Mindo Ecuador Cloud Forest Opportunity

There is a Mindo cloud forest opportunity for the next .

Merri’s and my Hacienda Rosaspamba is 962 exquisite acres of Ecuador cloud forest near Mindo.

Our home is really remote…down that trail to this point.

We love this land because we can grow everything… from blackberries to grapefruit!

This is why I am happy to send this advertisement and a special offer for the next phase of the Aboretto cloud forest gated community near our Ecuador hacienda from Swen Lorenz who writes:.

Dear Reader,

My name is Swen Lorenz, I am an international investor and author of two investment books. I have been writing about international investing since 2004, with published articles in more than 40 publications in 7 countries. Some of you might have come across my investment blog, www.undervalued-shares.com.

On the surface of it you would probably expect me to live in New York, London, or Hong Kong – or some other major financial capital where banks, hedge funds and investment firms keep their headquarters.

Indeed, I have lived in two of these major capitals and set up a successful fund management company in the third one. Besides that, I have spent my life traveling extensively and have been lucky enough to tick many of the world’s best-known tourist destinations off my list. The Ginza district of Tokyo, the Victoria Falls in Zambia and the amazing landscapes of Patagonia – been there, done that.

Yet, despite all the glitzy destinations that I have often frequented, I’ve lost my heart to a small country in Latin America.  Ecuador.

It’s a place that most people would have a hard time finding on a map. Certainly, this isn’t the country that your average investor would look at. Too remote, too small, and not enough available information. And how would one possibly find local people that you know you can trust to do a good job for you?

These perceptions are going to change over the coming years, driven by developments such as the new international airport in Quito, the unstoppable growth of eco tourism, and the growing affluence among Ecuador’s 12 million people. Ecuador is gradually becoming a credible and attractive place to do business in. As a matter of fact, a friend of a friend has just now started to build a new $10m hotel in Ecuador. He is so confident about Ecuador’s prospects that he is literally betting the farm on it.

The difference between how the country is still perceived by most and what I experience on the ground, couldn’t be any bigger. E.g., the outside world still believes that Ecuador is a risky country to even set foot in (let alone invest in!). Yes, there is the occasional wobbly moment, such as the recent police riot when President Correa dared to cut the pay of over-paid public servants. Yet, these instances are simply a part of a country maturing and the foreign press makes it look like a much bigger deal than it really is – the whole thing was over within a day. I have more than 15 years of experience of investing into emerging markets, and Ecuador is a safer bet than most countries that are peddled by the mainstream investment media. Gary also recently wrote an interesting piece why now is the time to buy in Ecuador.

There are many factors that make Ecuador an interesting investment location to investigate. I have invested quite heavily into the country already, but unusually, I’ve also made this particular investment area my home.

You are probably wondering how this all came about?

What took me to Ecuador?

A few years ago, I came here on holiday. And instead of lazing away on the beach, I ended up starting a school project over here. We entrepreneurs just never stop thinking!

The school was a charity project that since then has helped dozens of Ecuadorian youngsters to improve their job qualifications. We have even had a visit from the UK’s BBC TV. The education arm of the United Nations once sent a representative to inspect the school and they called it “the best such program (they have seen) in Latin America.”

Initially, because of the school project, I came back over and over again.

Every time I came back, I grew to love it more. Now I am essentially ready to not even leave anymore. I have so many friends over here, that the country truly feels like home (and that’s despite me still not being properly fluent in Spanish because it’s so easy to get through with “Spanglish”).

Having traveled the globe, I’ve found Ecuador to be one of the world’s best places to settle in. The people are amazing and quite different from other countries in Latin America (they are the friendliest I have encountered in any country). Prices for day-to-day living are low. That’s on top of the fact that real estate offers great value. And it took me just 21 minutes to get the application for my residency papers done – so Ecuador makes for an easy transition, too.

The strange thing is that few people would have even heard of Ecuador – unlike Costa Rica, Belize or Croatia – countries that were also once considered too remote and too ‘exotic’ (or risky). However property prices in these places soon spiraled upwards because of American and European investors moving in. It’s for that very reason that you can still invest in Ecuador right now for a price that is just so much more attractive than investing elsewhere.

So if you have ever wondered if it’s worth owning a piece of land in Ecuador, then keep reading. Here you’ll get the insider’s view of someone who has actually done it, using his own money, and who is savoring living the life of an expat in Ecuador. Welcome to my life.

Why you, too, should consider Ecuador

It’s a fact that Ecuador is one of the world’s most biologically diverse countries. Personally, it makes little difference to me whether a country has 100 or 1,000 different species of butterflies, birds or orchids. There is a point where you can have biodiversity coming out of your ears.

But what I do appreciate about Ecuador is:

–    Clean fresh air, with lots of birds, wildlife, and green spaces all around.

–    High standard of local and international cuisine and tasty, nutritious and diverse fruits and vegetables galore. A feast to the eye and palate, and eating healthily extends your life, too.

–    Owning a bit of land that makes you feel you have a small bit of paradise to yourself, and to do so at a price that by American or European standards is cheap.

–    The opportunity to learn a new language by simply going about everyday life and picking it up (and one day I definitely WILL be fluent!).

–    The chance to make friends from all over the world.

–    Extremely cheap labor, e.g. having a maid for $300 a month.

–    A place to set up a new business without being dragged down by silly, out-of-control regulation (and a community within the property development who can provide all manner of helpful tips – including those you can get from myself)

–    The option to build a house just how you like it, i.e. lots of useful features that blend in with the environment, but without bureaucrats telling how you have to do it.

–    Making an investment that is so attractively priced to begin with, that its value can literally only go up.

–    And the list goes on and on and on….

You know about Ecuador already, and you are looking for a specific opportunity to make an investment and (potentially) create a new life for yourself.

And this is usually, where the difficulty starts.

The stuff that glossy brochures do not tell you about

I don’t even want to imagine how many foreigners (Americans, Europeans, Australians, etc) have come to Ecuador (and other places), put down money for a piece of land or even a house – and ended up utterly disappointed, with their dreams in shatters and their money partially or completely lost.

It must not be forgotten that Ecuador is also a developing country, a place where you need to know your way around or else you’ll end up in the hands of shady operators. I know, because I have seen it happening.

As a matter of fact, in some way I have even been affected by it myself. Not because someone did a runner with my money. But the developers that I hired to build my own house ended up running into liquidity problems when the banking crisis hit.

I set up my first business when I was 15 and have never been employed in my entire life, which is why I know that too much success can also kill a company. Over-expansion at too early a stage is a killer for thousands of young ventures every year. Stretch yourself too thin, and as soon as some unexpected external event happens, you end up finding yourself in hot water financially.

There I was, having chosen a developer who:

–    Delivered the architectural plans on time and just as I had wanted them (I only had to do very minor tweaks).

–    Finished construction on time and 10% below the budgeted costs (I got money back at the end – unheard of!).

–    Created a house for me that during the first one and a half years of using it, has had only very minor problems that all got fixed as soon as I pointed them out.

And still, I had to watch this developer run into deep financial problems. These were the people that I had wanted to hire for my future real estate investments in Ecuador, and instead they faced going bust.

Luckily, in every problem also lies an opportunity.

Instead of hiring the developer for future projects, I simply bought out one of the partners, injected the necessary cash myself, and instigated a restructuring aimed at putting the company back on the road – with a view to eventually making it bigger and better than ever before, and with the ambition to turn it into the best eco home developer in all of Ecuador.

It’s because of me having stepped in to save this high quality, but cash-strapped developer from the brink, that I can today offer you an extraordinary opportunity. It’s one that I guarantee will not be repeated once the first 5 investors have signed up.

Read on if you want to find out how to be one of those 5 insider early birds.

Buy at a price from where it can virtually only go up

There are a couple of fundamental truths that I believe in when it comes to investing.

One is, that pristine nature will only ever get scarcer on this planet (therefore prices can only go up).

Secondly, tourism is the world’s largest industry and it will only keep growing. Make sure that your property investments benefit from tourism! And tying in with my first point, ideally invest into property that benefits from eco tourism. The World Tourism Organization estimates that ‘nature tourism’ is growing at 10-30 per cent growth per year. That’s much faster than any other part of the global tourism industry.

Combine increasing scarcity and increasing demand, and you get:

–    Rising capital values.

–    Great rental potential.

–    Joy of ownership (it comes thrown in as a bonus).

That’s why I took notice when I was first told some details about this particular area. It was an eye opener. Here was a place that was just destined to take off as a tourism destination.  On top of that, this particular development is set within a national park!

As the San Jose Mercury News put it into their 2 May 2010 edition:

“Mindo is an easy-access epicenter of biodiversity in northwestern Ecuador teeming with hundreds of orchid and bird species, all framed by spectacular Andean scenery in a cool, temperate climate. …. Mindo is well-known in birder circles.“

Once you look at it in detail, the Mindo opportunity immediately makes sense. This is a project that will appeal to a large audience, not just to the bird watchers who were the original pioneering tourists in this area.

–    The right mix of being remote enough to be a real get-away-from-it-all, while still being easy to access. From Quito it is only a 50-mile drive on a high quality road, with restaurants and shops along the way.

mindo-ecuador-map

Map of Mindo and its surrounding areas.

–    Set within the Mindo-Nambillo Forest Reserve, a visually stunning protected area that has been featured on the Discovery Channel.

–    A fast growing local tourism sector. To speak of this place growing by leaps and bounds is no pipe dream, it’s already happening. That includes both Ecuadorian tourists and international visitors.

–    The number of activities available to you locally is increasing rapidly. Bird watching is what Mindo first became famous for, but it’s now becoming an eco and adventure holiday haven, with clean rivers to swim in, fresh food in restaurants where you can watch hummingbirds from your table, trails for hiking and trekking, rivers for tubing, and countryside lanes for biking. You can go horseback riding, treat yourself to some time in a Spa, visit butterfly farms, enjoy fresh trout in hosterias or go for walks to study flora such as orchids. You can also volunteer and participate in the local community; for example, one of the residents of Arboretto teaches English in the local school. Families, retirees, adventurers, writers looking for a quiet place, and anyone looking for a better lifestyle – Mindo suits many needs.

