Premium Quality Roses

Though this is perhaps the lowest price for roses you will see, the roses are special, not like anything offered in a store or even at most florists.

I inspected all the major websites offering roses and found when shipping was calculated, prices ranged from $259 (36 Martha Stewart roses) to $135 and $91.94 for 50 roses from the best ranked websites.

Recently, even the much smaller,  tired roses at the local super market cost even more than the fresh long stem roses sent from Ecuador and delivered to your or your mother’s house or office.

These are premium roses with extra large heads that open fully.

Fresher Quality Roses

Most roses go from Ecuador to Miami by air are stored in Miami then shipped by truck until they sit in a store. They can be a week or more old when you see them. The roses you receive from this offer are cut and stored overnight, driven by refrigerated truck to Quito airport and flown to Miami to a special refrigerated Fedex facility until, then flown to your Fedex destination for immediate delivery to your home or office. This means they last longer.

The longevity of the roses depends on the conditions they are kept and their care so a special instruction is included with your roses on how to make them last.

Environmentally Clean Roses

The roses your receive are certified by Veriflora. The VERIFLORA seal is a real,
green program that regularly spot check farms for ecologically sound systems that include:

1- Water and ecological conservation: implementing water management systems to prevent depletion of fresh water supplies.

2- Product quality: implementing practices to ensure the quality of the product through the whole chain of delivery to the final consumer.

3- Advanced agricultural practices: integrating organic practices wherever possible. To only use approved green label certified pesticides. To allow no discharge of pesticides run off into the environment.

4- Waste management: recycling and composting as well as the proper disposal of agricultural chemicals.

By March of 2007 the co-op that sends your roses had certified 144 acres.

Certification means the growers have met or exceeded the requirements. There is no middle ground with Veriflora, no differing levels of certification. You either are ecologically sound and certified, or you aren’t.

That means you receive environmentally friendly roses.

In addition the Verflora seal requires the rose grower to be socially responsible adhering to recognized labor and community standards, specially pertaining to health and safety, work conditions, hiring practices, discrimination, harassment and fair pay.

The growers offer every single one of their workers:

-free doctor and medical treatment at the farm for workers
-day care facilities for infants
-free breakfast and lunch (and dinner when they work late)
-free sports and recreation facilities
-small business loans -when workers want to leave to set up their own small holding farm

How beautiful?

Here are fresh Ecuador roses at La Mirage Hotel & Spa in Cotacachi to show how beautiful they can be.

How fresh are these roses?  Here is an amazing story.  Our fresh cut Ecuador Easter roses were so fresh that they began to sprout. When they had wilted (after almost two weeks) I clipped the sprouting stems and put them in our garden. Here they are beginning to grow!

Don’t count on this. I have never seen it happen before, but this an indication that these are absolutely the freshest roses you can provide delivered directly to your (or your Mom’s) door by Fedex.

Merri and I love Ecuador for the warmth and friendliness in the hearts of its people. We also love Ecuador’s beauty so when we had an opportunity to send Ecuador roses we grabbed the chance.

I wrote about the roses, made a special offer and sold over 15,000 roses.

So when a chance to offer Ecuador roses regularly, I thought, “Why not”?

There and then I decided to make a special offer. Here it is.

One thing to take into account is extreme weather conditions. FEDEX SHIPMENTS CAN BE DELAYED BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER. In general your roses will hold up better if the “how to care for your roses” letter that will come with your roses is followed carefully.

The plantation will send a “how to care of roses” page in every box to ensure the proper care of the product.

We make our roses last a very long time because after they begin to wilt, we dry our fresh Ecuador roses as they age and continue to use them. Here are 100 dried Ecuador roses on our stair case in North Carolina

Live Well and Be Free – 5 Global Earning Experiences

Here are 5 global income experiences and 7 business secrets that can help you live well and free anywhere.

I began my international business over 50 years ago and have been creating and running international micro businesses since.

During that time my wife, Merri, and I have been able to live, work and earn all over the world… literally anywhere we wanted because of seven secrets we gained which we share here with you.  We have been blessed with global earning experiences that helped us make millions… but were also fun, such as with British Lordships.

See how this one micro business helped us rub elbows with British Royalty.

gary-scott-international-business

One of Merri’s businesses that worked with British Royalty was featured in Doonesbury.

Global Earning Experience #1:  Lepers.  Our micro businesses have been fulfilling.  Merri started her international business in her 20s (long before she knew me) importing Italian clocks to the USA.  This earned so much ($80,000 in the first year) that she created other micro businesses helping orphans in the Yucatan and Haitian lepers (at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital) produce crafts she sold for them in the USA.

Excellent income ($80,000 in the 1970s was a lot of cash)…  incredible contacts… working with Dr. Larimer and Gwen Mellon who created the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti… and enormous satisfaction.  Merri still cries over 40 years later when she tries to speak of the gratitude of the lepers and her time and life in Haiti.

Plus she gained lessons that allowed her to live and earn… in many places and many ways.

Then we got together.

Global Earning Experience #2:  Lords.  Another of Merri’s ideas (in the mid 1980s) was to broker British titles to wealthy Americans.  We made a ton from that… even gained 15 minutes of fame when Gary Trudeau learned about this business and immortalized it by having B.D. Zonker buy a title!

What fun… profitable, plus stimulating, meeting and working with the Blue Bloods of Britain… visiting their castles… invited to their events and affairs.

Before I get ahead of myself, may I ask you a question?

Would you like to have a lifestyle and a front yard like this… almost a thousand acres of hacienda overlooking the Andes?

Would you enjoy living in two, three or even more places wherever and whenever you choose?  Would you be happier with more freedom, lack of debt, and a life of riches, adventure and travel?  Would you be glad to feel confident that you can discover interesting and fun business ideas again and again that not only bring in extra income but also help the poor and improve the environment?

If so then read on… because… that front yard above is ours in a remote Andean hacienda.  This is only one of several homes that we have gained (to live and use in business) from the secrets we’ll share below.

In the summer, we retreat to our 250+ acre farm high in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.  Here’s our front yard in these mountains and the view from my home office.

gary-scott-international-business

Home offices in all your homes are important by the way.  They are part of one global micro business secret and you’ll see why have two home offices (and using two cars in business) can save thousands in taxes.

When you have an international micro business that involves your home and car, the tax benefits are fantastic.

gary-scott-international-business

You can also enjoy such a lifestyle because after years of search, I found business secrets that you can use and enjoy.

Global Earning Experience #3: Hospitality.  Here’s a hotel we owned and operated in Ecuador.  Once we sold this we joined the sharing economy and began offering rentals in our North Carolina cabins through AIRBNB and houses in Florida.  We became designated super hosts within months and added thousands of extra dollars to our income every month.

Caring is just one example of how to live anywhere and earn.  If you provide genuine care in anything you can be anywhere and beat out big businesses in your niche because big business has created an uncaring world and everyone craves care.

gary-scott-international-business

Having a variety of places to live is part of one of the secrets on how to earn more, have a better life with more fun, adventure and greater freedom.

