Low Costs

Our seminar and tour fees remain as they were in 2007 and 2008.  Merri and I run our business from home and our internet only structure keeps our overheads low.   By conducting many smaller tours we keep our staff at a minimum so our fees run as low as a third of what other seminar and tour companies charge… yet again and again we are told that they are the best.. most personal and of course we have way more experience than anyone else. We are not selling real estate but are simply offering tours to help you to understand the country, the areas, the prices so you can make an informed decision.

In addition we do not accept commissions or any form of compensation from hotels where our delegates stay, or from sellers of real estate on our tours. Instead we negotiate low room rates and try to get real estate sellers to offer discounts to our our tour delegates.

Split Sessions Available North and South

Our new split session seminars help those who have asked to attend courses but who cannot make it to Ecuador right now.  These courses… both our International Business & Investing and Super Thinking + Spanish seminars will have the first session conducted in Central Florida (Mt. Dora) or the Blue Ridge in North Carolina.   Then those who choose the second optional session can travel to Ecuador for the remaining real estate or shamanic minga tours that follow immediately after the first session.

Enjoy Optional Group Travel

Split session delegates can travel to Ecuador in a group with our staff and we’ll try to negotiate special low cost fares.

Three New Real Estate Tour Destinations

We have added Quito, Mindo and Cuenca real estate tours.  We want you to experience more of the beauty and joys of Ecuador!

Quantum Wealth

We have also added (at no cost) a one day Quantum Wealth course to our International Investment & Business Courses.

This course teaches similar knowledge provided in our Super Thinking + Spanish courses.

There are numerous little known, but scientifically proven, ways to enhance the speed, accuracy and efficiency of the mind, memory, recall, retention and decision making process for greater wealth, health and happiness.

This is not a gimmick or a trick… just advanced education. At least three best selling books, Superlearning, the Mozart Effect and Superlearning 2000 have revealed insights about how to learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian educational master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

In 1980 Superlearning sold over two million copies and showed how the Lozanov learning system blended long-tested sciences of Raja Yoga with contemporary physiology and psychology so people could learn faster and better…thus making better and clearer decisions for wealth and health.

The book exposed this fact making it so popular that Dr. Lozanov was allowed to visit the US from Bulgaria to teach this system to just a very few people so they could pass on this vital information on how to learn and think in a more natural, powerful way so we can enjoy life and enhanced memory more.

Merri was among those few who learned and is licensed to teach the Lozanov system. Merri’s modified system shares her knowledge on how to think and learn more powerfully in our Spanish courses.  Now we are adapting this science to help delegates have better investing and business.

The learning system expands on Dr. Lozanov’s original work and offers new insights into tapping human potential, drawing from ancient and modern tactics for quick learning such as subliminal memory, music, nutrition, and productivity.

Quantum Wealth changes the way a person thinks and learns forever.

The techniques help unlock the quantum potential that all people possess. This evolutionary program shows how certain types of music can enhance learning and how even altered nutrition can make anyone a startling 25% smarter, how subliminal messages can increase energy and thinking process, plus much, much more.  This is the system that we use for building wealth and for making decisions.

This Super Thinking system follows and builds upon what was taught in the Superlearning, the Mozart Effect and Superlearning 2000 plus includes techniques and strategies that Merri has gained in her 41 years of global travel and study with educational masters around the world.

This is a course that shows how to increase mental power for success in a 21st century that is overwhelmed by information. The system is built from old and new sources ranging from raja yoga to contemporary unorthodox science, and ultimate zone training already used by many Olympic champions.

Five Options

Each month delegates can choose to come to one, two, three, four or all five seminars and tours conducted in the month.  Multi tour adventures provide additional discounts.

Be sure to read tomorrow’s message which explains how to (save up to $35,449) attend as many of these seminars and tours as you desire FREE!