–    It’s a tucked away location that offers the opportunity to own a piece of land and build a house in a place that is quite simply a little bit like paradise on earth.

Set within this gem of an area, it is a project that is probably best described by simply showing you a couple of photos:

Mindo-gated-community

And this one…

And another one….

Mindo

Mindo is one of the leading bird areas in the world.

Can you already picture yourself here?

cloud-forest-river

This is a valley that has its own small stream running through it. To the back, there is the nature reserve (= off limits for development) of an award winning eco lodge. To the side, there is 5 km (3.5 miles) stream, the San Antonio River, which is born from the junction of several underground sources within the nature reserve (no industrial farming or agriculture to pollute its waters).  It’s a 15-minute drive from the town of Mindo, the small but growing hub for tourism in the Mindo area.

Mindo withstands a thorough investigation of the usual key facts:

–    The benign climate is virtually the same year-round; a comfortable range of 60ºF – 75ºF (15ºC – 24ºC )

–    You don’t have to fear nasty stuff like malaria. It doesn’t exist in this area because of Mindo’s altitude, which does not allow Malaria-transmitting mosquitoes to thrive.

–    There are local doctors, and for anything more serious you can easily get to first world medical services in Quito (at third world prices).

–    The authors of the Ecuador.com website put it like this: “The village of Mindo has a fairly large population and a well-developed infrastructure, including electricity, drinking water, sewerage, telephone lines and a small health center. It is a great place to spend time whilst exploring the surrounding cloud forest.”

–    Mindo offers you the chance to be creative when it comes to living your life, e.g. you could volunteer at a local school, start a workout program to get really fit, or simply pursue your hobbies while not spending more than $5 on a lunch in a local restaurant (and for $20 you can eat in a top class hotel restaurant).

Nestled in this valley is a high quality unpaved road that offers access to a total of 36 lots. The project was from the very beginning planned as a high-end eco haven, a place where foreign investors can purchase a piece of land and have a local developer take care of …

–    Maintenance of land (for those who like to own it as an investment and a potential retreat for later).

–    The construction of houses (for those who want to strike while the iron’s hot).

–    The local management of the entire project (to make sure everything remains in order for the community of owners).

When I first visited, this project was already well beyond the mere planning stage. With a road there, the construction of the first model house well underway, and meticulous planning for the all the various details drawn up, it seemed like nothing could potentially stop this project.

Nothing, except for the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the biggest banking and credit crisis of living memory!

That’s the one thing that no one had seen coming.

In early 2009, the too fast expansion caught up with this particular property developer. Work in the project slowed down, and the company needed a restructuring of its funding sources. And that’s exactly the kind of work that I like to do.

Fund raising, structuring corporate transactions and helping with turnarounds is just my area of expertise for the last decade.

E.g., back in 2008, I helped restructure a failed consumer goods company in a developing country that had also expanded too fast and ran into liquidity problems. Under my stewardship, the company reduced staff by more than 50% and cut away a lot of slack. Today, the operation is not only 4 times bigger than it was before it got into trouble, but is now on a firm footing too.

This project in Mindo simply deserved to get a fresh start, which is why I decided to step in. I simply bought into the company so as to help make things happen.

Introducing a company that is now fully equipped to help foreign investors to realize their dream

ADVENTO S.A. is the property developer behind the Mindo project. Compared to other restructuring cases that I have been involved with, ADVENTO was actually a fairly simple case. All the papers and accounts were in pristine condition. The plans for the projects were top notch. And the day-to-day management team is led by the best manager that I could possibly imagine for a company like this (more about him later). The primary issue was a lack of liquidity during the banking crisis. Demand from investors had dried up just as much as the availability of funding had also became extremely restricted. This required putting fresh capital into the company and paying off some loans and debts.

Today, newly positioned ADVENTO is in perfect shape:

–    The company does not owe any money to suppliers, clients or other outsiders. A lot of financially instable fly-by-night real estate operators faltered during the crisis. We are a solid partner, full stop.

–    I have reviewed all the plans and projects, and what little tweaking there had to be done to get the projects up to scratch, has been done.

–    We have an experienced, US based construction expert on board who advises ADVENTO using his decades worth of insights into construction.

With all this being in order, I am now more than happy to stick my neck out and personally throw my weight and name behind the Mindo project.

Here is how it will work…

Not just a piece of land, but a package for a new life (and a good investment thrown in for good measure)

We have polished the “Mindo Arboretto” project (Arboretto comes from the word “Arboretum”, or a botanical garden). We have thought of every single angle that there is to think of.

We can now offer a choice of 6 different villa models, on a choice of three types of lot.

– The lots choices are:

– Riverside view (set beside the San Antonio river).

– Canopy view (set high up in the valley so as to benefit from a view).

– Base lots set lower in the valley offer a great budget conscious choice and all that set in pristine nature.

There is not a single lot that isn’t desirable, they are simply different in what they offer and those who come in early have all the choice in the world.

The available villas range from 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom as the smallest (and most popular) option. Here are computer renderings of…

Homes range up to a…

house that leaves absolutely nothing to be desired as this computer generated rendering shows.

We named our villas after local flora and fauna:

– Bromelia (Bromeliad) and Quinde (Tree Frog) are single story options.

– Helecho (Fern), Orquidea (Orchid), Colibri (Hummingbird) and Mariposa (Butterfly) have 2 storeys.

The lowest-price option is $97,576 for a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom villa including a base lot. For quality construction set within such a professionally developed project, you’ll be hard pressed to find a comparable offer.

If you want to look at the other end of the scale, for a price of $222,311 you get the 4 bedroom / 3 bathroom Mariposa villa including a plum riverside lot.

What ever you choose, the homes provide a suitable option for most needs  – as well as great value with peace of mind quality. The interiors are…

modern and first…

mindo-ecuador-map

class as…

mindo-ecuador-map

well as shown in these computer generated renderings.

mindo-ecuador-map

Additionally, all of the houses can be tweaked and customized so as to accommodate individual preferences.

On a like-for-like basis, you will be hard pressed to find such quality construction at this price in Ecuador.

These prices will be adjusted upwards, as the project consolidates with further building.

Further details can be found on the website: www.Arboretto-Mindo.com

We invite you to come to the project to see and experience for yourself.

All the other factors necessary for a successful property development are either already in place or have been planned out and will be built within the space of the coming 12 to 18 months:

Access roads (two thirds of them are already built)

–    Electric grid (already in place for a part of the lots)

–    Hiking trails on the land of the development

–    Garbage classification facilities (for recycling)

–    Water distribution grid

–    A shared parking space

–    Public lighting

–    Landscaping of the communal areas

There even is an initial, fully furnished home that has been finished already and which anyone who wants to get a feeling for spending time in Mindo can have a closer look at. The other house-types offered will be quite distinct from this model house, so you truly are spoilt for choice – and you can get a first-hand impression of the quality of materials and craftsmanship by visiting the project’s model house.

This project is already well advanced, and our recent tweaking has turned it into a proposition that I am so convinced of, that I have bought a lot for myself. As one of my associates said when inspecting the project before I bought into the company: “How many quality developments can there be in the world that are set within a protected National Park!”

Needless to say, we have virtually everything in place already to make this work for you. I believe in efficiency, and we have already done 99% of the planning that is necessary for a seamless project. Provided of course, this kind of “haven set within pristine nature” is what you are looking for.

All the lots come with a set of covenants that are registered to the land, and that only allow for development that is in tune with the surroundings. This in turn protects those who buy into the project for its stunning features.

And to be frank, if you absolutely don’t like the overall concept of an eco community of internationally minded home-owners in a nature reserve, then please simply look else where. I am convinced of the overall concept as it stands now, and I don’t want to see brash condo buildings in an area where I believe small individual nature-respecting houses are the way forward.

There is already a clear vision in place, and it’s one that I believe will appeal to a discerning audience. Obviously, if you like inner city apartments, then Mindo Arboretto is not for you. If you don’t like Spanish-speaking countries, it’s not for you either. And if you believe that a rural community in Ecuador has to have a McDonald’s, then please for heaven’s sake stay where you are! We prefer home-made Patacones to food from chain restaurants owned by anonymous corporations.

Everyone else who has so far found this interesting, keep reading!

A clear deal with a clear deadline (and QUALITY written all over it)

Since I am putting my (carefully built) reputation on the line, I want this project to become a success for its owners and investors.

For me, Mindo is the best opportunity to propel ADVENTO (the development company) into the next league. If Mindo Arboretto goes well, ADVENTO will have the gates wide open to expand into other areas in Ecuador and become a premier provider of real estate services to a demanding foreign clientele. For you, this means that you will benefit from being part of a standard-setting development.

I’d even like to underline just how much this is thought out to be a project for a clientele that is asking for quality. A rare commodity in Ecuador.

You can easily find a dozen other projects in Ecuador that will look like a bargain on the surface.

Someone might offer you that beachfront lot for $5,000 (and a three-course lunch with French wine for $1.50), and others will promise you a full set of infrastructure for a bargain price that sounds too good to be true. But remember, if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is (and there is a long list of failed projects in Ecuador and elsewhere in Latin and Central America).

Again, I can back these claims up with more than just words and promises. There is a tangible track record.

ADVENTO has been hired by a large investor into Ecuadorian property – to help them sort out the mess that their inexperienced local partners had caused. This is because ADVENTO has the inside view of what can go wrong. When you’re working with a company that other developers come to,  you can be confident that you’re in experienced hands. That’s why I can ensure that you won’t have to deal with the problems that so often blight other projects in Latin America.

How much will you save on maintenance costs if you don’t have the road washed away the first time you get a bit more rain than usual? Or how about tripping up on electrical cables that commonly run along the ground? That international standard of work and materials in Arboretto Mindo, ultimately increases the value of your investment and it maximizes your rental potential. In the end, spending some money on quality right at the beginning is cheaper (and a better investment) than having to deal with problems later on.

