learn… 10 percent of what we read, 20 percent of what we hear, 30 percent of what we see, 50 percent of what we see and hear, 70 percent of what we discuss with others, 80 percent of what we experience, and 95 percent of what we teach to someone.”

Try alternatives to reading.  If you read a book, read some of it out loud, discuss it with others in person or on an online forum.   Implement what you read in day-to-day activity. Teach concepts that you read  to someone else. Listen to what you read.

Absorbing information and processing information are distinct cognitive steps: one must first obtain (absorb) information before one can do something with it (process it). Similar to baking a cake, the baker must put all of the ingredients into the bowl before he or she can mix them together.

Supplement what you read because memory retention is based on pressure.

We remember what has really made an imprint. Emotion also enhances memory. We learn a lot when we teach others. This often creates pressure not to appear foolish.  We are on the spot!

Create Pressure.  Discuss what you learn with others.  Experience the material in real-time action. Teach others.

Learning Principles are more Important than Learning Styles

People not only learn at different rates, but also in different ways. Some students want their teacher or lecturers to write everything on the board. Others prefer to listen. Some like to sit in small groups and discuss a question; others like to listen to a lecture, translating it into pictures or doodles in their notebook. Such individual learning preferences are known as learning styles.

Learning styles are generally divided into the three categories of visual, auditory and tactile/kinesthetic learners, who prefer a hands-on approach. Understand which is your main ability but use all of them.

There is great deal of scientific study but also controversy about this.  The one area that has agreement is the fact that  if you use all senses to learn… your data absorption skyrockets.

#3: L- Laugh. Add fun, meaning to children’s learning by Jenni Sebora says:  We all probably have heard that learning should be fun, but there is real validity in building fun into the learning process.

Learning is directly proportional to the amount of fun you are having. There is scientific reasoning that indicates the need to have fun.

When we laugh and have fun, the left side of our brain is sparked as well as the right side, and when both the left and right side of our brain are sparked, more memory is created and learning is increased.

Motor activities such as a cross crawl exercise prior to absorbing information also gets the left and the right side of the brain fired, which again, increases memory.

#4: F- Use frequency modulation by listening to Baroque or 60 cyle music.  FM (Frequency Modulation) integrates our brain waves.  Using all our brainwaves more effectively enhances our ability to learn and think. The importance of integrating brain waves are explained in an article in Scientific American entitled “What is the Function of the Brainwaves?” by  Ned Herrmann an educator who has developed models of brain activity and integrated them into teaching and management training. Before founding the Ned Herrmann Group in 1980, he headed management education at General Electric, where he developed many of his ideas. Here is his explanation.

It is well known that the brain is an electrochemical organ; researchers have speculated that a fully functioning brain can generate as much as 10 watts of electrical power. Other more conservative investigators calculate that if all 10 billion interconnected nerve cells discharged at one time that a single electrode placed on the human scalp would record something like five millionths to 50 millionths of a volt. If you had enough scalps hooked up you might be able to light a flashlight bulb.

Even though this electrical power is very limited, it does occur in very specific ways that are characteristic of the human brain. Electrical activity emanating from the brain is displayed in the form of brainwaves. There are four categories of these brainwaves, ranging from the most activity to the least activity. When the brain is aroused and actively engaged in mental activities, it generates beta waves. These beta waves are of relatively low amplitude, and are the fastest of the four different brainwaves. The frequency of beta waves ranges from 15 to 40 cycles a second. Beta waves are characteristics of a strongly engaged mind. A person in active conversation would be in beta. A debater would be in high beta. A person making a speech, or a teacher, or a talk show host would all be in beta when they are engaged in their work.

The next brainwave category in order of frequency is alpha. Where beta represented arousal, alpha represents non-arousal. Alpha brainwaves are slower, and higher in amplitude. Their frequency ranges from 9 to 14 cycles per second. A person who has completed a task and sits down to rest is often in an alpha state. A person who takes time out to reflect or meditate is usually in an alpha state. A person who takes a break from a conference and walks in the garden is often in an alpha state.

The next state, theta brainwaves, are typically of even greater amplitude and slower frequency. This frequency range is normally between 5 and 8 cycles a second. A person who has taken time off from a task and begins to daydream is often in a theta brainwave state. A person who is driving on a freeway, and discovers that they can’t recall the last five miles, is often in a theta state–induced by the process of freeway driving. The repetitious nature of that form of driving compared to a country road would differentiate a theta state and a beta state in order to perform the driving task safely.

Individuals who do a lot of freeway driving often get good ideas during those periods when they are in theta. Individuals who run outdoors often are in the state of mental relaxation that is slower than alpha and when in theta, they are prone to a flow of ideas. This can also occur in the shower or tub or even while shaving or brushing your hair. It is a state where tasks become so automatic that you can mentally disengage from them. The ideation that can take place during the theta state is often free flow and occurs without censorship or guilt. It is typically a very positive mental state.

The final brainwave state is delta. Here the brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency. They typically center around a range of 1.5 to 4 cycles per second. They never go down to zero because that would mean that you were brain dead. But, deep dreamless sleep would take you down to the lowest frequency. Typically, 2 to 3 cycles a second.

When we go to bed and read for a few minutes before attempting sleep, we are likely to be in low beta. When we put the book down, turn off the lights and close our eyes, our brainwaves will descend from beta, to alpha, to theta and finally, when we fall asleep, to delta.

It is a well known fact that humans dream in 90 minute cycles. When the delta brainwave frequencies increase into the frequency of theta brainwaves, active dreaming takes place and often becomes more experiential to the person.

Typically, when this occurs there is rapid eye movement, which is characteristic of active dreaming. This is called REM, and is a well known phenomenon.

When an individual awakes from a deep sleep in preparation for getting up, their brainwave frequencies will increase through the different specific stages of brainwave activity. That is, they will increase from delta to theta and then to alpha and finally, when the alarm goes off, into beta. If that individual hits the snooze alarm button they will drop in frequency to a non-aroused state, or even into theta, or sometimes fall back to sleep in delta. During this awakening cycle it is possible for individuals to stay in the theta state for an extended period of say, five to 15 minutes–which would allow them to have a free flow of ideas about yesterday’s events or to contemplate the activities of the forthcoming day. This time can be an extremely productive and can be a period of very meaningful and creative mental activity.