Global Earning Experience #4:  Import-Export.   Here I am at our Florida house showing clients how to import.

gary-scott-international-business

I was wearing a hand tailored, made to order, high quality wool suit from Ecuador that could be imported into the US for as little as $135 .  Plus that Panama hat was made in Ecuador.  This is odd but true, all genuine Panama hats are made in Ecuador.  We imported Ecuador roses year round as well, all from one of our tax deductible US home office.

Dozens-of-roses

The secrets we’ll share below are not about how to buy suits or flowers though.   The secrets show ways to make money (while helping others) marketing products and services wherever you are and much more…. globally.

Global Earning Experience #5:  Green Produce.   We have an orange grove and lake at our Florida home and

gary-scott-international-business

are among the first to test new organic ways to make citrus farming better for the environment and the consumer.  In North Carolina we cultivate Wild American Ginseng as well as aquafarm.

These are just a few of the business experiences that can help you have the freedom to earn globally.  They are shared in our emailed correspondence course, International Business Made EZ.   This course helps you learn how to earn and live wherever you choose!

The course teaches a system based on seven secrets so powerful that it creates money for you regardless of where you are:  in town, out of the country, traveling or even in places as remote as we live.

These secrets have worked for us in real estate… titles… tours… agriculture… clothing… hospitality… alternative health…  spirituality… printing… publishing and art businesses for Merri and me all over the world.

I searched for these elusive secrets of opportunity for over twenty years, looking for a way to gain incredible, outlandish, unbelievable profit potential.

I finally found them and after years of proof and would like to share with you.  The opportunity I sought had to be enormously profitable yet also safe.  It had to work in good times and bad and had to be flexible so it could evolve as times changed.

These were not the only standards.  I wanted to find unbelievable profit and high safety and freedom but also wanted this incredible investment to offer the ultimate tax shelter, something so perfect it would not be even a little bit questionable.  It had to be so tax foolproof that Congress would never change it.

I wanted a tax shelter so good that it would be encouraged by the government.

I feared deep down inside that what I wanted was impossible.  Nevertheless, I scoured the world for over twenty years looking for it.  I looked in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.  But I didn’t find it in Asia.  I went to the Middle East and searched all over Europe… all across the USA and Latin America.  I hardly missed a country.  After twenty years and millions of miles, I guess I gave up.  Only then (as these things so often happen) was it that I found the best opportunity in the world.

This opportunity was not only perfect but I discovered that it was wherever I wanted it to be, in my own back yard, in Florida and our remote home in the High Country of North Carolina and our even more remote cloud forest home in Ecuador.

Merri and I have created a special program we call “Live Well and Free Anywhere” that makes it possible for you to enjoy extra income doing something you love.  You can gain full or part time and enjoy excellent profits as you have fun and do something good in the world.

My search stumbled on the fact that most millionaires make their money in business.  This discovery led to a study of rich businesses, ones that generate everlasting wealth.  Here are five of seven secrets we learned and have used in our  micro businesses:

Secret #1: They must enjoy the multiple effect.  A product once created must produce profits again and again, almost on a never-ending basis.  Each investment made needs to make huge returns.

Secret #2: They need to be greater than their owner’s time.  They must produce income even when the owner doesn’t put in day-to-day effort. You may already be wealthy or earning a high income.  You may not even need another business or extra income, but some day you might.  One surgeon explained it this way.  “I am making a fortune because peoples’ lives are in my hands.  Once my hands are no longer steady, my income stops.   My entire financial well being will then be in someone else’s hands!”

Secret #3: These money making systems should be enjoyable and fun.  Sadly most people make money for the sake of making money.  Many spend their lives working, just to have a few precious hours having fun.  The most important fact about making and keeping wealth is that those who were richest absolutely love what they were doing.  Money is of secondary importance to their effort.  And as things are, this means they actually ended up making more money.

Secret #4: These money making systems need to be flexible.  No matter what the economy brings, your ability to make money should work regardless of inflation, recession or even depression.

Secret #5: These businesses usually start small, but grow quite large.  Good money systems work for large or for small amounts and can be operated on either a full or part time basis.  Most businesses start with a learning curve.  During that time it is essential they are small.  Once the lessons have been learned and the system is operating properly, then it needs to grow for larger and larger returns.

These secrets created a fantastic way to make money with my own international micro business doing what I love!

You too can have everlasting wealth by turning your passion into profit.

Before discovering these secrets I had a business but to be honest could never get ahead.  I was almost penniless, in debt and living from month to month, check to check.  Then I discovered these seven secrets…and how to apply them around the world.

Since then our international micro businesses have brought in millions.  We gained all the physical possessions we desired, plus more than enough money in the bank.

We do not have one penny of debt and we have leisure time… though when you love your business… why not work?

This is most important, we have fun and feel that we do something beyond just making money every day!  Merri and I do what we love and have learned that through our global business we can accomplish far more important goals, gain self fulfillment and be of service to our community.  In short we can help make ourselves and the world better.

Among our greatest thrills is being able to help others through foundations we have started that help the environment and the poor.

More importantly we have the freedom to do all this from many locations (some are remote-you have seen the pictures) that we really enjoy.

You too can have the freedom to do what you love from any place you like, even operating (actually preferably) from your bedroom, dining room or den if you wish.

What do you love? Rare cars?  You can make a fortune creating a business around them.  Do you prefer fine art? Or do you love beautiful jewelry, coins, gems, real estate, furs, model railways, dolls, scientific equipment, war memorabilia, old and rare books, or whatever?  Do you prefer social subjects rather than objects?

Are you concerned with the environment or humanitarian problems, with crimes, war or poverty?  Would you like to help wipe these social problems out in the course of your business?

Are you a golfer? Do you love to travel? Why not make all kinds of money in a global business related to golf?

Would you like to help the world be a more spiritual place, help people get along better together?  You can do something good for the world, increase your income and live wherever you please in the process!

Whatever your passion you can learn how to earn by creating an international micro business based on it.  You can be international if you love to travel or not.  Regardless of your skills and position there is some approach that will work for you.

Take fishing, for example.

I am no great aquafarmer, but the numbers and lifestyle work on a small scale.  We pay about $3.50 a pound to stock the fish, they double, triple, even quadruple in size and we sell them at a local butcher shoppe for a modest profit.   This is not a big deal, but does generate income, helps attract guests to stay in our rental cabins, puts some great trout dinners on our table and is a thoroughly enjoyable part of my daily labor.  I need this to counter balance sitting in front of a computer.

Over a couple of months the fish grow… a lot.

gary scott

We are lucky to have a perfect but natural place to raise the trout.  On busy holidays when our monster trout are in demand I have to work hard fishing at that pond.  Pity me!

merrily farms

This pond is just below our house, so raising the trout is EZ for me.