High quality infrastructure development – ranging from functioning water supply to a reliable electric grid and finishing off with communal facilities such as a pool – simply come at a certain price. ADVENTO has experience in sourcing the best value solution available on the Ecuadorian market, balancing quality and durability with price. The company researches thoroughly and negotiates tough with suppliers. But still, a quality project done with careful planning and designed to deliver what it promises, can’t be done for the price that sometimes you might see advertised elsewhere. I don’t want to mention names, but just looking at some of these offers I can tell you straight away that who ever falls for them, will end up disappointed and feeling defrauded.

Again, I have experience with this as I am myself living in a house that ADVENTO built. The house was more expensive than what I would have paid in other developments. In the meantime, I have learned just how much it increases your quality of life if you don’t have to deal with all sorts of constant problems that we in the U.S and Europe just don’t expect, but are the norm in Ecuador. In the end, spending some money on quality right at the beginning is cheaper (and a better investment) than having to deal with problems later on.

And what I offer today specifically, is this:

Take the first pick of the available base lots in Mindo Arboretto, and purchase one for $24,500 (instead of the $27,000 that they will cost after the initial launch). This price will include the costs for the deeding process. It will take approximately six weeks to get your deed delivered (in the meantime, your funds will stay in a lawyer’s escrow account). Getting the deeding done is an extra $1,000 in value. You can choose any one of the available base lots and you get $2,500 off.

And not forgetting our no risk, 100% refund offer if you are not delighted with your purchase. You have until 15th Feb 2011 to visit Arboretto-Mindo after your purchase, and if you decide it is not for you, you will receive a no-quibble refund within 2 weeks. This offer applies for purchases until and including Nov 15th 2010 only.

To give you a yet clearer idea of what exactly you can buy into, I have prepared a number of documents to be ready for you:

–    Photo Brochure about the Mindo Arboretto Project, including renderings of house types.

–    Layout of project, lot numbers and available lots (incl. prices)

–    Map of the Mindo area

–    Quick overview of the process how to buy and sell these lots, and information about the future management of the project’s communal parts.

–    An English translation of the real estate registry deed that you are going to receive.

–    An English translation of the covenants that are attached to each lot so as to make sure all lots will stay in line with the project’s overall spirit, e.g. restrictions on not being able to build more than 2 storys.

–    Purchase Form to order your lot

You might also want to check out the following two websites:

–    ADVENTO corporate website, www.advento-sa.com

–    Mindo Arboretto project website, www.arboretto-mindo.com (This website gives full details of all the lot types and villa models).

You can see how we have put a lot of effort into getting this right – not the least as I want to demonstrate that investing in Latin America does not necessarily mean having to deal with delays and problems.

None of this would be possible, by the way, without the work of ADVENTO’s general manager, Carlos Tobar. I am a little proud of having Carlos as manager, which is why I just wanted to share his CV with you:

“Carlos is a suma cum laude with an MBA from George Washington University. He worked for over 7 years at Sumitomo Corporation del Ecuador S.A., where he held the position of Business Development Manager. He also worked for over two years at Citibank N.A., where he held the position of Financial Institutions Relationship Manager and Financial Information Manager. At ADVENTO, Carlos is the Managing Director. He oversees and manages each ADVENTO development, as well as those of our partner contractors. Carlos is in charge of contracting, purchasing, controlling and implementing the different phases of the communal development, as well as communications with all lot owners.“

Carlos Tobar

In other words, he is a guy who is used to managing such tasks – and besides that, he is also an extremely friendly chap that I am sure you will enjoy working with. Besides, he speaks perfect English (and if you like, you can converse in French with him as he grew up in Geneva as the son of a diplomat).

If you have any questions left, you can simply email me (swen.lorenz@undervalued-shares.com) or our general manager in Quito (carlos.tobar@advento-sa.com).

Both of us will be happy to share our entire knowledge with you, not just about Mindo but also about all other aspects of living in Ecuador.

Speaking of which, you might be interested to hear that a good part of the infrastructure for the project is actually already in place. Most lots already have road access. The road has been built in such a way that it is protected against the run-off of rain, and the bit of the road that leads along the stream is specially protected against a river swell. As you can see, this project isn’t the kind of pipe dream that other developers are peddling. It’s already happening, and it’s all been carefully planned so that there are no nasty surprises with maintenance at a later stage.

Of course, there are some problems that we cannot solve. The bumps in the public road leading to the project. The fact that when going to Quito, you currently still have to go through the old airport. And personally, I find it terribly annoying that the news stands in Quito aren’t capable of providing a crisp copy of the Financial Times every morning.

But that’s all part of the deal. If it wasn’t like this, Ecuador would already be priced like Costa Rica or Croatia. And actually, for most of these small problems I can already see the solution on the horizon. The new airport in Quito is now on schedule for a November 2011 opening. The Financial Times is luckily enough available as a pdf version for download. And some day, the Municipality of Mindo will have the funds to upgrade the local road system – something that will in turn help them increase their tourism revenue.

By that time, land prices are likely to have risen further. That’s why I believe now is as good a time as has ever been, to gain a foothold in Ecuador. And to do so in one of the natural reserve treasures of the country, where tourism is bound to continue to grow by leaps and bounds. In a way, you will even contribute yourself to keeping this area pristine. Part of the project is a 95 acres private reserve that will stay protected for eternity, and which you as a lot owner will always have on your doorstep.

All this comes together to form a package that I believe, provides for a perfect start into a better, healthier and happier life. There is no better time to embark on a journey to such a new life than now. All you need to do, is drop us an email to get the ball rolling.

For everything else, you can count on us as your local support team.

With best wishes from Ecuador,

Mass Wisdom Q&A Oct. 16

Let’s share Mass Wisdom in our Saturday Q&A.

We can see the wisdom of the masses everywhere so we devote our Saturday message to comments and questions from our readers. With over 21,000 readers we have a lot to share!

gary-scott-seminars

At our seminars… after the lessons, we pay a lot of attention to the social get-togethers because these informal sessions help everyone add depth and experience to what they formally learn.  Here are delegates sitting round a bonfire at the wine and cheese reception at the New River Organic Winery hosted by Thomas Fischer.

This Saturday see below:

#1: Questions on forex… risk and Hong Kong dollar investments.

#2: Questions on our global investment syllabus.

#3: Questions on Guayaquil hotels and tourist attractions.

#4: Questions about the International Club and Club Ecuador.

#5: Ecuador Rose comments.

#6:  Comments on a 10 acre Ecuador organic farm on top of the mountain with avocado (four varieties), and lemons, oranges, tangerines, limes and yucca.

#7: A Blue Ridge Geography lesson. Do you know the Stone Mountains?

gary-scott-seminars

At our seminars (see our 2011 schedule here) we get everyone together for social occasions. Here are delegates at our last course having lunch at our house.

#1: Questions on forex… risk and Hong Kong dollar investments.

Here is the first question that came from that seminar: Dear Gary,  I am planning on relocating to Ecuador and I have been reading and enjoying your newsletters and articles for some time now. I have learned a lot from you about life in Ecuador and I’m trying to make sense of the financial information you have provided.

I am looking at opportunities for safe investments. However, I understand you when you say that there are always risks associated with any investments. If I may, I have a few questions for you and I would really appreciate and hope you have the time to reply.

1. Your October 9th letter mentioned having a small percentage of one’s porfolio in forex; what percentage do you recommend? What kind of returns can one expect from JYSKE / forex trading? What are the risks of putting all your assets with JYSKE and having them take care of the management? It is my understanding that with forex trading my original capital investment will be safe and won’t lose value as the U.S. dollar is falling.

2. Do you have any information about the German Solar company that is paying 15% interest on investments? (I read about this in International Living Magazine / seminars)

3. Is it a good idea to convert money to Hong Kong dollars and/or the Brazilian currency because it seems to hold value against the U.S. Dollar?

Reply: First… embrace risk at this time.  The seemingly safest investments now may be the riskiest. History suggests that the light at the end of the tunnel will show up in 2012 or 2013. Until then bonds considered safe provide really low returns and are at risk.

The amount of forex depends on your profile… low…medium or high risk and how much you can afford to lose or how long you can wait out a reversed position.   If you are a US resident or citizen, review this with Thomas Fischer at Jyske Global Asset Management fischer@jgam.com If you are a non US investor, contact Rene Mathys at Jyske Private Bank mathys@jbpb.dk

Re solar power and 15%. Solar power is good but a ways off.  15% this must be very risky.  Risk is not bad if the return is high enough but read my FREE report “3% Solution to determine Risk versus Risk Premium.

My report “Running Risk” shows how to earn 22% without great risk.

I view holding Hong Kong, Singapore dollars or Brazilian reals a good forex investment… when you can get a decent return… such as with Suntec REIT a real estate investment trust. This Asian company was  established with the objective of investing in income-producing real estate properties in Singapore which are used primarily for retail and office purposes.

We love the social aspect of our seminars but afterwards, we get away into peace and quiet to reflect and absorb what has been shared.  The day after our October course I hiked up to…

wild-turkey

our labyrinth and did my meditation there.  See Buddha whom we have added behind that maple tree.

Although I was brought up as a Quaker, I like the story of Buddha because his father was a king and he possessed everything that he could want or need….but he felt that material wealth was not life’s ultimate goal…his left his life in the palace and started teaching merchants.  He traveled and taught for 45 years on how to lead a balanced life.  Whenever I finish a seminar that has had a lot of focus on money, business and profits; I like to go out into nature and remind myself that these are just by products of a good life spent in giving in service.

#2: Questions on our global investment syllabus.

Readers Question; Hello, Can you tell me what is covered in your International Business Made EZ and Intl. Investing Made EZ courses? Do you have a syllabus or outline you can send?

Also, does the price of $499 include accommodations and meals? If not, how much are those, or are they on your own?  Thanks.

My reply: Jeff,  Thanks for asking.  We have an extensive course syllabus here.

This year we began making audio recordings of our international investing and business seminars courses so even if you cannot attend you can get the seminar online so you can listen in your MP-3, computer or car.

The seminar recordings also help provide a head start.  We are currently editing the October 2010 International Investing and Business seminars and when  you enroll we’ll immediately send them to you by email.  This way you can start using the data now and then and gain updates at each seminar.