In summary, there are four brainwave states that range from the high amplitude, low frequency delta to the low amplitude, high frequency beta. These brainwave states range from deep dreamless sleep to high arousal. The same four brainwave states are common to the human species. Men, women and children of all ages experience the same characteristic brainwaves. They are consistent across cultures and country boundaries.

Research has shown that although one brainwave state may predominate at any given time, depending on the activity level of the individual, the remaining three brain states are present in the mix of brainwaves at all times. In other words, while somebody is an aroused state and exhibiting a beta brainwave pattern, there also exists in that person’s brain a component of alpha, theta and delta, even though these may be present only at the trace level.

It has been my personal experience that knowledge of brainwave states enhances a person’s ability to make use of the specialized characteristics of those states: these include being mentally productive across a wide range of activities, such as being intensely focused, relaxed, creative and in restful sleep.  Scientific American  December 22, 1997.

See how to use frequency modulation to learn Spanish in three days.

#5:  A – Act and Try Things. There are many methods you can use to keep something in memory.  Remember that you are most likely to remember something if it has value to you.

When we use all senses and when we take in information in a variety of ways – hearing, seeing, and doing can give us more ability to absorb data.

When students learn how they learn best, they engage in metacognition. Metacognition involves knowing how one learns and what results one achieves from different learning processes. It involves self-regulation of cognitive activities by monitoring them and making appropriate adjustments.

Metacognition helps attain complete learning cycles.

A complete learning cycle includes having a new experience, reflecting from the experiencing, concluding from the experience, and doing something with the experience, such as planning the next steps or applying the experience to solve a problem.

Using newly learned knowledge locks in the knowing.

At our Super Thinking courses, we review parts of a 2011 Livescience.com article by Jeremy Hsu entitled “CIA Seeks Anyone, Anyone Who Can Speak 2 Languages”.

Four important points in the article are shown in excerpts below (I have placed the four points in bold and and my comments parenthesis):  WASHINGTON, D.C.

“We’re dealing with monolinguals or people who have only studied foreign language, so that they don’t really have any proficiency.”

(COMMENT: This is why traditional Spanish does not work.)

One nation under English

American schools currently don’t graduate enough people fluent in French and Spanish and other Romance languages, let alone languages such as Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Finding the best

Government agencies aren’t alone in trying to recruit multilingual speakers; U.S. corporations covet such skills for doing business in the era of globalization.

(COMMENT: This is one reason why the ability to speak Spanish adds value to you as a person on the market place).

Doughty and her colleagues used tests to train up cognitive processes related to language learning, such as the ability to hold information in the brain while using it for learning. They then confirmed that the training’s effects left a lasting impression in the brains of candidates even after several months.

Changes in the brain

Osterhout’s lab has used electrodes placed on the scalp to measure the electrical activity created by the signals of brain cells. That allows the researchers to see differences in the brain patterns among language learners and fluent speakers – and to find some surprising results.

Another surprise came from studies of Spanish-speaking immigrants, because neither age nor language proficiency seemed to predict how quickly the immigrants picked up English. Instead, the fastest learners showed both the greatest motivation to learn and a willingness to use English at every opportunity despite being bad at it (at first).

(COMMENT: This is why it’s important to try things and why our Super Thinking courses works so well.  The course gets you speaking and thinking Spanish immediately and continually).

Learning to speak the lingo

Osterhout ( Lee Osterhout, a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Washington in Seattle) hopes to tease out the importance of motivation in language learning in future research. But he also wants to get a better sense of what separates the proficient language speakers from the truly fluent ones.

“From knowing nothing to a little bit, [there are] huge changes in the brain,” Osterhout pointed out.”[From] knowing a little to knowing a lot, [it is] much more subtle.”

(COMMENT:  This is another reason why Super Thinking works because it focuses on making the huge change and ignores the small stuff.  From this introduction the perfection and subtle changes can grow).

#6:  R – Repetition & the Power of Sound.  Sound offers us a powerful means of communication. Our sense of hearing enables us to experience the world around us through sound. Because our sense of hearing allows us to gather, process, and interpret sounds continuously and without conscious effort, we may take this special sense of communication for granted.  We should not. Hearing has great power for learning.

Human communication is multisensory, involving visual, tactile, and sound cues but hearing is one of the most important senses for absorbing data.  The range of human hearing, from just audible to painful, is over 100-trillion-fold!

Tiny specialized cells in the inner ear, known as hair cells, are responsible for converting the vibrational waves of sound into electrical signals that can be interpreted by the brain!

Contemporary hearing research is guided by lessons learned from sensory research, namely that specialized nerve cells respond to different forms of energy—mechanical, chemical, or electromagnetic—and convert this energy into electro-chemical impulses that can be processed by the brain. The brain then works as the central processor of sensory impulses. It perceives and interprets them using a “computational” approach that involves several regions of the brain interacting all at once. This notion is different from the long-held view that the brain processes information one step at a time in a single brain region. Over the past decade, scientists have begun to understand the intricate mechanisms that enable the ear to convert the mechanical vibrations of sound to electrical energy, thereby allowing the brain to process and interpret these signals.

7: E – Exercise. Exercise helps learning.   Excerpts from the scholarly study entitled “Exercise Enhances Learning and Hippocampal Neurogenesis in Aged Mice” by Henriette van Praag, Tiffany Shubert, Chunmei Zhao, and Fred H. Gage explains one reason why.

Aging causes changes in the hippocampus that may lead to cognitive decline in older adults. In young animals, exercise increases hippocampal neurogenesis and improves learning. We investigated whether voluntary wheel running would benefit mice that were sedentary until 19 months of age. Specifically, young and aged mice were housed with or without a running wheel and injected with bromodeoxyuridine or retrovirus to label newborn cells. After 1 month, learning was tested in the Morris water maze. Aged runners showed faster acquisition and better retention of the maze than age-matched controls. The decline in neurogenesis in aged mice was reversed to 50% of young control levels by running. Moreover, fine morphology of new neurons did not differ between young and aged runners, indicating that the initial maturation of newborn neurons was not affected by aging. Thus, voluntary exercise ameliorates some of the deleterious morphological and behavioral consequences of aging.