Millions of people love fishing but don’t have a pond.  This does not mean they cannot be involved in fishing.  Here are just a few of many ways that others have profitably matched this passion with profit.

Two of my friends, John and Lou, grew up near me in the Oregon mountains.  They were outdoor adventure types and moved to Canada, where they homesteaded 1,200 acres on a trout-filled lake in mid British Columbia.  They built a fishing camp that attracts fisherman from around the world.

Duncan Kinderman on the other hand loved fishing and castles.  He bought a castle on the River Tay, a great Scottish salmon river, and offered time shares for fisherman from Britain, Europe and the US.

Another entrepreneur I know was from Montana.  His skills were in marketing so he sold fishing trips for fishing camps.  He attended rod and gun exhibitions, met owners of these camps and arranged to sell their fishing trips to the US, Argentina and even in Russia to fisherman around the world.

Ralph Kylloe on the other hand loved fishing and photography so he created the book, “Fishing Camps”, which was published by Gibbs Smith publisher. This allowed Ralph to travel across the country enjoying fishing camps as he photographed and wrote.

Steve Ambrose, another friend of ours, had family commitments at home so he set up a bass fishing business in Florida that served Americans, Germans, Canadian, Dutch and Belgians.  Later as his children grew, he used his client base to arrange fishing trips in Argentina.

Each of these people had provincial backgrounds and differed in age, situation and skills.  Their common link, the love of fishing, led each to a global micro business.  Each was able to blend a unique nature and set of skills to develop a global business that surrounded them with fun, like minded fishing souls.

Also, imagine what an international business means to your world travel.  Every trip you take can be tax deductible!  You can honestly write off every trip that is related to your business.  Every journey becomes a research oriented adventure and a TAX DEDUCTIBLE EVENT.

For example if you have your own business you can gain $12,976 by using two vehicles for business because  IRS Form 4562, which is filed by proprietorships and corporations, contains spaces for up to six vehicles.

There are similar benefits by having a second home office defined in IRS publication 463 and IRS publication 587.

These are huge tax benefits that can be gained when you have an international, at home,  micro business.

As a real international business person, you’ll have one of the most respected and tax protected businesses in the country.  Every country needs to do business abroad, and most governments have created many programs to encourage their citizens to do business overseas.  Many of those benefits come in the form of reduced tax.  Other benefits come in the form of legal protection and even subsidies and grants.

There is such an abundance of opportunity that Merri and I have created this program to help you have your own international micro business that can be managed almost anywhere.  This program is unique because Merri and I are unique.  We started our global business together.  Since we’re almost recluses, we decided to do the whole business by ourselves… thus we create micro businesses that do not require large staffs.

We began working at home.  Today, though we have tens of thousands of buyers and have made millions, we still work at home on our remote farms and employ only a few people to help.

You can do the same with a system contained in an electronic correspondence course called International Business Made EZ.   The course reveals all you need to know about how to start and run your own global business all by yourself.  It answers your questions and gets your business started!

Thousands have profited from this course which has been updated in its fifth edition.

For example, Ben, an investor from Pennsylvania used International Business Made EZ and wrote:

“Jam packed with vital information.  My head is spinning. Thank goodness this is all backed up by your manual. This is a true and cherished gift. Your tips on low cost business are a blessing!  Thank you once again for an outstanding course.  The value far exceeds the price.”

In just a week, you can be well on your way to income and freedom to live wherever you choose!  International Business Made EZ shows you how to take advantage of the five secrets mentioned above and the remaining two secrets below:

Secret #6: Look for ways to gain 1,000% returns in business.  The wealthiest families in the world today come from global businesses.  Learn how margins can be so incredible that few would believe them.  Learn how to use stories to make huge shifts in the value of products.  Take for example our friend Earl who is a dog trainer.  On a trip to Ecuador clay whistles in the market place were for sale at .35 cents each.  By calling them dog whistles Earl was able to sell them at $9.95,  a whopping 2,700% mark up!

Secret #7:  Create and market your product everywhere using niche marketing.  There are 11 steps to create the perfect product.  You learn them with International Business Made EZ.  Understand how to review ideas, test focus, aim at markets.  Learn where and how to get your data and get others to provide your marketing material for you almost FREE.

Learning how to market is the key to successful business. Knowing how to turn pennies into dollars is good marketing focus. International Business Made EZ gives you this winning marketing knowledge.

You’ll learn how to turn advertising dollars into a fortune.  You’ll learn how to create your own ads and when to use the internet… search engines… pay per click… classifieds, space ads, direct mail or word of mouth… even flea markets and roadside stands in some cases.

See how to build a PR list and social business network on the World Wide Web to gain thousands of dollars in free publicity.  I even share my most secret results on my marketing so you will know why sometimes you sell more units of a product at $49 instead of $29.

Learn how one couple used ads about retirement to supplement their retirement income and received free trips all over the world.

Learn how we have made money over the Internet (specific details, specific experiences, hard earned knowledge over the last 13 years!)  With an inexpensive computer you can easily run a business from home and still have tons of time left over – even if you are computer challenged.  Merri and I have certainly proven this.  We were one of the first to run a successful website and still rank high today even with millions of competitors.  The secrets in the course include a step-by-step approach.

Merri and I with our webmaster, David Cross, were leaders in beginning internet micros businesses and have sold millions over the web.  You gain ways to earn global income over the net from that experience as well.

At www.garyascott.com our emailed messages are regularly sent to over 20,000 readers.

You learn the income producing power of defined focus and immediate repetition to get good search engine rankings and sales.

You can earn successfully while living anywhere because people of all ages are doing this.  Technology wiped out any disadvantages of age and gender.  A USA Today article entitled “The new entrepreneurs: Americans over 50” explains that older business people often start one person ventures in home offices using technology that did not exist a few years ago.  The article gave an example of Franny Martin who launched a cookie company at age 56 and said she built revenues to over $500,000 a year.   Yet her web site which attracts cookie customers from around the world cost only $3,000 to build.

International Business Made EZ is arranged in an easy to understand style.  Everything is explained in vivid detail.  We share all, how we have done it ourselves.  The course is full of business ideas and case studies based on our 48 years of experience.

The course  describes on a step-by-step basis, how Merri and I built a multi-million dollar international micro business in just 7 years and how you can do the same.

Terry T., an attorney from Germany took the course and enjoyed this fact when he stated, “What I like most is that it is a nuts and bolts course-not pie in the sky.

Learn How to Gain Total Security.  Learn how and why the global economy makes employment riskier because change is no longer an option.  See ways to become and agent of and profiteer from change never a victim of change.

Learn How to Perfect a Lifestyle.  Living as you choose is important because life is short.  Fortunately matching what you love with what you do in business actually increases profits.

George K an MD from California confirmed this when he wrote:

Your course helped me to crystallize and clarify ideas I’ve been considering that relate to my interests in writing, travel and ecology.  They showed ways to combine them in a personally engaging and potentially profitable way.  I especially appreciated the practical advice on organizing and marketing-turning ideas into products that sell and make a profit.”

