Make Lemonade With Writing

Here’s how to be free even as freedom falls.

America in many ways is a police state.   50 years of creeping legislation make Americans suffer under onerous restrictions.

wsj.com

Are they criminals?  Image from the the Wall Street Journal article “Grown-Ups Fight for Children’s Right to Sell Lukewarm Lemonade”  (1).

How far can legislation go?

Americans can become a felon in the USA for not paying tax… for simply failing to file a correct banking form… for simply giving good investing advice and for numerous medical practices that have been accepted in many societies for many generations.

The system is so overloaded with social crimes enforced by the SEC, FDA, IRS, DEA etc. that in 2018 7 million of the the US population of 327 million Americans, 1 out of every 47, are either in prison on parole from prison or on probation, according to the 2018 Bureau of Justice Statistics statistics (2).

Here is a graph from the Department of Justice that suggests the department does not really do the public justice.

prison

Boston civil-liberties lawyer Harvey Silverglate wrote a book “Three Felonies a Day,” (3) referring to the number of crimes he estimates the average American now unwittingly commits because of vague laws.  New technology adds its own complexity, making innocent activity potentially criminal.

Yet this problem that strangles our freedom will probably grow worse because felonies are just the tip of the iceberg.  Our risks of going to jail for a felony re still be minor, but the chances of our being fined for unknowingly committing lesser crimes such as making lemonade is really growing!

The Wall Street Journal article “Grown-Ups Fight for Children’s Right to Sell Lukewarm Lemonade” shows this problem.

The article says: Two months ago, the Guffey family set up a lemonade stand in a Denver park. Six-year-old Ben manned the cash register. Four-year-old William recruited customers. Two-year-old Jonathan sampled the product.

Then the police showed up, telling the boys they needed three separate permits for their stand. William offered them some lemonade before bursting into tears. Ben hid. “I put my hat over my face,” Ben, now 7, said. “I didn’t want to see anyone.”

This over-the-top legislation is costing state governments nearly $50 billion a year and the federal government $5 billion more.  America is the most prison-heavy country in the world, far outstripping China, which has the second highest rate of imprisonment as well as Russia, ranking third.

us jails

This chart above from www.libertyforlife.com graphically shows the problem.

A USA Today article “Nearly one in three people will be arrested by the time they are 23”  (4) shows the incredible problem when it says:  Nearly one in three people will be arrested by the time they are 23, a study published Monday in Pediatrics found.

Erosion of freedom in our lives is affecting us all…  often hurting emotionally… sometimes challenging mentally and always impacting our finances.

This acceleration of rule enforcement can help us or hurt us.   This also creates opportunity. If we embrace this burden change we can gain as we help others understand the problem.  Now is there any crime in that?

One way to gain an income alternative from change is in the writing, publishing, communications industry.

See why writing is one of the most legally protected sources of income in the world below.

Seven P Secrets of Self Publishing

When you write, you can work anywhere.

gary-scott-image

Here I am working poolside in the winter, at our Florida farm.

gary scott

Here I am with our hound Ma, working during the summer at our North Carolina farm.

Learn how to earn everywhere, while living anywhere you choose.  I have been able to earn by writing in Hong Kong, England, the Isle of Man, Dominican Republic and Ecuador to name a few of the place I have lived.  Everywhere I have been… too numerous to share here, I have been able to work.

All I need is my laptop.

That’s all you need too… a laptop to be free!

Before computers, a pencil and pad did the job.

Freedom is just one benefit you can gain from writing.

Another benefit is income.   Writing has brought me both our farms, free and clear… plus a lot more.

Another good example of earning potential is my friend Hugh Howey.   He was working for $10 an hour in a book store when he self published his novel Wool, typing in a storage room during his lunch breaks.

Soon he was earning over $100,000 a month on Amazon.com.  This helped secure a six-figure book deal from Simon & Schuster, and an option for film by Ridley Scott, director of Blade Runner and Alien.

That’s what he’s doing now.

Hugh Howey

Sometimes Hugh and I get together at my  farm and play chess (he beats me badly).

Writers like High are great inspirations.

A couple of years ago Hugh  left Florida, and moved to South Africa.  He had a sailing catamaran built for him and now can sail the world while he continues to write.

Hugh explained it like this: And that’s the miracle of working as a writer: I can do it from anywhere and everywhere. The past few years, I’ve done a lot of writing from airplanes and airports while on business trips abroad.  SAND was entirely written overseas while traveling through seven different countries; I think it’s a better story because of those inspirations.  In upcoming years, I may be writing near your home port.

Hugh’s a super star writer and his success could not happen to a more deserving and talented person.  He pours enormous energy into being worthy of his readership.  But you do not have to be a million dollar a year earner or a traveler to benefit from writing.

The good news is… you do not need a huge success to have a rich and fulfilled lifestyle.  Self Publishing can bring you a life that most people only dream of, as a journeyman writer, instead of a super star.

May I hastily add that the path to stardom begins as a journeyman… so the journeyman’s path brings success without stardom… but can also lead to stardom.

What most success stories like Hugh’s rarely explain is the many hours of writing that was devoted before their self published book sales soared.   Hugh, like most writers were journeymen first.  Stardom came later.

Here are sevens secrets that can help you become a journeyman writer.

The secrets are a writer’s armory of tools that allows almost anyone to create successful publications for income, freedom and fulfillment.

Take Merri’s and my publishing business as an example.

Merri and I are not writing stars.  We are journeymen who have for more than 40 years, year in and year out, earned solid income writing and self publishing dozens of publications about multiple subjects.

Some years that income has been more than solid… over a million dollars.  Yet in terms of stardom, we are hardly known.

In a moment you’ll see why that’s fine for us and probably will be for you too.

First some history.

Merri became involved in self publishing over 40 years ago… first helping a veterinarian publish a book on a very specific market… animal acupuncture. Then she showed a needle point artist how to sell more books to an even more specific audience… “needle point enthusiasts”  about her needle point work to an audience larger than the population of the city she lived in.  This led Merri to eventually become Executive Editor of an award winning magazine in Florida.

My story allowed Merri and me to work and live from Hong Kong to London to Europe to Eastern Europe, then the Caribbean and then Ecuador… making millions in the process of following our adventures… having fun… while helping a large readership adapt to a rapidly changing world.

That’s what self publishing can bring, profit, adventure and fulfillment, a great feeling of worth and wonder.

Self Publishing has created exactly the lifestyle we desire allowing us to span the world and work with meaning and purpose.

Self Publishing has become a new business art form.

The seven secrets can help you start your own self publishing business now.

Everything in publishing is new and exciting and changing.  Publishing is being recreated by the wonderful power of destructive technology.

Everything is new… except the seven secrets.

Change in the publishing industry is disturbing many.   We love this evolution due to these seven secrets we call the 7Ps.  The 7 Ps are so fundamental to writing and publishing that new technology enhances rather than reduces their power.

The First P is Passion.

Whatever your passion, you can immerse yourself in it AND create income with self publishing.  This can be your direct ticket to the kind of fulfillment you’ve always wanted.

Whether you want to travel the world or live as a recluse, work 12 hours a day or not work much at all,  you can set your schedule to succeed, if you’re willing to learn these seven secrets.

You can start part-time with any dream, passion, and budget.  Once you’ve created a product, you’ll enjoy the “multiple effect” of producing profits over and over again.

So the question is… What do you love to do?

