Delegates gained so much useful information on the October 2009 southern Ecuador beach tour that we have added this tour as a regular part of our 2010 multi tour adventure.

We have been our expanding our focus in Ecuador and this helps readers look in the southern coastal areas.

Ecuador beach property has always represented incredible value and this expansion means we can help readers see a much larger part of the Ecuador coast.

Those who have been reading our messages for any length of time know that we have focused our efforts on the middle portion of Ecuador’s beach from Manta to Bahia in the province of Manabi.

However there are many other great Ecuador beach areas that you may want to visit.

I recently sent readers an article “SEE SALINAS LIKE A LOCAL” by Amy Pinoargote  that said:

The Salinas Malecon area has long been a favorite destination.

Salinas is one of the favorite in Ecuador for good reasons.  It has beautiful beaches, with calm waters perfect for swimming, water sports, activities or just relaxing.   Along the Malecon, or beachfront promenade, you will find a variety of restaurants, hotels, bars and other attractions.  During the summer season there is even a giant sandcastle.  If you “tip” the sculptor $1, he will take your photo.  However, to really enjoy all that Salinas has to offer, you need to get to know it like a local.

Salinas at a Glance

There are two seasons in Ecuador.  Summer runs from December to April and winter from May to November.  The summer in Salinas is usually sunny, with occasional showers.  Daytime temperatures reach the low to mid 80s and nighttime temperatures run in the low 70s.  The winter tends to be overcast to partially sunny, but not rainy.  The winter is actually the drier time of the year and temperatures run about 10 degrees cooler than during the summer.   Because Salinas is semi-arid, it doesn’t experience sticky, tropical humidity.  This makes a comfortable environment for outdoor activities all year long.

As with most beach towns, the dress code in Salinas is casual.  It is perfectly fine to go from beach to restaurant.  Along with your swimsuit, pack plenty of shorts and short sleeved shirts, plus pants and long sleeves if you are visiting in the winter months.   Have a sweater handy, as some days are cooler than others.

Where to Eat

The Salinas area is a prime spot to enjoy fresh fish and seafood, as well as other Ecuadorian specialties.

A great spot to sample those specialties is Delícias de Ecuador, located near the entrance to the Costa de Oro neighborhood on the main road that runs from Salinas to La Libertad.

Prices here are very reasonable.  The daily lunch special or “Almuerzo” includes a soup, entrée and beverage, usually priced at $2.50.

Don’t ask for changes or substitutions on the lunch special; it comes the way it is.  Other options include Seco de Pollo, which is chicken stewed in a tomato-based sauce, and Menestra, lentils or beans served with your choice of grilled chicken, beef or fish.

If a relaxing lunch at the beach, complete with a hammock for a post-meal siesta is your style, drive about 30 minutes north of Salinas to San Pablo.  In this fishing village you will find cabana style restaurants right on the sand, specializing in fresh fish and seafood.

Las Manabas restaurant is one of the best.  If you can’t decide what to order from the extensive menu, try the Chupe de Pescado (fish stew) or Corvina (a mild tasting sea bass), cooked to order.  Most meals run between $3 and $5.

Ecuadorians typically eat a big meal at lunch and a light dinner.

Roca Parilla is the spot to enjoy an Ecuadorian style dinner.  Located a block off the Malecon, it opens at about 6 p.m.  Place your order at the counter, then take your receipt to the grill.  Specialties, which are typically priced from 50 cents to $1 each, include:

Chuzos -shrimp, chicken, beef or sausage grilled on a skewer
Torta de Papa – potato pancake filled with cheese
Torta de Choclo – corn pancake (this one is usually a favorite!)
Muchín – a yucca croquet filled with cheese

No trip to Salinas is complete without a visit to the Cevicherías, casual outdoor eating areas a few blocks off the Malecon that specialize in ceviche.  Shrimp ceviche in a tangy salsa is a good choice.  Shellfish and fish ceviche are also available.  Be aware that the shellfish or fish will not be cooked in the traditional manner.  The citrus juice in the salsa is said to “cook” the fish.  If you have concerns about eating uncooked fish, go with the shrimp version, which is cooked.

Things to See

If you want to browse for souvenirs, visit Mercado de Artesanias, an outdoor flea market in the Chipipe area of Salinas, where you can buy a variety of Ecuadorian handicrafts.

To get a glimpse of days gone by, visit the Museo de Sumpa.  This small, but well thought out museum features exhibits of artifacts from the early residents of the Santa Elena peninsula, including the Las Vegas culture.  It also features a Las Vegas burial site of the “lovers of Sumpa,” mummified remains of two people that appear to have died in an embrace.  You can also tour a cane dwelling typical of those built by the early settlers.

Enjoy a relaxing evening drive a few miles across the Santa Elena peninsula to the Punta Carnero beach, where you can see some of the most beautiful sunsets in Ecuador.  On your way back to Salinas, pass by the Malecon of La Libertad and stop for an evening stroll.

Whether dining, sunsets or beach activities are your idea of a fun time, you will find it in Salinas.

Gerardo & Amy Pinoargote spend their time between their home in Florida and Salinas and together with relatives are building and managing Spondylus II, a small beachfront development in the Costa de Oro area of Salinas, about 2 miles from the Malecon.

This is an area they like due to its privacy, great beach for walking, sunbathing and water sports. Yet it is just a short ride to dining and shopping in the central area.

Spondylus II  is a family business consisting of three towers. Tower A1 is sold out, except for a ground floor ocean front 1000 square foot unit. Several one and two bedroom suites are still available in tower A2, priced from $49,500 to $50,500.

Larger 1300 square foot units are also still available, priced under $110,000. Tower B has just been release for sale and features larger units (1400 – 1500 square feet), in the $120,000 – $135,000 price range.

Spondylus II offers the following amenities… beachfront pool & social area, a workout center, 24 hour security and the Pacific Ocean as a front yard.  All units feature granite kitchen counter tops, tile floors, tile baths, inset ceiling light fixtures and wooden kitchen cabinets.

Now it is possible to see Salinas like a local with Amy and her husband acting as your hosts and guides.

Amy and Gerardo Pinoargote will conduct four Ecuador southern coastal real estate tours for us on the following dates.

Mar 28-29. 2010
May 28-29, 2010
Sept 20-21, 2010
Nov 22-23, 2010

On this tour you can get to know Salinas property and the real estate along the beaches north of Salinas.

This is an opportunity to view more than a dozen properties and get tips from experts who are living in this area right now.  You save time, risk and zero in with help from those “in the know”.

The tour makes your real estate investigation efficient and productive but also allows time for relaxing in the evenings and enjoying the beaches.  Plus as you’ll see in a moment could save you thousands should you ever decide to buy in this area.

Here are a few of the properties you’ll see:

•    New 2 bedroom condo located directly on a tranquil beach in popular Salinas… $55,000.

•    3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with ocean views in the most popular complex in Olon…. $100,000.

•    Large house on a ¼ acre lot near Montanita, complete with basketball court, ample parking and caretaker’s cottage that could be a bed & breakfast… $250,000.

Here is an example of the type of Salinas coastal beach condos for sale you’ll see. This was viewed on the October Ecuador South Coast Real Estate Tour.

This is a property on the tour where the tour operator is offered a 2% discount to Ecuador Living subscribers who are on the tour.

Amy Pinoargote who led the tour wrote:   This is a 5 bedroom townhouse for resale in Spondylus I.  It is listed at $79,000.  It is a small complex with cobblestone streets and a nice pool area.  It is about 1/2 a mile from the beach, conveniently located to shopping.

Here is a Salinas Ecuador coastal update sent to us by Amy Pinoargote.

salinas-picture

Ecuador is known for the Galápagos Islands, the Andes Mountains and the Amazon Jungle.  Did you know that it is also home to the westernmost point in continental South America – the “Chocolatera,” at the tip of the Santa Elena Peninsula in Salinas?

This carries strategic significance. During the World War II era it was home to an American military base.  Now it is occupied by the Ecuadorian armed forces.  However, that doesn’t mean that it is closed to the public.  Visitors simply need to check in at the main gate, where they are asked to leave their driver’s license with the guard.  It will be returned when you check out.  Don’t be alarmed that the guards wear fatigues and carry guns.  Keep in mind that this is normal dress for a military base.

There are no signs or billboards announcing that you have arrived as far west as you can go.  Instead follow signs for the Chocolatera.  You will know you have arrived when you see a black and white lighthouse.  In Spanish chocolatera refers to the container used to make hot chocolate, which is whisked until foamy.  It is said that the waves crashing against the rocky shoreline look like the foam on top of hot chocolate.

salinas-picture

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes.  The terrain is rough and rocky.  Pay attention when you venture towards the edge.  Large waves can suddenly top the cliffs and could even knock you off your feet.  The Ecuadorians say, only half in jest, that if the fall onto the rocks below doesn’t kill you, the sharks lurking in the area will.

Before leaving the base, travel a short distance east from the Chocolatera to the Mar Bravo beach.   It is marked with a sign and lined by a row of tiki huts on the sand.  Surfers say this is the place to find the best waves in Salinas.   This secluded beach is also the perfect spot for a stroll or just to relax and enjoy the sound of the surf.

salinas-picture

During the Ecuadorian winter (North American summer) the rocky outcropping at the eastern end of Mar Bravo beach becomes home to a group of sea lions.

salinas-picture

You will get the best view from the elevated observation area.  And be sure to take your binoculars or use the zoom on your camera to get a closer look.

No matter what time of year you visit Salinas, make sure to include the Clocolatera in your itinerary.

Six Pack… 6 seminars courses & tours  $2,199 Couple $3,099 Save $795 single or $1,395 on a couple or more

These four new south coast tours and our six pack tour price create a bit of a crisis here.

As you can see above a six pack costs $3,099.  This is already a really low price for a tour that last up to 21 days (under $150 a day).

But as you will see below, our International Club membership which allows you and a guest to attend up to 56 courses and tours in 2010  (fees would be $40,947 for all these courses individually) is only $2,999.

Which would you choose… 6 courses and tours for $3,099 or those same 6 courses and tours plus 50 more for $2,999?