Comments from a real estate tour delegate:  Gary, A special thank you for the real estate tours that you provide. John and I did a lot of research and chose Ecuador as our first choice. Our visit in June exceeded our expectations of the info that we had gathered about the country. Ecuador also meets our top seven priorities: Cost of living, Climate, Cost of real estate, Heath care, Access to high speed internet, Accessibilty to the States and over all safety.  Our dream has always been to live on the beach and moving to Ecuador will make that dream come true.  Again, a big thank you for helping us make that dream come true.

Head south to Ecuador!

Oct. 21-24 Ecuador Import Export Tour (SOLD OUT)

Oct. 25-26 Imbabura Real Estate Tour

Comments from a Super Thinking + Spanish delegate:  I wanted you to know that the Spanish course has proven incredibly helpful. Dealing with internet service providers and shopping for appliances, etc., normally would have required me hiring a translator to follow me around. While it may not be pretty or 100% grammatically correct, I am understood. Thank you!  Saludos!

Nov. 9-10 Imbabura Real Estate Tour

Nov. 11-14 Ecuador Coastal Real Estate Tour

From a real estate buyer in Ecuador.  Hello Again Gary,  I am just outside Salinas in Punta Blanca I remember you saying a decade ago to start there. I have seen the price on land here jump directly on the beach now $300 to $500 a square meter and off the beach $80 to $100 square meter and the lots are not big an average lot is 250 square meters. I bought several lots in this area for less than half of the asking price today. I remember seeing a article about that you wrote a decade ago that you were able to buy lot’s here in Punta Blanca for a couple to a few thousand.  You also used Naples Florida as an example this I why I bought here in Punta Blanca YOU WERE RIGHT! It all started the night I came back from my first trip when I came across your website. If it was not for the knowledge that you share and international living none of this would have gone as smooth as it has. So Thank You Gary!

December 11-13 Ecuador Coastal Real Estate Tour

Comments from delegates at our International Business & Investing Course.  We so enjoyed attending the IBEZ Seminar this past weekend in Jefferson, NC.  We loved the high country area, the nice people we met and particularly enjoyed the visit and tour of the New River Winery.  We were lucky to sit at a table with four utterly charming southern women, one of whom was Haskell’s wife.  As a retiree who saw her retirement sustain considerable loss due to the economy, I found the information you presented during the three days to be extremely helpful and showed a plausible way for me to have some recovery.  Besides all of the relevant information, your emphasis on honesty and the importance of not be deceptive was reassuring.  The bottom line is, that what gave real value to the information we were receiving and what made us feel comfortable was, that we felt you, Thomas and David were all people of good character.  Something that is very important to us.  We intend to do business with JGAM and Jyske Bank very soon.

Join us in the mountains and at the sea.  Attend more than one seminar and tour and save even more plus get the three emailed courses free.

International Club attend up to 52 courses and tours in 2010 free.

Cotacachi Olympics

Last year our Ecuador Living website introduced the Cotacachi Olympics.

The way to solve many of the world’s social and economic woes is to help youth worldwide gain confidence to learn skills that will make them productive.   Increased affluence in poor places is far more effective than vast armies in providing global security.

We aim our business and the activities of our foundation towards creating employment and improving education.

This is why we support the Cotacachi Olympics  program started by our friend, Jorge Quilumbaqui, to promote the ability of the Ecuador Indigenous to help themselves.

Jorge Quilumbaqui at his latest real estate project. Primavera IV is in the background.

Jorge started off as a laborer but now is considered to be one of the indigenous elders in Cotacachi, an example to younger generations of how to prosper in what, years ago, was a difficult environment.

Here’s Jorge, second from left, with Cotacachi’s former mayor Auki, standing with some of the medal winners from last year’s event. (The past mayor next to Jorge is wearing the white hat.)

Jorge hasn’t forgotten his roots though and employs dozens and dozens of builders in his various projects as well as local girls in his hotel in Cotacachi, Sumak Huasi.

Our friend and reader Dave Wharton was Australia’s Pentathalon entrant in the Sydney Olympics.  He sent down his Olympic torch for the second Cotacachi Olympics.  Here is Dave with the torch.

