The Profit Secret in Multi-tasking


I am a triple multitaskaholic.  

Often I multitask two, sometimes three.  There are so many things to do, communicate with family and friends, write every day, keep the meadows and forests in shape, look after our guests, take care of health and spirit.  Plus so much more.

These are not jobs I feel that I have to do, this is what I want to do!

For example, I believe in listening to special classical music that helps stabilize hearing and balances the mind every day.  I believe in spending time in an infrared sauna. I believe in daily  meditation.  So I do all three at once, meditate in the sauna while listening to that special classical music.

Merri and I have always multi tasked in business as well, doing what we love as a profitable second business.

We are writers and publishers first and foremost, but have always (since I was 19) dabbled in real estate also.

We all need to invest our savings, so make it fun! 

Merri and I invest in value equities and currency distortions, but real estate is our love.  We enjoy searching for houses to buy, cleaning, painting and landscaping.   We find a real satisfaction when we turn a beat up old place into a comfortable jewel.

The New York Times article “He Is Building a Home. And a Career in the N.B.A.” gives an example of how one professional athlete uses this concept.

The article says: Pat Connaughton, a reserve guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, is forging his own path in basketball while continuing a family tradition of working in real estate.

Pat Connaughton has crammed enough high-flying acrobatics into his drives down the lane as a reserve guard for the Bucks that he was invited to compete in Saturday’s slam dunk contest at N.B.A. All-Star weekend. He loves playing for the Bucks.

He loves playing for them so much, in fact, that he is planting roots. But unlike several teammates who have purchased homes in the Milwaukee area, Connaughton has gone a step further: He is tearing down a dilapidated duplex so he can replace it with a four-story apartment building.

Connaughton has been building a second career in real estate through his development company, Beach House LLC, which is a family affair.

The company owns four properties and sold two others in Portland, Ore., where Connaughton spent three seasons playing for the Trail Blazers. Beach House also owns three properties and sold another in South Bend, Ind., where Connaughton was a two-sport star at Notre Dame. And in Milwaukee, he has two projects in the works, including the apartment building near the arena. Connaughton purchased the property, which had been vacant for months, for $325,000, and he expects the rebuild to cost an additional $800,000.

This story shows how you can multitask wherever you go.  The article above mentions that Connaughton has been involved in real estate in Portland, South Ben and Milwaukee… because his main activity (basketball) led him to these places.

Merri and I did the same being involved in real estate in Switzerland, London, Isle of Man, Dominican Republic and Ecuador as well as Florida, Oregon, California, Georgia and North Carolina.

Take fishing, for example.

Health Benefits of Infrared


Yesterday’s message looked at how I multitask, by listening to classical music  in an  infrared sauna, while I meditate.  I also use an infrared foot massager almost every day.

We have an infrared sauna in each of our homes.

One reason for the sauna is that sweating is good for health.

Another benefit of the sauna is that infrared treatments have been shown to to help reduce all types of health imbalances, illness, aches and pains, wounds, burns, cavities, joint problems, arthritis, fibermyalgia, brain cancer, osteoporosis and much more.

Infrared is used in by NASA’s space medicine program, Stanford University, the National Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of British Columbia, Kingston Regional Cancer Center at Queen’s University in Ontario, Royal Brisbane Hospital in Australia, St. James Hospital in Dublin and the University of Padua in Italy.

Infrared light increases energy inside cells by stimulating cytochromes which are part of the electron transportation chain that converts sugar into energy.  This stimulates cellular reproduction, relaxes muscles and stimulates nerve transmission, enhances the immune response, reduces scar tissue and promotes wound healing, stimulates collagen production (making skin tighter), increases blood capillary circulation and vascular activity, stimulates production of endorphins and enkephelins from the brain, increases RNA and DNA synthesis, stimulates production of the adrenals which reduces pain and stimulates the production of adenosine triphosphate, (ATP) an immediate energy source for muscle contraction.

Infrared treatment is being used for arthritis, wounds, burns, against cancer, for bone loss, diabetic ulcers, poor blood or oxygen supply. The treatment is very effective for pain and inflammation reduction.

There are numerous studies of subjects who had lost their protective sensation in their lower limbs due to diabetic neuropathy. All the limbs actively treated with infrared showed improvement. The placebos in the double blind studies showed almost no improvement.