“Duh,” I said when this was pointed out to me.

So our only solution is to raise the International Club membership to $3,500… still a terrific deal… but $501 more than before.

Save $37,457…plus $501.  I will not raise the International club fee until January 2010. Enroll in the International Club now at the original fee of $2,999.

Economic turmoil today will create more future prosperity then ever before…for those….who accept change and adapt.

This is why we bring together experienced, like minded souls, who take a positive view and think outside the box..in a constructive…thoughtful way.

Merri and I are in our 41st year of organizing courses, seminars and newsletters about international and quantum lifestyles.

The importance of this sharing…by like minded souls…was reinforced when a delegate from a course sent an email that said:

My Dearest Merri and Gary, Thank you for your most gracious hospitality last weekend. I am just thrilled at being a part of your group. You and Gary were exactly as I imagined you to be, warm friendly, kind, considerate, genuine, helpful, fun, sincere, what else can I say……I felt so comfortable in your presence and learned so much in your course. I was sad to leave the farm that Sunday afternoon. You made us all feel so welcome and cared about.

You were so kind to make arrangements for a ride with the other delegates from the Charlotte airport. They were so nice to me and so helpful, by the time the weekend was over I felt like they were my long lost brothers. Monday morning we all had breakfast at the airport together and I was so sad to see them go, I was sad the weekend was over, perhaps sad is not the right word for how I was feeling perhaps Gratitude is a better way to describe it. Grateful for having the opportunity to share the weekend with such wonderful, like minded Human Beings, in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Thank you Merri and Gary…………..Thanks to you I now have new hope and a new direction to move forward in my life. Thanks to you I am so ready to move to Ecuador and begin a new life. I just have to figure out what I am going to do and how to do it……… I know by attending your classes and conferences that through education and due diligence I will make the right choices.

This delegate’s comments about “belonging and feeling like a brother” to the other delegates is a wonderful refrain we have heard from our readers, year after year.

This why I want to share how you can attend 56 of our investment, business, Spanish, real estate and export, courses, tours in 2010 worth $40,947.

20 years ago Merri and I created a way that readers can join us to be immersed in a year-long learning program through our International Club.  The ideas behind this program began 21 years ago in Vienna, Austria while we were conducting a course there. One of our older delegates, had some sort of attack. The first fear was heart trouble. Several delegates took him to the hospital. Others stayed with him there. I don’t think that delegate was alone for a minute!

What impressed Merri and me was that no one asked the delegates to help this man. The friendships of delegates sharing many courses had just grown so strong that it was a natural reaction, just as if a family member was ill. Fortunately, it was only travel fatigue and the delegate didn’t miss a session of the course!

When you join our International Club 2010 you become part of a special family. The very first member to join the club all those years ago wrote,

“Thank you for the enjoyable and informative courses. I am pleased to be part of your international family and look forward to continuing my education at the next course.”

His feeling struck a familiar chord. It has always been one of my greatest satisfactions to see how much fun delegates have getting together, sharing information and making friendships. These courses somehow draw together like-minded souls. For this reason some delegates come back again and again. They come to learn, but also to be with their many friends made at the courses.

When like-minded souls get together again and again to discuss a common purpose, magic happens! I can’t explain it in any other way-but it is true. In a way our meetings are almost like family reunions. Perhaps it is getting together and reflecting on what has been said and what has been happening. Learning with those who are also interested in the world creates thoughts that multiply the value of what we gain. This is hard to describe but results are most powerful and wonderful!

This is to me is as important as the great financial benefit of attending 52 courses that would cost $40,947 if all booked separately.

See why and our 2010 schedule below.

We started and have continued this program for 20 years because there are wonderful benefits from having repeat delegates at courses. Having repeat delegates makes the whole course somehow more exciting for all. Being a repeat delegate makes it easier to make and keep wealth and to lock in the knowledge you gain. It’s an exciting lifestyle. We have fun, gain adventure, discovery and friendships and share ways to improve our health and wealth!

We have more than doubled our courses in 2010… 56 courses and tours, two in the Blue Ridge of North Carolina, three in Central Florida and the balance in Ecuador.  Few club members actually attend every course and tour…  but you can if you desire. If you attend even a few of the courses, you gain considerable savings.

For those not interested or unable to visit Ecuador, we have our North Carolina courses in the summer when it is cool here in the Blue Ridge Mountains and don’t forget the autumnal beauty in October…. plus in Florida during the winter.  Each US course is attached to an Ecuador tour so you gain information in the US and then travel with others to Ecuador for experience (if you desire).

Here are the 56 courses and tours you can attend free. Plus there is even one more savings you will see below.

You may well wonder why I would make such an offer and ask why the cost is so low? Let me answer this question frankly and from the heart.

First, it helps us do a better job for you. We feel greatly enriched when we can really help our clients improve their lives. We have learned through years of experience the best way to do this is to meet with you regularly. We can best help you learn how to improve your health and wealth through continual expansion of knowledge.

Second, we gain enormous fulfillment from the many friendships we form through the years. Our friends have enriched our lives tremendously. Let me explain this in more detail.

As a member, you will be part of our international family that meets intensively over the next year to examine ways we can make our lives better. Our goal is beyond just having money. Our goal is to have quantum wealth… good health… wealth and fulfillment through service.

Though I give all course delegates my very best, I cannot help but to do a better job for those who come again and again. As we meet often; your particular wants, needs and desires become clear, and it is easier for me to point you in the right direction.

Another phenomenon is that repeat delegates help each other! They get to know one another, help each other learn, share their insights, make contacts and gain more wealth.

Out associates in Ecuador, are experienced business people who live or work and conduct our real estate and export courses.  They can also act as your local backup for the business.

Lifestyle for Two. There is more! I have learned at my courses that many repeat delegates were couples.

We want couples! As a member of the program, you are entitled to bring another person to every single course or tour. The cost for that extra person will be ZERO!  You can bring whomever you wish. Bring your spouse, a friend, son or daughter, partner, accountant, adviser. You can bring the same person each time or a different person, whomever you choose to accompany you. (Accommodations and air fares relating to the courses are not included for members, delegates or their guests.)

Won’t you join us in this exciting club and share Merri’s and my lifestyle for the next year? We look forward to seeing you at as many courses as possible and sharing this wonderful world of abundance and well being with you!

Selling Your US Property for Ecuador

Here a thought on selling your US property so you can buy real estate in Ecuador… or just to get your US place sold.

One of the most frequent notes I receive from people wanting to move to Ecuador… or move at all or receive debt is… “I’ll do it as soon as I sell my place.”

There are some great property deals in Ecuador.

For example these adobe homes are…

ecuador-cash

about 1,500 square feet. This is a shot Merri took last September of me with the builder Jorge Quilambaci. Here is the front yard of this house.

ecuador-cash

The have nice interesting designs and…

ecuador-cash

are roomy… but…

ecuador-cash

the asking price is only $85,000.

That house is probably finished now, yet many people who would like to buy it cannot… unless they sell their US or Canadian house.

Here is a tip that can help you sell your property:  In tough buyer markets, we have to be creative by spotting distortions.

Here is a true story of how I helped a developer take advantage of distortions during the 1970s economic crunch.

This developer was a Brooklyn Boomer, and at that time a young real estate developer who got into international fund raising to save his neck.

He was sharp, intelligent and successful and in the 1970s he stumbled onto an exciting real estate idea that was bringing him great profits. Manhattan real estate prices were rising strongly in the 70s. The boomer saw that young professionals his age (late 20’s and early 30’s) could no longer afford to live in the better parts of this exclusive island.

He knew they needed to be close to town for their profession, wanted lots of room to raise their families and liked living in a nice setting with good architectural design and all the conveniences of modern living. He filled these needs by converting warehouses in Brooklyn into attractive and spacious condominium living units. The idea worked very well. The warehouses were only short blocks from very nice residential parts of Brooklyn and were capable of providing many large living units. This man’s business prospered and soon he started an even bigger project and then another. He was doing really well.

Then the economy bombed the boomer.  He was more than fully committed, over borrowed and needed quick cash to keep his deal going. An oil shortage, a banking crash and really high interest rates were on the verge of shutting him down.  For real estate developers the 1970s recession was almost as bad as now.

The developer was caught in a bind having already borrowed as much as he could based upon his previous successes. His financing was all in short term construction loans that were coming due, and he had to refinance at higher and higher rates.

High interest rates hit him doubly. First, his construction loan rates ruined cash flow and ate potential profits. Even worse the high rates increased mortgage payments so young professionals could no longer qualify for mortgages. His bankers were edgy.

At this stage, he consulted me about raising money from Europeans to tide him through his cash crisis.

At his request, I flew to New York and rode with him to the apartments. They were beautiful, so attractively designed that they had been featured in an architectural magazine. “Just the kind of place Europeans love” was my thought, “but how do we get quick financing?”

Perhaps, I thought that it would be better to sell apartments to Europeans rather than ask for loans!

Owning houses is something Europeans readily understand. They have confidence in owning houses. Making loans and investing in equities are not so much their deals.

So we treated the apartments as the investment and placed small, classified ads in the Netherlands, England and Germany.

Here is why.  Interest rates on the dollar at that time were at all time highs. Plus the U.S. dollar parity was at an all time low versus the British pound, German mark and Dutch guilder. These Brooklyn condos, seemed really cheap, when converted into foreign currency!

We did not try to sell the condos by mail. The sole object of our first ads was to find Dutch, German and English investors who were interested enough in investing in New York, that they would come and look at the condos.

Our sales package was aimed at getting the investors to Brooklyn, not at selling the condos direct. We wanted centers of influence. The marketing package included a copy of the famous architectural magazine showing the condos as well as details about profit potential of the property and the really low price in European and British currency terms. We kept a clear message that we were offering an investment backed by property ownership and that we wanted to meet the buyers and let them see for themselves.

The American buyers who had been buying from the Brooklyn Bomber were buying homes. These Europeans were making an investment which was very different.

We designed a package so the Europeans could buy an apartment, and immediately lease it to an American buyer – with a lease option.

This helped the Americans who wanted a place to live but currently could not qualify for a mortgage. They could immediately move into the house of their dreams and buy it later when they had a larger income (or when interest rates fell).