A trusted.MD blog article entitled “Exercise improves learning” by Vreni Gurd says: Maybe our kids should start each school day with at least 20 minutes of aerobic exercise – it improves concentration, comprehension and learning.

This week CBC news (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) put out a very interesting story about City Park High School in Saskatoon, that put treadmills and exercise bikes into a math classroom, and before doing any math, the kids strapped on their heart-rate monitors and did 20 minutes of moderate intensity cardiovascular exercise. This is an alternative school for those with learning difficulties, and over half the students have ADHD. They couldn’t sit still, many had behavioural problems, and they couldn’t learn. Well, the cardio equipment went in the classroom in February, and by June, pretty much all the kids had jumped a full grade in reading, writing and math. After doing the exercise the kids were suddenly able to sit still and focus on what they were learning, and they were able to understand what they were being taught. The exercise altered their brain chemistry enough to make learning possible, AND it greatly improved their behaviour.

Use the power of repetition and sound.  Hearing is an important part of remaining mentally young.

The ageless principle of repetition is of great importance because learning cannot occur without repetition.

Repetition is important in the “wiring” of a person’s brain, i.e. the forming of connections or synapses between the brain cells. Without repetition, key synapses don’t form. And if such connections, once formed, are used too seldom to be strengthened and reinforced, the brain, figuring they’re dead weight, eventually “prunes” them away.

Scientific research has shown that the brain never stops changing and adjusting to its environment.   This ability is important for acquiring new knowledge and for compensating for deficiencies that result from age or injury.

The ability of the brain to “reprogram” itself is called brain plasticity.  Special brain exercises, or training techniques, exploit brain plasticity to help people cope with specific language and reading problems.

Brain plasticity is the #1 weapon in our armory to fight falling behind change.  Change is everywhere and it is accelerating.  It is important to everyone’s welfare to remember and use the 7 Steps that Enhance Brain Plasticity represented by W-E-L-F-A-R-E.

I Lied

Learn to speak Spanish in four days?

“That’s not correct” many would say.  The skeptics are right. I lied.  You can learn how to speak Spanish in just three days.    We have improved the course using Frequency Modulation to save you even more time and money.   In fact we have improved the course in three ways for you.

A delegate (who was already a graduate of the Gothe Institut the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution) at our most recent Super Thinking + Spanish course just sent this note.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Mt. Dora session; it was everything we had hoped it would be.  You and Merri are superb instructors and role models.  We look forward to joining you at a future event.  Best wishes,

Another delegate Steve Kelly who lives in Belize wrote:   I just got back from the Super-learning Super-Thinking Speed-Spanish course done by Merri & Gary Scott of Investment & International ex-pat living & investing fame.   Their website and newsletters etc are available, along with their catalog of courses at www.GaryaScott.com .

I have lived & played in Latin cultures or immersions in: Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and yes… Los Angeles, etc. and gone to the Spanish school in Cuernavaca (sp?) Mexico so I have learned enough from all those experiences and years to conduct what I call “Espanol el Calle”/or Street Spanish. But not good enuf for intricate business or pleasure experiences of the kind of quality I go for.

Their course, and they as individuals of personal experience and super energy & INTEGRITY/Intelligence/imagination combo , or “Personal Power” as Tony Robbins would say, is phenomenal…incredible…unmatched. And the “17 tricks or keys” they teach along with a lot of other tools and the Super-learning techniques of the famous Bulgarian Scientist, Dr Lozanov are unmatched…absolutely no comparison…not even close… anywhere…and in just 4 days, you will be fluent in Spanish!  Fluency is considered knowing 1200 words…they give you at least 4005 and many other “secrets’/”tricks” that will make u seem like and expert! WOW!

They have a teacher training too, and now have qualified instructors in Costa Rica, Ecuador etc and they teach in Mt Dora Fl near Orlando.

The course is a steal of a deal at $799 for one and $999 for 2… no BS!  Plus their qualities especially and the quality of the expats or wanna be expats attending was so superior!I cannot say enough good about them, without being accused of excess flattery and promotion, but I swear its true! Who Knew?

There will be alot of competitors and doubters who say, like I used to, and others did to me before I went: ” No way u can speak Spanish well and have fluency in just 4 days”… that’s a Miracle isn’t it? And Miracles do NOT happen anymore” or some sorta similar Raz! Well, I don’t know if its miraculous, but it’s certainly stupendous!

I now am exponentially better, and ended up being an interpreter in Orlando, Fl before I left, and coming thru Cancun Mexico etc on the way back to Belize, with perfect ease!

I personally do not have the patience or the time or the money to go thru years of classes, to get what I and others who were there who had studied for years, got better in 4 days than 4 years!

Anyway, check out their website, request the info/newsletter or catalog and course specific documents, and testimonials…and then “Just Do It”! Stop talking and think about it…just go get it! Spanish fluency in 4 days! Maybe even join their teachers training to turn it into a $$$ flow source?!

Or if u send me a PM here, I will send you a comprehensive email with addl’ docs i managed to work out of them… as i am a bit of a research and detail fanatic! Only slightly “anal” admission = ANAL-ysis to death, for my Intl Biz Consulting forte & gigs especially. Or if there are too many requests i may post/upload the docs here, i think i can anyway? (PDF or Word docs)

U can see more about me and just a very small foundational part of what i do for offshore Biz of all legal sorts, here on another part of the forum, or on my website= www.HIP.BZ .

Hasta La Vista…Via Con Dios!  Steve Kelly

Our Super Thinking + Spanish courses was a fantastic deal when it took four days and cost $799.  Now we have made the course better by shortening it to three days and dropping the price by $100 bucks!

Plus we are adding teachers to make this important education more accessible to you.

Dora Super Thinking + Spanish course… a doctor attendee wrote:  Merri,

Fwd: spanish-teachers

We just competed our Mt. Dora super Thinking + Spanish course and qualified five new teachers.  Here are our Super Thinking teachers ready to serve you.