This is the secret of a good investors success… enjoy the masses… but also solidtude. See the big picture but also know the details.

#3: Questions on Guayaquil hotels and tourist attractions.

Hello:  We had a wonderful trip back to Tri-City Airport on Monday after the October seminar.  Since we had plenty of time we took Rt. 16 up to Mouth of Wilson and Rt 58 over to 81.  Lots of twists and turns but the color up in the “high country” was spectacular.  More on all of this and the seminar in a later email.

I have a good client in Germany that is bringing his family to the Galapogos over their Xmas vacation and all of the arrangements have been made thru their tour company.  Just prior to returning to Germany they want to stay two nights in Guayaquil or Bogota.  (their return flight home is out of Bogota)  I am real uneasy about Columbia and think that staying in Ecuador would be a better option from a safety standpoint.  I have two questions: 1.  Can you recommend a high-end hotel in Guayaquil?

2.  They will have a full day in Guayaquil-Are there some “must see” things while they are there?

Warm regards to you and Merri.

My Reply: In Guayaquil there is the old Oro Verde Hotel  town(our choice) and the modern Hilton by the airport.  Years ago, the Swiss built the Oro Verde and it is a premier hotel with the best breakfast in the world….and safe.  Things are better in Guayaquil than they were in the past, but caution is always advised.  I would only go to a hotel which sent a driver or shuttle to the hotel for me.

It seems that things we could do explore and do years ago are better but of course it might be best to take a driver and guide with you.

In Guayaquil a walk along the Malecon stretches for several miles along the Guayas River.  This is a beautiful boardwalk, well-patrolled day and night and features small food stands, other eateries and a blend of historic and modern buildings.

Directly north of the Malecon is Cerro Santa Ana a colorful neighborhood with shops,  restaurants and bars lining the 400+ step staircase.

Once you get to the top, you can visit a small church and lighthouse. The views of Guayaquil are excellent.

Museum Casa de la Cultura has prehistoric gold work collection belonging mostly to the ancient inhabitants of the coast. The ceremonial pots, snake-shaped bracelets, nose rings, gold pieces that were used on the lips and cheeks, elaborated pins used to fasten clothing, chest shields, ceremonial masks and earrings are interesting.

The Museo Municipal, located at the corner of Pedro Carbo and Sucre has four divisions: Archeology, History, Colonial Art and Modern Art.

However, they would enjoy Quito more and there are flights from Quito to Galapagos as well as Guayaquil.  Quito is the Heritage City of the World and offers a lot of sights and of course Colonial Quito…there I would stay only in Colonial Quito or in La Floresta…such as the Suisse Hotel or if one preferred a smaller boutique hotel, the Mansion del Angel, owned by our friends at La Mirage.  This hotel is remarkable…and Quito assures one of the views/the beauty/the heritage and is really a taste of Ecuador wheras Guayaquil is not.

Ecuador-roses

I wanted to thank Jeff & Linn Neal, readers who are also Ashe County real estate brokers. They attended our October seminar and answered questions about real estate here.  Linn gave us this wonderful bouquet  of roses from her garden (enhanced by a couple of fresh Ecuador roses). She taught us a great idea. The bouquet was garnished with herbs… basil… parsley, cilantro and mint. Vision and aroma combined!

#4: Questions about the International Club and Club Ecuador.

Question: Dear Gary,  I have been researching Ecuador and following your news there for several years now. I would very much like to participate in the many courses here in the States and also in Ecuador. I feel the time is right for me to move forward with my ambitions in this regard. The International Club appears to be a great deal of a lifetime!

Could you please elaborate further. Does the club fee include the seminars/courses in Ecuador, as well as North Carolina and Florida? I am unclear on exactly what is included. I understand the air fare and accommodations are the responsible of the individual. What other costs would be incurred in the trip to Ecuador? Also, I would prefer to bring someone with me, perhaps my sister or brother. I understand that the cost to bring someone along would be free. Is this correct? I just want to make sure I am getting it all clear before I proceed. Please advise. Thank you very much!

Reply: Merri’s and my mission is to serve our readers by sharing our 42 years of global experience in ways that help them live better in these changing times.  We do this through seven areas:

#1: Investing Globally.
#2: Having an International Micro Business.
#3: Gaining From Small Town USA.
#4: Everlasting Quantum Wealth.
#5: Getting and Staying in the Zone with Quantum Thinking.
#6: Saving Fortunes and Adding Years of Energy, Good Health and Comfort with Alternative Health Ideas.
#7: Living in Ecuador.

Ecuador is just one part of what the nine seminars Merri and I conduct cover.  We personally have not conducted the Ecuador real estate, shamanic or export tours for a number of years. These Ecuador tours, which are sponsored by Jean Marie Butterlin, are not included in the International Club.

The nine seminars included for our International Club members are in the USA and they include a lot of Ecuador content provided by Jean Marie Butterlin and Bonnie Keough who conduct the Ecuador tours we advertise at our site.  They have been conducting these tours for some time…and offer superb services and experiences.

Jean Marie speaks at our seminars about Ecuador real estate. Bonnie Keogh who conducts the Ecuador export tours speaks at our seminars about Ecuador exporting and exhibits Ecuador products at our seminars… plus Merri and I share our 14+ years of Ecuador experience.

All the Ecuador tours advertised at our site are conducted by the tour company, Morya Ecuador Discovery SA, which was formed by Jean Marie Butterlin and is run by him and our former staff.

Jean Marie is offering Club Ecuador which he advertises at our Ecuador Living site.   He offers over 50 tours in the remainder of 2010 and 2011 and the fee ranges from $499 for one person to attend one tour up to $3,199 as many of the tours through 2010 and all of 2011 as you wish.

Merri’s and my International Club seminars are all conducted in the USA. They help you learn Spanish and gain experience and expertise in the other seven areas mentioned above. You can enroll here.

#5: Ecuador Rose Comments.

My Comment: Don’t forget to order your fresh Ecuador roses for the holiday. During our seminar last weekend we  shared 100 of these beautiful orange Halloween and Thaksgiving roses.

Ecuador-roses

This is one of five bouquets we made from them. Order fresh Ecuador roses here.

#6:  Comments on a 10 acre Ecuador organic farm on top of the mountain avocado of four varieties, and lemons, oranges, tangerines, limes and yucca.

Ecuador Comments:  Gary and Merri, Thanks for you assistance! Your advice and website information has allowed us to purchase a small organic farm in Ecuador. There were challenges, especially since we don’t speak Spanish, but your staff and contacts kept us on the right path. Taking a step of faith to pursue and purchase out of the USA can be attributed to your website info and guidance.

We would like to thank Peggy and Lee Carper, Bonnie Keough and the staff of The Land of the Sun hotel, Roberto Moreno and Santiago Andrade- the attorneys, and many others. A special thanks to Omar Pinto who drove me around and translated for me for several days of negotiations and educated me on the culture. He and his family were the highlight of the trip!

The farm we purchased is off the beaten path in the Rio Intag area about a 2 hour public bus ride that costs $2.00 or about a 1 1/2 hour drive by a car from Otavalo. The ride is difficult but when you arrive it’s completely forgotten. There are 4 hectares, about 10 acres, on top of the mountain overlooking the village of Apuela and it faces the legendary “Face of the Intag” mountain. There are many mature fruit trees that are primarily avocado with four varieties, and lemons, oranges, tangerines, limes and yucca with over 70 trees. The caretaker has planted many herbs for medicine and teas, mints, herba luisa  and many others along with many types of vegetables. Everything is organic!

We are very appreciative of your efforts and those of your staff to provide the great information compiled on your website. Without this information we would have never taken the plunge to purchase in Ecuador. Thanks.

wild-turkey

We love our home in the Blue Ridge… the beauty and nature. Here is a flock of turkeys we stirred up ambling yesterday through the autumnal woods. They had little fear. Oops!  Maybe  we have not been living where we thought… in the Blue Ridge. See why in the comments below.

#7: Comments on geography.

Comments: Just a quick note on geography.  We are on the eastern slope of the Stone Mountains.  The Blue Ridge is just east of us, over toward the Parkway.  Just thought you might like to know.  I’m sure it doesn’t mean much to those from far away but I like accuracy so very much.  Take care this winter on your journeys.

Be sure to send your comments & questions.

The Huge 2020 Risk

Here is a huge risk that could explode in 2020.

I hope I am wrong… but the numbers are clear.

According to Treasurydirect.com, (1) as of December 26, 2020 the total US public debt was 23 trillion and 845 billion dollars.

This is not a theoretical problem for the future.  This is not something that our children and grandchildren will have to deal with.  This is a problem in the here and now for you and me.

Rising interest rates create a massive problem for every American.

treasury direct

Look at how the interest costs alone have risen to over a half trillion dollars a year.

treasury direct

The bad news is that the (US federal debt) is getting bigger….harder to miss.  The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected in 2010 (the debt then was a bit over 14 trillion) that, under law at that time, debt held by the public would exceed $16 trillion by 2020, reaching nearly 70 percent of GDP.

The $7 Trillion Error.

They sure goofed on that.  Here we are… only in 2020 and debt has shot past 23 trillion.

How could the CBO be so wrong?

The CBO screwed up because they could never imagine that the Fed would push interest rates so low… and keep them there.  The interest rates are so low that the government has been able to borrow more than imagined and still afford the interest.

For example, US Federal government interest last year amounted to around $573 billion.  Yet in 2008 on debt of only $9 trillion +  the interest that year was $451 billion +.

Interest payments in 2017 were 27% higher than they were in 2008.  Yet the debt is over 250% higher.

Very low interest rates have helped the government borrow.  Low interest has also helped the US stocks reach all time high prices.

The government will resist raising rates because it will ruin their budget, cause a collapse of the stock markets and destroy the US dollar.

Rising interest rates, will create an almost unimaginable debt crisis.  If government interest doubles it is like the $23+ trillion national debt  rising to 46 trillion!  Unless there are some huge tax increase the interest payments are not sustainable.