The lease on the other hand created immediate income for the European investor and the lease option sales price locked in a capital gain for the European.

The Europeans loved this because they earned income now, appreciation later and the entire package was secured by the real estate itself.

This was a win – win deal all made possible by distortions of currency fluctuations. The weak U.S. dollar made this property seem really cheap to Europeans. Yet the weak dollar pushed up oil prices, and interest rates made the condos really expensive for Americans.

One more point can be gained from this Case Study. The developer’s goal was to sell as many apartments to European investors for cash as fast as he could while the distortion remained. Yet we also set up a limited partnership designed for small investors who could not afford to buy an entire apartment. The partnership took title to one condo at a time and sold units of ownership for as little as U.S. $5,000.

This allowed Europeans to own a part of condo and gave the developer investment packages to sell for all ranges of investors. He sold the apartments for $125,000 to $250,000 to single investors, but with his deal could offer a $5,000 investment.

By taking advantage of this distortion this Brooklyn developer did not bomb out!  This gave the Brooklyn Boomer a plan to salvage his tight position then, but also gave him much, much more. Once he had developed a group of real estate investors in Europe he had an entirely new source of financing for the future. As interest rates fell and the leasees began to exercise their options, his European investors saw profits and had extra cash. By developing good will with these investors he maintained a steady source of equity finance that allowed him to outgun other developers in the area.

This led the developer into an international business, with an overseas sales company. He learned how to use the Circle of 100. He paid this sales company generous commissions and built an asset protected cash reserve aboard.

This is a wonderful case where the solution to a short-term problem (that could have bankrupted the developer) created a reliable long-term source of finance, solved his current problem and remained so he could also use it in the future.

He gained a source of money in many currencies and often at competitive interest rates. This source of money was available in good times AND bad, when other developers could not get money at all!

He gained an overseas company with 50% non-U.S. owners so he reduced U.S. tax liability. The assets in this overseas company were also protected from lawsuits and litigation in the U.S.

Distortions in currencies and interest rates around the world can bring an infusion of cash, buyers, different rates of interest, opportunities to reduce tax, eliminate liability. The process can also be a great deal of fun, if you learn how to understand markets abroad and adapt your plans to match the market!

Until then may all you business be good.

2012

Many readers are writing and asking about being in Ecuador in 2012.

2012 is a year according to some interpretations of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar that there will be some huge changes in the world.

There are a variety of popular beliefs about what the change in 2012 will be ranging from a spiritual transformation to some apocalyptic shift.

Interestingly enough 2012 also is the last year of a bear cycle in the 30 year economic/stock cycle we track.

Ecuador-shamans

We have discussed 2012 with a number of Ecuador shamans and they feel that this prediction may be off by several years due to inaccuracies in tracking the movements of the stars. Some even believe the economic upheaval of the last two years has kicked off the shift.

One reader sent this question:

Gary,  This may sound harebrained, but is there any ideal place to be on 12-21-2012?  I’ve read that the Bush family has purchased a large tract of land in Paraguay.

Here is my reply: We have our places in Ecuador, the Blue Ridge of North Carolina and in Florida.  Each could be a positive place.

We hope that the shifts will be positive spiritual shifts not the disaster some predict… and we plan accordingly.

Here is my logic. If we are wrong. If there is an  apocalypse, then no amount of planning can assure that one will be in the right place at the right time. Thus we focus on making our minds, bodies and spirits strong so we’ll do the best we can with whatever comes, good or bad.

Another reader sent this note: Is the 2012 doomsday scenario just a replay of y2k?  Or is it something more?  Apparently, the planets will align.  But are we really part of a galaxy that is tilting into the Milky Way galaxy?  (This presupposes that the Milky Way galaxy is not our galaxy.)  Do you expect serious solar activity?  Is 12-21-2012 going to be a non-event?

I’m very worried about the U.S. economy in 2010.  (Let’s take it a year at a time!)  Many mortgage resets begin in May of 2010 and continue throughout October of 2011.  I think the economy and job losses will get a lot worse, soon.  I don’t know how this will affect the stock market.  Do you have any thoughts on this?

What about the Schiff method of buying stocks of large dividend-paying offshore companies?  As the dividends are repatriated, they will supposedly rise in value as the U.S. dollar continues to fall.  How far will the U.S. dollar fall?  (I’m thinking it’ll find a floor of around 72 on the $USD chart.)

Like you, I have done very well in business.  Now, though, I’m a deer in the headlights of an oncoming train.  I want to preserve capital–that is, purchasing power–but I don’t know the best method. Hope you and Merri are well and continuing to prosper in 2012.

Here is more of my thinking. Life is for living… not scampering around just to prepare for doom.  We should be concerned about imbalances in the world, yes… but not afraid.  We should look for ways to resolve our concerns… in ways that are fun and fulfilling if our fears (as they have so far) turn out wrong.

For example, another reader wrote about the article Intelligent Protection From EMP Terrorist AttackGary; Good article.  I have heard a couple more recommendations.  First, if you have a swimming pool change it to a salt pool, so you can use the water for household use, if the water supply goes off line.  Second, install a natural gas backup generator, as natural gas will flow even if the electrical grid is down. Fritz Biermeier

We do have a pool and this is a great idea… but not because I believe we are going to have a terrorist attack. Salt pools are healthier and easier to maintain… so we had plan to make this conversion for good reasons.   If it is every needed for survival well that’s good as well.

2012

We also have a large generator.

2012

This is not because we believe in a terror attack. Storms here seem to shut the electricity down here.  Last week power was off for much of the day, but… I was still in business.

Do things you want to do anyway that help allay your concerns about 2012. Take steps you’ll be happy to have taken when everything turns out better than before.

I’ll make a bold prediction about 2012.

One of three things will happen.  Life will get worse. Life with get better or life will stay the same.  None of us really know.  There are many reasons why we should have some concerns for the future.  Problems will arise in the years ahead… big and small.  Just remember if you are tuned… physically, emotionally and mentally… problems will become opportunities.

Ecuador Natural Health

Water and gravity play important roles in Ecuador’s natural health philosophy.

Once long ago, I wrote about health in the Andes:

Evening mists rose like white smoke from the dense jungle in tiny cyclones of purity that masked the deep green below. Evening shadows played purple harmonies on sharp angles in a distant mountain ridge while bird songs carried cosmic visions of nature’s perfect order in their tunes. A sun warmed breeze rose from the valley with pungent tales of life and death and the mystic reality of life’s richness in the setting sun.

At that time Merri and I had just returned from living at our Ecuador Andean plantation, Rosaspamba.

I included this picture of our front yard at Rosaspamba:

ecuador-health

The view is spectacular but this photo is significant because the first Ecuador health tip is to use water for better health.  The picture of our front yard is significant because it shows…

ecuador-health

the mists.

The year we lived at Rosaspamba with the Taita Yatchak was an El Nino year… so it rained almost continually.  The Yatchack had us walk in the mists every morning… take a cold shower (there was no electricity so this was not hard) and then dry in the cool open air.

He believed that the negative ions in the mists absorbed free radicals and cleansed us from the outside in.

This was cold but invigorating and refreshing.

Excepts below from an article “Five health benefits of cold water swimming” that our son Jake sent us suggest that immersion in cold water is a health benefit as well.

Jake and I believe in cold water immersion. Here we are one winter in our North Carolina creek!

ecuador-health

Here is the excerpt: If you had to assign one attribute to the kind of people who jump into ice-encrusted lakes for fun, it would probably be: weird. But, if pushed for a second, I bet it would be: healthy.

Overweight, lethargic, bad skin, thin hair. These are not adjectives often associated with those crazy cold water enthusiasts. Try: athletic, youthful and toned with good complexions and lots of energy. So, what’s their secret? What are the real health benefits of regular exposure to cold water and are they available to normal people without masochistic tendencies?

1. Boosts your immune system. For your body, a sudden and drastic change in temperature constitutes an attack – as anyone who’s ever fallen overboard in British waters will concur. And, whilst “attacking” your own body may not sound like a good thing, there is no harm in keeping it on its toes.  In fact, quite the opposite.

Scientists from the Czech Republic immersed witting subjects in cold water for one hour, three times a week and monitored their physiology. They found significant increases in white blood cell counts and several other factors relating to the immune system. This was attributed to the cold water being a mild stressor which activates the immune system and gives it some practice.

2. For an all-natural high

. Winter swimmers talk a lot about the ‘high’ they get from cold water – a feeling of wellbeing that’s so encompassing that it becomes quite addictive (who doesn’t want to feel truly good, at least once a day?). The cause? Endorphins.

Endorphins are the body’s natural pain killers and, in the case of a cold dip, it uses them to take the sting away from your skin. So, to get high on your own supply, all you need to do is jump in a river.

3. Gets your blood pumping
. Being hot brings blood to surface. Being cold sends it to your organs. Both extremes work your heart like a pump. That’s why the whole sit in the sauna, roll in the snow, sit in the sauna thing makes people glow. But why is increased blood flow good for you?

Well, it helps flush your circulation for starters, pushing blood through all your capillaries, veins and arteries.

4. Improves your sex life .
The suggestion of a cold shower might bring forth images of hot-headed young men trying to quell wanton urges but research paints a different picture.

In a study with a similar format to the one described above, participants took daily cold baths and were monitored for changes. In addition to some similar results to their Czech counterparts, these researchers also found increased production of testosterone and estrogen in men and women respectively.

5.  Burns calories. We all know that swimming is great exercise but there are some extra benefits from doing it in the North Sea that you just won’t get from a warm wade in the Med.

Swimming in cold water will make your body work twice as hard to keep you warm and burn more calories in the process.

See the second Ecuador natural health tip in a moment. First let me remind you that you have just four days left to order fresh Ecuador Christmas roses.  See more on how these fair trade roses are sent to you

ecuador-health-roses

The second Ecuador health tip is use gravity to improve your health.