What’s Your Passion:  An example is that thirty years ago, a client of Merri’s had a passion to help people who were in pain?  He published a series of pamphlets explaining various chiropractic disorders in very simple terms.  For example: “What Is Whiplash?”

The pamphlets contained solid information, but were simple 5″ x 7″ brochures with drawings and explanations. He sold them with a rack to chiropractors, who put them in their offices for patients to read.  These little self-published items sold year in and year out for decades.

There are thousands of ideas of this sort that can lead to big business.  It’s just a matter of defining and then acting on your passion.

Although I can work when I please and go where I wish, for me the most important reason for being a publisher is the satisfaction it brings.

I love the projects I take on, so work doesn’t feel like, well… work.

What do you love?  If you love golf, then you can write and sell publications about golf.  Love travel, fishing, dogs, dolls, or art?  Write and sell publications in these fields.

Are you concerned about crime, war, poverty or environmental issues?  You can publish information products that help reduce these concerns.

Would you like to help the world be a more spiritual place?  Publish a newsletter, write a book (or hire someone to write it for you), record a tape… publish something that enlightens people.

Whatever your passion, you can immerse yourself in it and earn income by publishing for ereaders, print on demand, CDs, lists, bound books, or any format you choose.

Be immersed in your passion and get paid well for it.

This is why stardom is not the main goal for most writers and self publishers.  Extra income, more freedom and fulfillment are usually more than enough enough.

The seven Ps are:

#1: Passion

#2: Problem

#3: Person

#4: Profitably Priced Product

#5: Prospecting Pathway

#6: Promise

#7: Presentation

The first time I exposed others to the secrets in Self Publishing was in a weekend “Writer’s Camp” seminar.  We offered the camp for $1,500. 80 delegates enrolled.  People from all walks of life attended—chiropractors, businessmen, investors, doctors, realtors, inventors, airline pilots, engineers, and housewives.

Merri and I were so overwhelmed by the response, we decided to make it available to a larger audience.  We created a written course based on our current self publishing activity called “Self Fulfilled – How to be a Self Publisher.”  Then we recorded the weekend “Writer’s Camp” seminar.

Thousands have used the course as it has evolved over the decades.

You can receive both the written course and the recorded weekend seminar, in an MP3 file, in a special “Live Well and Free Anywhere” program I am making available to you.  The normal fee is $299 for the written course and $299 for the recorded workshop.   I’ll send you both the course and the recorded workshop and my course “International Business Made EZ (also $299) all for $299.  You save $598.

We are so confident that you’ll gain from this offer that if you are not fully satisfied, simply email us within 60 days for a full refund .

These courses are not theoretical.  They describe, step-by-step, how Merri and I built a million-dollar international business and how we are running this self publishing business right now.   We use the 7Ps today just as we did four decades ago to create a strong annual income.

This correspondence course is for those who would like their own international self publishing micro business for fun and profit. If you want fun, freedom, extra income and fulfillment with your own full or part time writing or want to build your existing business, by writing to sell you can profit from this course.  The course can help who want their own business or who want to have a business together or a family business.  This is the perfect course for those who can no longer find employment, who are looking for ways to earn abroad and who wish to retire and supplement their income.

Whether you are retired, an investor, chiropractor, doctor, dentist, professional or already own your own business, this offers another way to make money, to turn your passion into profit. We guarantee that we have shared all we know to help you start and run your own international business.  Enjoy and live a life of following your Passion to Profit… through writing.

Here is a special offer.

We provide two emailed courses  “Self Fulfilled – How to Write to Sell and be a Self Publisher” and “International Business Made EZ”.

We include the “Self Fulfilled Writing and Self Publishing Course” because there are two reasons to write, when you have something to say or when you have something to sell.  In this day and age many of us want to do both, make a statement that makes the world a better place and earn something extra in the process.

Whatever your passion, however you do business, chances are you’ll be writing either to create a product or to sell a product.

You save more than $598 because you also receive a recorded webinar conducted by our webmaster David Cross (at no extra cost).

Freedom of Global Investing

Our freedom to invest globally has been dramatically reduced in the past two decades.

Happy 4th of July.

This is a time to give thanks for the fortunate times of freedom we have been born into.

We should celebrate these freedoms we have and have had.

We should also give some pause to the freedoms we have lost, how they were taken and what we can do to overcome the damage.

One great benefit we have gained in the past 50 years is an advancing global economy.

One great loss Americans have suffered is the ability to easily invest in the worldwide commerce.

2018, marks the 50th anniversary of my reporting and speaking about how to live, earn and invest internationally.

When I began, investing globally was easy.   So I went global.  The mainstream thought this unusual.  Authorities even suggested that investing abroad wasn’t patriotic!

However banking aboard banking aboard was entirely legal (as it is now).  There were no government obstacles created to hinder global banking and investing.

I began in the late 1960s, when the US dollar and US stock market crashed.  Millions of dollar based investors were wiped out.  My investments in Swiss francs, German marks, Japanese and Hong Kong shares skyrocketed.

After investing in Hong Kong, I moved into investing in real estate in Fiji.  That oddly led me to investing in Swiss real estate where we began conducting our first real estate tours.  While living in London, we began conducting London real estate tours, because prices had collapsed in the UK while prices had risen elsewhere.  British property investments then were unusual. However, they have been among the best performing assets in the world since.

That experience helped me spot distortions in the Isle of Man that led to an Isle of Man real estate business as well as seminars on banking in Isle of Man, Switzerland and Austria.

Then the US government created FATCA, an onerous law that imposes US jurisdiction on overseas banks that accepted American customers.  These laws were so strict that most banks stopped accepting most American customers.

FATCA was sold to the American public as a way to cut down on terrorism.   “FATCA increases security”, so the legislature said.

Freedom loving Ben Franklin had something to say about that.

ben franklin

This created huge hardships for Americans living abroad and Americans who want to bank and invest abroad.

A BBC article: “Why expat Americans are giving up their passports” (1) explains how Americans have lost their privacy and financial freedom.

The article asks: “How does it feel to give up your nationality, to renounce the country you were born in, potentially forfeiting the chance to ever return?”

Then it tells the horror story of an American woman who lives in Paris and is renouncing.

She says “I’m very proud of being an American.  It’s what I am when I look in the mirror.   They can take my passport, but I’ll still have a picnic on 4th of July.  I’ll still celebrate Thanksgiving. The only way they’ll stop me being American is if they kill me.  If it weren’t for FATCA  [the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act] and the decision by the bank, I’d never be doing this. Never ever. It’s just breaking me in half.”

This is because as a US citizen you must file a US tax return and other information returns, if you live abroad.

However, there is a bigger problem.  To make sure that Americans do report their income, US laws force non US banks to report earnings of any American customers they serve.  The red tape involved is so overwhelming that most non US banks deny access to Americans for even basic banking facilities.  It is easier for overseas banks to refuse US citizens than to spend the high costs of reporting and risking hefty US penalties if they do not.

This leaves only one option for many Americans living abroad… to renounce their citizenship.  Even then they can be taxed for years after.

The American freedom to bank wherever we choose has been lost.   This forces most Americans into a trap of low interest rates on savings or the overpriced, high risk US equity markets.

dollar trap

FATCA is part of the great American trap.   Most investors won’t take their money overseas so are trapped into a loss when the  purchasing power of the greenback falls.

Here’s How to Invest Abroad Now:

Fortunately we can still invest globally in three ways.