Learn how to have more freedom and time, less stress, better health care, extra income, greater safety and profit in your savings despite America’s deficits, debt and currency risk.

Fortunately there are secrets that will allow a few to live much better, free of debt and worry despite the decline in the dollar’s purchasing power.   My wife, Merri and I, have traveled, lived, worked and invested around the world for nearly 50 years to gain this information.

Let me share the basics of this data and how we can be of help through 2020.

The first fact behind this secret is that things are really good in the western world.  Despite many problems, we are surrounded by more abundance and greater opportunity than almost anyone has ever enjoyed, anywhere, ever.   To enjoy a fair share of this wealth, all we have to do is understand human nature and learn how to invest in the new economy, as it changes and becomes new, again and again.

Merri and I have made seven huge transitions in the 50 years.  Each has allowed us to always stay ahead of losses that the majority of Americans suffer.  We are in another transition right now and want to share why and what to do so you can stay ahead and live a richer, independent life through 2020 and beyond.

A falling US dollar is one of the greatest risks we have to our independence, safety, health, and wealth, but also brings a window of huge profit as I explain below.   Though the greenback has been strong for a number of years, its strength is in serious jeopardy.  The growing federal deficits increase the national debt and this with rising interest rates propels a growing debt service.

While the Dow Jones Industrial Average passed a record high, the U.S. national debt passed the $20 trillion mark.

The problem is that the Dow will come back down.  National debt will not fall.

The double shock of money fleeing Wall Street and US debt skyrocketing, will destroy the purchasing power of the greenback.

Go to the store even now.  Statistics say inflation is low, but buy some bread or, heaven forbid, some fresh vegetables like peppers or fruit.   Look at the cost of your prescription or hospital bills.  Do something simple like have your car serviced at an auto dealer.  Look at the dollars you spend and you’ll see what I mean.

The loss of the dollar’s purchasing power erodes our independence, our freedom and our savings and wealth as well.

At the same time, low interest rates by big banks and higher health care costs soak up the ever diminishing income and savings we have left.  According to a Gallup poll, the most unpopular three institutions in America are big corporations & Wall Street banks, HMOs and Congress.

Yet there is little we can do because these institutions are in control.

Over the last 50 years the average income for 90 percent of the American population fell.  Our health system is restricted by a Kafka-esque maze of legislation and insurance regulations that delay, frustrate, and thwart attempts by patients and doctors from proper medical care.  Big banks and corporations restrict our freedom of choice.  The business customer relationships are no longer transactions between free equals.

Banks can trap us in indebtedness at every age from student loans to mortgages to health care costs.  They pay almost nothing on our savings.  They hide unexpected fees and payments in complex and unreadable documents.  Banks and big corporations routinely conceal vital information in small print and then cheat.  Weak regulations and lax enforcement leave consumers with few ways to fight back.  Many of these businesses ranging from cable TV to phone and internet service to health insurance have virtual monopolies that along with deceptive marketing destroys any form of free market.

These same companies control the credit-scoring agencies so if  we don’t pay unfair fees, our credit scores will plunge and we could lose the ability to borrow money, rent an apartment, even to get a job.  Many consumers are forced to accept “arbitration clauses” in lieu of  legal rights.  The alternative is to lose banking, power, and communication services.

Big business has also usurped our privacy.  Internet companies sell our personal data.  Personal information is pulled from WiFi and iPhones track and store our movements.  The government can access this information, sometimes without subpoenas.  There’s a lot that we don’t know, often withheld under the guise of “National Security.”

The glow on Western democratic capitalism has dimmed… or so it seems.  The US, leading the way, is still a superpower with economic, innovation and military might, but the institutions that should serve the people have become flawed or broken.

America’s infrastructure is in shambles.  The nation’s bridges are crumbling, many water systems are filled with toxins, yet instead of spending more to fix this, we build more prisons.  The 2.2 million people currently in  jail is a 500 percent increase over the past thirty years.  60% of the inmates belong to ethnic groups.  Not just non-white ethnic groups are suffering.  Annual death rates are falling for every group except for middle-aged white Americans.  Death rates are rising among this group driven by an epidemic of suicides and afflictions stemming from substance abuse, alcoholic liver disease and overdoses of heroin and prescription opioids.

America’s middle class is shrinking.  Nearly  half of America’s income goes to upper-income households now.  In 1970 only 29 percent went to this group.  How can we regain our freedom, our happiness and our well being in such a world?

What can we do?

Gain a better, freer life is to combine better health, higher income and greater savings for a happier, more resilient lifestyle.

Merri and I will celebrate our 50th year of global living, working, investing and researching to find and share ideas on how to have simpler, low stress, healthier, more affluent lifestyles.  Our courses, reports and email messages look at ways to gain:

#1:  Global micro business income.

#2:  Low cost, natural health.

#3:  Safer, more profitable, investments that take little time or cost to buy and hold… so you can focus on earning more instead

Many readers use our services for just one of these three benefits.  They focus only on health or on earning more or on better, easier investing.

28 years ago Merri and I created the International Club as a way for readers to join us and be immersed in all three of these benefits.   The International Club is a year long learning program aimed at helping members earn worry free income, have better affordable good health and gain extra safety and profits with value investments.

Join us for all of 2020 NOW.

The three disciplines, earning, health and investing, work best when coordinated together.  Regretfully the attacks on our freedom are realities of life.  There is little we can do to change this big picture.  However we can change how we care for our health, how we earn and how we save so that we are among the few who live better despite the dollar’s fall.

We start with better lower cost health care.

Club membership begins by sharing ways to be free of the “Secret Hospital Charge Master”.   Just as governments hide truth behind “National Security”, big health care businesses hide medical truths behind “Charge masters”.  Most hospital charge masters are secret because big business does not want us to know how much hospital costs have risen.  Motivations beyond our good health, like corporate greed, want to keep us in the dark about health care cost.

Despite rising health care costs, a report from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention shows that hospitals are the last place we want to be for good health.  One report shows that hospital-acquired infections alone kills 57% more Americans every year than all car accidents and falls put together.

Often, what patients catch in the hospital can be worse than what sent them there.  Governments and health care agencies agree  – antibiotic resistance is a “nightmare.”  An antibiotic-resistant bacteria may be spreading in more hospitals than patients know.  About one in every 25 hospitalized patients gets an infection and a report from the Journal of Patient Safety showed that medical errors are the third-leading cause of death in the country.

Along with the risk of hospital acquired illness and medical errors, the second huge threat to our well being… is health care costs, especially at hospitals.  This is why charge masters are so often secret.  There are few risks to our wealth that are greater than a hospital stay.

I have created three natural health reports are about:

#1: Nutrition

#2: Purification

#3: Exercise

Each report is available for $19.95.  However you’ll receive this free as club member and save $59.85.

Club members also receive seven workshops and courses on how earn everywhere with at home micro businesses.  We call this our “Live Well and Free Anywhere Program”.   The program contains a series of courses and reports that show ways to earn and be free. These courses and reports are:

  • “International Business Made EZ”
  • “Self Fulfilled – How to Write to Sell”
  • Video Workshop by our webmaster David Cross,
  • The entire weekend “Writer’s Camp” in MP3
  • The report “How to Raise Money Abroad”
  • Report and MP3 Workshop “How to Gain Added Success With Relaxed Concentration”
  • The course “Event-Full – How to Earn Conducting Seminars and Tours”

This program is offered at $299, but is available to you as a club member free.  You save $299 more.

Next, club members participate in an intensive program called the Purposeful investing Course (Pi).  The purpose of Pi is finding value investments that increase safety and profit.  Learn Slow, Worry Free, Good Value Investing.

Stress, worry and fear are three of an investor’s worst enemies.  These destroyers of wealth can create a Behavior Gap, that causes investors to underperform in any market good or bad.  The behavior gap is created by natural human responses to fear.  Pi helps create profitable strategies that avoid losses from this gap.

Lessons from Pi are based on the creation and management of a Primary Pi Model Portfolio, called the Pifolio.  There are no secrets about this portfolio except that it ignores the stories from economic news (often created by someone with vested interests) and is based mainly on good math that reveals the truth through financial news.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets using my 50 years of global experience and my study of the analysis of four mathematical investing geniuses (and friends).

There are seven layers of tactics in the Pi strategy.

Pi Tactic #1: Determine purpose and good value.

Pi Tactic #2: Diversify 70% to 80% of portfolio equally in good value developed markets.

Pi Tactic #3: Invest 20% to 30% equally in good value emerging markets.

Pi Tactic  #4:  Use trending algorithms to buy sell or hold these markets.

Pi Tactic  #5:  Add spice speculating with ideal conditions.

Pi Tactic  #6: Add spice speculating with leverage.

Pi Tactic  #7:  Add spice speculating with forex potential.

The Pifolio analysis begins with a continual research of international major stock markets that compares their value based on:

#1:  Current book to price

#2:  Cash flow to price

#3:  Earnings to price

#4:  Average dividend yield

#5:  Return on equity

#6:  Cash flow return

#7:  Market history

We combine the research of several brilliant mathematicians and money managers with my years of investing experience.

This is a complete and continual study of what to do about the movement of international major and emerging stock markets.  I want to share this study throughout the next year with you.

This analysis forms the basis of a Good Value Stock Market Strategy.  The analysis is rational, mathematical and does not worry about short term ups and downs.  This strategy is easy for anyone to follow and use.  Pi reveals the best value markets and provides contacts to managers and analysts and Country Index ETFs so almost anyone can create and follow their own strategy.

The costs are low and this type of ETF is one of the hardest for institutions to cheat.  Expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund.  Little knowledge, time, management or guesswork are required.  The investment is simply a diversified portfolio of good value indices.  Investments in an index are like investments in all the shares of a good value market.

Pi opens insights to numerous long term cycles that most investors miss because they have not been investing long enough to see them.

The Pi subscription is normally $299 per annum but as a club member you receive Pi at no charge and save an additional $2299.

Profit from the US dollar’s fall.