We stayed an entire winter in this tiny bit of virgin jungle living with a yatchak and his apprentices.  Ecuador has its ups and downs but one fact never changes.  The Andes at the equator has special energy.  You can feel it. You can even see it on the scales. You weigh less on the equator because of the earth’s centrifugal force. This aspect of Ecuador seems to add a special health benefit that brings me to the first important Ecuador health tip that Merri and I often use.

The lymph is one of our body’s most important immune and purification systems and it is driven very much by gravity.   The Shamans place importance on the altered state of gravity for improving health.

This brings me to the rebounder, an excellent health tool for those who don’t want to travel to the equator to have their lymph system cleared. The rebounder is a mini trampoline that is amazingly effective for many health purposes.

Modern science has not been able to identify and label the underlying specifics of gravity. Yet we do know that gravity has a major impact on every aspect of our lives. Our bodies in a way are anti-gravity machines. This universal pull has an influence on the movement of our blood, our lymph, our skin and almost every part of our being.

Trampolines have a profound effect on our bodies because they magnify gravity.

Whatever one does on a trampoline, the exercise is compounded by the leverage gained through the kinetic energy stored in the springs (on the way down). This energy is pushed back through the body (on the way up) and can have enormous health benefits in many ways. Some use rebounders to increase strength, (every exercise on a trampoline gives you extra effect because of this leverage), but many including Merri and me use it just to exercise our lymph systems. This requires only 12 minutes a day of the lightest bouncing (your toes should not even leave the trampoline..just let your heels gradually bounce up and down). Even this light movement magnified by the springs pushes your body from zero gravity (at the top) to 2 g’s (at the bottom). This motion moves the lymph along and strengthens the body’s ability to keep the lymph moving to enhance the immune system.

There are few ways you can gain such a concentrated health benefit for just 12 minutes a day.  I first learned about rebounders more than a decade ago when reading the book the “New Miracles of Rebound Exercise” by Al Carter, which I understand has now sold over a million copies. There are dozens of books on the benefits of rebounding ranging from weight loss to muscle tone to curing cancer.  Links to details about this book and 20 others about rebounding are below.

A simple easy lymphatic cleansing bounce does not require much expense.  Merri and I purchased our rebounder at Wal Mart and it has lasted for years.

If you are going to do more than a simple lymphatic bounce, I recommend reading some books on the subject, or speaking with your health care provider  as trampolines provide leverage.  This means that good moves are better, but also means that bad moves are worse and the risks of injury could increase.

The third heath tip is to keep the body’s energy clean and in balance. The shamans and yatchaks use water to balance energy. This is at a sacred grotto that delegates on our Ecuador shamanic mingo tours visit.

Here is an Ecuador shaman cleansing and balancing a delegate.

Ecuador shamans use herbs and flowers to balance the energetic body.

Ecuador shamans use fire to balance the energy fields and…

smoke.

ecuador-health

Merri and I use all these cleansings when in Ecuador. We also use a more computerized western scientific method of working on our energy in the quantum field.

Our long term friend, Bob Shane, provides a computerized daily balancing with a Harmonic Energetic Balancing (HEB) program.  This program uses 3000 informational patterns to help neutralize everyday stresses so that more reserves are available if bigger real stress issues come along.

These informational patterns are enhanced with fractals and affirmations. They help improve body systems energetic balance and to decrease the energetic effect of pathological patterns in  much the same way that Dr. Emoto changes water molecules with intention.

Bob helps each person create his or her own affirmation so it focuses on specific needs and can be flexible changing whenever situations change.

An easy way to describe this might be from the point of view of a prayer (the affirmations and all other patterns) that is being continuously said for them without being diminished by how the person praying feels or their ability to focus; the computer sends the affirmations thousands of times per second – every time the hard disk goes round.   For more details about HEB contact Bob Shane at shanebob@msn.con

Good health is vital for success, everlasting wealth and happiness and these Ecuador health tips can help us thrive.

This optional, free Quantum Wealth workshop shows how to apply the intelligence to business, investing and lifestyle.

We have blended this method of gaining increased intelligence and super thinking into our Super Thinking + Spanish for many years but now have added this to our international investing and business seminars to create quantum wealth.

There are at least three simple ways to turn on this super thinking ability:  meditation, listening to 60 cycle music and taking Theanine.
These three steps integrate four categories of brainwaves, ranging from beta waves, the fastest of the four different brainwaves to alpha, theta and the final brainwave state, delta. Delta brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency.  Deep dreamless sleep takes you down to the lowest frequency.

When we allow these waves to interconnect freely we gain unimaginable intellect.

Merri and I meditate twice every day to tap into this energy.

Plus we listen to 60 beat ten cycle classical music as we work. You could count the number of times we have missed our meditation routine in the last 20 years on one hand. This helps us enormously.

This type of music, along with deep breathing exercises for relaxation moves the mind into Alpha and deeper states as well.  Health benefits are gained as blood pressure can drop, heart rates slow and the mind becomes calmed.

This is a simple as listening to relaxing Baroque music such as Handel’s Water Music. A few others compositions at this cycle include Corelli’s Concerti Grossi, Op. 6, Violin and Orchestra in No. 2, 8, 5, 9. or J.S. Bach’s Fantasy in C Minor and Trio in D minor or Vivaldi’s Five Concertos for Flute and Chamber Orchestra.

Music has been used for centuries to induce states…babies being lullabyed to sleep, sea chanteys and harvesting songs to ease workers while laboring. Eastern mystics and South American shaman have used music to carry them to unusual states of consciousness.

Your body relaxes and your mind becomes alert in these simple forms of relaxation.

The Soviet psychologist, I.K. Platonov, found it was possible to just use a metronome beating at 60 to enable the mind to take in and hold more strongly.
In choosing a recording of a slow movement, simply check that the tempo is about 60 beats a minute. When a composer writes a piece of music, he indicates the speed at which he wants each of the different movements or segments to be played.

These indications of tempo are generally given in Italian. You will often see them on the different movements of a concerto. For instance, allegro indicates a tempo of around 120 – 168 beats to the minute, andante around 76-108, adagio from around 66 to 76, larghetto 60 to 66 and largo 40-60 beats to the minute. Some performers and conductors may set a tempo somewhat faster or slower than what the composer indicated. To check out the tempo of a recording, be sure it’s at around 60 beats a minute. You can check it with a metronome or against a clock with a second hand. It’s LARGO that we are striving for.

Here is a portion of the music list provided with that study.

Bach, J.S.: Largo from Concerto in G Minor for Flute and Strings. Bach and Telemann Flute Concerts and Aria to The Goldberg Variations.

Corelli, A.: Sarabanda (largo) from Concerto #7 in D Minor.

Corelli: 12 Concerti Grossi op.5

Handel, G.F.: Largo from Concerto #1 in F. Music from the Royal Fireworks.

Telemann, G.: Largo from Double Fantasia in G Major for Harpsichord.

6 Fantasias for Harpsichord Vivaldi, A.: Largo from Winter. The Four Seasons

A third avenue that helps enhance intelligence is Theanine (chemical name: r-glutamylethylamide) one of the chemicals found in green tea. Theanine is used to reduce stress and anxiety without the tranquilizing effects found in many other calming agents. Scientific evidence shows that Theanine stimulates the brain’s production of alpha waves, making the user feel relaxed but alert and not drowsy. It also helps the body produce other calming amino acids, such as dopamine, GABA, and tryptophan. As might be expected from a calming supplement, Theanine may be able to lower elevated blood pressure as well.

Our Quantum Wealth workshop looks at how to use super thinking to tap into deeper intelligence and what to do with this intelligence in business, investing and life.

This course changes the way a person thinks and learns forever.

Then Merri and I along with Thomas Fischer of Jyske Global Asset Management conduct our three day International Business and Investing Course. See more details of this International Investing & Business course here.

Here are what a few people say about our courses.

“Hi Gary & Merri, You two are the BEST!!! Your Seminar was fantastic! I am so excited. I had procrastinated fulfilling my continuing education for my Broker’s License and then just before my surgeries, I realized my expiration date isn’t Nov. 12th – it is Sept 12th. Well, as you can see prior to taking your course I had only completed 3 units of the required 45 units. I thought I would take your course and then complete my remaining 42 units over the next 2 weeks. However, I took one class exam on Saturday night, August 27th. I didn’t even take the cellophane off the required Course manuals until after I saw the two of you today less than 5 hours ago! I used your techniques and completed 39 units of continuing education today. I have now completed all 45 units. All of my test scores were in the 90.6-96% range. My course exam information is listed below. I just wanted to let you know how valuable your course was to me. Thanks again!” Suzy Kurinsky

Hi Gary and Merri,  I wanted to thank you so deeply for a wonderful informative 3 days this past weekend in North Carolina. I learned a lot, was completely stimulated in many realms and found your attitudes, goals and ambitions refreshing and wonderful. So thank you thank you thank you. I was not disappointed. Merri had assured me I would not be and she was right.  I hope to stay in touch and again I thank you so much for the knowledge and life philosophy you shared with us all. Renie

Dear Gary and Merri, We were so excited by all the possibilities that came up at the IBEZ seminar that our 700 mile drive home seemed almost short! My husband and I had an action plan ready to execute as soon as we got home… thanks to the step-by-step guidelines from your webmaster. Thanks for showing us a road map leading into an exciting, profitable future. Priscilla

I would like to thank you and Gary for a wonderful course. We thoroughly enjoyed all the information presented by Gary, Thomas and David. And we thank you for your hospitality with having us to your lovely “piece of paradise” in North Carolina. The lunch was delicious and your presentation of import/export items was quite interesting. We look forward to visiting Ecuador in September of 2010. And we look forward to visiting and staying at your hotel in Cotocatchi. Thank you again for a truly life changing and life enhancing weekend. And we also wish your loved ones a speedy recovery and good health. Best regards, Randy

Dear Gary and Merri:  We so enjoyed attending the IBEZ Seminar this past weekend in Jefferson, NC.  We loved the high country area, the nice people we met and particularly enjoyed the visit and tour of the New River Winery. We had a long drive home on Sunday and were sad that we had to leave and not be able to join you and our group for lunch at your farm and sad that we missed Merri’s cooking.  We hope someday in the future we may have the opportunity to visit your property as we heard it is quite beautiful.  Besides all of the relevant information, your emphasis on honesty and the importance of not be deceptive was reassuring.  The bottom line is, that what gave real value to the information we were receiving and what made us feel comfortable was, that we felt you, Thomas and David were all people of good character.  Something that is very important to us.  Thank you, Gary and Merri, for providing a wonderful Seminar.  Mike

Ecuador Shamans & Pyramids

Ecuador shamans often visit pyramids built in Ecuador.