A retired railway executive from Michigan picked up on this aspect and said more.

“Your course opened my eyes to the merits, profits, and prestige of becoming an international businessman, particularly the idea of doing business in Canada for distribution in the U.S. (for total tax protection).”

Learn How to Market your Product.  Learn truths that rule the market place.  Gain knowledge on subjects like… How to Make the Truth Exciting. Create your own Sales Story…  How to Deal With Cultural Differences…  How to Build Global Lists and Use International PR…  How to Spot the National Psyche and Quadruple Profits With Multimedia Marketing…  How to Choose Businesses as Pioneers or as Settlers.

Tom K., an engineer from Ohio, cashed in on this idea and wrote, “Basically, I learned the selling and marketing implications.  The course is absolutely worth the price!”

Learn  How to Obtain What You Need from the Net.  How to Use the Web to Reach your Market.  How to develop your site, target your market and start getting visits. The top ten Internet tips to use, the top ten traps to avoid, and many other lessons our Webmaster has used in his many years on the net. This system is so simple anyone can use it.

“Thank you for taking the mystery out of business and bringing it down to the ham and eggs level.” L – Chiropractor – Oklahoma”

Learn the Importance of Business Evolution.  It is vital to success and fulfillment that your business has balance and grows in harmony.

Rachel B, a housewife from Washington, enjoyed learning this fact and told us, “The idea of starting at the lowest cost level was terrific.”

Learn How to Set up Your Banking Structure.   Learn all you’ll need about the financial end: How to control inventory, keep overheads down, check ad results and stay on top of your business.  Learn 11 hazards to avoid and tricks to stay profitable without a daily accountant.

International Business Made EZ contains all these secrets and more.

One delegate, Ted T. a publisher from California said:

“Your course is outstanding! Just two hours of study alone were worth more than the price.”

While Kelly, a business woman from Atlanta, explained:

“It was great going through your steps, being 100% honest without fear of giving trade secrets since you have paid the price (to gain this knowledge).”

Who is helped by International Business Made EZ?

This correspondence course is for those who would like their own international micro business for fun and profit.

Business people or professionals who want to add an extra profit center to their business or who want to change their business entirely will benefit.  Those who want more control over their career can profit.  Plus those who love global travel and want to turn their trips into profitable tax deductions!

Your tax savings in a year can be worth ten, twenty even 100 times the cost of International Business Made EZ.

Even older entrepreneurs are taking advantage of technology.  One of our friends and clients, Mickey E., was a 72 year old real estate broker, when she began a small global business.  With just a computer and internet, she created publications that attracted English real estate buyers.  This allowed her to become a top sales person in the biggest real estate firm (selling over a billion dollars of real estate a year) in town.  She later used the tactics she learned to move to Ecuador (in here late 70s) and start a micro business there.

If you want fun, freedom, extra income and fulfillment with your own full or part time international micro business, or want to build your existing business, you can profit by International Business Made EZ.

This course is also for couples who want their own business or who want to have a business together or a family business.

This is the perfect course for those who can no longer find employment, who are looking for ways to earn abroad and who wish to retire and supplement their income.

An employed couple from New York wrote, “We found the course interesting and informative.  We were inspired to start work on an international project.  When we came down, we had no idea on what to do.”

There is nowhere else to gain such a unique network of information and help.  We have a successful international business with over 20,000 readers in dozens of countries so you gain practical current business contacts that are active now.

“The first thing that strikes you when you start this course is how quickly and simply Gary cuts through many of the common misunderstandings about doing business internationally.  In fact anyone with even a small local business could learn a wealth of practical marketing and sales strategies and tips through International Business Made EZ.”

More Comments from Readers

“I completed International Business Made EZ in a (long!) weekend and – unlike many business books and courses – I didn’t fall asleep whilst reading it! I found it helpful to refer back to whilst I put my business ideas into action and the business and banking contacts in the course were worth their weight in gold.”

“There is a lot of rubbish written about business and ‘get rich quick schemes’ and I seem to receive some sort of junk mail or spam e-mail most days trying to sell me a ‘get rich quick’ idea, but I found Gary’s course genuinely different.”

“Firstly, the International Business Made EZ course is written by someone who has tried and proven his international business and then chose to share those practical examples in a course rather than as ‘pie-in-the-sky theory’. Secondly, although the course would show even hard-nosed, skeptical business people a few things about doing business internationally, it is written in a completely unassuming and open way and this makes it easy for anyone to gain maximum benefit in the minimum amount of time from the course.”

This electronic “International Business Made EZ” costs $299. You gain incredible education and the importance of the knowledge for you and your family’s wealth.

The course is so complete Merri and I extend our “no fooling around-complete satisfaction guarantee” and a special offer because “International Business Made EZ” is only one small part of the special program we have developed for you.

Here is the first part of the special offer.  We provide two emailed courses… “International Business Made EZ”,  and “Self Fulfilled – How to Write to Sell and be a Self Publisher”.

We include the “Self Fulfilled Writing and Self Publishing Course” because there are two reasons to write, when you have something to say or when you have something to sell.  In this day and age many of us want to do both, make a statement that makes the world a better place and earn something extra in the process.

Whatever your passion, however you do business, chances are you’ll be writing either to create a product or to sell a product.

Merri and I use writing and self publishing in our business.  We have earned as much as $20,000 for a single day’s work… and have earned consistently year in and year out… while we do what we love… because of a few secrets.  We write to be self fulfilled… to share what we have gained from living, working, investing and writing all over the world.

We wanted to share these secrets so we created a Self Publishing “Writer’s Camp” weekend seminar.  We offered the course for $1,500 and were surprised when 80 delegates enrolled.  People from all walks of life attended—chiropractors, businessmen, investors, doctors, realtors, inventors, airline pilots, engineers, and housewives.  Those who attended love the seminar.

Merri and I were so overwhelmed by the response, we decided to make it available to a larger audience.  We created a written course based on our current self publishing activity.  Then we recorded the weekend “Writer’s Camp” seminar.

Thousands have used the course as it has evolved over the decades.

You receive both the written course and the recorded weekend seminar, in an MP3 file, in the “Live Well and Free Anywhere” program I am making available to you.  The normal fee is $299 for each course (and $299 for the recorded workshop).   We’ll send both courses and the recorded Writer’s Camp to you by email for $299.  You save $598.

We are so confident that you’ll gain from this offer that if you are not fully satisfied, simply email us within 60 days for a full refund .

Does that sound fair enough?

Plus you get more in the program.

You receive the Report, “How to Finance a Small Business Overseas” (no extra fee).

Merri and I have always preferred to start our micro businesses  through cash flow.  However in the early the days of our business I found myself raising extra capital several times.  I have also helped numerous businesses raise money to get started.  This report shares several experiences to give a thumbnail sketch of how to raise money abroad.