Super Thinking + Spanish courses are taught across the country.  During the winter they are taught in Mount Dora… our Florida shopping town and known as
the “New England” of Central Florida where you can expect warm weather and great sunsets like this on Lake Dora.

Creativity, humanitarianism and prosperity come in many forms, but all of them require three things:  understanding, communications and inspiration.

Here are shots of delegates at a recent  Super Thinking Plus Spanish course in Mt.

Here are the 40 delegates at this course enjoying a coffee break.  Delegates help each other learn.  They came from all over the world…  The USA, Canada, Europe…even South Africa. Sri Lanka & China.

Don Childs was our Spanish teacher at this course.

Don & Merri. A delegate just created a great Spanish sentence on the second day. Congratulations!

Merri and I taught the Mt. Dora course along with our native Spanish speaker.

Here is the photo of Spanish teacher Glenn Sterling (right) and pronunciation coach Don Childs at the white board on a Super Thinking plus Spanish course. The sentence  was written by a delegate who did not know a lick of Spanish just three days before.   Delegates were creating, speaking and understanding sentences like this after just four days.

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world. Chances are a huge Spanish speaking population lives south of and around you. Yet our North American language system did not teach us how to communicate with or understand this culture. We can all do with a bit of Spanish.

Yet who has the time?

You do! Fluency in a language is considered to come when you know 1,200 words. To prove that it is possible to gain this and much more, let me share just one of the 17 tactics Merri taught me that gives you thousands of Spanish words in less than three minutes.

This simple lesson leaves you sounding like a Spanish professor (believe me I know as I use this tactic every day when in Ecuador).

Travel, accommodations and food are not included.

With love and blessings,

Be well,

Merri was among just a few who learned directly from Lozanov.

gary scott super thinking session

Retirement Assets Going to the Dogs

The global economy may be going to the dogs but you can see here how a lesson from dogs can help you retire.

Laughter is a valuable asset for retirement at any age… good for your brain and body.

On the subject of dogs meet Angel.

gary-scott-dog

We’ll see more on the “Trash Can Hound” in a moment.

Dogs believe it or not can give us a clue on how to retire at any age.

First  let’s review some of yesterday’s news about the predatory nature of the world we face when we thinking about retiring from the rat race.

A New York Times article “Public Rebuke of Culture at Goldman Opens Debate” tells how Greg Smith a midlevel executive at Goldman Sachs resigned and published an Op-Ed article detailing his criticisms  about how it made him ill how callously people at Goldman talk about ripping off clients.

The article also mentioned accusations brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2010 that the firm intentionally duped certain clients by selling a mortgage-security product that was designed by another Goldman client betting that the housing market would crash. More recently, a Delaware judge criticized Goldman over the multiple, and potentially conflicting, roles it played in brokering an energy deal.

This is the firm that after we the taxpayers gave $10 billion in bailout money fired 1,000 workers in the United States and elsewhere and shifting their jobs to the cheaper Singaporean labor market in 2011 at a time of record profits for the company, which raked in $2.7 billion in profits in the first three months of 2011 alone.

US Taxpayers who invest are slammed three ways… paying for the bailout…. dealing with higher unemployment and protecting against chicanery in investing markets.

One way Merri and I have for overcome this over the decades is to fix up worn out old properties and make them valuable again.  We have done this in London.  We done this in Florida. We have done this in the Dominican Republic.  We have done this in North Carolina.  We have done this in Ecuador.

This has always been gratifying because we feel one purpose in our lives is helping the environment.  What better way than to save ruined houses… make them beautiful and useful.  It is good to think of some resources that have been saved.

The process has also been financially rewarding.  I have never checked the actual figures but certainly we earned enough to be financially independent.  Having some money is required to retire from the rat race.

We have also tried to help worn down people reclaim their natural beauty… energy and worth.

More than the money though… the most important part is joy in the process.   Seeing the tarnish of anything or anyone removed and watching the inner beauty once again revealed is a delight.

Fixing up worn out places… worn out houses and worn out people is fun!

There is one more favorite pet project we love.

Meet Angel again.

hound

We love helping worn down dogs because the return goes way beyond money.

Readers who have shared this site for long will have known Ma our pumpkin patch hound (Ma was found abandoned with broken ribs/legs in a our North Carolina pumpkin path).  Merri, Ma and I were inseparable. She traveled with us continually to Oregon, Florida, North Carolina and Ecuador with us.  When she passed at age 15 there was real mourning here and we have felt a great void in our lives.

Ma was special and we trained her to pass her AKC Canine Good Citizens Award a rare event for a hound because they have it in their nature to run free.

If you believe in reincarnation Ma has returned in the form of Angel…  a Red and White Coonhound mix.   If you do not believe in reincarnation,  we have found a new hound brought to us by a great dog rescue organization called RUFF (Rescuers Uniting Forever Friends).

Angel is our trash can hound… as she came to us after being found abandoned in a trash can.

We are delighted for several reasons but this means we are back to square one… in terms of dog training.

This is where Merri and I (and our retirement planning) gain so much because training dogs stresses the natural importance of FUN!

My most potent weapon in training is play.  When Angel does what she should do, her reward is play.

Fun and play can help us retire from the rat race… at any age and in any place as well.

Our Super Thinking courses help delegates learn how to use frequency modulation to integrate brain waves so they attain and stay in a state of relaxed concentration because concentration… focus… patience are keys to success.

All too often concentration creates stress and reduces the effectiveness of the focus.  We lose the ability to see the forest with too much concentration on the trees.

Super Thinking delegates learn numerous techniques to attain this state of relaxed concentration, but nothing helps create relaxation and concentration faster than fun.  You cannot be tense when you are happy and laughing!

Laughter is good for the brain because it integrates the brain waves.

An article Helpguide.com shows several ways to improve your memory and one  is laughter.

An excerpt from this article says (bolds are mine):   You’ve heard that laughter is the best medicine, and that holds true for the brain as well as the body. Unlike emotional responses, which are limited to specific areas of the brain, laughter involves multiple regions across the whole brain.