In the 1980s, a remarkable set of two economic circumstances helped anyone who spotted them become remarkably rich.  Some of my readers made enough to retire.  Others picked up 50% currency gains.  Then the cycle ended.  Warren Buffett explained the importance of this ending in a 1999 Fortune magazine interview.  He said:  Let me summarize what I’ve been saying about the stock market: I think it’s very hard to come up with a persuasive case that equities will over the next 17 years perform anything like—anything like—they’ve performed in the past 17!

Club members receive a report about opportunity in the  current strength of the US dollar is a second remarkable similarity to 30 years ago.   The dollar rose along with Wall Street.  Profits came quickly over three years.  Then the dollar dropped like a stone, by 51%  in just two years.  A repeat of this pattern is growing and could create up to 50% extra profit if we start using strong dollars to accumulate good value stock market ETFs in other currencies.

This is the most exciting opportunity I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.  I kept the report short and simple, but included links to 153 pages of  Good Value Stock Market research and Asset Allocation Analysis.

The report shows 20 good value investments and a really powerful tactic that shows the most effective and least expensive way to accumulate these bargains in large or even very small amounts (less than $5,000).  There is extra profit potential of at least 50% so the report is worth a lot.

This report sells for $29.95 but when you become a club member you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns For 50% Profits or More” FREE.

Plus get the $39.99 report, “The Platinum Dip 2019” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80 and has remained near this level, compared to a range of the 230s only two years ago.

Now there is a new distortion ready to ripen in the year ahead.

These two events are a strong sign to invest in precious metals.

I prepared a special report “Platinum Dip 2019”.   The report explains the exact conditions you need to make leveraged precious metal speculations that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The purpose of the report is to share long term lessons about speculating in precious metals gained through 30 years of speculating and investing in gold and silver.

The low price of silver offers special value now so I want to send you this report because the “Platinum Dip 2018” offers enormous profit potential in 2018.

The report “Platinum Dip 2019” sells for $39.95 but club members receive it free as well.

The $39.95 new “Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere Report” is also free.

There is an incredible new economy that’s opening for those who know what to do.  There are great new opportunities and many of them offer enormous income potential but also work well in disaster scenarios.

There are are specific places where you can reduce your living expenses and easily increase your income.  Scientific research has shown that being in such places actually make you smarter and healthier.  Top this off with the fact that they provide tax benefits as well and you have to ask, “Where are these places?”.

Learn about these specific places.  More important learn what makes them special.  Discover seven freedom producing steps that you can use to find other similar places of opportunity.

The report includes a tax and career plan broken into four age groups, before you finish school, from age 25 to 50 – age 50-to 65 and what to do when you reach the age where tradition wants you to re-tire.  (Another clue-you do not need to retire and probably should not!)

The report is very specific because it describes what Merri and I, our children and even my sister and thousands of our readers have done and are doing, right now.

Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere focuses on a system that takes advantage of living in Smalltown USA, but earning locally and globally.

Ecuador First Class Home for Sale

Here is an Ecuador First class home for sale.  One of the most stunning communities … not just in Ecuador… but anywhere in the world and at prices most can afford… less than $91,105.

ecuador-gated-community

Economic conditions make it hard to earn safe income from savings now. Those on pensions and fixed income are squeezed. Everyone has increased risk. One way to resolve this problem is to live where costs are lower.

Ecuador is a safe country where prices are still low. You can own a nice home for $49,000 or go first class and live in paradise for less than $100,000.  $91,105 to be exact.

For those who want country living near a major city Pakakuna Gardens may be one of best places there is to retire.

ecuador-gated-community

If you are looking to live paradise, near a big city but amidst acres of private gardens then you should investigate Pakakuna Gardens on the outskirts of Quito, Ecuador.

ecuador-gated-community

This is as close as it gets to heaven on earth!

ecuador-gated-community

Pakakuna Gardens sits in nearly 75 acres of garden protected on 3 sides by deep canyons that offer stunning views.

ecuador-gated-community

Life here is the best of country living yet Quito is less than an hour’s drive and going to the new Quito International Airport takes only 20 minutes.

Claus Egger a Swiss national, moved to this this 74 + acres  28 years ago and decided to spend his days creating a paradise.  Now, at age 73, he has created a foundation to share this special landscape with 187 other families.

When Egger first moved to Ecuador, he asked an architect student in his final year of studies to build the first house in Pakakuna. This student was Patricio Falconi, who became one the top five architects in Ecuador.

ecuador-gated-community

This…

ecuador-gated-community

was the…

ecuador-gated-community

result.

When Claus decided to share this paradise, he turned to his old friend, Falconi.  Since Patrico had built his dream house would he draw plans and be the builder responsible for overseeing the project.

This is history and Pakauna is now well under way with six houses in various stages of construction.

ecuador-gated-community

Claus is also building a new house for Claus as he transformed the original structure into the community Clubhouse so new buyers would be able to see and use the clubhouse immediately.

In the US, even with the recession prices for a community of this nature would be beyond reach!

Yet Pakakuna houses cost as little as $137 a square foot including land!  The price is  $87 a square foot for construction and $50 per square foot for  land, amenities and gardens.

As you would expect in a commuity of the highest degree, each house in Pakukuna differs. Patricio Falconi  has many designs available ranging from a 700 square foot one bedroom home  at $95,900 to three bedroom houses with 1500 square feet. In a moment you’ll see how to gain a $4,795 discount on the 700 square foot model.

This is an opportunity to enjoy the really finest lifestyle at a price one can easily afford.  Less than $96,000 but Falconi’s quality…

ecuador-house-for-sale

of construction and…

style is…

unbeatable.

Homeowner fees are attainable as well. Monthly fees are only $300 to support the entire 45 acres that are included in the project. The construction time to build a house is 10 months.

Here are some shots of the gardens.

New Ecuador Opportunities

Here are three new Ecuador opportunities.

The first is environmental as shown in this excerpt from an article:

Ecuadoran President Confirms Deal to Leave Oil Under Yasuni Park

QUITO, Ecuador, April 26, 2010 (ENS) – President Raphael Correa now has approved an agreement to leave Ecuador’s largest oil reserves, amounting to some 900 million barrels, underground in Yasuni National Park in exchange for more than $3 billion.

Under the unprecedented agreement, known as the Yasuni-ITT Initiative, the government of Ecuador will refrain from exploiting the Ishpingo-Tambococha-Tiputini oil field within the Amazon rainforest park, which scientists have determined to be the most biodiverse area in all of South America.

The agreement between Ecuador and the United Nations Development Programme creating a trust fund to receive donations to the Yasuni-ITT Initiative was nearly signed in December at the UN climate summit in Copenhagen, but at the last minute, President Correa instructed his negotiators to hold back until several sticking points were resolved.

The second opportunity comes in the form of a new shop in Cotacachi named Wakya. See Wakya here.

The third opportunity is beginning this September.

As of August 1st, Jean Marie Butterlin (whom we have been working with for some years) has acquired our Ecuador tour business.

Delegates at our Cotacachi Super Thinking plus Spanish Course.

Jean Marie has added some new tours and expanded the length of others, so see the new schedule below.

Jean Marie Butterlin, was born in France and after graduating in 1977 from the engineering college ICAM in Lille (France) moved to United States where he developed a homeopathic and dietary supplement business in Houston TX, with an aim at exporting the US made products  into Europe, with emphasis towards Belgium and France.

Jean Marie Butterlin.

After living part time on both sides of the Atlantic he moved back  in 2002 to Europe where he has a prosperous business in the natural health field i.e. phytotherapy, mineral supplements, specialty cosmetics, as well as Quantum medical technology, internet publishing for the anti-aging market.

This quest for anti-aging remedies, products and techniques has lead him to discover Ecuador with its valleys of longevity, where he is researching and developing new approaches to live longer and better and bringing the new products and techniques to more and more people in the United States and Europe.

Jean Marie moved with his family to Cotacachi last year.

International club members will still attend all 2010 tours free.

How We Can Serve You

How to Have Real Safety in 2020

The most important investment you can make in 2020, is in yourself.

Invest in more time.  Invest in less stress. Invest in greater security. That’s why four years ago we created the Purposeful Investing Course (PI) because when it comes to finances, there are only three reasons why we should invest.  We invest for income.  We invest to resell our investments for more than we had invested.  We invest to make our world a better place.

We should not invest for fun, excitement or to get rich quick, or in a panic due to market corrections.

The core model portfolio we teach in the PI Course rarely changes, but is highly diversified in thousands of shares around the world… so there is higher long term profits, less stress and greater safety.

The portfolio consists of 19 country ETFs.  During the four years since we created the Purposeful Investing Course and set up a $40,000 real time portfolio at Motif Brokers, we have held the same 19 shares and have only traded three times.

The portfolio started with $40,000 and has risen to $53,591 ($49,015 in shares and the balance in accumulated cash).

The portfolio did really well from 2015 to 2018, better than the DJI Index.  Then as the US dollar grew in strength it fell behind.

The chart below shows the actual results of thos portfolio compared with the S&P 500.

motif

This good value portfolio above is based entirely on good value financial information and mathematically based safety programs developed around investing models that date back 91 and 24 years.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets developed combining my 50 years of investing experience with study of the mathematical market value analysis of Keppler Asset Management.

In my opinion, Keppler is one of the best market statisticians in the world.  Numerous very large fund managers, such as State Street Global Advisers, use his analysis to manage over $2.5 billion of funds.

The Pifolio analysis begins with Keppler who continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each major stock market’s history.

Fwd: keppler

Michael Kepler CEO Keppler Asset Management.

Michael is a brilliant mathematician.  We have tracked his analysis for over 20 years.   He continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each stock market’s history.  From this, he develops his Good Value Stock Market Strategy and rates each market as a Buy, Neutral or Sell market.  His analysis is rational, mathematical and does not cause worry about short term ups and downs.  Keppler’s strategy is to diversify into an equally weighted portfolio of the MSCI Indices of each BUY market.

This is an easy, simple and effective approach to zeroing in on value because little time, management and guesswork is required.  You are investing in a diversified portfolio of good value indices.