In addition you receive any updates we make on any of these courses reports or recordings, free for a year.  Businesses usually need to evolve.  Merri and I continue to publish and have our independent businesses.  Some basics have remained for decades, but new strategies occur all the time throughout the year.  We’ll be sending along updates that share our most recent experiences as we learn and continue to grow our international micro business from Smalltown USA.

Early Retirement in Ecuador

Early retirement in Ecuador has several attractions… because of Ecuador’s wonderful people.

One attraction to early retirement in Ecuador is a labor pool that offers much more than just low cost.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Merri and I know the value of Ecuador’s people and how they can help early retirement in Ecuador. Here I am with the manager of  Meson de las Flores.   He is an incredible person whom we trust totally.  The staff loves him.

According to a recent USA Today article,  When 1,097 Americans 45 and older were surveyed last December, 9% of them said they had lost their jobs in the past 12 months, and 31% of workers that age said that it is very likely that jobs will be eliminated this year, according to AARP’s 2009 report.

Baby Boomers also are out of work longer than younger Americans. Last year, they were out of work 22 weeks on average, compared with 15 weeks for the 20- to 24-year-old age group, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

They may find it hard to get a new job because they’ve had higher salaries. And that means they may have a higher threshold before they’re willing to take another job, says Maria Heidkamp, a senior project manager at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University.

But they also may be rusty about applying for a job, and their skills may be out of date, she says.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Our two chefs (Santiago and Alberto) at Meson are  a fraction the cost of a US or Canadian chef but do an incredible job. We continually get raves about the delicious food at the hotel.

One person quoted in the article had lost several jobs in information technology because his employers thought his work could be done more cheaply outside the USA and he saw his money slowly flittering away.”  He took a minimum wage job at a car rental firm, to just keep up with bills but then even lost that job.

The article said that even workers who thought they had planned perfectly and saved enough for their retirement are refocusing.

There are two seeds of an Ecuador early retirement idea that takes advantage of early retirement in Ecuador or anywhere that offers lower cost living.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Everyone tells how caring our food servers (Eduardo and Consuelo).  They always remember what you want and how you like it. They really do care about your happiness.

The first seed is that labor costs are lower outside the USA and that labor is very willing to work.   Perhaps the man in Ecuador could take early retirement in Ecuador and start a business that takes advantage of this good low labor cost.

He could turn his problem into an opportunity and take advantage of  Ecuador’s labor pool to start an information technology business that serves his former bosses, and others like him in the US, who let him go.

Early retirement in Ecuador or any country with a good pool of workers can turn one of our great disadvantages into an advantage.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Our cleaning staff are the two…

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Rositas (Rosita Molena and Rosita de la Torres).  They do much more than clean rooms.  They are the hotel mothers looking after all of us with love,  real nurturing, devotion, willingness and smiles.

The second seed is that the cost of living in Ecuador is low.  The high US and Canadian costs of  living make it harder to start a business.

Whether you are young or old,  there may be benefits of taking an early retirement in Ecuador.

Think outside the box and adapt to changing conditions.  Just 3 hours and 45 minutes south of  the USA is a pool of low cost, happy, hard working, earnest labor.

Alberto Verdesoto (left leading our staff at a Quito seminar) looks after our delegates on tour.  He has over a decade in Ecuador tourism and is assisted by Mauricio Bonilla (below also), who is graduating with a degree in Business Tourism.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

An early retirement in Ecuador can benefit from Ecuador’s wonderful people.  They help make living pleasant and offer great skill, combined with genuine care and desire to serve at an affordable price.

Ecuador’s people can make your retirement more enjoyable, plus form the core of  a successful early retirement income.

Gary

Here is the typical praise we receive about our staff at Meson.

Merri:  Just thought you might like to know that Michael and I have enjoyed our two real estate tours, and feel like we have achieved our goal of an over-view of Ecuador and the available types of property.

Mauricio has really gone the extra mile to be helpful to us, and is a great asset to your team. His “can-do” attitude has enhanced our visit.

Alberto is always there with a smile and a hand to help me out of the bus, and I so appreciate the special attention, as I am a little wobbly on stairs.

Eduardo at Meson is another asset to your group and makes an extra effort to please.  The girls who serve the food there are also very nice.  Looking forward to meeting you and Gary, hopefully at the IBEZ Seminar in October or one of the upcoming Import/Export Tours… Thanks again.

Ecuador Flower Longevity

Ecuador’s flower longevity is one reason why Ecuador rose and Ecuador lilies make such a great gift.

See how to order Ecuador Roses here

See how to order Ecuador Lilies here

Recently I wrote how my order of 25 Ecuador lilies actually gave us almost 100 blossoms. There are three or four blossoms on each Ecuador lily.

I arranged three full vases of Ecuador lilies. Here is one…

ecuador-roses

two and…

ecuador-roses

three.

ecuador-roses

These arrangements lasted over two weeks!

Then we traveled to our daughter’s home for a visit in Florida and some of the Ecuador lilies we sent her for Easter still looked good… even though they were two weeks old.  Here they are.

ecuador-roses

Now I have been able to see a good example of Ecuador rose longevity as well.

For Mother’s Day, I sent my mom red Ecuador roses.  They were delivered Tuesday May 5th.

Regretfully mom was then hospitalized.

We flew out to Portland May 11th.  Some of the roses had been brought along to the hospital where they did not receive any care… sitting in direct sunlight…not put in water immediately and then this was water stale.  They were almost gone.

Fortunately on May 12 we brought mom home (yea, she said!) and I dragged these wilting Ecuador roses along.  I snipped their ends and put them in fresh water.

We saw amazing results by the next day.

On the way back I also stopped at Safeway and bought a dozen yellow roses from Colombia.  Thus we can compare.

ecuador-roses

I took this photo on May 14, nine days after these mistreated Ecuador roses were delivered.

They still looked great.

I added in a couple of the super market Colombia yellow roses for comparison. The yellow roses were two days out of the store.

You can see the difference in the size of the heads.

History suggests that the Colombian roses never fully open and that the Ecuador roses will last two or three times longer.

The Ecuador roses cost $1.59 per stem delivered to mom’s doorstep… including over the one fourth of the price ($20 of the $79) being donated to Land of the Sun to help the poor of Ecuador.

The Colombia roses were .83 cents a stem at the store.

Plus the Ecuador roses are environmentally certified.

In short the 365 days a year of direct sunlight mean that Ecuador flowers are bigger, longer lasting and brighter than most roses you’ll find in any super market… plus thanks to Fedex they can be delivered directly to your door.

Ecuador Nutrition

The ancients of Ecuador understood the importance of nutrition.

ecuador-nutrition

Ecuador Nutrition. Ecuador healers emphasize nature and nutrition. Here a shaman places fruit for a purification ceremony.

A recent message looked at an Ecuador Health Tip.  Here is another… Ecuador shaman’s belief that one of the most important aspects of health is nutrition.