Furthermore, listening to jokes and working out punch lines activates areas of the brain vital to learning and creativity.  As psychologist Daniel Goleman notes in his book Emotional Intelligence, “Chunking breaks a long list of numberslaughter…seems to help people think more broadly and associate more freely.”

Looking for ways to bring more laughter in your life?  Start with these basics:

•    Laugh at yourself. Share your embarrassing moments. The best way to take ourselves less seriously is talk about times when we took ourselves too seriously.

•    When you hear laughter, move toward it.  Most of the time, people are very happy to share something funny because it gives them an opportunity to laugh again and feed off the humor you find in it. When you hear laughter, seek it out and ask, “What’s funny?”

•    Spend time with fun, playful people. These are people who laugh easily–both at themselves and at life’s absurdities–and who routinely find the humor in everyday events. Their playful point of view and laughter are contagious.

•    Surround yourself with reminders to lighten up. Keep a toy on your desk or in your car. Put up a funny poster in your office. Choose a computer screensaver that makes you laugh. Frame photos of you and your family or friends having fun.

•    Pay attention to children and emulate them. They are the experts on playing, taking life lightly, and laughing.

The first slide we show in our Super Thinking + Spanish course is below.

Fun is a main pillar in this educational experience because we know the learning power of fun.

See how to learn Spanish in just three days.

Dogs are wonderful providers of fun and exercise.  They love to play… how many humans show up with a toy in their mouth?  They force us to get out and take that walk we might otherwise put off.  They absorb a lot of negativity.

Laughter is a powerful super thinking tool that helps create relaxed concentration and this EZ focus is one of the best assets for gaining early retirement from the predatory world.

Using Frequency Modulation to Survive in a Predatory World

Ancient wisdom can help us see beyond logic for retirement in a predatory world.

ecuador-symbols

Ecuadorian wise men of the past had a deep understanding of nature… astronomy and sense of place as this positional structure at the entrance of Cotacachi shows.  That wisdom can help us think beyond logic when it comes to retiring from the rat race at any age… 30, 40, 50, 60 or later despite living in a predatory world.

Ecuador is a great place to retire at any age… right now.

A March 7, 2102  Yahoo.finance.com article entitled “Ecuador Seen as New Retirement Hot Spot” by Alina Dikik says:  The warm weather, cheap housing, and inexpensive healthcare are a draw, especially for baby boomers with eroded nest eggs and a sense of adventure.

For retirees, leaving the United States often means a more affordable way of life, including low-cost healthcare, real estate and even gasoline prices. Cherry-picking a warm weather spot can offer another perk. Some expatriate retirees also point to the social benefits that accrue when they become part of a tight knit community.

Logistics like health insurance and banking have been surprisingly easy, says Connie Pombo. The Pombos pay $85 per month for comprehensive health insurance with Nova Ecuador, a national insurer.

Pombo says most retirees prefer to simply pay out of pocket for doctor visits, which are less than $20 per appointment.

How Long Will Ecuador be a Good Place for Retirement?

Not everything is perfect.

The article goes on to say:  Ecuador is still in the infancy stage in terms of attracting … the infrastructure is still not as strong as other places like Costa Rica.  Many Americans are not prepared for the language and the culture.

Real estate scams are common and can include hidden fees. It’s unregulated and nobody is enforcing the laws.

Ecuador has recently seen an increase in long-term home rentals, which can be a good alternative to buying, she adds. Negotiating a two or three-year lease can halve monthly payments. For example, a three-bedroom, waterfront condo can rent for $700 with a multiyear lease.

Unexpected living expenses also add up… the cost of furniture, appliances and electronics, can sell for up to three times. Western-sized clothing can be especially difficult to find… Americans tend to be a lot bigger.

The article also points out that retired expats are required by the U.S. government to pay taxes, even if residing abroad plus it says:   Crowder also cautions Americans thinking of retiring abroad to not be overly trusting. White-collar crime is becoming a concern for some retirees in Ecuador. “Gated communities have these big austere looking fronts, but a lot of crime is committed by insider jobs,” says Crowder who owns a home in Ecuador. He warns against an increasing number of expat criminals who establish trust with retirees by speaking fluent English. Expect to be bombarded with ways to part with your money from locals too.

A local attorney can help start the year-long residency process and specify which notarized documents are necessary before leaving the United States. Brushing up on Spanish and learning about the Ecuadorian language and culture is a must.

Our Ecuador Ateam services help solve three of the problems above:

#1: Provide contacts with attorneys, brokers and agents with good long term records.

#2: Provides real estate tours so you can assess property markets (now in their tenth year) on an objective basis.

#3: Help you learn Spanish with Frequency Modulation.

However Frequency Modulation is more important than helping in Ecuador and Spanish now.  FM can help in all the future…. anywhere… with any learning and thinking.

Recent messages have reviewed thoughts on the problems retirement may face in the future.  A growing and aging population is breaking down the social economic contract we call money.  Saving to retire may not be enough because the purchasing power of money in core industrial nations may fail.

Deciding where to retire is difficult because of the chaotic state in the world.

A previous message at this site said:  The mindset of the Western world is  indoctrinated on these 3 Ps…position, possession and popularity.  These concepts form the foundation of many lives and they are the precursors for stress, tension and poor health as well as financial doom.   These structural flaws in our social economic morality create a template for self slavery and potential failure.  We voluntarily become chained to our desk or jobs and are willing to even cheat (ranging from small fibs on loan applications to doctoring books to billion dollar Ponzi schemes) to gain the 3Ps.   The weakness in this framework of thought also leaves us open to fraud.

The framework of this materialistic mindset goes way beyond the creations of our personal risks as well.  The framework reaches to the very core of world’s  geo-political tensions and chaos.

This creates a predatory world and super thinking can help us survive in a predatory world.

This is not likely to change quickly.  Can we rid ourselves of poverty in our lifetimes… if ever?    Deuteronomy 15:11 suggests not when it says: There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.

In our lifetimes we”ll probably not see a perfect world… we’ll not find perfect places without poor.. without fear… without crime… without tension… and these forces create predators.

What can we do to live and retire amidst all this stress without letting it get us down?