This has been especially helpful for people who in their older age lose their balance and fall. Infrared improves the foot sensation. All the subjects tested improved balance and gait. Falls decreased 96%.

Growing numbers of doctors and dentists are using infrared treatments.  Infrared helps overcome strains, pains and much more. Infrared machines are in space, and are also used in US Navy nuclear submarines for SEAL teams.

Plus there have not been any reported negative side effects.

We have a lot to gain and little to lose.  Infrared treatments are easy to use while involved in other tasks (such as working on a computer, even watching TV) and there are numerous inexpensive ways to apply infrared, from saunas to massagers to pads.

Research is showing that excess body fat can complicate the risks of COVID-19.

A recent article in USA Today, “As obesity’s link to COVID-19 grows, one family that lost 24-year-old daughter diets together” (1) tells the tale.

The article says:  The parents and two brothers of Silvia Deyanira Melendez, 24, are all in therapy after losing their daughter and sister to COVID-19 on March 28.  She weighed more than 300 pounds with a body mass index of 60, double the BMI considered obese. This most likely contributed heavily to her Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and a heart condition that required open-heart surgery two years ago.

The chronic conditions that increase the risk of serious illness and death of COVID-19 are now well known: diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and being older than 65. Obesity is less well known or understood. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention groups “severe obesity,” defined as having a BMI of 40 or higher, with the other known “risk factors for serious illness” for COVID-19.

A growing number of studies and data on COVID-19 deaths confirm the link. The extra weight on people in the 40-plus BMI range who contract COVID-19 increases the chance they will require hospitalization, most likely in the intensive care unit. It also hampers the ability of physicians to treat them, especially with ventilators, doctors say.

Body fat complicates many health problems.   For example more than 100 studies have found that physical activity can lower cancer risk and even help cure cancer.  Fortunately researchers asked why and one answer became clear. Body fat.

Studies showed that reduced body fat creates  a 25% lower chance of developing cancer.

Fortunately there is a little known way to reduce body fat that does not even require exercise.? I’ll share more on this secret in a moment.

First, body fat, COVID-19 and cancer? Let’s ask why?

Part of the answer is toxicity.

Healthy bodies naturally and regularly remove water-soluble toxins from the body. Our blood and kidneys flush them away.

Fat-soluble toxins such as metals, pesticides, preservatives, other pollutants are harder to flush out of the system. Fat-soluble toxins must become water-soluble before the body can get rid of them. The liver can do this conversion (bile emulsifies fat-souble toxins into water-soluble). This process requires healthy digestive and detox pathways. When they become imbalanced, fat-soluble toxins are stored in fat cells and brain cells instead. These toxins can remain for decades and create health problems.

The fat stored toxins cause oxidation (free radical damage) and degeneration as well as mutation. Toxins in the fatty tissue of the brain become neurotoxins that can cause cognitive problems and a host of mental and brain imbalances.

Burn Fat to Burn Toxins

When you burn fat you turn on the body’s detox fuel.  Fat metabolism is the body’s natural form of energy. Fat metabolism provides a more steady energy than glucose metabolism and flushes fat cells free of toxins. As the toxicity drops, the nervous system has reduced stress and will naturally burn fat instead of sugar.

Multi-tasking – For You or Not?


I am a triple multitaskaholic.  Will this work for you?  Focus is important in life, but I don’t always do just one thing at a time.  Often I multitask two, sometimes three.  This cannot be helped.  There are so many things to do, communicate with family and friends, write every day, keep the meadows and forests in shape, look after our guests, take care of health and spirit.  Plus so much more.

Don’t get me wrong, these are not jobs I feel that I have to do, this is what I want to do!

Often readers ask me, “How can you do it all and still have a life?”

The reality is… that is my life.  I multitask and avoid clutter and keeping trying things.  For example, I believe in listening to special classical music that helps stabilize hearing and balances the mind every day.  I believe in spending time in an infrared sauna. I believe in daily  meditation.  This may work for you or not.

Wow! What discipline and the time it would take to do all those almost every day.  So I do all three at once, meditate in the sauna while listening to that special classical music.  Three times as much done in a third the time, maybe.  More on the maybe in a moment.

Infrared foot massager.

Because I believe in the energizing ability of far infrared radiation, when I am working on the computer,  I am also using a reflexology foot massager that delivers kneading, percussion and infrared heat.   This promotes blood circulation, releases tension and helps relieve stress.  Plus I often have the Baroque music playing at the same time.