Spring is the hardest time of the year on digestion. This is the sluggish season that requires a diet most unlike eaten in the Western world… lots of light salads and greens.

ecuador-nutrition

Here in the Blue Ridge of North Carolina, the local wisdom is to plant lettuce, onions, potatoes and radishes on Good Friday and the rest of the crops on Mother’s Day.  This is not bad advice. Our temperature dropped to 29 degrees F after Mother’s Day!

I cheat a bit and plant early in pots that I can move into our green house during cold snaps.  Here is our lettuce starting.

In times past, nature provided for our seasonally adjusted diet and in the spring the main supply of food available was exactly what was needed.

ecuador-nutrition

Radishes are revered in the Andes. This is the first crop available in spring… light and spicy… both elements that help stimulate digestion.  And radishes are the sacred food of the Maya…because they signify the first crop!

Today however refrigeration, regional and global trade means that most people do not alter their diet.

In spring, we need a good clean out and a light diet.  Those who do not get this risk having a sluggish digestion.

A recent article in the Times of London entitled “Diet not lack of exercise is the cause of obesity” confirms this thought.  Here is an excerpt.

A study of the US obesity “epidemic” — a precursor of world dietary trends — suggests that there has not been any significant reduction in levels of exercise in the past 30 years. It concludes that the surge in obesity is a result of excessive calories.

Last year the largest British study into obesity, backed by the Government and compiled by 250 experts, concluded that excess weight had become the norm. It predicted that by 2050, 90 per cent of today’s children will be overweight or obese — costing taxpayers an estimated £50 billion.

Health professionals and campaigners welcomed the latest findings, presented at the European Congress on Obesity in Amsterdam, as evidence of the need to focus on diet and the availability and overpromotion of highly calorific foods.

Among children the tests showed a 100 per cent match, leading researchers to conclude that changes in physical activity had had no impact on children in the US growing fatter.

He said that US children had grown on average 9lb heavier and adults were 17lb more. For the US population to return to leaner 1970s levels children would have to cut their intake by about 350 calories a day — equal to a can of fizzy drink and a small portion of fries, and adults by about 500 calories — about the same as a Big Mac burger. Alternatively children would have to walk an extra 2½ hours a day, and adults nearly two hours.

Ecuador’s shamans agree that nutrition is a key to good health. When we lived with the Taita Yatchak and his apprentices, nutrition was the key factor they focused on.

They also emphasized that good digestion was the first step to good nutrition.

Keeping calories down is vital.  Improving quality of food is important as well.  However, you can eat the best food in the world but if your digestive system is not working correctly, you’ll not absorb the nutrients.

Here are three of the steps the yatchak took to get and keep good digestion include:

#1: Only eat on an empty stomach. Leave at least four hours between meals and start easy.  Breakfast was a highly and easily digestible meal.  The usual breakfast consisted of a grain (wheat, oat, quinoa) that was ground into a very fine powder.  A boiled juice made from fruit and dried cane juice (a dissolved very rough brown sugar-In India they call it jaggery) was then added in to taste.

#2: Do not mix salt and sugar.  This combination is hard to digest. Meals are either sweet or salty. Usually the morning and evening meals are sweet. The noon meal, is the largest meal of the day and is usually salt.

#3:  Use spices to stimulate the digestive system… ginger especially.

ecuador-nutrition

The yatchak fed us plenty of quinoa… the only complete vegetable protein.

ecuador-nutrition

Plus many leafy green vegetables, berries and juices. This is blackberry syrup… used on powdered oatmeal.

Andean health principles are similar to Ayurved, India’s science of life.  This is not surprising as the root of the Andean language Quechua is Sanskrit.

A recent email from Ayurvedic physician John Douillard explains why.  In this email John wrote:

Ginger is perhaps one of the world’s finest digestive aids that won’t overheat the digestive process.

Black Pepper stimulates the flow of your own digestive enzymes.

Long Pepper helps to strengthen the digestion and break down hard to digest foods – and like ginger it won’t overheat the digestive process.

John explained about Trikatu, an Ayurvedic medicine made of long and black pepper and ginger.  Trikatu, is a base ingredient for thousands of medical remedies.  John wrote:

“What I love about Trikatu is that a patient who has poor digestion (ie. gas, bloating, heavy stomach, indigestion, constipation and abdominal pain) can restore normal and healthy digestive function and then steadily wean off it.”  (See below how to read John’s entire message).

Long pepper is a spice used mainly in the Mediterranean, and in Indian, African, and Indonesian cooking. The plant has a peppery taste similar to black pepper, though a bit hotter.

In Aryuvedic medicine, long and black pepper and ginger are used together to created trikatu, a base ingredient for thousands of medical remedies. Alone, Long pepper can also be used to help with coughs, colds, fevers, and a variety of stomach conditions.

One Andean purification tea (to bathe in and drink) is composed of cinnamon, start anise (above-very inexpensive in the market) and…

ecuador-nutrition

Pimiento Dulce or sweet pepper. This is called Black Cardomon in many places. Simmer all three spices together in a quart of water.  Let the concoction cool.  Drink some.  Dilute the rest in two gallons of hot water.  Ladle over the body in a bathtub. It’s cleansing and refreshing.

One way to view all of existence is as differing forms of digestion.  Everything absorbs other things and becomes something else.  That’s life… digestion.  Good digestion of reality creates a good life. Good digestion of food helps create physical health.  One way to spice up your digestion in spring is with light food, Trikatu and Ecuador’s shamanic wisdom above.

Gary-with-roses

Here I am with 250 fresh Ecuador roses I had delivered for Merri’s birthday.

Merri and I love Ecuador for the warmth and friendliness in the hearts of its people. We also love Ecuador’s beauty.  When an opportunity to send Ecuador roses and raise money for the poor occurred earlier this year, we grabbed the chance.

I wrote about the roses, made a special offer and sold over 5,000 roses that raised $2,000 for our Land of the Sun Foundation that helps Ecuador’s poor. The money was used to provide schooling for gifted indigenous children and to buy a  InFocus projector used in our free English classes for Ecuadorian children that the foundation provides.

So we offered Ecuador Christmas roses and sold over 9,000 raising $3,660 for LOTS!

This is a batch of 100 fresh Ecuador roses that Merri and I enjoyed earlier this year.

Dozens-of-roses

Premium Quality Roses

Though this is not the lowest price for roses you will see in the Mother’s Day season, these roses are special, not like anything offered in a store or even at most florists. These are premium roses with extra large heads that open fully.

Fresher Quality Roses

Most roses go from Ecuador to Miami by air and are stored in Miami then shipped by truck until they sit in a store.

Here are some of the fresh Ecuador roses at our hotel Meson de las Flores.

Environmentally Clean Roses

The roses your receive are certified by Veriflora. The VERIFLORA seal is a real, green program that regularly spot check farms for ecologically sound systems that include:

Dining-room-roses

Here is a red and bi color combination of fresh Ecuador roses we had delivered to us in North Carolina.