Yesterday Blaine Watson began began his two day course that will be followed by an Ecuador shaman tour.

We began Blaine’s course with a a tele conference and  spoke to the group about Quantum mechanics… about Dan Brown’s new book… “The Lost Symbol” that explains how America’s founding fathers used astrology in many ways including how and when to set the cornerstone of the White House.

We also talked about the irony of science and human knowledge. During George Washington’s era or perhaps a bit before… had I suggested that I could sit in Florida and see and be seen and hear and be heard instantaneously by a group of people in Ecuador, I might have been burned at the stake for witch craft.  Yet astrology then was a common tool of knowledge.   Today we take tele conferences for granted… yet many equate astrology  with witchcraft.   Funny isn’t it?

Blaine sent this report:

I reached Ecuador last night and arrived in Cotacachi after midnight.  The sun is shining very brightly this morning so it is not possible to sleep in in spite of the time zone difference.  I never cease to be attracted to the beauty of this country, the volcanoes, even in the dark, blue in the full moon light and reaching for the sky, the quietness of the countryside, the openness of the faces and the relatively stress free eyes.

The first three photos are taken from the balcony outside my door at Meson de las Flores.

ecuador-pyramids

Gary has many more beautiful shots of this area in his newsletter but this is what I see when I look out.

ecuador-pyramids

I am up on the 3rd floor so it is very pretty.

ecuador-pyramids

The town of Cotacachi is a primarily indigenous town situated between two volcanoes. I have written of this before and how sacred it is here at the center of the earth.

Mid afternoon yesterday I joined Bonnie Keough (who will guide the shaman tour after my course) to visit Cochasqui.

Gary had been telling me about this for a while now. It is an ancient pyramid site, pre-Incan, which was discovered only as recently as 1962. There are 15 pyramids ranging from small to large.  Five of these Ecuador pyramids still have the dirt ramps leading up to the top platform. What I was not able to find out is whether the ramps were part of the original construction or put there when the people who built them covered them with earth to hide them from the Incans.

The significance of this place is astronomical, literally.   Two of the pyramids that have been partially excavated were the lunar and solar pyramids.  All of the pyramids are constructed of fired volcanic earth rather than stone.

ecuador-pyramids

The top platform of the solar and lunar pyramids are covered with a 3-4 inch thick ceramic calendar, circular in shape. There is a lunar calendar at the top of the lunar pyramid.

ecuador-pyramids

Lunar calendar.

There is a solar calendar for the solar pyramid.

ecuador-pyramids

Solar calendar.

This is the largest solar calendar in the Americas.  The site is located at 0 degrees 0 minutes and 3 seconds of latitude so virtually on the equator.

Because of the relative physical stillness of the location, no centrifugal force or precessional movement, it must have been very easy to observe the stars clearly. The pyramids are at an altitude of over 9,000 ft.  From here you can see Cayambe (more on this in a second), Quito and virtually all of the major volcanoes in the region. The site was the capital of the people who lived in the area and the most important period of the years from what I was able to understand was the Spring Equinox.

The llamas in the photos are part of a herd of lamas that was grazing there.

ecuador-pyramids

This is a photo of one of the larger pyramids.

I was curious about the meaning of Cochasqui as there is no lake nearby at all. in Quichua, the indigenous language, Cocha means lake. I have sent out photos before of Cuicocha, the lake of the gods which is near here, about 20 minutes away.

The word Cocha is contained in the name Cochasqui. Yet there is no lake at Cochasqui.  It means the Lake of the Stars.  From here you can see the ocean of the sky.  So it means the Lake of the Stars brought here to earth. For an astrologer this is a bit like coming home.

I have yet to get to Cayambe which is very close by as well. You can see why this place is so sacred,  About 40 minutes from here, perhaps midway between Cotacachi and Cochasqui, is a place called Cayambe. Here at this spot you can see all of the stars of the northern and southern hemispheres simultaneously.  It gets cloudy at night so far so I have not been but if there is a clear night I will go for sure.
So, literally, a very heavenly place
.

Ecuador Shamanic Way

The Ecuador shamanic way is a good one… just like so many other powerful spiritual… and health philosophies.

ecuador-shamanic-way

This Ecuador Shaman is a Cotacahi Yatchak.

Merri and I thank the many of your who sent your condolences to Merri for her loss of her brother.  Your kind words were a salve on our souls.  We were also comforted by the Ecuador shamanic way and their philosophies on endings.

One Ecuador shaman once shared the thought that one problem in the Western world is that the culture does not honor endings.

So we took time last week to grieve and honor the end of an era in Merri’s life.

Because we were not answering emails this last week… we have extended the November multi-course discount until December 10, 2009.  If you are planning to join us for a tour, see more about this here.

Many delegates who arrive in Ecuador are surprised to learn that the root of the Andean language Quichua is Sanskrit, a classical language of India.  There are many  Andean Indian connections… such as rites of purification and during this last week we rested in a quiet time of transition and peace…with Panchakarma.

In a moment I’ll share a wonderful Ecuador shamanic purification recipe. First, more on Panchakarma.

Herbal oils flow, soothing ointment, tactile and warm on the skin. The soft quietness in a heated room. For 7 years Merri and I spent weeks at an Ayurvedic spa in Lancaster, Massachusetts where three medical directors, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. John Douillard and Dr. Jay Glaser helped us dramatically improve our health with Panchakarma.

Panchakarma is a purifying therapy that works through the metabolic process… a specialized massage with herbalized oils and pastes, steam, food and herbal medicines.  It is used to root out deep seated chronic disease as well as correct seasonal imbalances by eliminating wastes from the body. Pancha means five and Karma means action. So Pancha Karma means five types of actions or techniques each a different form of elimination therapy.

This is the most enjoyable way I have ever experienced to clean up the system and Merri and I took panchakarma every six months for many years.

Having missed this for a couple of years we found it delightful to clean up and rebalance our systems again.  Now there is an opportunity to enjoy this incredible health benefit in a most wonderful place to be… Alachua… Smalltown USA.

Many readers have asked Merri and me what we do to have energy and good health. Our lifestyle program is aimed at helping us stay young, healthy and vital through seven practices. Our disciplines have been developed over 35 years of study while traveling and living in Asia, Europe, the Amazon and the Andes as well as in the U.S. We utilize our own blend of information, garnered from healers, shamans, scientists, physicians, spiritual and philosophic leaders, that has evolved over long usage of trial and error. The seven practices deal with:

#1:  Consciousness

#2:  Nutrition

#3:  Exercise

#4:  Purification

#5:  Rest

#6:  Ritual

#7:  Growth

We enjoyed an intensive five day purification program. This message shares our recent experience of PK at the Ayurveda Health Retreat.

There is a saying that man can achieve the impossible, but cannot overcome the inconvenient. This has been true for us regarding this excellent rejuvenative treatment. All the panchakarma centers we knew were far away from where we now live and had become just darn inconvenient or they had become very expensive.

We knew that one of our friends and long time readers, Richard Masla, owns the Ayurveda Health Retreat just a short distance from Mt. Dora and our new Florida home.  We have been trying to get to the retreat for a year but between the growth of our business, my mother’s off and on hospitalization all year and various other events, we missed on several attempts in 2009.   So, though it is not normal to take Panchakarma in times of grieving we took last week to have Panchakarma at Richard Masla’s  Ayurveda Health Retreat.

Panchakarma works on the tridosha principle… that the body has three aspects- fire, water and air. Good health comes when they are in balance.  Ecuadorian shamanic healing embraces a similar philosophy… balancing sun, wind, earth  and water.

The importance of purification is to rid the body of toxicity so nature’s energy can flow properly within.

Modern science has also leaned this way based on the thoughts of a 1970’s Nobel prize winning physicist, Ilye Prigogine. He had shown that all that is necessary for non-equilibrium systems to create order out of chaos is the influx of energy.  The simplest and most elegant example of this is when he put a thick, viscous fluid in a beaker and put it over a source of low heat. As expected, after awhile the fluid at the bottom rose to the top, cooled, and sunk to the bottom, at first in a haphazard way. But with time, if the beaker and heat distribution was symmetrical, the rising and falling fluid would create convection cells, with a smooth laminar flow. Eventually you could look at the top of the beaker and see a dozen perfectly polygonal columns surfacing at the top where the rising fluid turned around. Symmetry and order had been created out of a chaotic fluid.

The ingredients of this system are #1: the beaker – (water/earth)…  #2: a source of energy (fire)… and #3: a flow of material (air). These are the requirements of a living system, because biological systems are essentially structures that create and maintain order amid chaos. Viruses, bacteria, amoebas, fungi, ferns, trees, insects and mammals all contain these three ingredients: (1) a physical structure or channel through which (2) flows a material due to (3) the release of energy.

In a nutshell, we take in food, we move it via channels throughout the body where it gets burnt to release its energy which we then use to maintain order (keep our temperature constant, repair tissues, seek shelter, etc.). Health is simply a matter of keeping this basic process in balance.

The ancient Vedic rishis (seers) also observed this biological phenomenon and recognized the same 3 elements: an element of movement or flow, vata (air); the release of energy or metabolism, pitta (fire); and the structure, kapha (water).  They recognized that disease was a dysequilibrium between these three physiological operators called the three doshas.

For example, vata, being movement or transport in the body, is like the wind: light, cold and always moving or shifting. Vata governs elimination, nervous system activity and locomotion. If imbalanced, vata creates a drying, cold, brittle and irregular influence. Think of a tree at high altitude, exposed to the wind and cold. It grows up dry, brittle, cracked, and irregular in shape. Vata dosha has an similar influence on our physiology, and vata imbalances include osteoarthritis and osteoporosis (dry, brittle joints and bones), insomnia and anxiety (excessive and irregular movement in the mind), constipation (irregularity and internal dryness) and aging. There are many ways to aggravate vata in your constitution, but one of the best is to take on excessive activity, staying up late, and keeping irregular hours.