First,  living in a calm life in a world of stress we can develop a historical perspective on the world’s problems creating by this eternal jockeying for the three Ps… possessions… position and power.

To get one perspective, let’s follow a vine of social discontent back about a hundred years to WWI as it impacts our forward thinking on where to invest… where to do business…. where to live and retire now.

This vine leads us to WWI and the Balkans.

According to Wikepedia: The causes of the military conflict, which began in central Europe in August 1914, included many intertwined factors, such as the conflicts and antagonisms of the four decades leading up to the war. Militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism played major roles in the conflict as well. However, the immediate origins of the war lay in the decisions taken by statesmen and generals during the July Crisis of 1914, the spark (or casus belli) for which was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by Gavrilo Princip, an irredentist Serb.[1] However, the crisis did not exist in a void; it came after a long series of diplomatic clashes between the Great Powers over European and colonial issues in the decade prior to 1914 which had left tensions high. In turn these diplomatic clashes can be traced to changes in the balance of power in Europe since 1870.[2].  Fundamentally the war was sparked by tensions over territory in the Balkans. Austria-Hungary competed with Serbia and Russia for territory and influence in the region and they pulled the rest of the great powers into the conflict through their various alliances and treaties. The topic of the causes of, or guilt for, the First World War is one of the most studied in all of world history. Scholars have differed significantly in their interpretations of the event.

If so, tensions in the Balkans were a driving force in social military tensions at the turn of the last century.

The Balkans include:

*  Albania
*  Bosnia and Herzegovina
*  Bulgaria
*  Croatia
*  Greece
*  Kosovo
*  Macedonia
*  Montenegro
*  Serbia

Other countries sometimes included are:

*  Moldova
*  Romania
*  Slovenia
*  Turkey

The problems remain with us today, plus according to many  WWI was the root of WWII. Winston Churchill described the treaty of Versailles, “monstrous” and “malignant.”

WWII created such tension that Harry Truman and many others were so paranoid about Communism that the Truman Doctorine evolved which led to the Korean and the Vietnam War.

The Vietnam War kick started America’s drug problem which has created such wealth that Mexican and Colombia drug lords can undermine federal authority and even create risk in places where Americans typically retire… Southern California… Arizona… South Florida.

The LA Times has a huge section in its paper entitled “The drug war at our doorstep”.

An NPR.com article entitled “Mexican Drug War Brings Violence To Arizona” says: Home invasion and kidnappings are on the rise in Arizona. State authorities pin the blame on Mexican organized crime. Host Cheryl Corley speaks with Ariz. Attorney General Terry Goddard about how he hopes to address the problem.

This problem hit South Florida first. When enforcement efforts intensified in South Florida and the Caribbean, the Colombian organizations formed partnerships with the Mexico-based traffickers to transport cocaine through Mexico into the United States and spread the drug wars across the American south.

This is one vine of history in a thick foliage of reality that is so dense it creates a dark jungle that no amount of logic can penetrate.

On the subject of military political history  am reading one really fascinating book now… “Twilight Warriors”.

The Twilight Warriors, is the winner of the 2011 Samuel Eliot Morison Award for Naval Literature and looks at the final—and most brutal—battle of the Pacific war: Okinawa.

This is especially interesting to me (and many boomers) because my father was a Seabee attached to the Marines. Wounded in the invasion of Iwo Jima, he was hospitalized in Hawaii and scheduled to return to battle probably in the invasion of Japan… which would have been perilous.

During his hospitalization the Battle of Okinawa became the most expensive naval battle in American history, with almost 10,000 American casualties. Thirty ships were lost, and over 350 more were damaged, many beyond repair.   Okinawa taught President Truman a grim lesson: “any weapon,” even an atomic bomb, “was preferable to an invasion” and this perhaps was a fulcrum point in the fabric  of reality determining “to be or not to be”.   Had dad gone onto another invasion I might not have been.

Random House also reported that “Twilight Warriors”  was a History Book Club Main Selection and a Featured Alternate of the Book of the Month Club and the Military Book Club.

Where is it safe to go in a predatory world ? Where  will we be able to afford to live?  Where will we find peace?

The answer is not a nation or state… but is in a state of being… being more intelligent… more flexible… more intuitive wherever you go… or are led.

How can we figure out these answers?

We cannot.  Logic is a deficient tool in our universe where chaos rules along with order.  This graph from Jame’s Gleick’s book “Chaos, Making a new Science” shows how everything in our universe moves from states of order to disorder.

ecuador-fractals

Mark Twain expressed this reality nicely when he said: He is now rising from affluence to poverty.

The logic of logic shows why it will not work in our quantum world.  Logic in the form of deductive reasoning concerns what follows necessarily from given premises (if a, then b).  Logic requires seeing a reliable given premise a to understand “b”. Quantum mechanics suggests that reality is too complex for our minds to see enough facts.  There is too much information to process to come up with accurate premises.

If we cannot think our way to a happy lifestyle… what can we do?

First, we can accept that everything is in perfect order and remember the importance of attitude.  Kahlil Gibran, the Lebanese poet, stresses attitude’s value nicely:  Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

Second, we can add frequency modulation into our armory of thought processes to expand our vision when outside events are so unpredictable we cannot depend on logic.

When we think as the shamans of the Andes, we see events…fate…and our free will as being connected. The shamans call this “following the forces of nature”.

The circular thought of the shamans is sometimes difficult to grasp.  Some shamans will say something that seems it has no logic…until one day an event…act or an aha starts to make sense.

For example, their concept of fractals is that everything is part of a sacred geometry that leads us to where we should be.  They observe what they see and look for hints or clues as to where they should go from what they see.

Here is an example that has been meaningful to me.

The shamans say that any mountain near us when we grow up is our mother (Pacha Mama).  They believe that she guides us on our life’s way.

This never made much sense to me until one day when we were visiting our daughter, son in law, grandkids and my mom in Portland, Oregon, where I was born and raised.

Each day I walked out my mom’s front door (she has lived in the same house for 50 years) and enjoyed the view where I grew up.