One way is to invest in overseas equities through US brokers.  The second, is to invest in US based overseas equity, bond or currency funds.  The third, is to use an overseas investment advisor which is SEC registered and who works with overseas banks and will still accept US investors.

Our Purposeful Investing Course (PI)  tracks 42 equity markets, determines which are the best value and which are trending up and which are down.

We have created and track six global good value portfolios that are composed of US ETFs that invest in overseas markets.

One of these portfolios is based on the recommendations in ENR Asset Management’s monthly bulletin (2).  We selected ENR Asset Management as one of the three data sources for Pi because we have worked with them for decades, plus they are one of the few overseas investment advisors (Canadian) who is SEC registered and who works with overseas banks (Swiss and Austrian) that will still accept US customers.

Here was the June 2018 recommendations in ENR’s June 2018 monthly bulletin.

Investing Beyond the Boom

Warren Buffet once warned against the Cinderella effect.

He said “Don’t be fooled by that Cinderella feeling you get from great returns.  Nothing sedates rationality like large doses of effortless money.  After a heady experience of that kind, normally sensible people drift into behavior akin to that of Cinderella at the ball.  They know the party must end but nevertheless hate to miss a single minute of what is one helluva party.  Therefore, the giddy participants all plan to leave just seconds before midnight. There’s a problem, though: They are dancing in a room in which the clocks have no hands.”

Cinderella may have lost a shoe when she fled the party to meet a midnight curfew.  We can lose much more when we rush from a crashing stock market.

Most investors face emotional dangers that build in rising markets.

Almost everyone feels good.

But the he clock of economic reckoning is ticking.

No wants to see it.  Nothing rises forever and especially… not everything at the same time.

Yet no one wants to leave the party until the end.

But many edge closer to the door.

When the clock chimes there could be a stampede even though leaving in a hurry may be the worst way to go.

Here are seven steps that can help avoid this risk.

  • Choose investments based on markets instead of shares.
  • Diversify based on value.
  • Rely on financial information rather than economic news.
  • Keep investing simple.
  • Keep investing costs low.
  • Trade as little as possible.
  • Make the decision process during panics automatic.

One strategy is to invest in country ETFs that easily provide diversified, risk-controlled investments in countries with stock markets of good value.  These ETFs provide an easy, simple and effective approach to zeroing in on value.  Little management and less guesswork is required.  The expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual funds.  Plus a single country ETF provides diversification equal to investing in dozens, even hundreds of shares.

A minimum of knowledge, time, management or guesswork are required.

The importance of…

easy…

transparent…

and inexpensive.

Keeping investing simple is one of the most valuable, but least looked at, ways to avoid disaster.  Simple and easy investing saves time.  How much is your time worth?  Simple investing costs less and avoids fast decisions during stressful times in complex situations where we are most likely to get it wrong.

Fear, regret and greed are an investor’s chief problem.  Human nature causes  investors to sell winners too soon, and hold losers too long.

Easy to use, low cost, mathematically based habits and routines help protect against negative emotions and impulse investing.

Take control of your investing.  Make decisions based on data and discipline, not gut feelings.  The Purposeful investing Course (Pi) teaches math based, low cost ways to diversify in good value markets and in ETFs  that cover these markets.  This course is based on my 50 years of investing experience combined with wisdom gained from some of the world’s best investment managers and economic mathematical scientists.

Enjoy Repeated Wealth With Pi

Pi’s mission is to make it easy for anyone to have a strategy and tactics that continually maintain safety and turn market turmoil into extra profit.

One secret is to invest with a purpose beyond the immediate returns.  This helps create faith in a strategy that adds stickiness to the plan.

Another tactic is to invest with enough staying power so you’re never caught short.

Never have to sell depressed assets during periods of loss.

Lessons from Pi are based on the creation and management of Model Portfolios, called Pifolios.

The success of Pifolios is based on ignoring economic news (often created by someone with vested interests) and using financial math that reveals deeper economic truths.

One Pifolio covers all the good value developed markets.  Another covers the emerging good value markets.

The Pifolio analysis begins with a continual research of 46 major stock markets that compares their value based on:

#1:  Current book to price

#2:  Cash flow to price

#3:  Earnings to price

#4:  Average dividend yield

#5:  Return on equity

#6:  Cash flow return.

#7:  Market history

This is a complete and continual study of almost all the developed major and emerging stock markets.

This mathematical analysis forms the basis of a Good Value Stock Market Strategy.   The analysis is rational, mathematical and does not worry about short term ups and downs.

This strategy is easy for anyone to follow and use.  Pi reveals the best value markets and provides contacts to managers and analysts and Country Index ETFs so almost anyone can create and follow their own strategy.

The course examines and regularly reports on the hows and whys of seven professionally managed portfolios so we can learn how managers find and invest in good value.  The Pifolios are:

  • Keppler Good Value Developed and Emerging Market Pifolios
  • State Street Global Advantage Emerging & Developed Market Pifolios
  • Gold & Silver Dip Pifolio
  • ENR Advisory Extra Pifolio
  • Tradestops.com Trailing Stops Pifiolio

As you can see in this image (click to enlarge) the top performing Pifolio we are tracking is the State Street Global Advantage Pifolio was up 43.15%.  Here is the breakdown of that current Pifolio.

  • Relative Valuation
  • Current versus Historic Valuation
  • Current Relative versus Relative Historic Valuation

When you subscribe to Pi, you immediately receive a 120 page basic training course that teaches the Pi Strategy.   You learn all the Pi strategies, what they are, how to use them and what each can do for you, your lifestyle and investing.

You also begin receiving regular emailed Pifiolio updates and online access to all the Pifolio updates of the last two years.  Each update examines the current activity in a Pifolio, how it is changing, why and how the changes might help your investing or not.

Included in the basic training is an additional 120 page PDF value analysis of 46 stock markets (23 developed markets and 23 emerging stock markets).  This analysis looks at the price to book, price to earnings, average yield and much more.

You also receive two special reports.

In the 1980s, a remarkable set of two economic circumstances helped anyone who spotted them become remarkably rich.  Some of my readers made enough to retire.  Others picked up 50% currency gains.  Then the cycle ended.  Warren Buffett explained the importance of this ending in a 1999 Fortune magazine interview.  He said:  Let me summarize what I’ve been saying about the stock market: I think it’s very hard to come up with a persuasive case that equities will over the next 17 years perform anything like—anything like—they’ve performed in the past 17!

I did well then, but always thought, “I should have invested more!”  Now those circumstances have come together and I am investing in them again.

The circumstances that created fortunes 30 years ago were an overvalued US market (compared to global markets) and an overvalued US dollar.  The two conditions are in place again!

30 years ago, the US dollar rose along with Wall Street.  Profits came quickly over three years.  Then the dollar dropped like a stone, by 51%  in just two years.  A repeat of this pattern is growing and could create up to 50% extra profit if we start using strong dollars to accumulate good value stock market ETFs in other currencies.

This is the most exciting opportunity I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I have created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.  I kept the report short and simple, but included links to 153 pages of  Good Value Stock Market research and Asset Allocation Analysis.

The report shows 20 good value investments and a really powerful tactic that shows the most effective and least expensive way to accumulate these bargains in large or even very small amounts (less than $5,000).  There is extra profit potential of at least 50% so the report is worth a lot.

This report sells for $29.95 but in this special offer, you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More” FREE when you subscribe to Pi.

Plus get the $39.95 report “The Silver Dip 2018” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the last two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80, compared to a ratio of 230 only two years before.