Pitta dosha, being metabolism or transformation of energy, is by nature hot, red, sharp and penetrating. When imbalanced it expresses itself as inflammation or heat, so any disease ending in -itis (meaning inflammation) is generally a pitta disorder. Hot flashes, heartburn, rosacea and most other skin disorders are also due to aggravated pitta.  Spicy or sour foods, overheating exercise, anger and frustration are examples of causes of pitta aggravation.

Kapha dosha governs the fundamental quality of structure in the physiology, so its nature is solid, stable, heavy and inert. When aggravated (or increased out of proportion), kapha manifests as obstruction as well as heaviness or swelling. Sinus congestion, obesity, diabetes, and edema are examples of kapha disorders.

One important principle of Ayurveda called the law of similars and opposites states that the presence of a quality in one’s life or environment increases the effect of that quality in the physiology; opposite influences decrease the effect of a quality. Health can be maintained or restored by using this principle to structure a balanced routine and environment. In other words: eat heat, get heartburn; eat fat, get fat. If something is dry and brittle, it needs to lubricated and nourished. This sounds so simple, but I am sometimes amazed to see how we fail to grasp this concept.

Ayurveda is a delightful science, because the ancient texts describe the effect of nearly every environmental or dietary influence in our lives on our natural state of equilibrium: different kinds of drinking water, fruits and vegetables, even 215 kinds of meat. The texts describe what to avoid or favor to treat chronic disorders and make it easy and motivating for us to follow the proper program. For vata, naturally, we take warm, rich, nourishing food. Pitta disorders need a cooling influence. Kapha disorders are the least fun to manage, because they are helped by habits that require deprivation and austerity: light diets, more exercise, less salt.

One of the premier Florida retreat centers that offer traditional Ayurvedic medicine and panchakarma treatments is the Ayrveda health retreat.

Since truth is truth it is not surprising that we find similar philosophies for health all over the world. Whether our forefathers had great communion on the physical plain or through a unity of consciousness, health philosophies I have studied over the world over 40 years all agree that humanity exists on a temporary physical plain and an eternal spiritual existence.

We are all connected on that spiritual plane, animal, vegetable, even mineral and when we cleanse the body so the energy of this spiritual existence can rise, our health improves as we become more aware of our connections to all things.  This is the Ecuador shamanic way.

Cotacachi Real Estate Progress

Cotacachi real estate has a new positive bent.

One benefit of Cotacachi real estate is the beauty of Mt. Cotacachi and Mt. Imbabura.

cotacachi-real-estate

Mt. Cotacachi towering above the village.

Ecuador-real-estate

This rich agricultural land provides the community well.  Yet their beauty contains a weakness as well.  The splendid views are wonderful as Ma and I know as we hike these mountains often.

cotacachi-real-estate

Yet the views have attracted developers who can create a commercial benefit by building houses and condos on this agricultural land that has been used by the indigenous to farm and graze for millennia.

A reader recently sent this note about the recent article at our site, Ecuador Real Estate Search:

Gary, I came… I saw… I conquered.  The phrase is not “I conquered over the internet and then flew down”.

The biggest most important factor is first to come… The second is to look and see.   Then conquer.

The Shamans haven’t seemingly influenced the western need to conquer, and one can see from the architecture in the new buildings that the old western mind is still very much intact, and unchanged.  God help Ecuador survive the western mind and invasion.

This reader has a good point. Conquered is not a very good word and that word and the romantic cultures have clung to this cultural concept since they were uttered, the Spanish, the British, the French and now the North Americans.

Adapt and evolve might be better words and philosophies for the world’s good.

Technology and population growth pretty well assure further integration of the global economyand this is good… if  we learn the best from one another.  Share ideas and ideals.  Enhance and respect one another’s cultures as we merge.

Merri and I feel strongly about this and though we have done a lot  (the growth of humanity will cause a continuation of the evolution of the global market) to introduce North Americans to Ecuador, we overtly and subtly work hard to make the integration a better one than the Europeans had in North America.

In the thirty years we have lived abroad, Merri and I have never lived with other Americans. We lived in the local community and always felt our horizons broadened.  Plus we hope we enhanced our neighbor’s lives as well.

As more and more of our readers settled in Cotacachi, we began working with Cotacachi elders several years ago to bring the locals and expats closer together.  Our first effort was support of the Cotacachi World Football Cup (what the elders suggested attracted the greatest number of local population).

One of our efforts in this way has been worry over developments on the agricultural hills above Cotacachi.

There are at least three such developments I know of and we have long feared that this type of developments could create problems with the indigenous community.

The warnings are now coming to fruition.  Recently there was a meeting in Cotacachi due to concerns about water rights and pollution created by these developments.  Last week the community met for the first time regarding concerns of developments in the agricultural lands above Cotacachi.

Our events coordinator, Alberto Verdezoto, attended the meeting and reports:

Sr. Gary,   I went to the meeting of the mayor and representatives of different communities around Cotacachi.  Some people have started asking the new administration in Cotacachi, what they will do about the expat growth.

The answer given was that the administration will protect the environment and provide support to the poorest, support to ecotourism and viability.

The mayor gave a historical overview of the whites and how for many years they discriminated against the comunidades (local indigenous), but today there is good cross-cultural exchange among the mestizo and indigenous.

The City Council reported that they have been having very informal meetings among themselves, about the positive and negative of the arrival of foreigners, who are coming to live in Cotacachi and surrounding areas.

The main concerns of the municipality are:

That foreigners are located in rural areas, close to the city.

The people living in Cotacachi and communities are concerned, because foreigners buy land at high prices and thus Cotacachenos and the natives may not in future buy back a property. These high prices, harm families planning for a future purchase.

The sale by farmers of land at high prices affects the social-economic harmony and and the appearance of the indigenous worldview.

The mayor also stated that the government has a land acquisition program, for awarding the Indigenas, that they are engaged in agriculture, but as farmers sell their land at high prices, this interferes with this program.

He also stated that the previous administration, did not plan for the arrival of foreigners in Cotacachi.  He said that the municipality has the power to create municipal ordinances to protect the good life of all citizens, both local and foreign and planning controls and even prohibit development projects affecting the social, economic and cultural development of the area.

He talked about how the property taxes that are being charged are very low, but these will be revised according to economic facts based on water, electricity, telephone costs.

The municipality is conducting a territorial reorganization plan, to plan for better integration of land use. He also suggested creating an office of appraisals to help people who want to buy property, so they know the real value of the property. This he suggested could help stop price gouging.

There will see future meetings with municipal authorities, representatives of the local communities and new residents to  address these issues and create projects for better integration of the cultures,

Regards,  Alberto Verdezoto Vallejo

Political and business leaders have spoken with me about these concerns for some time and finally this first public forum can help make everyone aware of these concerns.

Rising Ecuador real estate prices are not rising just because of North American immigration. The wonderful fact is, as the global economy solidifies we can all find it easier to live, work and do business in nice places.  This means that nice places will attract more people and prices will rise.

We see this fact with rising prices in the Blue Ridge.  Many locals complain how we Floridiots (the name given to us Floridians who have moved to the Blue Ridge) have pushed up local prices.

Merri and I watched Naples real estate skyrocket because it was a nice place.  Many old time Neapolitans had to pack up and leave because they could no longer afford the inflated prices.  I lived in London for years and return there often… where real estate prices are among the highest in the world.

Are London real estate prices so high because Londoners who have lived there long term have pushed up prices? Not a chance.  London is a nice place in many people’s view so wealthy people from many other nations buy property in London. This causes the prices to rise.

Ditto for Wales.  The Welsh have long demonstrated and created havoc over the fact that Londoners buy weekend cottages and push their prices up.

This phenomenon is not new. I lived in Hong Kong in the late 1960s and early 1970s and watched real estate demand soar… because for many reasons Hong Kong is a nice place to be.

Ecuador is a nice place and right now prices are low.  This fact will continue to attract Americans, Canadians and we see Europeans, Aussies and Kiwis coming as well.

No one likes inflation… but global government deficit spending, growing global populations and technology make real estate inflation in nice places  a fact.  If the gringos did not come to Cotacachi and buy real estate, the people of Quito would… and in fact they also do.

However it is wise for immigrants in Ecuador or anywhere to respect the local community and merge gently with friendliness, grace, humility and willingness to compromise, adapt and blend in.

In the Imbabura Province cooperating with the indigenous is pretty important.  Many foreign legions have visited these areas we call Cotacachi with just the thought “conquer” on their minds… from the Inca to the Spanish…  and the Japanese (Mitsubishi tried mining there and failed because of local opposition).

The local culture is still here… strong… vibrant… proud.  Thank God!

The Canadian Ascendant Mining Company tried to ignore Cotacachian protests and environmental concerns.  This is the result of their arrogance… the remains of their headquarters.

cotacachi-real-estate

This happened in Chalguayacu Bajo, Cotacachi County, Ecuador, in 2005.   The Ascendant mining camp was completely destroyed,  an act by more than 300 local people from approximately 20 communities from the area.  There were no thefts of company goods. No one was hurt. The people made their will known.

It is our prayer that the many North Americans coming down will take heed and respect and work with the local population.

First, this is the intelligent thing to do.  We drown in health, social and economic problems in North America.   Local Ecuadorian wisdom often offers a better way.  Their food is better… their culture friendly and easy going.    Ecuadorian lifestyles and philosophies have much to offer.

I suspect that North Americans will have to learn to respect Cotacachi’s  wonderful culture the hard way.

Hopefully wisdom, cooperation and the municipality will lead a better way…. but if not there could be some tension.

To ignore and try to impose a new will upon a solid majority is crazy.   The reader mentioned above above wrote: “God help Ecuador survive the western mind and invasion.” So for over the last 500 years, They have done pretty well on their own.

International Investing & Ecuador

International business and investments can enhance profits. We have proven this by sharing ideas on global investing for over 41 years.