Here is another example.  We have a spring fed, wood fired, hot tub deep in the forest at our farm. Guests love it, (so do Merri and I) but it’s a task getting the wood and building the fire.  I love setting it up and when cutting the wood, I put on my sound cancelling Bose headphones and listen to the special classical music.

A future article at this site will show that strength training can increase longevity by 46%.  Yet I would feel dumb, standing around lifting weights (maybe that’s why they call them dumbbells).   My hot tub is my strength training, hoisting the heavy Stihl BOSS 29 (that’s a chainsaw), tromping up and down hillsides with heavy armloads of wood, lifting logs.  This is more natural weight training.  It is so much more satisfying, being in the woods, cleaning the land and seeing that woodpile stacked up at the end of the job.  That is immensely satisfying.  Weight training, classical music (the Bose sound cancelling earphones are very important when the chainsaw is going) and a soothing soak in fresh spring water.

That works for me. However, running a chainsaw and hauling wood may not be your thing.  This is why an approach to natural health is a good thing.  Theravada is a concept of living and learning based on integrating the wisdom of our elders and our direct, personal experience in a way that leads us to insights on how to be in harmony with the forces of nature.

Theravada tradition emphasizes heeding the advice of the wise.  Great teachers have taught me the benefits and methods of  meditation,  infrared saunas and of  listening to certain types of classical music.

The doctrine of Theravada teaches that insight must come from the student’s experience, application of knowledge and critical reasoning.  The Theravedic  leap for me is combining all three: the sauna, music and meditation.

This is why sharing what I do at this site can be a bit scary.  I write about what has (and has not) worked for me. What might be right for me, may not be right for you.

I highly recommend, each of these disciplines: infrared sauna, listening to brain enhancing classical music and especially meditation.

You should choose which makes sense for you to try or not.  If you do try one or all, master each before combining any, if ever.  In this way you can get insights on how each, alone or together, feel and work for you.

This most likely contributed heavily to her Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and a heart condition that required open-heart surgery two years ago.

The chronic conditions that increase the risk of serious illness and death of COVID-19 are now well known: diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and being older than 65. Obesity is less well known or understood. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention groups “severe obesity,” defined as having a BMI of 40 or higher, with the other known “risk factors for serious illness” for COVID-19.

A growing number of studies and data on COVID-19 deaths confirm the link. The extra weight on people in the 40-plus BMI range who contract COVID-19 increases the chance they will require hospitalization, most likely in the intensive care unit. It also hampers the ability of physicians to treat them, especially with ventilators, doctors say.

Body fat complicates many health problems.   For example more than 100 studies have found that physical activity can lower cancer risk and even help cure cancer.  Fortunately researchers asked why and one answer became clear. Body fat.

Studies showed that reduced body fat creates  a 25% lower chance of developing cancer.

Fortunately there is a little known way to reduce body fat that does not even require exercise.? I’ll share more on this secret in a moment.

First, body fat, COVID-19 and cancer? Let’s ask why?

Part of the answer is toxicity.

Healthy bodies naturally and regularly remove water-soluble toxins from the body. Our blood and kidneys flush them away.

Fat-soluble toxins such as metals, pesticides, preservatives, other pollutants are harder to flush out of the system. Fat-soluble toxins must become water-soluble before the body can get rid of them. The liver can do this conversion (bile emulsifies fat-souble toxins into water-soluble). This process requires healthy digestive and detox pathways. When they become imbalanced, fat-soluble toxins are stored in fat cells and brain cells instead. These toxins can remain for decades and create health problems.

The fat stored toxins cause oxidation (free radical damage) and degeneration as well as mutation. Toxins in the fatty tissue of the brain become neurotoxins that can cause cognitive problems and a host of mental and brain imbalances.

Shine a Light on Health & Wealth


Here is some information about light and its positive impact on our health and wealth.  This site first posted details about the health benefits of far infrared light in 2003 (1).  Further posts have repeatedly outlined the benefits of infrared wavelengths.

I start most days with meditation and an infrared sauna.  This image is from this site’s 2014 post “Telomeres Can Make Older Better” (2).  That article focused on the 2009 Nobel prize winning studies of telomeres by Elizabeth Blackburn.