Dave sent this note to the Cotacachi Olympians:

In 2000 I ran with this TORCH,which carried the flame that started the Olympics in Sydney. There were many torches but only one flame that transferred from torch to torch all the way from Athens in Greece to Sydney in Australia.

In 2003  I brought the TORCH to Ecuador and runners carried it from the Mayan Ruins at Ruminchico outside Quito to Vilcabamba de Loja. Along the way many runners joined us in helping to revive the memory and spirit of the famous CHASQUI runners who came centuries before.  The run was organized by Oswaldo Munoz of  Nuevo Mundo Expeditions in Quito.

I wish Jorge Quilumbaci,Officials and Competitors success in running your MINI OLYMPICS and hope to visit you one day.

This introduction was translated and read in Spanish and Quichua to the young Cotacachi Olympiads.

Chasqui runners were the main form of communication for the Inca Kings. The Incas did not discover the wheel and lacked a writing system but they set up a relay system for delivering information along the Capac Yan (Inca Trail). Only the swiftest athletes were chosen, usually running 2 miles at a time often covering 200 miles in under 24 hours.

We hope this contribution will further inspire the youth of the Andes onto great things.

Some of the children, in good humor and ready to compete!

Both boys and girls competed and the joy expressed as they competed, won and lost in good spirits was a pure pleasure to watch.

Congratulations, Cotacachi on a second successful Olympics.

We hope we can help you attain Olympian success in business and life as well.  This is why we developed our course Tangled Web… How to Have an Internet Business.

I am willing to give you this $299 course free when you attend either our our North Carolina International Business & Investing seminar in October or November in Ecuador.  Sign up for either seminar and I will email you our Tangled Web… How to Have an Internet Business Course (offered at $299) free.

We look at many funky export ideas in these three courses.

For example when decoratng our latest rental unit we created wall art with these Otavalo scarves.

All it took was the scarves, a stick and a bit of wood.

We visit Otavalo on our Ecuador export tours.

There is so much…

style. This is the entrance to the Plazas de los Ponchos in Otavalo.

There is so much wonderful design….

textures and…

uses from ponchos to…

hammocks to…

sweaters to…

art and handicrafts to…

reed furniture… musical instruments and rugs… mats, that the experience stimulates funky business ideas.

Ecuador Spanish Program

A recent message about our Ecuador Spanish Course looked at how our Super Thinking Course differs from regular Spanish programs because it focuses coordinating brain frequencies for learning.

This is important because change can create a brain drain when our brain frequencies are not integrated.

Delegates at our Super Thinking + Spanish Courses and our Shamanic tours learn about incorporating frequencies of thought. Here delegates get ready for a shamanic ceremony.

During these times of rapid change most of us have ups and downs in our lives so we need a zone defense to keep up, adapt and move ahead.

Excerpts from a Time magazine article entitled “Getting and Staying in the Zone” by Alice Park explains how to gain an edge.

Elite athletes talk a lot about being in the zone, that magical place where mind and body work in perfect synch and movements seem to flow without conscious effort. Major-league pitchers, NBA stars, pro golfers and Olympic hopefuls dedicate their careers to the search for this elusive feeling, devoting hours of training to “listening” to their body and “reading” their muscles—trying to construct a bridge between mind and body sturdy enough to lead them straight to athletic nirvana.

But the truly great athletes, those with long careers and performances that fans talk about for generations, know that maintaining a competitive edge is less about keeping it honed to perfection at all times than realizing they can lose the edge every once in a while and still get it back.

Athletes in the throes of a slump will swear that it came all of a sudden, out of nowhere. But psychologists say the episodes are less mysterious than they seem. They usually stem from a failure to prepare mentally for the pressure of athletic competition. “Training is about strengthening the mind-body connection,” says Kirsten Peterson, sports psychologist for the U.S. Olympic Committee. “Athletes need to train their mind with the same discipline that they train their bodies.”

Delegates head onto the lake for the ceremony.

Super Thinking helps us learn how to integrate brain wave frequencies so we can get into the zone as we learn Spanish or learn or do anything.

Off they go…

headed for…

a frequency ceremony at this shore.