In September 2015, I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2015” about a silver speculation, leveraged with a British pound loan, that could increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The tactics described in that report generated 62.48% profit in just nine months.

I have updated this report and added how to use the Silver Dip Strategy with platinum.   The “Silver Dip 2017” report shares the latest in a series of long term lessons gained through 40 years of speculating and investing in precious metals.  I released the 2015 report, when the gold silver ratio slipped to 80.  The ratio has corrected and that profit has been taken and now a new precious metals dip has emerged.

I have prepared a new special report “Silver Dip 2018” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

You also learn from the Value Investing Seminar, our premier course, that we have been conducting for over 30 years.  Tens of thousands of delegates have paid up to $999 to attend.  Now you can join the seminar online FREE in this special offer.

This three day course is available in sessions that are 10 to 20 minutes long for easy, convenient learning.   You can listen to each session any time and as often as you desire.

The sooner you hear what I have to say about current markets, the better you’ll be able to cash in on perhaps the best investing opportunity since 1982.

Tens of thousands have paid up to $999 to attend.

This year I celebrated my 50th anniversary of writing about global investing.  Our reports and seminars have helped readers have better lives, with less stress yet make fortunes during up and down markets for decades.  This information is invaluable to investors large and small because even small amounts can easily be invested in the good value shares we cover in our seminar.

Stock and currency markets are cyclical.  These cycles create extra profit for value investors who invest when everyone else has the markets wrong.  One special seminar session looks at how to spot value from cycles.  Stocks rise from the cycle of war, productivity and demographics.  Cycles create recurring profits.  Economies and stock markets cycle up and down around every 15 to 20 years as shown in this graph.

stock-Charts

The effect of war cycles on the US Stock Market since 1906.

Bull and bear cycles are based on cycles of human interaction, war, technology and productivity.  Economic downturns can create war.

The chart above shows the war – stock market cycle.  Military struggles (like the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Cold War: WW III) super charge inventiveness that creates new forms of productivity…the steam engine, the internal combustion engine,  production line processes, jet engines, TV, farming techniques, plastics, telephone, computer and lastly during the Cold War, the internet.  The military technology shifts to domestic use.  A boom is created that leads to excess.  Excess leads to correction. Correction creates an economic downturn and again to war.

Details in the online seminar include:

* How to easily buy global currencies, shares and bonds.

* Trading down and the benefits of investing in real estate in Small Town USA.  We will share why this breakout value is special and why we have been recommending good value real estate in this area since 2009.

* What’s up with gold and silver?  One session looks at my current position on gold and silver and asset protection.  We review the state of the precious metal markets and potential problems ahead for US dollars.  Learn how low interest rates eliminate  opportunity costs of diversification in precious metals and foreign currencies.

* How to improve safety and increase profit with leverage and staying power.  The seminar reveals Warren Buffett’s value investing strategy from research published at Yale University’s website.  This research shows that the stocks Buffet chooses are safe (with low beta and low volatility), cheap (value stocks with low price-to-book ratios), and high quality (stocks of companies that are profitable, stable, growing, and with high payout ratios). His big, extra profits come from leverage and staying power.  At times Buffet’s portfolio, as all value portfolios, has fallen, but he has been willing and able to wait long periods for the value to reveal itself and prices to recover.

keppler asset management chart

This chart based on a 45 year portfolio study shows that holding a diversified good value portfolio (based on a  good value strategy) for 13 month’s time, increases the probability of out performance to 70%.  However those who can hold the portfolio for five years gain a 88% probability of beating the bellwether in the market and after ten years the probability increases to 97.5%.

Time is your friend when you use a good value strategy.  The longer you can hold onto a well balanced good value portfolio, the better the odds of outstanding success.

Learn how much leverage to use.  Leverage is like medicine, the key is dose.  The best ratio is normally 1.6 to 1.  We’ll sum up the strategy; how to leverage cheap, safe, quality stocks and for what period of time based on the times and each individual’s circumstances.

Learn to plan in a way so you never run out of money.  The seminar also has a session on the importance of having and sticking to a plan.  See how success is dependent on conviction, wherewithal, and skill to operate with leverage and significant risk.  Learn a three point strategy based on my 50 years of investing experience combined with wisdom gained from some of the world’s best investment managers and economic mathematical scientists.

The online seminar also reveals  the results of a $80,000 share purchase cost test that found the least expensive way to invest in good value.  The keys to this portfolio are good value, low cost, minimal fuss and bother.  Plus a great savings of time.  Trading is minimal, usually not more than one or two shares are bought or sold in a year.  I wanted to find the very least expensive way to create and hold this portfolio so I performed this test.

I have good news about the cost of the seminar as well.   For almost three decades the seminar fee has been $799 for one or $999 for a couple. Tens of thousands paid this price, but online the seminar is $297.

Freedom is Right – We Can Write

Freedom of the press has grown.  How about freedom of the truth?

Americans celebrate independence this week.

Regretfully a lot of the real freedom we had, has been lost.  Plus there will be more erosion of liberty ahead.

typewriter

Freedom of the press has expanded through technology.

We can see an amazing number of quotes about the importance of freedom of the press to independence, but Benjamin Franklin summed this fact up when he wrote about freedom.

“Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech. Benjamin Franklin”

Yet our rights have been suppressed even though the freedom of the press has gained amazing progress.

mac

Developments in technology have advanced the science of communication and made the press available to everyone.

Today’s technology allows individual writers and phonetographers to compete with large print and broadcast media.

The added freedom of the press creates a problem and an opportunity.

When I began writing, a document required a draft, then re-typing on the typewriter before the final version.  That typed copy then went to a typesetter and after review finally reached a printer.   Posting that communication at the post office required effort and a high cost of  postage.

This type of broadcasting information left mass communication to the few.   The time and money required made it impossible for most of us to write and get our message out to the public.

Computers and the Internet changed this and made writing, editing and publishing easy and natural.  Almost anyone can use broadband to easily, and quickly send a communication to a high focused, but often large readership in any part of the globe within seconds.

Viral technologies allow images and written words to reach huge numbers of people, without constraint, even if the information is deceiving.

This progress really unleashed our ability to express ourselves, but like all opportunities, as they unfold, a few glitches arise.

The enhanced freedom of the press has endangered freedom of the truth!

Freedom of the press is important, but so too is freedom of truth.  Franklin D. Roosevelt summed up this fact.

“Freedom of the press is essential to the preservation of a democracy; but there is a difference between freedom and license. Editorialists who tell downright lies in order to advance their own agendas do more to discredit the press than all the censors in the world.”  Franklin D. Roosevelt

The problem is that the ease and low cost of mass communication has eroded the trust in pictures and words.

Pictures can be altered.  Communicating with words and images is so inexpensive that anyone can throw a lot of mud, at little cost, knowing that some of it will stick.

Pictures and words have become so polarized that there are usually two different spins on every subject written now.

Take the current child separation issue as an example.

One side says children are being held in cages.

A viral photo of a small child crying with his hands gripping the side of a cage has sparked outrage as the national debate on immigration toils on.

Posted on Twitter the photo was captioned: “This is what happens when a government believes people are ‘illegal.’ Kids in cages.” It had more than 24,000 retweets and 35,000 likes in a week.

Then anther source said that this photo was actually taken at a staged event protesting the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy.  The boy was not a detainee.

Another major news source stated that a detention facility for migrant children in Texas was visited and the journalist discovered that children were not kept in cages.