Fair Trade Roses

In addition the Verflora seal requires the rose grower to be socially responsible adhering to recognized labor and community standards, specially pertaining to health and safety, work conditions, hiring practices, discrimination, harassment and fair pay.

The growers offer every single one of their workers:

-free doctor and medical treatment at the farm for workers
-day care facilities for infants
-free breakfast and lunch (and dinner when they work late)
-free sports and recreation facilities
-small business loans -when workers want to leave to set up their own small   holding farm
-workers fund -for financial help with school fees to buy a car, etc
-complete health and safety equipment provided free -helmets , gloves, masks, etc
-paid maternity leave with a guarantee of work when they want to return
-overtime paid over and above the legal requirements
-Christmas parties, summer holiday excursions, sports tournaments

-a safe and secure work environment with job satisfaction and potential for personal development

Experience the warmth of the people and beauty of Ecuador as you celebrate the new year…the freshest…best and best smelling roses…as you help the environment and the poor by having them delivered into your and your loved one’s homes.

Ecuador Crafts – After the Fall

Ecuador crafts can provide opportunity for three reasons we’ll review here.

Ecuador crafts people are excellent in the crafts business. they start and learn early on.

Ecuador-Crafts

Merri and I have returned to our North Carolina farm for spring planting.  The local wisdom is that lettuce, radishes, potatoes and  onions should be planted on Good Friday. Everything else goes in on Mother’s Day.

Things change slowly here in the mountains except the seasons.   Spring really does jump out quickly here.

One day the branches are bare. Next day there is a distinctive red blush as the buds have popped out seemingly overnight. You can see the red tinge in this shot I took from my office window yesterday.

ecuador-crafts

Saturday all we had in the lawn was green. Easter the dandelions were there.

ecuador-crafts

This makes me happy.   My favorites are the dandelion salad and the dandelion quinoa pancakes that Merri cooks for breakfast… topped with one of the great blue eggs that our hens lay.

Here’s my morning collection sitting on the kitchen counter…waiting!

ecuador-crafts

While out collecting those eggs a thought about change… the change that’s going on… in the Western world… in the entire world, popped into my mind.

Here is the thought.

Change comes suddenly… like the spring. One moment it’s not.  Then suddenly it is.  Yet really change isn’t sudden. The forces that created the dandelions and the tree buds have been at work for quite some time.  The physical manifestation that we see only seems sudden because we do not see the subtle shifts that are happening everyday that bring this explosion of apparent change.

Take for example, yesterday’s message that showed how America’s debt has been growing and the US dollar falling since 1969.

A further look at the graph from that message… with this new thought in mind… shows how the change really began in the 1940s… because since then… America has almost always been at war… the occupation… Korea… VietNam… the Cold War…  Iraq… twice.  Afganistan.

This huge cost… plus others (such as Social Security) have created continual change… though it may seem that we are just seeing the big shift now. deficit chart I have studied this change for 40 years. Just understanding the greenback’s fall has been enough to prosper… but this new thought crystallized an error.

I have been studying the fall of the Roman Empire to see what I could learn from the past about our change now.

Here is the error.  I should have been studying who succeeded… and how after the fall.

I will now study this and suspect here are a few of the rules that the Italians who thrived and prospered post Post Roman Empire.

#1: They accepted the change and did not bury their heads in the sand.

#2: They saw the change as an opportunity… and grasped it.

#3: They moved to or already were in safe places out of any battle zones.

#4: They did not display their wealth (the Latin habit to this day is to live within walled courtyards- modest outside- luxurious within).

#5: They took risks based on fundamental distortions created by those who did not embrace change.

#6: They were frugal.

#7: They were independent.

This type of thinking shows why Ecuador crafts make sense from a business point of view.

Ecuador-Crafts

One way we can see change is in an article from Time Magzine entitled “Here’s to the Death of Broadcast” by James Poniewozik.  The article says:

When ER goes off the air April 2, we will say goodbye to more than the medical staffers who have lived, loved and been tragically killed off for sweeps over the years. We will also say goodbye to the era of broadcast TV it represented: the era of big shows, big audiences and big money.

In 1994, when ER debuted, NBC, CBS and ABC ruled TV. The fourth network, Fox, had no top-20 shows. Cable was flourishing but was hardly a threat. Only a handful of dorks (like me) were using “graphical user interfaces” like Netscape to look at something called the World Wide Web.

Fifteen years later, the networks are, as the TV docs say, crashing. In the 1994-95 season, 43% of U.S. households, on average, watched the Big Four at a given moment in prime time. Now it’s 27%.

Programmers and cultural critics are warning of the end of the mass-media era, when shows from I Love Lucy to Seinfeld joined tens of millions of Americans in a common experience.

Shigras in Otavalo Ecuador crafts market:

Ecuador-Crafts

As we shift from the era of broadcast to broadband, we’ll no longer have an entire population mesmerized by the same performers, programs and modes of thought.  Smaller unique businesses with quality products such as organic Ecuador crafts produced by individual crafts people will thrive.

Ecuador crafts include some great art like these religious reproductions.

Ecuador crafts are perfect products positioned to sell well in the broadband era ahead… organic… authentic…colorful… exotic…useful and meaningful.

One does not have to be crafty to prosper from change… but many can prosper from more hand made crafts… from Ecuador or anywhere in the world.

Until next message, may you prosper from change.

In Ecuador we offer two 2-4-1 tours this May and June.

Economic downturn?

Yesterday’s New York Times article entitled “Jobless Rate Hits 8.5%; 663,000 Jobs Lost” said:

The unemployment rate reached its highest level in a quarter-century after 663,000 jobs were lost in March, the 15th consecutive month of job losses.

Yet our Ecuador and other businesses are expanding so fast that I can barely keep up. More and more readers are wanting to know… “How do you increase affluence like this when so many are losing it?”

This created the 2-4-1 concept that offers a special opportunity for you.

I cannot be in two places at once but I can make to possible for you to gain all the information I know and see what I am talking about for yourself by visiting Ecuador.

For example we have three Ecuador tours scheduled for May 2009.

Ecuador Coastal Real Estate Tour May 16-17

Imbabura-Cotacachi Real Estate Tour May 20-21

Ecuador Amazon Herbal Tour May 22-24

Merri and I will not be on these three tours and we do want to meet you. So to make sure we can meet, we will let you attend these either one of the May real estate tours free if you enroll in one of our three International Made EZ  courses, in July, October or November.

Ecuador Living Benefit

Ecuador living offers many benefits, one being that it stimulates the sluggish Ecuadorian economy. However, all of human existence is one of polarity.  Black must have white, positive needs negative and money always brings a rising price.

Ecuador-hotel-staff

Take Eduardo and Consuelo, who work at our Ecuador Hotel El Meson de las Flores. The hotel was in receivership and empty when our foundation Land of the Sun bought it to help stimulate the economy in this part of the Ecuador countryside.  By bringing people we have helped save their jobs.