There are at least three simple ways to turn on this super thinking ability:  meditation, listening to 60 cycle music and taking Theanine.

Being in the zone comes when we integrate four categories of brainwaves, ranging from beta waves, the fastest of the four different brainwaves to alpha, theta and the final brainwave state, delta. Delta brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency.  Deep dreamless sleep takes you down to the lowest frequency.

When we allow these waves to interconnect freely we gain unimaginable intellect.

Merri and I meditate twice every day to tap into this energy.

Plus we listen to 60 beat ten cycle classical music as we work. You could count the number of times we have missed our meditation routine in the last 20 years on one hand. This has helped us enormously.

60 cycle music, along with deep breathing exercises for relaxation moves the mind into Alpha and deeper states as well.  Health benefits are gained as blood pressure can drop, heart rates slow and the mind becomes calmed.

This is a simple as listening to relaxing Baroque music such as Handel’s Water Music. A few others compositions at this cycle include Corelli’s Concerti Grossi, Op. 6, Violin and Orchestra in No. 2, 8, 5, 9. or J.S. Bach’s Fantasy in C Minor and Trio in D minor or Vivaldi’s Five Concertos for Flute and Chamber Orchestra.

Music has been used for centuries to induce states…babies being lullabyed to sleep, sea chanteys and harvesting songs to ease workers while laboring. Eastern mystics and South American shaman have used music to carry them to unusual states of consciousness.

Your body relaxes and your mind becomes alert in these simple forms of relaxation.

Soviet psychologist, I.K. Platonov, found it was possible to just use a metronome beating at 60 to enable the mind to take in and hold more strongly.

In choosing a recording of a slow movement, simply check that the tempo is about 60 beats a minute. When a composer writes a piece of music, he indicates the speed at which he wants each of the different movements or segments to be played.

These indications of tempo are generally given in Italian. You will often see them on the different movements of a concerto. For instance, allegro indicates a tempo of around 120 – 168 beats to the minute, andante around 76-108, adagio from around 66 to 76, larghetto 60 to 66 and largo 40-60 beats to the minute. Some performers and conductors may set a tempo somewhat faster or slower than what the composer indicated. To check out the tempo of a recording, be sure it’s at around 60 beats a minute. You can check it with a metronome or against a clock with a second hand.”

Here is a portion of the music list provided with that study.

Bach, J.S.: Largo from Concerto in G Minor for Flute and Strings. Bach and Telemann Flute Concerts and Aria to The Goldberg Variations.

Corelli, A.: Sarabanda (largo) from Concerto #7 in D Minor.

Corelli: 12 Concerti Grossi op.5

Handel, G.F.: Largo from Concerto #1 in F. Music from the Royal Fireworks.

Telemann, G.: Largo from Double Fantasia in G Major for Harpsichord.

6 Fantasias for Harpsichord Vivaldi, A.: Largo from Winter. The Four Seasons

A third avenue that helps the mind slip into the zone is Theanine (chemical name: r-glutamylethylamide) one of the chemicals found in green tea. Theanine is used to reduce stress and anxiety without the tranquilizing effects found in many other calming agents. Scientific evidence shows that Theanine stimulates the brain’s production of alpha waves, making the user feel relaxed but alert and not drowsy. It also helps the body produce other calming amino acids, such as dopamine, GABA, and tryptophan. As might be expected from a calming supplement, Theanine may be able to lower elevated blood pressure as well.

These Super Thinking tools integrate brain hemispheres and improve the way the left brain, the body and the right brain working together.

In the ceremony…

the three spears…

represent the union of the body mind and soul.

It might help to think of an orchestra: brass, percussion and strings. When the horns are featured, the drums and violins don’t try to pound and saw against them. Nor do they go rambling off on their own. They play in concert. Logical mind, body, creative mind…you may be focusing with one, but because you are a whole person the other parts are there, and they are in resonance. They can create disharmony. Or, they can play in concert.

Usually in our efforts to learn and live a smooth life, we’ve separated ourselves into pieces.