A BUY rating for an index does NOT imply that any stock in that country is an attractive investment, so you do not have to spend hours of research aimed at picking specific shares.  It is not appropriate or enough to instruct a stockbroker to simply select stocks in the BUY rated countries.  Investing in the index is like investing in all the shares in the index.  You save time because all you have to do is invest in the ETF to gain the profit potential of the entire market.

To achieve this goal of diversification the Pifolio consists of Country Index ETFs.

Country Index ETFs are similar to an index mutual fund but are shares normally traded on a major stock exchange that tracks an index of shares in a specific country.  ETFs do not try to beat the index they represent.  The management is passive and tries to emulate the performance of the index.

A country ETF provides diversification into a basket of equities in the country covered.  The expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund as well so such ETFs provide diversification and cost efficiency.

Here is the Pifolio I personally use.

70% is diversified into Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) developed markets: Australia, Austria, France, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

30% of the Pifolio is invested in Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) emerging markets: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The Pifolio consists of iShares ETFs that invested in each of the MSCI indicies of theseall good value BUY markets.

For example, the iShares MSCI Australia (symbol EWA) is a Country Index ETF that tracks the investment results the Morgan Stanley Capital Index MSCI Australia Index which is composed mainly of large cap and small cap stocks traded primarily on the Australian Stock Exchange mainly of companies in consumer staples, financials and materials. This ETF is non-diversified outside of Australia.

iShares is owned by Black Rock, Inc. the world’s largest asset manager with over $4 trillion in assets under management.

The fact that the Pifilios are invested in all the shares of the MSCI Index in each good value market reduces long term risk.

When the US stock market bull ends, know one knows for sure how long or how severe the correction will be.

When the bear arrives, what will happen to global and especially good value markets?

No  one knows the answer to this question.

What we do know is that the equally weighted, good value market Pifolios have the greatest potential long term and that math based trailing stops can be used to protect against a secular global stock market correction when it comes.

My fifty years of global investing experience helps take advantage of numerous long term cycles that are part of the universal math that affects all investments.

What you get when you subscribe to Pi.

You immediately receive a 120 page basic training course that teaches the Pi Strategy.   You learn all the Pi strategies, what they are, how to use them and what each can do for you, your lifestyle and investing.

You also begin receiving regular emailed Pifiolio updates and online access to all the Pifolio updates of the last four years.  Each update examines the current activity in a Pifolio, how it is changing, why and how the changes might help your investing or not.

Included in the basic training is an additional 120 page PDF value analysis of 46 stock markets (23 developed markets and 23 emerging stock markets).  This analysis looks at the price to book, price to earnings, average yield and much more.

You also receive two special reports.

I did well then, but always thought, “I should have invested more!”  Now those circumstances have come together and I am investing in them again.

The circumstances that created fortunes 30 years ago were an overvalued US market (compared to global markets) and an overvalued US dollar.  The two conditions are in place again!

30 years ago, the US dollar rose along with Wall Street.

The trends are so clear that I have created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.

This report sells for $29.95 but in this special offer, you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More” FREE when you subscribe to Pi.

Plus get the $39.95 report “The Silver Dip” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the last two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80, compared to a ratio of 230 only two years before.

In September 2015, I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2015” about a silver speculation, leveraged with a British pound loan, that could increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The tactics described in that report generated 62.48% profit in just nine months.

I have updated this report and “Silver Dip” report shares the latest in a series of long term lessons gained through 40 years of speculating and investing in precious metals.  I released the 2015 report, when the gold silver ratio slipped to 80.  The ratio has corrected and that profit has been taken and now a new precious metals dip has emerged.

I have prepared a new special report “Silver Dip” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

Ancient Thinking Comes Round

There was great wisdom in a lot of ancient thinking.

Ecuador-shamans

See below how symbols like this can help you find value in real estate today.

What goes around, comes around… so many of the ideas that are now called modern science have been with mankind for thousands of years.

Around 3500 BC, the Mesopotamians began to attempt to record some observations of the world with extremely thorough numerical data.

Records of Pythagoras’ law in tablets dated as the 18th century BC.

Babylonian astronomy is still widely used in Western calendars.

Ancient Egyptian science included astronomy, mathematics and medicine including analysis of the brain that have been called “the very beginnings of modern neuroscience”.

Vital legacies of science included factual knowledge, especially in anatomy, zoology, botany, mineralogy, geography, mathematics and astronomy; an awareness of the importance of certain scientific problems, especially those related to the problem of change and its causes; and a recognition of the methodological importance of applying mathematics to natural phenomena and of undertaking empirical research.

The influence of this thought led one generation of science to the next.

Great knowledge has been known for thousands of years and when we look back at this knowledge we find ourselves on the threshold of modern science.

Ecuador Exports

Our main April conference is our Ecuador Export Expedition on April 12-15, 2010.

See how weaving stories into Ecuador tapestries enhances value.

Adding income earning power is important to many of us and Ecuador exports is one way to make extra money because they come in many forms.

At our Ecuador Export Expeditions we look at how there are three ways to create value in exports…

First, one can buy a product as is… like this

Ecuador carpet.  You can buy them in a number of markets. This shot was taken in Otavalo Market.  These carpets are beautiful… as is and you can bargain hard to get a good price.  Yet they are just carpets.

The second way to export and enhance value is to modify the product.

Most Ecuador tapestries have symbolic geometry so if you take a special tapestry like this…

double woven design and modify it… even with just a story… you enhance value.  For example the sacred geometry, animal protein of the wool and extra thickness could make this a special yoga pad.   Now the product is worth more than just a carpet.

The third way to add value is create your own product. Here is Merri at…

Ecuador-tapestry

the Cotacachi museum at a recent course showing a full length vest she had made from…

Ecuador-tapestry

a carpet.  Now this is much… much more than a rug and can be sold for much more!

Here is another… make from scratch… Ecuador export that will suit someone.

I did not own a suit for more than twenty years. My blue blazer is classic and the microfiber sport coat bought a decade ago or so has survived more miles crumpled in an airplane than I can guess. With these two pieces I always managed to get by.

I start our seminars with a coat and maybe… on a rare occasion a tie, but they are quickly abandoned for perhaps a  sweater or anything that lets the blood flow all the way to the head without any knots getting in the way.

Yet Ecuador export ideas are so good that I was forced a couple of years ago when our daughter Francesca was getting married to buy a hand made Ecuador suit.

I ambled just down the street from our Hotel Tierra del Sol (formerly Meson de las Flores) with a friend Todd Smith.  Todd was also in need of a suit and he took a photos of his and my brand new custom-made threads that cost only $130!

Here is David… our tailor,  a friendly man hard at work on the sewing machine.

20070401a.jpg 20070401b.jpg

Todd picked out a fine, gray, wool material for his suit… his was the finest material the tailor had available so his finished product was higher $210. (Todd splurged on the best. My more modest French wool rann only $130).

The tailor has a batch of modern men’s fashion catalogs that you can flip through and he makes any design you like.   If people send measurements, he can even make a suit for someone without them ever having to come to Ecuador!   They submit their measurements, select a material and a design, run their credit card, and two weeks later a new suit arrives in the mail.

Here I am with Todd and our new suits then.

20070401c.jpg 20070401d.jpg20070401e.jpg

Now our youngest daughter is getting Married.  Congratulations Ben and Ele!

This will be a summer affair in the Cotswolds so I figured that a light wool summer suit would be required.

I told David the tailor I only had a week. He delivered exactly on time.

ecuador-exports

I like it. A perfectly…

ecuador-exports

fitted suit of finer wool ran the price to $250… still a bargain.

Here is a great Ecuador export idea. When I lived in Hong Kong 30 years ago tailored suits there were great and cost about $150. Many business people made a living traveling Europe, the US and Canada to fit people for really great, low costs suits.

Now, I am not sure that travel is even be required.

A great Ecuador export idea is “The virtual tailor from Ecuador. Hand made suits for less than some US shirts!”

This is a business idea that should suit someone!

Learn more and meet David the tailor at our upcoming Ecuador export course.  Here are details.

Arrive in Quito for the Ecuador export course no later than April 11, 2010.

Your Flight Data:  As soon as you enroll, please send flight data so our tour guides can make all your arrangements.  Quito has a beautiful airport, easy passage through Immigration and on time arrival of bags.  There are carts available.  After collecting your luggage, just stay to the right and move slowly through the hall.  There is no inspection of luggage but there is an X ray scan for luggage at the end.

You will pass through glass automatic doors and start up a slight ramp.  An agent will need to see your baggage claim checks before allowing you to pass through.

The Radisson Hotel will be there with your name. If you were to be on a different flight or have any troubles, don’t worry, they will be able to find you.  If all else fails, take a taxi directly to the Radisson or catch their shuttle, which is just outside the Arrival Halls.
If you are going to the Mansion del Angel, the driver will be there with a sign with your name and will transfer you directly there.

If you would like to come early and/or just come straight out to Cotacachi (avoiding the high altitude of Quito), we can have a driver meet your plane and bring you on out ($55).

We will make the reservations for you at the Radisson or Mansion, our price is a lot lower than on the Internet ($120). Our price for this 5 star hotel is only $68 plus tax.  Just let us know your room needs.

Departure:  You will be returning to Quito in the late afternoon of April 15 and can depart on flights that evening or the next morning, April 16.

Schedule: Depart April 12 from the Radisson at 9:30 a.m. The course begins right there in Quito.  There are many interesting things to see and learn in Quito and on the trip down to Cotacachi. We start at the exquisite Olga Fisch Gallery and Museum with a lecture accompanied by the products themselves featuring the finest techniques, textiles, jewelry in Ecuador…and additionally the museum pieces from the private collection.

Hotel Data for the Course:  For the course, we will stay at Hotel Tierra del Sol (formerly Meson de las Flores) in Cotacachi.

At the hotel, you’ll enjoy our inn filled with flowers and sunshine, roaring fires at night.  It’s a 180+ year old hacienda converted into a small hotel.  The conference will be held here, and this will be our home while we travel around.  Meson de las Flores belongs to the Land of the Sun Foundation and is the seat of the foundation activities to help the indigenous. All proceeds from Meson go directly to the indigenous of the area and supports their projects.
Meson is $59 per room, plus 22% Ecuadorian tax including a sumptuous breakfast.