Now, Aziz Sancar, a research scientist at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill  received a third of the 2015 Nobel prize in chemistry for his research on the involvement of light and how cells continually repair themselves.

Research shows that one effect of infrared wave lengths on multiple cell and tissue types is increased ATP synthesis in mitochondria — in essence, an energy jolt for the cell.  This is especially important to the central nervous system because daily toxicity to brain neurons can result in impaired energy metabolism.  Research suggests that near-infrared light raises the energy level in cells and keeps them functioning.  In other words, infrared and far infrared light may counterbalance the effects of damage.

Early research on the healing benefits of light discovered that any single frequency light can stimulate DNA in damaged cell tissue.  However with the far infra red spectrum, the rate of cellular regeneration increased.  A single frequency in the green range for example might improve by making kidney healing 40 times better.  Far infrared can increase the healing rate by 4,000 times.

More research found that infrared  wavelengths in the range of 6 microns (micrometres)causes the fastest regeneration of  tissue.  This frequency is close to the resonance of cell tissue and is absorbed better in hemoglobin.  This is part of the far infrared wavelength.   An injury that might normally recover in ten days, can actually recover in two days with far infrared.

Numerous researchers suggest at least seven health benefits from far infrared light.

#1: Far infrared light (in the 660 micron range) stimulates the basic energy processes in the mitochondria (energy compartments) of each cell by activating color sensitive chemicals (chromospheres, cytochrome systems) inside the cell.

#2: This type of light also helps heal wounds and fights bacteria by increasing oxygen in the blood. How to Kick Start Higher Vitality

Vitality and a good start to the day are the foundations of health and wealth.  Good heart health creates this vitality by sending a strong flow of blood to and through the body and brain.  I believe so much in this fact that I take a supplement called Vitality Force first thing in the morning.  Modern living often inhibits a strong flow of blood and the World Health Organization says that 17 million people die every year from heart disease. Health is Wealth


Good health is the underlying fundamental to all wealth especially in time of stressful change.

A USA today article entitled “Health takes a hit as economy creates more stress” by Sharon Jayson says:

“Economic stress is taking its toll on the USA’s emotional and physical health, new survey data show: More than half of Americans report irritability or anger, fatigue and sleeplessness, and almost half say they self-medicate by overeating or indulging in unhealthy foods.

“Money and the economy topped the list of stressors for at least 80% of those surveyed by the American Psychological Association, which releases its numbers today. Finances now overshadow the more typical daily stressors of work and relationships; 46% report being worried about providing for their family’s basic needs.”

Yet economic recessions and depressions are natural. They are also the natural breeding ground for the next group of extreme rich.

Those who can maintain their balance during the downsides of economic cycles are the ones with the best chance of great profits on the upswing.

Merri and I have enormous energy, vitality and enthusiasm, running our farm, buying and fixing up properties plus running our publishing business on our own.

Merri and I both collect Social Security…yet the idea of retiring has not even entered our mind.

We love our work so much we do not even think of this as work. We are amazed at what we get done. At a time when many our age are thinking retirement, we feel we are just getting started.

The Tip is to Use frequency Modulation.  I use frequency therapy in three ways to maintain a healthy balance.

About ten years ago at the University of Chicago, researchers discovered that the average wavelength of cell tissue in the human body ranged around 660 nanometers.  This single frequency is closest to to the resonant frequency of a healthy cell tissue.  The frequency also absorbs better in hemoglobin.  When cells are bombarded with this frequency it helps balance cells into their health normal state.  At this end of the spectrum, the rate of cellular regeneration increases.

660 nanometer wavelengths are a fast way to regenerate tissue. Injuries recover faster.  Irradiating mitochondria with red and infrared light (880 nano meters) causes them to produce cytochromes, which increases their efficiency.

880 nanometers (infrared light) therapy is widely administered in many conditions. Wound healing and neuropathy. Monochromatic infrared light has been shown effective through limited clinical studies, to help restore sensation and reduce pain in patients with Neuropathy, and to improve circulation, thus increasing the healing rate, of non-healing ulcers. It is thought that the infrared light helps to release nitric oxide into the bloodstream, which aids in increasing local circulation and improving blood flow. People with diabetes have poor circulation due to their naturally low levels of nitric oxide and sedentary habits.

Red and infrared light therapy has been shown to aid in muscle spasms and relieve stiffness. Infrared light in particular is very effective in increasing local circulation and reduce pain.