Mt-cotacachi

Mt. Hood… my Pancha Mama. Something was gnawing at me…where had Mt. Hood led me? I missed that connection until…

Mt-cotacachi

I returned to Cotacachi and noticed the equivalent geometry. This is Mt. Cotacachi that one can see each day from Cotacachi.

This did not hit me fully until we took my mom to a favorite beach of ours that is our historical escape on Oregon’s coast.  I took this photo  as I looked down the beach.

This made me think even more about where I had been led.

Mt. Hood and this coastal view were a big part of my youthful formation… pictures I saw as I grew.

Mt-cotacachi

Then I realized how similar this geometry is to our beach escape in San Clemente, Ecuador.

Cotacachi fractals

Our life in Ecuador in the US and I suspect anywhere we would find ourselves is filled with abundance.  Did the sacred geometry beginning with a bullet shot by Gavrilo Princip in Serajevo  lead me to Cotacachi and San Clemente?   Did these same patterns return us to the USA and bring our involvement in agriculture?

Did we make our decisions to live in these wonderful places because of some impression beyond logic…some deeper message given long ago?

I don’t know the answers to these questions, but do know that the biggest joys in our lives have all come from using frequency modulation to make decisions that are beyond logic.

Success in Change

Today the key to success is the ability to keep up with change.

This is why we are increasing our focus on super thinking.  All of us need to be smarter to adapt to faster change.

Spanish-course

We just completed our Mt. Dora super Thinking + Spanish course and qualified five new teachers. Here is Mark Frakes teaching.

Young Chuck Fritz put the rest of us to shame absorbing the data like a sponge.  We need our youth to know this stuff!

Change is everywhere! For example in the global investing process, the time to take risk is about to change.

JGAM just sent me this note:   Super Friday.  The market has been waiting all week for important news to be released Friday; the Greece bail-out participation rate of the Private Sector Initiative (PSI), inflation figures from China and non-farm payrolls from the U.S.

The Greek debt swap participation ratio was published as being 95.7%. Holders of the bonds only tendered 85.8% voluntarily and collective action clauses (CACs) had to be used to get the participation ratio above 95%. Once the CACs are triggered 86% of all Greek debt in private hands will be swapped for a cash payment and new Greek debt. These measures will wipe about euro (EUR) 100 billion from the Greek debt pile. This restructuring is the biggest sovereign restructure in history. However, the use of CACs may create a credit event in Greek credit default swaps (CDS) and lead to the payout of billions of dollars to the Greek CDSs. The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) meets later today to discuss a potential credit event in Greece.

Consumer inflation in China dropped to 3.2% from a year ago in February down from 4.5% in January and the lowest in 2 years. This slowdown in inflation could give Chinese policy makers room to stimulate economic growth, which has been falling below 8%. The inflation figure was however skewed by the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, as the country shuts down for two weeks. The combined inflation rate for January and February was 3.9%, and with the one-year benchmark deposit rate at 3.5% Chinese savers are still losing money on their bank deposits.

The non-farm payrolls came out at 227,000 in February, slightly above the consensus forecast of 210,000 and the revised numbers for the previous two months added an additional 61,000 to the gains reported.

On 8 and 9 March JGAM held its ordinary monthly Investment Committee meeting. We decided not to make new investments but we are moving closer to a situation where we will take on more risk, possibly by increasing exposure to equities and increase the gearing on leveraged portfolios.

The recent debt swap in Greece, with a large majority of private inventors voluntarily taking a significant loss on Greek bonds, has at least short-term reduced the risk of an uncontrollable sovereign debt default.

There are changes in the Ecuador real estate market as well.

We have had many stories of Ecuador visa and Ecuador real estate success.

One reader wrote:  Hi Gary,  We would like to inform you that we had an overwhelming demand for our condo at Vistazul # 505 in San Clemente. We accepted an offer and we do not think that we need to promote it any further at this time.

Thanks again for your great service,

Another wrote: Gary, how are you? After your article on Peter`s unit I have received about 20 requests for information! I know Bob as well is trying to sell his unit so I am offering both for resale.

Finally another wrote:  Dear Gary, We are buying the unit two doors down from Peter.   It is the one with the screens on second and roof for sun bathing.  We missed out on Peter’s place and he put us in touch with Larry.

This will be a cash offer and I believe we can come to a workable agreement.  We want it closed by April 1 with a $10,000 down for a serious commitment.

We hope to make this a family estate and  for our personal use.  Also, I feel it would be good rental when we aren’t there.  What is your take on this?  I will need to take one of your courses to guide me along the way and need to know where you would recommend my starting.

My husband and I are in our eighties and in reasonable health and hope for a long future.  Thank you,

That’s a first I know of… many dozens of leads and three units sold from one ad.

Ecuador Visa Comments

One reader sent this note about Ecuador visas:   If you are a soccer player, not an investor, this unconsistend goberment of Ecuador, can give you the citizenship in less than two years.  A total mismanagement of the immigration service.

My reply: Good point. We can either practice and become soccer stars or look for a government that is honest, consistent and efficient.  Though I am past retirement age I think I might have have the best chance if I aspire to make it into the World Cup.

In the USA it’s baseball rather than soccer and quite a few Cuban baseball players found it easier than Cuban businessmen to get access to the country.

Another reader wrote:  Gary,  Thanks for this info, Gary.  We own a little place in Cuenca which we are renting out right now, but have thought of moving in that direction over time.  Our one concern has always been how closely Ecuador is tied to the U.S.  Reading this, I can’t help but think that the U.S. Government has something to do with the tightening of the visa process there.  After all, I’m sure they are none too happy to see all the ex-pats moving there and taking all of their money with them.  Does our shared currency give them a certain amount of clout……….?   This all gives a little pause for our future considerations – any thoughts on that?

My reply:  Most readers have the opposite concern…. Ecuador was left out of the Andean Free Trade Agreement. They feel he is too close to Venezuela and to anti American.  Please see the April 07, 2011 Voice of American article entitled  “US Expels Ecuadorian Envoy in WikiLeaks Affair”.

This article says: “The United States on Thursday expelled Ecuador’s ambassador to Washington in another step in a diplomatic dispute spurred by a leaked U.S. State Department cable.  Ecuador expelled the U.S. envoy to Quito earlier this week.