The article said: “This further debunks a popular photo recently circulated on social media”.

The problem is that the ease of mass communication and the polarization makes it’s hard to know what’s true.

Norman Mailer once wrote that freedom of the press is to “Let every writer tell his own lies.”

This problem creates an opportunity because it adds extra value to trust.

Civilization will eventually sort out new solutions to spotting truth.  Until this happens early adapters can gain huge advantages and the biggest, fastest rewards.

Writers who develop trust with their audience have a huge advantage, right now.

Consider writing as a way to create financial stability and help increase freedom.  Discover your truth, prove it and share it.

One of the greatest freedom fighters, Thomas Jefferson pointed out the importance of truth when he said: “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.”

Write and never waver from that truth.  Share it, prove it and build a following who believe in the the words you share on your choice of given subjects.

It has been said, “In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Knowing truth creates freedom.  Find it and share it… truth.  There can be handsome rewards when you do and this is one patriotic reason why a pinnacle career in writing is a great (and needed) option for the future.

The Freedom – Dilemmas VII

Modern life creates many dilemmas.

This is a seventh of a seven part thought process that seeks a better understanding of the modern problems we face.

Each of the seven parts reflects on a quote from the book “Sapiens, A Brief History of Mankind” by Duval Harari.

We’ll be brief, because it will be your reflections… your thoughts on the dilemmas  and how they apply to your life that can help make your life better.

If you missed the first dilemmas, click here.  The Education – Dilemmas

The seventh dilemma worth reflection is the illusion of Freedom.

freedom

Here are quotes from Sapiens.

“Voltaire said about God that ‘there is no God, but don’t tell that to my servant, lest he murder me at night’. Hammurabi would have said the same about his principle of hierarchy, and Thomas Jefferson about human rights. Homo sapiens has no natural rights, just as spiders, hyenas and chimpanzees have no natural rights. But don’t tell that to our servants, lest they murder us at night.”

“This is the best reason to learn history: not in order to predict the future, but to free yourself of the past and imagine alternative destinies. Of course this is not total freedom – we cannot avoid being shaped by the past. But some freedom is better than none.”

“One of history’s few iron laws is that luxuries tend to become necessities and to spawn new obligations.”

How much freedom are our governments shaving from our lives?

A recent Wall Street Journal article “Is It Wrong to Cut a Homeless Man’s Hair Without a License?” provides a clue to answering this question about the losses of freedom we are suffering.

The article tells how a cosmetology student, who was once homeless, and who gives homeless people free haircuts, was shut down in Texas because, though he was studying cosmetology, he hadn’t yet received a state-issued license.

The article said: Ms. Brantley practiced African-style hair braiding, which requires no cutting or dyeing of hair.

Yet Texas insisted she obtain a cosmetology license, which would have required 750 hours of irrelevant barber training.

There are other horrors revealed in the article.

The District of Columbia government shut down a shoe-shining business, citing a 1905 ordinance forbidding shoeshine stands in public spaces. The business employed homeless people, providing them not only with a job but a shower and a tuxedo uniform.  The situation has hardly changed, as street shoe-shiners must still obtain numerous permits, submit to a background check and pay more than $1,500 in fees.

A supermarket florist in Louisiana lacked a florists license and the state threatened to close the store. The lady lost her job and died destitute.

Once a government requires a piece of paper to do something they have a stranglehold on freedom.

This is a global problem we see right now with immigration, in many places.

Many years ago for example the UK created a special program allowing Jamaicans to live and work in to the UK legally.  These residents were not required to get any specific form of documentation.

Then a series of repatriation campaigns began created what is called a “hostile environments policy” to repatriate many of these residents even though they have lived in the UK for decades and most have not committed criminal any offense.

There are horror stories.

One Guardian article says:

Mothers, fathers and grandparents are among those due to be forcibly removed from the UK to Jamaica despite many of them having spent their entire adult lives in Britain. In some cases they are still fighting their immigration cases, activists said.

One of those clients is a woman in her 60s who was married to a British man but whose application for indefinite leave to remain was held up by so much bureaucracy that her husband died before it was completed, Brown said.

After her husband’s death, she was told she no longer had a case to stay, despite having children and grandchildren in the UK. She was seized on Friday at her daughter’s house and taken into immigration detention.

Another Jamaican on the flight is Twane Morgan, 33, from Birmingham, a veteran of the British army who suffers from post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorder after two tours of Afghanistan.

Another story tells of a mother of three whose youngest son suffers from a serious blood disorder who was to be forcibly deported to Jamaica, despite having lived in the UK for more than 25 years.

The system is pretty nasty as it appears that immigration enforcement act quickly in an effort to prevent those being removed from making legal challenges.

Officials try to snatch very quickly before the three months [time limit for lodging a judicial review] is up so the lawyers may be trying to gather all of the evidence to make sure the Home Office knows everything … before we’ve gathered that and before the three months is up they will try to put them on the plane.

What a complex world this is… and that word “hostile” fits what’s happening so well.

There is a growing feeling that many feel (yours truly included), that every function we depend on… banking, driving, government, police, health has some hostile intent.

This is such a tragedy.  Many of us were able to grow up feeling… really believing at our very core… that THEY, some omnipresent fabric of all our infrastructure was wise, trustworthy, and existed to help and serve us.   THEY would make sure that everything was OK.

Now the feeling is that each agency, bureau and institution  exists to get the most out of us instead and that they are leading everyone to disaster.

This creates a huge shift on one’s psyche from comfortable to anxious or angry or depressed.

I urge you not to let this shift disturb you too much.  Yes this alienation of our governments and businesses and medical services, that are supposed to serve us, is a deterioration of an essential we so strongly believe in.

But as George Orwell, pointed out in “1984″ this type of unfairness is part of the fabric of human nature.

By all means we should react adjust, avoid, argue, rebel, demonstrate, contact our governments representatives, but we should not  be outraged by feelings of loss.

Realize that all is in order and that the pendulum continues to swing.

Most of us we ever so lucky to be born at a really good part in the pendulum’s arc.  This makes it easy to let the beliefs that were instilled in us at that more positive time and place, blind us to the bigger picture.

None of us know where the pendulum is right now nor what its direction and velocity will be.   By seeing a bigger picture and the reality of change, we can at least clear our heads and our hearts. We can feel gratitude even though change is not in keeping with our expectations.

This clarity not only eases the fevered brow but also helps us navigate more effectively through humanity’s turmoil so our lives can be as fulfilling as can be.

Let’s reflect on this thought?  “How can we avoid a gradual erosion of our freedom in our own personal lives?”

Losses of freedom are everywhere due to legislation that requires us to have more and more licenses and pieces of paper to legitimize who we are and what we can do.  The issuers of these papers can be really hostile and rob us of our rights, if we let them.

That’s why I focus so much of our messages on how to write and publish.  No license is required to write (in the US at least).  Writers will remain free for sometime to come.

I hope you’ll let this course, described below, strengthen your freedom.

Paper Cuts at Our Freedom

This is such a tragedy as I was able to grow up feeling… really believing at my very core, that THEY, some omnipresent fabric of all infrastructure was wise, trustworthy, and existed to help and serve me and that they would make sure that everything was OK.

Now the feeling is that each is there to get the most out of us instead and they are leading everyone to disaster.

This creates a huge shift on one’s psyche from comfortable to anxious or angry or depressed.