This separation is especially stressful during times of great change. During change many of the pieces we adhere to in our daily routine lose their dependability.

Super Thinking allows us to operate as a whole, pulls the pieces back together, coordinates, refreshes and renews them.

Unite the mind…

When this happens, seemingly inexplicable things can happen.

A woman studying a foreign language suddenly finds her sinus trouble has disappeared.

A man learning chemistry realizes his intuition has accelerated. An athlete doing body-training techniques finds his concentration improved in academics. As obstructive divisions dissolve, all areas of the person can be strengthened. It’s similar to light striking one facet of a crystal; soon it then lights up another and another and another….

Let’s look at a comparison on the benefits of meditation. Since TM is the most documented form of meditation worldwide, it lends itself to a comparison to Super Memory. Below, we can see the physiological changes during sessions of listening to certain types of music as compared to TM Meditation.

The philosopher Heraclitus stated reality correctly when he said… “Nothing endures but change”.

Henry Thoreau made the more important comment about life:  “Things do not change; we change”.

So during times of great change, we can change in ways that improve our health, increase our wealth and provide better lifestyles.   Super Thinking helps and you can also learn Spanish in the process!

Small Ecuador Hotels – Quito

This is the second in a series on small Ecuador hotels.

See the first in the series at Small Ecuador Hotels Manta

When we look at small Ecuador hotels in Quito, I have to first mention Hotel Quito. We lived here for years and have sent hundreds of delegates here… plus conducted many seminars at Hotel Quito.

Hotel Quito is not a small hotel. Hotel Quito is an old hotel that has been nicely renovated.  Originally in the 1950s it was an Intercontinental that, after leaving the franchise, fell into disrepair.

Several Swiss and German friends of ours took over the management about a decade back and did a tremendous job getting this old operation back into top form again.

The rooms are okay… but the location and gardens are superb.  The views are beyond world class.  One of my favorite sports is rising before dawn at Hotel Quito and watching the day break that begins with the faintest of hues… painting the sky with a purple coral patina.

Slowly the mountains and valleys in the distance take form.

The city begins to wake.

The lights in the high rise condos fade.

and the city in the distance reveals itself.

The steam room and pool open in shadows.

Merri and I enjoy a steam, turco as it is called in Ecuador (Turkish Bath).  There are few places where you can find gardens that are lush twelve months a year, filled with tropical flowers and fruits, coconuts, hibiscus, lemons and orange, yet having flowers from the north (fuchsias, roses and such) as at Hotel Quito Ecuador.

We have a lovely routine of a long swim in the Hotel Quito Ecuador Olympic sized heated pool which overlooks the entire city, then a nice long steam in their white tiled Turkish steam bath (filled with fresh eucalyptus leaves).

and then…

we take a walk in the gardens before…

going to the restaurant Techo del Mundo (top of the world) on the 13th floor for a great buffet breakfast, still inspired by the Swiss.

You can enjoy the morning and buffet. I especially love the yucca rolls, the multitude of fresh tropical fruits and not least a huge bowl of Macadamia nuts.

They serve a great breakfast buffet of tropical fruits and fresh juices (a delicious blackberry or tropical exotic fruits), homemade Swiss muesli (loaded with currants and mango), fresh French bread, free range eggs, corn tamales stuffed in banana leaves and of course cafe con leche.

Techo provides a view of the entire city from the top floor of the hotel and has the distinction of being the second highest restaurant in the world with panoramic views.

The restaurant has great panoramic views of Quito…

in all directions.

Here is the lobby of Hotel Quito.

Sadly since the new management added a casino it has been harder to get reservations. We now use other hotels for our groups to make sure we can get rooms… but if you are in Quito for a while it’s worth seeing if you can get a room at Hotel Quito.

We offer a small hotel reservation service and can obtain a discount at a number of Ecuador hotels for our Ecuador Living subscribers.   For example at Hotel Quito we can get a savings of $40 a night off the normal room rate.    Staying at Hotel Quito three nights saves the Ecuador Living subscription fee.