Here I am conducting a weekend International Business and investing Course. Just then I was talking about how to have a real global business importing roses (and showing samples just brought in from Ecuador ).

International-Investments

This particular day we invited everyone up to our home. It was crowded but the delegates loved it!

As you can see we are pretty casual at our courses. This may be different than most but this is what we try to share…ways to be different for fun and profit.

International-Investments

I conduct most of our International Investing and business seminar along with Thomas Fischer from Jyske Bank. We cover global economies, markets and currencies.  Here is Thomas speaking to the group.

International-Investments

Plus we talk about exports. Merri started in the export business, bring products from Italy Germany and Mexico.

One day during our seminar we have lunch for afternoon tea at our house.   Here is a group lounging on our front porch In North Carolina.  Delegates were enjoying a great end to a  summer day in the Blue Ridge. One of our horses decided to join in.

International-Investments

Our Appaloosa “Lucy” listens in (or does she want an apple?).

International-Investments

“Blaze” and “Harriet” join the course as well.

We share a lot about international investments and global business over three days.  Delegates love this course and return again and again. I know one in the group was attentive. Ma, our pumpkin patch hound. Now you can see why dogs are called man’s best friend.

International-Investments

Here are what a few of the delegates shared

“Thank you for a wonderful experience. The whole package was great: the informative, stimulating, life-affirming conference that opened our minds to global possibilities; the luscious, natural, wholesome, lovingly-made food that nourished us with God-given energy; the crisp, prana-filled, tree-fed mountain air that reminded us that it is a pleasure to breathe in and connect to our earth, to ourselves; and last but not least, your hospitality. Thank you.”

“Dear Gary and Merri: Please receive my most heartfelt thank you for the wonderful time I spent in NC. The countryside is picture perfect and your farm is an idyllic retreat, with pine tree forests, streams, a lagoon, and the horses and geese to wrap it up. The group was wonderful and very warm to our projects. It couldn’t have gone better. Your friend

”Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. I really enjoyed to be there.  Your conference was excellent. My drive from Jefferson Landing took me 2 hrs 12 min. It was a beautiful one. We (my wife and I) safely arrived to Hungary. When we got here we learned about the Sunday night riots and turmoil. Do not worry about us the country is perfectly safe and calm. This was only a pre election political tactics. However this incident confirms my view about any government. We have to be careful and never trust any government. These recent Hungarian incident proved Gary’s point about diversification and about multi currency and about multi market sandwiches. Thank you very much again”.

“Good Morning Merri & Gary: I sincerely enjoyed the three days spent and was thoroughly motivated by the knowledge imparted during the three days.”

“ Gary, We were pleased to be able to be at the IBEZ seminar this past weekend and we enjoyed it immensely. Thanks once again.”

Ecuador Residence & Triple Protection

Ecuador residence may be good idea for many… but I do not recommend investing everything in Ecuador.

Our recent article Ecuador and the US dollar outlined how I am short the US  dollar via dollar loans and hold euros, emerging currencies and Ecuador real estate.

ecuador-sunrise

The sunshine always shines somewhere.  Sunrise from our condo in Cotacachi.

After reading this, one might wonder why such a spread?

The first book I wrote in the 1970s was “Passport to International Profit”… not “Passport to Ecuador Profit”… not “Passport to US Profit”… not “Passport to European Profit”.

The core message in “Passport to International Profit” was become a one man multinational with a six point command posture which is to:

Live in one country
Bank in a second country
Invest in many countries
Earn in two or more countries
Use a company incorporated in a fifth country
Take a second residence

Let’s take this one step further. To have a fulfilling six point lifestyle posture:

Live in one country you love.
Bank in a second country that is safe and that you really enjoy.
Invest in many countries you would like to explore or feel good about.
Earn in two or more countries you would like to explore or feel good about.
Use a company incorporated in a fifth country that best fits your circumstances.
Take a second residence in a place where you love and want to be.

Merri and I have followed this advice throughout our business career.

ecuador-sunrise

The sun always shines in more than once place.  Sunset from our apartment in San Clemente Ecuador.

We have always had a place in the US…  always in small towns by the way… Naples Florida when it was a small fishing village… Murphy and Lansing North Carolina and now Mt. Dora Florida.

A recent article Smalltown USA Revisted said: Finally we get to revisit Smalltown USA. As Merri and I begin our 42nd year of international investing and business seminars and publishing, we gain great comfort and enthusiasm from the  feel of how our efforts in this last seven year cycle progressed.

First we are excited that in this upcoming seven years we can expand our focus on Small town USA as well as global investing and Ecuador.

I doubt things will get so bad in the US that Merri and I would not want to live there anymore.

ecuador-sunrise

Follow the sun.  Sunrise from our Blue Ridge North Carolina house.

I have options because I am diversified. Yet the options fit my particular lifestyle and do not cost me anything if events where I live, as expected turn out positive.

The US is central to our family.  Our new home in Florida was chosen in part because it is near our eldest grandson who we feel at age seven can benefit from quality time with us.  The US is a country we love and know and as US citizens we have certain rights even if they have greatly diminished.  Plus the US can be a great place to be.

ecuador-sunrise

Follow your sun. Lake County Florida sunset… our newest home.

However Ecuador is wonderful as well. Ecuador is 3 hours and 45 minutes from the US and we enjoy being in Ecuador for many reasons.

Ecuador gives us great weather in the winter and we love the people and the place. Ecuador is not a bunghole we have chosen because  we dislike or fear some other place.  Ecuador is a place we love.

I doubt that things will get so bad in Ecuador that we will not want to live there.  I doubt even more that things will get so bad in BOTH Ecuador and the US that Merri and I could not stay.

There is always something we do not know, sooo…  just in case, here is a photo from my passport.  This is the stamp you get when you are allowed to reside permanently in the UK.

I can always live in the UK and from there, because of European regulations,  I can pretty well live anywhere in the European Union.

Life in Europe would be our third choice.

ecuador-sunrise

The sun does shine in England… as evidenced by this shot our son Jake took near his home in Bristol.

This also fits into our lifestyle.  Merri and I have both lived there for years. We are both multi lingual… me a bit, Merri more than me.  She can get by in Spanish, German or French.  We have children who live in England and expect to have grandchildren living there some day.

Yet if Europe is our third choice…why are euros our first choice currency that is so overweighted in our portfolio?

We do not have to invest in the country where we live.  I believe that the huge US debt and deficits will drag the US dollar down.   I have even less confidence in the Ecuadorian government’s fiscal capability.

Here is the interesting part of my currency choice. I do not particularly like the euro either.

So why so many euros?

The euro to me is the best of several bad choices.

As shown above. The euro represents the biggest economy in the world.  This is one reason for the choice.  The alternatives are BRIC currencies (Brazil, Russia, India and China).  They are represented (and are likely to increase) in the emerging portion of my portfolio.   But I cannot gain enough confidence in these countries to go beyond a 25% weighting.

So the euro wins by default.

I also like the fuddled aspect of European politics… as I do Ecuadorian politics.  Both have so many diverse interests pulling in opposite directions that the political process is slowed.

No government action seems to be much better than efficient bad activity such as we have seen in the US.

We live in a time of incredible opportunity and freedom. There are probably dozens of places where each of us could enjoy living, investing and doing business.  There is no need to look for the one perfect place.  In fact, such a Utopia probably does not exist.

There are however many places like Smalltown USA, Ecuador and Smalltown Europe where one can enjoy living full or part time and gain lifestyle diversification.

Also do not look for the perfect place to live, or the one and only business to do or the best investment of all forever.   Our circumstances and countries, institutions and relations change.

Diversification gives us a greater ability to change too.

The greatest asset for diversification is the ability to earn wherever you live and to keep your investments safe.

This is why we offer our course Tangled Web… How to Have an Internet Business as well as this multi currency service.

A clear mind and sound body is also a vital tool for embracing change which is why we have added an optional, extra day (at no added cost) to our upcoming International Investing and Business course. The one day Quantum wealth workshop looks at how to gain super thinking and better health to assist in making wiser investing and business decisions.

We hope you will join us.

How We Can Serve You

How to Have Real Safety

garyheadshot

There are only three reasons why we should invest.  We invest for income.  We invest to resell our investments for more than we had invested.  We invest to make our world a better place.

We should not invest for fun, excitement or to get rich quick, or in a panic due to market corrections.

This is why the core Pi model portfolio (that forms the bulk of my own equity portfolio) consists of 19 shares and this position has not changed in over two years.  During these two years we have been steadily accumulating the same 19 shares and have not traded once.

The portfolio has done well in 2017, up 22.6%, better than the DJI Index.

motif

However one or even two year’s performance is not enough data to create a safe strategy.

The good value portfolio above is based entirely on good value financial information and mathematically based safety programs developed around models that date back 91 and 24 years.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets developed combining my 50 years of investing experience with study of the mathematical market value analysis of Keppler Asset Management and the mathematical trend analysis of Tradestops.com.

In my opinion, Keppler is one of the best market statisticians in the world.  Numerous very large fund managers, such as State Street Global Advisers, use his analysis to manage over $2.5 billion of funds.

The Pifolio analysis begins with Keppler who continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each major stock market’s history.

Fwd: keppler

Michael Kepler CEO Keppler Asset Management.

Michael is a brilliant mathematician.  We have tracked his analysis for over 20 years.   He continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each stock market’s history.  From this, he develops his Good Value Stock Market Strategy and rates each market as a Buy, Neutral or Sell market.  His analysis is rational, mathematical and does not cause worry about short term ups and downs.  Keppler’s strategy is to diversify into an equally weighted portfolio of the MSCI Indices of each BUY market.

This is an easy, simple and effective approach to zeroing in on value because little time, management and guesswork is required.  You are investing in a diversified portfolio of good value indices.

A BUY rating for an index does NOT imply that any stock in that country is an attractive investment, so you do not have to spend hours of research aimed at picking specific shares.  It is not appropriate or enough to instruct a stockbroker to simply select stocks in the BUY rated countries.  Investing in the index is like investing in all the shares in the index.  You save time because all you have to do is invest in the ETF to gain the profit potential of the entire market.