I urge you not to let this shift disturb you too much.  Yes this alienation of our governments and businesses and medical services that are supposed to protect us is a deterioration of an essential we so strongly believe in.

Most of us we ever so lucky to be born at a really good part in the pendulum’s arc and its easy to let the beliefs that were instilled in us at that more positive time and place, blind us to the bigger picture.

None of us know where the pendulum is right now nor what its direction and velocity will be.   By seeing a bigger picture and the reality of change, we can at least clear our heads and our hearts and feel gratitude for life rather than rage that change is not in keeping with our expectations.

This clarity not only eases the fevered brow but also helps us navigate more effectively through humanity’s turmoil so our lives can be as fulfilling as can be.

Losses of freedom are everywhere due to legislation and growing customs requiring s to have more and more licenses and pieces of paper to legitimize who we are and can do.  The issuers of these papers can be really hostile and rob us of our rights, if we let them.

That’s why I focus so much on our course that shows how to write and publish, a career that requires no license and in the US at leats will not for sometime to come (hopefully never)

I hope you’ll let this course described below strengthen your freedom.

Greater Mobility – Less Freedom

Do we actually pay to give up our freedom?

The lyrics to the 1970’s hot “Moon Shadow” points out how the  law of  opposite and equal reactions can influence our lives.

cat stevens

Listen to Moon Shadow on Youtube here.

“Oh, if I ever lose my hands, Oh, if I won’t have to work no more. … Yes, if I ever lose my eyes, Oh, if I won’t have to cry no more. … Yes, if I ever lose my legs, Oh, if I won’t have to walk no more.”

Surely we don’t want to lose our legs.  But this is kinda what humanity did when it embraced the car.  Maybe we gave up our eyes when we had artificial lighting for the special lights at dawn and dusk.  Maybe we gave up our hands when we allowed the TV instead of arts and crafts to absorb our free time.

In each case, our loss was compensated by enormous gains in productivity.  We increased our control over the dimensions of time and space.  The exchange may have even been a good deal.  The point is, there is a cost  and we should know the price of anything we buy (or buy into) and what to do with the gains and/or the loss.

So what did we give up for the convenience of our electronic world?  What are the costs of the internet, smart phone and smart TV?  Is the price denominated in the currency of privacy and freedom?

Let’s think about this.  Someone could be watching you right now, through your phone or computer.

wikileaks

This week, WikiLeaks will begin a new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named “Vault 7” (1).  This introduces details relating to the CIA’s global covert hacking program that can turn Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows and even Samsung TVs, which could be turned into covert microphones.

Probably no one is watching, but they could be!  Most certainly your internet or cell phone activity is tracked.  A record remains of every word we speak, write, hear and see.

“So what?”, we ask.

One example why we want privacy came to me from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) this January.  The FDIC, the government agency that is there to protect you and me.  The FDCI explained that one of its employees had loaded data about me and my bank account (and other people) on a computer when some were leaving employment.  This included my name, Social Security number, address, birth date, account numbers and balances.

Here is another reason.  If you are a Boomer as I am, you may have some wonderful memories of Cat Stevens and his great music.   Yet after his conversion to Islam and name change to Jusuf Islam he was one time put on a watch list and refused entry into the US.  Does the fact that you are reading about and I am writing about Cat Stevens put us on some list?  This does not seem very plausible, but the plain and simple fact is, it could.

Not Just Big Brother.  The government is not the only entity we should be concerned about seeing every word we speak, write, hear and see.

A recent Wall Street Journal article, “Congress Moves to Strike Internet Privacy Rules From Obama Era” (2) tells how companies like Verizon, Comcast or AT&T can continue tracking and sharing people’s browsing and app activity without permission.

It seems unlikely that we would be put on any terror related list for watching Cat Stevens, but it is possible, even likely, that we will be led to advertising about music by Cat Stevens or related music or products.  Most certainly our act of pulling up a youtube recording of Cat Stevens will have some impact on what advertising we see.

The new congressional action reduces strong online privacy rules and let’s broadband providers collect data on us and sell even our sensitive information.  Details about our health, finance and families can be collected, collated, used, shared or sold to the highest bidder without our permission.

The article says:  A company like AT&T or Sprint can tell the time people wake up by when they check the clock on their phone, or see where users go to lunch or whom they visit.  By tracking a user’s browsing of medical websites, a carrier can also determine if that person might have an illness.

We are paying these communication companies to  provide us benefits, but there is a hidden cost of privacy loss because they can sell all the information about us they collect.   We never know the price either.

So what have we given up for the substantial gains of convenience and productivity we achieve?   How will this impact our lives?  What impact will this have on our privacy and freedom?  Will we lose control over the information we receive?  These questions are definitely some food for thought.

There are good people and bad, like in every business, who are government employees and who work for companies that now have unfettered access to our private personal information.

What can we do about it?

Most of us are not willing to give up our computers, smart phones, the Internet or smart TVs.  Even modern cameras can track us. They have a GPS, (my Leica V-LUX 30 pocket camera that I carry almost everywhere does) so we even lose privacy over the pictures we take.  I get an Allstate discount for having a device on my car that records when I drove, how fast, how long and how hard I brake.  I like that savings.

If the government wants the data, I don’t know how to avoid this.

There is little we can do to escape the marketing decisions that publications make as to which news will be broadcast to us.  Here are several really simple steps we can take to broaden our information horizons.

First, subscribe to publications (in print or online) where the subscribers (not the information) are in different parts of the world.   As mentioned, I take three editions of the Wall Street Journal.

gary scott

Plus, I had a program created (shown above) for my desktop  that gives me one click links to publications where the subscribers are in different places, countries, regions and continents.

Second, when it comes to investing, I rely on mathematically based financial information news to find good value instead of the economic conjecture that is in almost all the news.  I track three sources of financial thinking at ENR Asset Management, Tradestops and Keppler Asset Management to find conclusions about value created by distortions and trends.

Third, subscribe to varied information, that interests you and does not.  For example, I subscribe to blogs about gardening and growing food, water, weather, toys (I have no interest really), stocks, high fashion cloths (again no interest at all), vision, and scientific advances.   I continually shift the mix and open and click through sites I have no interest in and do not read.  This befuddles the algorithms and increases the odds that the information that flows to me will be a little more random… like life.

This brings a delight of unplanned, impromptu, unbidden data flowing to me.  Like the gurgle of a murmuring creak, this erratic stream adds serendipity into the brook of information that expands my thinking and who I am.  Life is a walk along a random path.  Loosening the restrictions on what we learn allows the flukes, the times when we have lucky breaks by stumbling upon the unexpected to fall in place so displays of pure dumb luck can grace our lives.

The marketing geniuses that run the advertising universe online and in print rely on patterns.  They want to fit you into a mold.  When we break the average cast and let the grander designs of nature lead us, we gain freedom and independence of thought and can enjoy the frightful delight of evolution in our world.

Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere

A huge economic struggle is taking place.

If that struggle is lost what’s left of our privacy, the safety of our food supply, the control over our health, the safety of our money and even the sanctity of our opinions and thoughts could be lost.

Almost half of America’s voters rejected the postwar global economic order.  England’s voters did this too.  This has left a cloud of uncertainty over the U.S. and world economies.

Markets and social order can collapse at any time.

Schools are not safe from shooters on the rampage.

Streets are in danger of terrorists ramming their cars into riders on bikes.

We are no longer safe… in shopping centers, at festivals, even in the church.

Yet the bigger danger grows.   This struggle is taking place, right now.