A reader raised a good question about this though when he wrote:

“Gary, I’ve received your email newsletter for about six months now.  I have been interested in real estate in Ecuador for about a year.  I’ve been to Ecuador twice in the past year, and am going again July 1.  On the one hand I understand your enthusiasm for Ecuador, but on the other I wonder how pushing Ecuador real estate will impact the local population?  Obviously if you are a property holder, it’s a good thing; but if you’re not, but hope to be, outside money could push many locals out of the market.  Is this creating any kind of animosity toward outsiders?  I’d appreciate your insight on this.  I am an economist with a focus on international finance, so I enjoy all aspects of your writings.  Regards.”

This has been a never ending story since the beginning of time..everywhere, neighborhood to neighborhood, city to city, county to county and country to country.

So far the majority of Ecuadorians love us….as much or more as our neighbors here in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge mountains.

Most Ecuadorians cannot afford property because the locals were pushed out of the market by the Spanish about 500 years ago…just as American natives in the US were pushed out by the English, Germans, Irish, Scots, Italians, Chinese and others who arrived here.

Our arrival in Ecuador creates jobs, hope and a chance that many more Ecuadorians will be able to own their own land.

However the problem goes beyond just a few investors arriving from the US, Canada, Span, Italy and many from Colombia and Peru.   This is a time of transition for Ecuador with the final phase of the colonial hierarchal system near its end.  Whether the locals in Ecuador like it or not…just as people in many other countries do not like it, we all live in a global economy.   Many Americans did not like selling so much property to the Japanese in the 1980s.  They will gripe now as Europeans buy big chunks of Florida.  The Floridians will gripe. Yet they will sell, take the money and move to North Carolina…where the North Carolinians will gripe about the inflow of Floridians.

Prices will equalize anywhere there is a distortion, locally…nationally or globally.

Water gushes down. Air rushes into vacuums.  Money flows towards good value.

We see this in the United States with gas prices rising to $4 a gallon.  This is not as bad as in Europe where gas runs $7 or $8 a gallon….but it is still a shock to those of us who can remember…(yes it’s true) gas at 19.9 cents a gallon.

Gas is a global commodity. Americans have to pay the going rate.

Ecuador property is a global commodity…in an ever growing global economy.

I am a full blooded American…born and raised in the USA…as you can get.

Today, I am wearing all American clothes beginning with my American Converse tennis shoes (made in China), my American Wrangler jeans (made in Mexico), my American Fruit of the Loom underwear (made in El Salvador) and my American Van Heusen shirt (made in Bangladesh).  So even if I stayed in America, unless I plan on running around shoeless and naked, I will encroach on people in other countries…pushing up property prices for factories…that create jobs…help feed families…and create pollution. Positive…negative…positive…this never ends.

My first book “Passport to International Profit” was published in the early 1970s and included a chapter on “border blindness.”  This chapter looked at how political borders are illusions that support hidden agendas for the few who encourage them.  Borders  are transcended by almost all human emotions. Get a pretty Italian and handsome Irishman together and they will fall in love. Put a Mexican with a cheaper tomato next to a hungry Canadian and the Canadian will get out his loonies and buy the tomato. Put an Englishman and Frenchman in a sinking ship and they will both bail water.

The market place of humanity tramples borders. The deepest nature of our existence supports free trade and free movement of all to anywhere in the world.

Since that book was written…modern communications and transportation have made all of this even more true.   For example at Cotacachi communications see how broadband has changed the way we can live in Cotacachi.

We are, at the deepest level of our being, all citizens of the world.  It is logical and correct that we trade with those who serve us best…whether they bring products to us (like the tomatoes, shirts, shoes, pants and even underwear) or we go to the product (real estate abroad).

I have found that if one treats people with fairness and respect, these courtesies will be returned.  This was as true when we moved from Florida to Ashe County, North Carolina…where Floridians are called “Floridiots” by many locals…because they pay too much for the land and drive prices beyond the local abilities.

I know we are loved by our friends and staff in Ecuador.   Cotacachi Ecuador Hospitality shows how they treated Merri on Mother’s Day.

We are loved up here in North Carolina as well…not because we are Americans or Floridians or because we are red, white or black, Christians, Muslims or Jews, but because of how we act with our friends, neighbors and business associates.

When you treat people right…you become known as a friend not a nationality.

We are loved because we try to treat people with care, respect and fairness.  We bring in money and bring them work.

Few economies, local or national can isolate themselves from the global economy and enjoy a high material standard of living.

Ask the people of Mynmar if you do not believe this.

What a grand experiment (though I do not see it happening) would be for
mankind to eliminate all borders, customs, immigrations and nationalities for a decade.  My bet is we would never go back.

In Ecuador I do not see a resentment problem…but let’s allow the people of Ecuador have ther say. A leaflet has been posted on buildings and telephone poles all around San Clemente, the small village where Merri and I have bought our beach condos.  This was not put up by us..nor by the developer of the condo where we are buying.  This was written by locals in San Clemente.

I asked John Papski, our man on Ecuador’s beach, to translate it.   Here is what the Ecuadorians are saying about our arrival in their small fishing village with a five star spa hotel and a 61 unit luxury condo development  that will change the village’s life forever.

TRANSLATION

“Ecuador has a population of 13 million (2008 )and 3 million that live abroad (23% ).  Parents have immigrated leaving their children; people left for lack of work, pessimistic views of the future without opportunities, corruption, globalization and neo-liberalist practices have contributed to a disappearance of opportunity for individual, family and social development.

“San Clemente has an approximate population of 4500. There is a need for 600 new jobs per year for the youth but nature and the sea does not allow sufficient funds for welfare, health and studies.

“However, tourism is one of the few chances left for Ecuador and its youth.

“The marvelous beaches of San Clemente attract people that travel many hours, save and borrow money so they and their families can spend on food, lodging, water, beer, sun lotions, repellents, handcrafts and return home broke but content knowing that health, welfare, lust for life, relaxed has prepared them to continue the hard fight in the city. They have integrated with nature with the immense help of the sea and its marvelous sounds and movements, with the wonder of the beach and hills that surround, wonder of tranquil people, amiable and service orientated to all visitors with humanity, smiles, assistance and hospitality.

“Our visitors dream during their happy stay of a swift return to our beach or perhaps remain here forever. The beach tourists do not come to Rocafuerte or Charapoto (nearby towns ). They come to San Clemente.

“Bahia apartment owners come to us because they know our beach is a great treasure with fantastic potential of nature, not enclosed in sad cement but green, blue, orange living nature. Look after nature as we care for ourselves and defend the future of our youth.”

There you have it, a local view of what they think of us.

So far I believe we are more than welcome.  I hope that Merri and I and all we bring along have the wisdom to be with the wonderful people of Ecuador in a way so they are not just happy that we come…but that they also want us to stay.

I invite you to join us in the wonderful adventure and as human beings who are citizens of the world!