To achieve this goal of diversification the Pifolio consists of Country Index ETFs.

Country Index ETFs are similar to an index mutual fund but are shares normally traded on a major stock exchange that tracks an index of shares in a specific country.  ETFs do not try to beat the index they represent.  The management is passive and tries to emulate the performance of the index.

A country ETF provides diversification into a basket of equities in the country covered.  The expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund as well so such ETFs provide diversification and cost efficiency.

Here is the Pifolio I personally use.

70% is diversified into Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) developed markets: Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Norway, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

30% of the Pifolio is invested in Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) emerging markets: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The Pifolio consists of iShares ETFs that invested in each of the MSCI indicies of the good value BUY markets.

For example, the iShares MSCI Australia (symbol EWA) is a Country Index ETF that tracks the investment results the Morgan Stanley Capital Index MSCI Australia Index which is composed mainly of large cap and small cap stocks traded primarily on the Australian Stock Exchange mainly of companies in consumer staples, financials and materials. This ETF is non-diversified outside of Australia.

iShares is owned by Black Rock, Inc. the world’s largest asset manager with over $4 trillion in assets under management.

Pi uses math to reveal the best value markets then protects its positions using more math created by Richard Smith founder and CEO of Tradestops.com to track each share’s trend.

We use Smith’s  algorithms that calculate momentum of the good value markets.

dr richard smith

The Stock State Indicators at Tradestops.com act as a full life-cycle measure that indicates the health of each stock. They are designed to tell you at a glance exactly where any stock stands relative to Dr. Smith’s proprietary algorithms.

Kepppler’s analysis shows the value of markets.  The SSI signal indicates the current trend of each stock (performing well, or in a period of correction, or stopped out).

The SSI tells you one of five things:

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.51.59 AM

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.52.12 AM

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.52.22 AM

Akey component of the Stock State Indicator (SSI) system is momentum based on the latest 521 days of trading.  A stock changes from red to green in the SSI system only after it has already gone up a healthy amount and has started a solid uptrend.

How SSI Alerts Are Triggered

If the position has already moved more than its Volatility Quotient below a recent high, the SSI Stop Loss will trigger.  This is an indicator that the position has corrected more than what is normal for this stock.  It means to take caution.

Below is an example of how SSIs work.  This example shows the Developed Market Pifolio that we track at Tradestops.com.

tradestops

Equal Weight Good Value Developed Market Pifolio.

At the time this example was copied, all the ETFs in the Developed Market Pifolio (above) currently had a green SSI.

We do not know when the US market will fall.  We only do know that it will.  We also do not know if, when the US market corrects, global markets will follow or rise instead.

The fact that the Pifilios are invested in good value markets reduces long term risk.

Additional protection is added by using trailing stops based on the 521 day momentum of each stock in the Pifolio.

Take for example the graph below from our Tradestops account that shows the iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF.  This ETF had a green SSI and a Volatility Index (VQ) of 13.26%.  This means the share can move 13.26% before there is a trend shift.

tradestops

iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF (Symbol EWU)

Pi purchased the share at$31.26 and in this example the share was $34.43 and rising.  Tradestop’s algorithms suggested that if the price drops to $31.69 its momentum would have stopped and it would have shifted into trading sideways.   The stop loss price is currently $29.86.  If EWU continues to rise, both the yellow warning and the stop loss price will rise as well.

When the US stock market bull ends, know one knows for sure how long or how severe the correction will be.

When the bear arrives, what will happen to global and especially good value markets?

No  one knows the answer to this question.

What we do know is that the equally weighted, good value market Pifolios have the greatest potential long term and that math based trailing stops can be used to protect against a secular global stock market correction when it comes.

My fifty years of global investing experience helps take advantage of numerous long term cycles that are part of the universal math that affects all investments.

What you get when you subscribe to Pi.

You immediately receive a 120 page basic training course that teaches the Pi Strategy.   You learn all the Pi strategies, what they are, how to use them and what each can do for you, your lifestyle and investing.

You also begin receiving regular emailed Pifiolio updates and online access to all the Pifolio updates of the last two years.  Each update examines the current activity in a Pifolio, how it is changing, why and how the changes might help your investing or not.

Included in the basic training is an additional 120 page PDF value analysis of 46 stock markets (23 developed markets and 23 emerging stock markets).  This analysis looks at the price to book, price to earnings, average yield and much more.

You also receive two special reports.

In the 1980s, a remarkable set of two economic circumstances helped anyone who spotted them become remarkably rich.  Some of my readers made enough to retire.  Others picked up 50% currency gains.  Then the cycle ended.  Warren Buffett explained the importance of this ending in a 1999 Fortune magazine interview.  He said:  Let me summarize what I’ve been saying about the stock market: I think it’s very hard to come up with a persuasive case that equities will over the next 17 years perform anything like—anything like—they’ve performed in the past 17!

I did well then, but always thought, “I should have invested more!”  Now those circumstances have come together and I am investing in them again.

The circumstances that created fortunes 30 years ago were an overvalued US market (compared to global markets) and an overvalued US dollar.  The two conditions are in place again!

30 years ago, the US dollar rose along with Wall Street.  Profits came quickly over three years.  Then the dollar dropped like a stone, by 51%  in just two years.  A repeat of this pattern is growing and could create up to 50% extra profit if we start using strong dollars to accumulate good value stock market ETFs in other currencies.

This is the most exciting opportunity I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I have created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.  I kept the report short and simple, but included links to 153 pages of  Good Value Stock Market research and Asset Allocation Analysis.

The report shows 20 good value investments and a really powerful tactic that shows the most effective and least expensive way to accumulate these bargains in large or even very small amounts (less than $5,000).  There is extra profit potential of at least 50% so the report is worth a lot.

This report sells for $29.95 but in this special offer, you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More” FREE when you subscribe to Pi.

Plus get the $39.95 report “The Platinum Dip 2018” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the last two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80, compared to a ratio of 230 only two years before.

In September 2015, I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2015” about a silver speculation, leveraged with a British pound loan, that could increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The tactics described in that report generated 62.48% profit in just nine months.

I have updated this report and added how to use the Dip Strategy with platinum.   The “Platinum Dip 2018” report shares the latest in a series of long term lessons gained through 40 years of speculating and investing in precious metals.  I released the 2015 report, when the gold silver ratio slipped to 80.  The ratio has corrected and that profit has been taken and now a new precious metals dip has emerged.

I have prepared a new special report “Platinum Dip 2018” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

In 2018 I celebrate my 52nd anniversary in the investing business and 50th year of writing about global investing.  Our reports and seminars have helped readers have better lives, with less stress yet make fortunes during up and down markets for decades.  This information is invaluable to investors large and small because even small amounts can easily be invested in the good value shares we cover in our seminar.

Stock and currency markets are cyclical.  These cycles create extra profit for value investors who invest when everyone else has the markets wrong.  One special seminar session looks at how to spot value from cycles.  Stocks rise from the cycle of war, productivity and demographics.  Cycles create recurring profits.  Economies and stock markets cycle up and down around every 15 to 20 years as shown in this graph.

stock-Charts

The effect of war cycles on the US Stock Market since 1906.

Bull and bear cycles are based on cycles of human interaction, war, technology and productivity.  Economic downturns can create war.

The chart above shows the war – stock market cycle.  Military struggles (like the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Cold War: WW III) super charge inventiveness that creates new forms of productivity…the steam engine, the internal combustion engine,  production line processes, jet engines, TV, farming techniques, plastics, telephone, computer and lastly during the Cold War, the internet.  The military technology shifts to domestic use.  A boom is created that leads to excess.  Excess leads to correction. Correction creates an economic downturn and again to war.

Details in the online seminar include:

* How to easily buy global currencies, shares and bonds.

* Trading down and the benefits of investing in real estate in Small Town USA.  We will share why this breakout value is special and why we have been recommending good value real estate in this area since 2009.

* What’s up with gold and silver?  One session looks at my current position on gold and silver and asset protection.  We review the state of the precious metal markets and potential problems ahead for US dollars.  Learn how low interest rates eliminate  opportunity costs of diversification in precious metals and foreign currencies.

* How to improve safety and increase profit with leverage and staying power.  The seminar reveals Warren Buffett’s value investing strategy from research published at Yale University’s website.  This research shows that the stocks Buffet chooses are safe (with low beta and low volatility), cheap (value stocks with low price-to-book ratios), and high quality (stocks of companies that are profitable, stable, growing, and with high payout ratios). His big, extra profits come from leverage and staying power.  At times Buffet’s portfolio, as all value portfolios, has fallen, but he has been willing and able to wait long periods for the value to reveal itself and prices to recover.

keppler asset management chart

This chart based on a 45 year portfolio study shows that holding a diversified good value portfolio (based on a  good value strategy) for 13 month’s time, increases the probability of out performance to 70%.  However those who can hold the portfolio for five years gain a 88% probability of beating the bellwether in the market and after ten years the probability increases to 97.5%.

Time is your friend when you use a good value strategy.  The longer you can hold onto a well balanced good value portfolio, the better the odds of outstanding success.

Learn how much leverage to use.  Leverage is like medicine, the key is dose.  The best ratio is normally 1.6 to 1.  We’ll sum up the strategy; how to leverage cheap, safe, quality stocks and for what period of time based on the times and each individual’s circumstances.

Learn to plan in a way so you never run out of money.  The seminar also has a session on the importance of having and sticking to a plan.  See how success is dependent on conviction, wherewithal, and skill to operate with leverage and significant risk.  Learn a three point strategy based on my 50 years of investing experience combined with wisdom gained from some of the world’s best investment managers and economic mathematical scientists.

The online seminar also reveals  the results of a $80,000 share purchase cost test that found the least expensive way to invest in good value.  The keys to this portfolio are good value, low cost, minimal fuss and bother.  Plus a great savings of time.  Trading is minimal, usually not more than one or two shares are bought or sold in a year.  I wanted to find the very least expensive way to create and hold this portfolio so I performed this test.

I have good news about the cost of the seminar as well.   For almost three decades the seminar fee has been $799 for one or $999 for a couple. Tens of thousands paid this price, but online the seminar is $297.