You can read about tiny parts of this conflict daily in the news.   Most of the clash however is hidden from view.  There are horrible consequences hidden beneath the visible spin.

There is an association forming that can ruin our health care, nutrition and the environment.  A group that can control what you read on the internet, see over cell phones, watch on TV and what trends in social media.

Everything you write or say can recorded and be used  to control what you hear and read.

The warning shot, above the surface, is the merger between Bayer and Monsanto.  This union is horrible enough, yet it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Seven companies are involved in a more sinister plot.

The momentum of this dangerous alliance has picked up faster than anticipated.

I began researching and preparing a report “Learn Anywhere, Earn Everywhere” when the Bayer-Monsanto merger was the big deal.   They are two of the seven firms involved in this almost invisible take-over of our food and medical services as well as the internet, cell phones and TV.

I started researching when I saw the hidden depths of this Bayer-Monsanto merger.  I was truly concerned and shocked because my research discovered that the consolidation of Bayer and Monsanto is not the biggest merger nor the most dangerous by far.

I miscalculated how much time we have.  I went to work on the report right away, taking my time to delve deeply, but even before I have finished the report, events have begun to heat up.   The pace of this hidden unification has increased.  Now another merger is taking place, far more destructive and the alliance has an incredible lobby program working to make sure that the deal goes through.

A triad of three huge concerns and four smaller ones with hundreds of billions of dollars have built one of the most formidable lobbying operations in Washington.  Nearly 100 registered lobbyists are already on retainer and they include former members of Congress.   One company in this heptagon is also the largest donor to federal lawmakers.

The donations we know of equal more than $11 million paid to 374 of the House’s 435 members and 85 of the Senate’s 100 members in this election cycle.

This deadly seven point affiliation is likely to snake into almost every part of our livelihood.

One part of the cartel will increase our dependence on modified food that can purposely increase our needs for pharmaceuticals manufactured and sold at outrageous prices by another arm of the group.

The organizations will know more about us than any other group in existence.  They will (in fact they already are) act as spies for the government.  This amalgamation will control what ads we see, the products we buy, listen into our phone calls and even monitor and influence what we see on TV.

Sadly most of the public will not even know that this fusion has taken place.  Life will appear to go on as normal.  They won’t even see the change as what’s left of their good life which could be drained away by corporate malfeasance.

This is why I am rushing a report to you so you can be one of the few who avoid the ruin of this alliance and gain rather than lose from the shift.

The report “Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere” contains seven steps we can take to gain benefits and protection from this cartel.

Here is some background.  At the beginning of the 20th century, Carl Duisberg, the head of Bayer, created a profit sharing cartel from three firms BASF, Bayer and Agfa, called the Dreibund (Triple Alliance) or little IG.

This German chemical association dominated commerce everywhere under the name of IG Farben, the largest company in Europe, the 4th largest anywhere and the largest chemical company in the world.

Because “Power Corrupts” this company morphed into something truly evil before and during the Second World War.

After WWII IG Farben was considered so morally corrupt it could not be allowed to continue to exist and was split into its original constituent companies.  Today Agfa, BASF, Sanofi and Bayer remain.

This is where facts become truly scary.  Some of these very same companies have merged with other mega concerns to create a new American Dreibund (a Triple Alliance dominating the USA).   This new cartel has such power it can take control of your food, your medicine and even influence, if not control, what you read and the information you access for health and wealth.  Even worse, they can monitor everything you do and give it to others in government and business as well.

From a political point of view we cannot do much about this alliance.   The cartel has hundreds of billions of dollars and hundreds of lobbyists.  They are making their big move right now, to take advantage of the current political distraction.  They know that after an election politicians are willing to accept bad news because it will be forgotten in four years.

In addition their greatest enemy in the government has only a couple of months left as the head of the Federal agency that will fight this cartel.

Only a few people will know how to take advantage of the shifts created from the results of this alliance.

The sooner we act, the greater the benefits.   This is why I want to rush my newest report “Live Anywhere-Earn Everywhere” to you.  This report shares how to protect what you have from this coalition that is taking over mainstream media, our food supply as well as our medical history, health care and communications.

Fortunately a loophole can set you free.  You can protect what you have and actually improve your situation, a lot.  Merri and I have already jumped though the loophole and want to share why and how you should too.

How to Gain Extra Freedom – While Almost Everyone Loses Theirs.  Become a Pruppie!

May I coin a new word, Pruppie?

We all know about preppers.  They believe that the world, as we know it, is about to end.  And we also know about Uppies, upward professionals as in Yuppies, young upward professionals.  Uppies expect their world to get better.

The reality is that our worlds have changed and for most of us, there is still great opportunity for a better lifestyle, yet the preppies could be right.

I invite you to join Merri and me as Pruppies, those who expect the world to get better and live and earn based on that expectation but enjoy a progressive lifestyle of freedom that also happens to prepare us for bad times as well as good.

Just in case… the world goes sideways… we will still survive and prosper anyway.  We do not give up anything much.  We can enjoy the good parts of the new economy, as we protect ourselves from what can be bad.

For example in this report, you’ll see how to make your dining room table bring you more control, more time, more income and more freedom.  After all, what can be more accessible than a dining room table?

ecuador-banks

You’ll even learn how to turn dining room tables into income and tax deductions as we have with these dining room tables we build out of local wood.

Let me be clear.  I expect that the world will get better, at least for the few who adapt and avoid the dangers the American Dreibund has planned for the public.  The wealth of the world, albeit with inequality, has continued to grow.  There is an incredible new economy that’s opening for those who know what to do.  There are great new opportunities and many of them offer enormous income potential and they even work well in disaster scenarios.

Let me provide one simple, concrete example.  Ginseng.

This is a great health root.  The demand is growing especially in China.  At times good dried Ginseng sells for $1,000 a pound!  This is an incredible and easy crop to grow.   The less care you give it, the more valuable it can become.  Yet if everything goes south, the health qualities will be good to have and make it an excellent barter item.  Once you know what to do with ginseng, it’s easy to grow in your back yard.

Even better one of the best kept secrets is that ginseng and 125 other medicinal crops that are currently unsustainable but can be grown on land  that is extraordinarily cheap.

goldenseal ginseng

Ginseng growing in our back yard.  I know about growing ginseng through experience and explain why and how in the report.

There are are specific places that reduce your living expenses, easily increase your income, make you smarter, healthier and provide tax benefits as well.

Learn about these specific places.  More important learn what makes these places special and seven freedom producing steps that you can use to find other similar spots of opportunity.

Here are some of the experiences this report shares:

The report includes a tax and career plan broken into four age groups, before you finish school, from age 25 to 50 – age 50-to 65 and what to do when you reach the age where tradition wants you to re-tire.  (Another clue-you do not need to retire and probably should not).

The report is very specific because it is about what Merri and I, our children and even my sister and thousands of our readers have done and are doing.

Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere focuses on a system that takes advantage of living in Smalltown USA, but earning globally.

  • Learn about the magic of the north facing slope.   This is where Merri and I live almost half of our time.  North facing mountain land is some of the least expensive in the world but has hidden values that the report reveals.  There is a lot of this land and a lot of hidden value that you can tap.   When we bought our Blue Ridge farm (252 acres) I mentioned this to my Swiss banking friend.  “That’s bigger than the entire village where I live!” was his response.  Smalltown USA offers a last chance at having a lot of space.  By living in two Smalltown places there are enormous tax advantages as well.  One step in the system saves Merri and me over $28,345 in taxes a year.