We have wireless Internet here so feel free to bring your own laptop.  The wireless works in the courtyard, rooms, balconies, all over.  We also have a free phone to call back to the US, Canada and all of Europe.  Everyone can utilize these no fee services to stay in touch.  We have a safe in every room and the water is good…although we furnish free bottled water also.

Tierra del Sol is the oldest of the hotels in Cotacachi by at least a century and was purchased by our foundation 4 1/2 years ago.  It is clean, comfortable, charming and full of character…but is certainly not pretentious or grand!  It is a country inn, where Gary and I live and where everyone is treated as part of the family.  We are grateful for your attendance and for your support in our projects and look forward to having you here in the the Andes.

Tierra del Sol (formerly Meson de las Flores), Sucre and Garcia Moreno, Cotacachi, Ecuador.  Telephone: 011 593 6 291 6009.  email: mesondelasflores@gmail.com

Calling from inside Ecuador:  06 291-6009   Also, you can call Tierra del Sol through a NC number 1-336-792-4767.  Be sure and give this number to your loved ones also.

Conference Itinerary and Schedule:  The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. from the Radisson.  Bonnie Keough, a very accomplished exporter and lecturer will be your guide.

This month we are happy to announce our incredible Bonus!  Bonnie Keough with Franklin Sandoval have created that makes it ultra easy for you to send goods in boxes back to the USA.   This is a great opportunity, unheard of in the country and from my point of view from any country!  Thanks to Bonnie!

Daily:  Full breakfast at 8 a.m. Tierra del Sol. Course begins at 9 a.m. at the Museum next door.

We welcome a guest speaker who is Maggie Swartz from Charleston SC.  She is an extremely successful exporter from Ecuador and makes a tidy $75,000 annually on her exports.  She will speak, demonstrate and answer questions…a delightful lady with worlds of experience.

Itinerary:  After 12 years of traveling, digging, exploring and enjoying ourselves all over Ecuador; we invite those of you who want to really get out there and experience the Export Trail.  You’ll gain exciting ways to increase your security, independence, freedom, wealth and well-being while helping this very deserving country and its indigenous people!  What a joy!

Each day we will have lecture with invaluable contacts, speakers, ideas and plans.  Then, we’ll head out to nearby stunning surrounding areas. We’ll enjoy the green patchwork mountains and the sacred province of Imbabura.

We’ll go to the markets, famous and obscure; visit the known and unknown…those who hand make, hand craft one-of-a-kind goods.  We’ll meet the artists, designers, creators, craftsmen and visit them in their workshops, homes and markets.

Otavalo (the most successful and colorful Indigenous market in all of the Americas) is a delight and we will meet a host of wholesalers.  We’ll also visit the charming and small village of the weavers, Peguche, where the sound in the air is the clackety clack of the looms. We’ll head out up the Pan American Highway to San Antonio de Ibarra for its world famous wood carvers and furniture makers.  This year we scored another win by being allowed into Diana Carrasco’s personal workshops…she is the leading designer of Cuenca.  Ah, the flower growers are everywhere….ready and packaged for export…we’ll host Roberto who will help all with the exportation of flowers and with the tips of selling/marketing/wholesaling/retailing of over 25 kinds of flowers.

And of course we are centered in Cotacachi with its famous leather market!

We have searched, scoured and scrounged our way across this tiny Andean country to find special products and goods that you can export in a suitcase and make outstanding profits. We’ll travel through the Andes Highlands on the search for that special something that will make your eyes gleam with delight…both for its uniqueness and salability.
Broaden your horizons as you increase your bank account. Help the poor and gain more fulfillment and fun. Improve the quality of your life, expand your horizons and reduce the tax you pay as you increase asset protection by having an overseas company and overseas income!

The goal of the course is to give you more than just knowledge.  The course brings you real, usable knowledge and the after course support so you can put the knowledge you gain into action right away.

The Andean Export Expedition combines experience, theory, practice and contacts Gary and I have over thirty years experience living, working, importing, exporting and conducting businesses overseas and 15 years of doing business in Ecuador.

This course promises to bring joys and wonders into your life as well as helping the indigenous.  Please let us know how else we can be of service.

Keep in mind, we will all make your reservations as soon as we have your arrival data.

Ecuador Export Idea

Ecuador Export Idea

This is the best era ever for earning and gaining freedom anywhere in the world.

This chess piece created an Ecuador export idea as Merri and I flew through the night on Delta’s redeye, Quito to Atlanta.

ecuador-export-idea

The Olga Fisch Spanish Bishop.

This Delta flight is a great way to get back and forth to Quito… Delta #680.  We lifted off to a nearly full moon and Quito’s cool night air at 30 minutes past midnight. We eased into Atlanta Hartsfield gate at 5:24am. I know the exact time because we could not exit the plane until 5:30am when customs and immigrations officially opens.  The entire weary plane load had to just sit and wait…

What a perfect time of the day to enter our great nation… fresh… awakening… no lines… no tired officials.  We moved straight through C&I, security and sat in the Delta Sky lounge for a bit  before easily picking up the Delta 6:55am, one hour Atlanta to Orlando flight. This brought us back to Mt. Dora and a sparkling day for a late breakfast around our pool.

ecuador-export-idea

What an incredible era we live in… to have this mobility and such expanded horizons…. which is what I was discussing with 385 attendees of  Americans, Canadians, Australians and Europeans in Quito the day before.

More on that in a moment.  Back to passions chess and Ecuador exports.

This has been a busy three weeks.  Merri and I enjoyed sharing a long weekend with 70 investors and business people here in Mt Dora, February 11 to 14. Then we hustled to Cotacachi on the 15th to start a week long Super Thinking plus Spanish course for a full house group of fledgling professional photographers organized by American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI).

While in Cotacachi, we enjoyed the completion of the final condo in our Casa Blanca condo building.  This is a two story, one bedroom rental unit in…

ecuador-export-idea

a four story building (with three units) that we have for sale. See more on this at Cotacachi condo offer.

We completed the Super Thinking plus Spanish course on Feb. 23 and immediately drove up to Quito where I gave a series of five talks to nearly 400 delegates at the International Living Ultimate Event.  Here I am going on about Ecuador, Ecuador exports and roses.

ecuador-export-idea

A big part of talk was how to earn money in Ecuador by turning passions into profit with Ecuador exports…this finally gets me to to subject of the day… passion…. opportunity…. Ecuador exports and chess.

Chess is my game.  I love it and one of my greatest material treasures is an ivory chess set purchased in Hong Kong in the late 1960s, that has stayed with me through the decades.  In fact this is the only item I have held onto from that time in my life.

This set sits in our North Carolina farm.

market-Timing

Another Gothic set… circa 1950s… is in my Florida office.

ecuador-export-idea

I like to play chess with my kids (who are scattered round the globe) by email so other chess sets are set up… one set in pewter was brought to me by our daughter Francesca from Burma (Union of Myanmar).  Richard Goebel, who heads up North Carolina for us and I play chess every day.

ecuador-export-idea

I have another in glass and one in wood and one in marble and am always looking for unique chess sets.

You could say that chess is one of my passions.

This started the idea about a chess related Ecuador export idea.

I have had my eye on a chess set in Quito at the magnificent Olga Fisch Gallery in Quito.

Olga Fisch was a Hungarian artist and a collector who immigrated to Ecuador in 1939. She soon recognized the vast potential of the folk artisans in Ecuador. She was a humanist and a visionary who knew how to recognize quality in a work of art so she helped Ecuador’s artisans refine their artistic expressions and closed the the gap between folk art and traditional fine art.

We begin all of our Ecuador export expeditions at the Olga Fisch Gallary so delegates can see different interpretations of Ecuadorian ethnic tribes, mostly from the Andean region, represented in clay by well known Ecuadorian artisans.

Delegates will see many types of pottery, all hand made, one of a kind hand painted pieces, fine silver jewelry and then they enjoy her magnificent collection in the museum there.

Potters are a part of the Olga Fisch team; they work the clay to make utilitarian pieces that can be used both as dinnerware and as decoration. Often they use volcanic ash which they mix with clay to enhance the beauty of their work as they look for trends in reproductions of old things.

One goal in our Ecuador Exports Expedition is to put the potters and delegates in touch. Then we help delegates on the expedition figure out trends so they can create Ecuador export products that are easy to market.

I have had my eye on this wonderful chess at the Olga Fisch Gallery for 4 or 5 years…  yet never seemed to have time to get over and buy it.

This trip I made time.  The combatants are the Incas and Spanish conquistadors.

armies…pitched for battle. We know how the conflict ended in times past… but what happens next?

So brought the excitement of pitting the past and the future into…

ecuador-export-idea

our Mt. Dora sitting room.

The set came in a sturdy…

ecuador-export-idea

box that easily defied the challenge of the trip back in Delta’s cargo hold.  Everything at Olga Fisch is…

ecuador-export-idea

high style united with function.  Each chess piece was…

individually wrapped in…

paper.

ecuador-export-idea

The set comes with a fine painted board.

ecuador-export-idea

This set at $181 is too expensive to become an Ecuador export.

At our export expedition we teach delegates that the qualities for good exports are:

Portable  in size and weight
Durable
Unique Niche
Focused to Market
Dependable
Desirable
Profitable

Profitability is dependent on mark up and requires as low a starting price as possible.  $181 is a pretty high cost… yet here is the point.  There are hundreds… maybe thousands of unqiue niches to which  chess sets could be  adapted.  There are potters… so if chess is a passion… along with some other idea get your own potter… create your own design and create your own unique Ecuador chess set to export.

Or if saving the environment is a passion, an Amazon or Galapagos theme would be great.  Bird watchers might love a battle of the birds.   Fishermen could have a set of fish fighting to survive on the board. The themes are endless and this is the key to successful exporting adapting proven themes to new… tight niches.

We have never had such great opportunity to live earn and be free in Ecuador or wherever we choose in this wonderful game of life. Now the game of chess can create opportunity and help us be free.