“The State Department says it has ordered Ecuadorian Ambassador Luis Gallegos to leave the country as soon as possible in the latest diplomatic fallout from the WikiLeaks  disclosure of classified U.S. diplomatic cables.

“The action follows Ecuador’s expulsion on Tuesday of U.S. ambassador Heather Hodges over the contents of an alleged U.S. State Department document released by the activist website.

“Since last year, the State Department has refused to discuss the contents of the thousands of classified cables published by WikiLeaks .

“But the Spanish newspaper El Pais, which reported on the document on Ecuador, said that in it, U.S. envoy Hodges accused the country’s now-retired national police chief of corruption and suggested that Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa was aware of his crimes.

“State Department Acting Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner told reporters that Ecuador’s “unjustified” action against Ambassador Hodges left the United States with no option but to reciprocate.

“We’re interested in a positive relationship with Ecuador, but the regrettable and unwarranted decision to declare Ambassador Hodges persona non grata is going to be taken into account as we move forward in the relationship,” he said,

“Toner said the United States has also suspended plans for a high-level dialogue with Ecuador in June that had been agreed to during a visit to Quito by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last year.

“The United States has had a difficult relationship with Ecuador’s left-leaning President Correa, who in 2009 ended a deal under which U.S. surveillance planes used an Ecuadorian air base for anti-drug operations.”

Another long term reader of more than 20 years who started coming to Ecuador earlier on sent this note:  Dear Gary and Merri,  we are still around, albeit traveling less because of age. No need to remark on your earlier reader’s comments of being two years without Resident Visa. The situation, boiled down to its most simplistic, is that regardless of which way you approach the Visa, you must spend 21 of the first 24 months in Ecuador.

We have resigned ourselves to coming and going with Tourist Visas (90 days per year) and a 12-IX Visas (up to 180 days per year), juggling our visits to Ecuador to fit the above limitations. It is not ideal, but acceptable.

Now (as of last October), they have complicated matters. When you arrive with a 12-IX Visa, duly processed in the U.S., you must check in with an official government agency in Ecuador within 30 days of arrival in country. You must register the papers you have, then wait to receive an order to continue the process, then take this order to a branch of Banco Internacional, pay an additional $10.00 fee,in order to be able to come to some office yet another time to get the censo ID card.

Attempting to complete the process in Quito, problems occur all along the way: The computers in the government offices offer the choice of Spanish or English, but are not yet programmed to actually present the material in English. I had to complete ours at home with screens open on both the government site and Google Translate.

You must provide an email address and password. Unfortunately, their computers do not have an “@” key for your username; you must use the ALT key and tap in the numbers 6 and 4 on the keypad to produce the “@” symbol. Such directions are NOT provided- we lucked out because a woman next to me heard me swearing at the computer, took pity on me, and told me how to do it.

Filling out the form, when asked for the country of origin and country of residence, for US people you will run into trouble because: 1) United States is not offered as a choice on all computers; 2) estadoseunidos is a choice on SOME computers; 3) United States, estadoseunidos, united states are offered, but not necessarily in the alphabetical position they should be in. It is a mess.  If you make a mistake, the registration will not go through.

As you know, my wife is in a wheelchair. The offices are not necessarily handicapped equipped, and the entire process is inordinately fatiguing.  Life is good. Hope you are well,  our best.

My reply: How wonderful; to hear from you and know you are both well. This is really helpful information I’ll share.

There you have it… some important thoughts on visa in Ecuador and a way to sell or rent you real estate in Ecuador.  This is such a wonderful country but like all places it changes continually and has some challenges.

We are here to serve our readers in Ecuador with the Ecuador Living Club. See details here.

One other point. Other countries have their visa problems as well.

One reader recently sent me this note: Hi Gary. I have a client who needs some help and  wondering if you had any suggestions.

She migrated to the USA with her parents when she was a young girl. As a teenager in high school she had a part time job after school.

She did not have a green card and it seemed not necessary. While on that job she was caught up in a family emergency of some kind and had to phone home twice while at work.  Her employer had her charged with theft rather than asking her to pay for the calls. He took her to court and she had to perform some public service as a result.

She subsequently applied for, and was granted, a green card. She is now married with 2 children.  She has gone back and forth to her home country several times since receiving her green card but this last time, while passing through immigration at Washington Dulles, the agent confiscated her passport and greencard citing this criminal charge from her teen years in Colorado.  She is now facing a hearing.

They are saying she will be deported permanently which would mean being separated from her 2 children and her husband. Her children are of course, USA citizens and her husband works for a mar company on a green card.

They have hired a lawyer but if the hearing goes against them she will go immediately before a judge for deportation and a lawyer will be of no help they are told.  Any suggestions?

The country in question of course is the USA.  Justice appears to be quote unequal (or perhaps it is equal in its inequality) everywhere.

Regards,

Gary

See details of  our Florida based Super Thinking + Spanish course here.

The Amazon Super Thinking + Spanish Camp Includes the Super Thinking + Spanish course fee plus four nights accommodation, all meals at La Selva Lodge, all excursions and all transport in the Amazon and an English naturalist guide.

Because Kjetil Haugan, a friend for more than a decade, recently purchased La Selva we have been able to help our Super Thinking + Spanish teacher Glenn Sterling put together a super special price that cuts the cost of your Spanish course in half.

(Fees do not include airfare to or from Quito, Ecuador, airfare from Quito to Amazon ($145), National Park Fee ($25), bar bill and or tips.)

You might well ask how we can create such a bargain and there are several reasons behind the  answer. First, because of our long standing relationship, the owner of La Selva, Kjetil has offered us a special price.  Second most hotels and tour businesses in Ecuador offer us a commission. We do not accept commissions and pass the savings on to our Ecuador Living Club subscribers.  Third when you enroll for this Amazon tour you are automatically enrolled as an Ecuador Living Club member… a $119 value.. but this makes you eligible for huge discounts at hotels including this Amazon lodge.

Glenn Sterling has combined all these benefits to create this special value.  For details of the next Amazon Spanish Camp contact Glenn Sterling at glenn sterling nnomad9@gmail.com