The report shows how to buy cheap north facing slopes and create an income producing tiny home for $29,000 or less.

If you lack the $29,000 to invest, a start up using tents is even less.  These are tipis we put up at our farm before we built our first tiny home.  Learn how they can create tens of thousands of dollars in income for you.

Fwd: gary-scott-tipis

  • See ways that small businesses like Tipi rentals can create BIG tax savings as well as extra income.  For more than 30 years Merri and I have enjoyed a strong six figure income, some years more, in the millions.  Yet there have been very few years when we had to pay federal income tax.  The report lays out a three structure program and how it is used when you are in school (up to age 30), then from 25 to 50, 50 to 70  and beyond 70.   Learn why Chapter C corporations and pensions can be better than the normally recommended Chapter S.  See how new mileage log rules gives you a possible opportunity to increase your tax deductions using IRS Form 4562.  Using a two-vehicle strategy you can gain $12,976 in new deductions even if you do not have to drive one mile further or spend one additional penny on your car.
  • See how a greenhouse can help you eat better and be healthier, plus provide income and a tax deduction and be funded by a government grant.

gary-scott-farming

Our North Carolina greenhouse.

gary scott greenhouse

Our Florida greenhouse.

  • There are similar benefits from having a second home office defined in IRS publication 463 and IRS publication 587, even if your desk is a dining room table.  The report also shows how your dining room table can become an actual income producer as its creates a huge tax deduction at the same time, not to mention a great place to eat, work and lay out plans for a brighter, safer more lucrative and enjoyable future.
  • Living in this environment is also healthier, economically as well as physically.  You’ll see in the report how researchers at Harvard found an amazing correlation between living in conditions found on north facing slopes, longevity and mental health.  The researchers were quite surprised by this strong correlation that also extended into mental health.  In addition to feeling better, reducing stress and having more Joie de Vivre the places outlined in “Live Anywhere-Earn Everywhere” can help you avoid hospitals, high cost disease management (aka health care) and BIG pharma while providing an investment opportunity in three plants that have some of the fastest growing demand in natural health care.  These three plants are just one of seven business opportunities that can create multiple streams of income.
  • How changes in cell phone and internet technology eliminated the need to be in one place.   An old law that creates new opportunity for small business in small towns is available to everyone.
  • Use the specific search and purchase guide.  Construction plans are included that show how to generate first tier income that leads to five, second tier avenues of earnings.
  • How to pay off old debt and avoid new debt by avoiding spurts and embracing value.
  • Learn seven skills that will always have value.  See how to turn First Aid, medicinal plants, hospitality, food, trees, alternate energy and writing to sell into everlasting, low stress wealth.

Freedom Hit by Gag Order

A Fortune.com article presents one of the greatest challenges that freedom has seen.  We are seeing a huge shift in the freedom of the press.

gary-scott-site-images

What’s happening to freedom of the press?  What can we do about it?   These are two of the most important questions we might ever ask.  Ease of publication and the human trait to read what we want to see, have helped create an era of divisiveness in what is published.  A growth of alternative facts is deteriorating the power of the press.

There is a battle between the media and the US Executive branch as they struggle against one another.

This is what is disturbing about the www.fortune article linked below when  it says:  Employees at several federal agencies including the Department of Agriculture have been barred by the Trump administration from making any statements, or providing any documents to the public or journalists, according to published reports.

The Environmental Protection Agency, allegedly told the agency to remove a climate change page from its website, and informed both it and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to stop discussing research with the public and media.

Staff at the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service also got a memo on Monday telling them not to provide any documents to the public, including press releases and social-media content, according to BuzzFeed News. The email told employees, including about 2,000 staff scientists, that “starting immediately and until further notice,” they were not to release any documents or post anything to social media.

In short, there is easier access to more information that we can trust less and less.

What can we do to spot the truth and filter out the noise?  One powerful method of determining truth is highlighted in the book “Power vs. Force” by David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.  This book makes the huge promise that it will give a totally effective way to determine if we are being misled.  The book delivers on this pledge.  We can use what this book offers to help us learn when someone is trying to control our thoughts, opinions and freedom.

The book shows how to spot fiction from fact because fact is supported by real power.  Here are several key points in this book:

#1: Power arises from meaning and does not move.  Power is a field (like gravity) and has to do with motive and supports all life.  Force,  on the other hand, moves and automatically creates a counter force.

#2: Power is complete and requires nothing from outside.  Force is incomplete and must continually be fed outside force.

#3: Power consumes nothing and energizes, gives forth, supplies and supports.  Force has an insatiable appetite and constantly consumes.

When we look at this, we can see that George Lucas really made a mistake in Star Wars.  His Jedi Knights should have said “May the Power be with You” instead of “May the Force be with You”.  We can also begin to see the fallacy of the comment that the President of the United States is the most powerful man on earth.  He may be a very forceful person, but events have shown that his actions have created plenty of counter force.

Force is applied to symptoms.  Power works on the most serious underlying problem.

Here is how to use the power of power to ignorance from truth.  Power Versus Force explains the idea of high and low energy patterns.  This information gives us a technique we can use to measure anything we read, see or hear.  We can compare and judge information by asking how it reflects on these seven high and matching low energy patterns.

High Energy   –  Low Energy

Abundant               Excessive
Attractive               Seductive
Civil                        Formal
Defending              Attacking
Educating               Persuading
Honest                    Legal
Patriotic                 Nationalistic

When you see or hear a news bite, ask, “Does it educate or persuade?”  “Is it defending or attacking?” and most of all “Is it honest or just legal?”

When we shine the light of these questions, the daily information that can fool us or set us free, we’ll come closer to seeing reality.  Then we can respond and adapt to how life really is, not what the hidden (or not so hidden) agendas of others who want us to believe.

Protecting the freedom of the press is not just the responsibility of media.  This independence can only be restricted if we are poor readers and let ourselves be fooled and deceived.

Making data we review,  prove its power lights up truth and reality.  I recommend reading Power Vs. Force and making the media prove itself in this highest, most honest of ways.

power vs force

Simple Learning Beats Billions

See why simple learning can make you richer than a billionaire.

Our grandson Garren’s school system features optional career academies:  small, personalized learning communities within the high school that students enter by choice.  Garren is enrolled in the culinary academy so whenever he stays with us we make sure to do some form of cooking together.  As with our children,  we help the grandkids learn how to fish, hunt and preserve foods… and to cook!

We have found that the gun, rod and reel and stove can compete with the cell phone and tablet for the youngin’s attention.

This year during his school break, we hunted for deer, caught bass in the lake and picked oranges from our grove.  We made venison sausage and we canned orange marmalade.  We chose a low sugar recipe, picked the oranges and lemons and chopped them up, rinds and all and cooked away.

We boiled the jars, poured and viola, we had a year’s supply of tasty vitamin C to go along with many pounds of high quality protein.

marmalade

This is a small win, no big deal.  This marmalade is darn good but we do not plan to live off our own food supply.  We don’t want to live off our own food supply and we don’t think we’ll ever have to live off our own food supply.

Here is the point.  We enjoy the process. We love teaching the kids and love family activities together PLUS we feel like we could live off our own food supply if we had too.  This gives us a great feeling of independence.  This is just one of many enjoyable, small step towards freedom, self reliance and family unity.

What more could we ask for, spending quality time with children and grandchildern while enjoying a common goal?  This is not always such a simple task.  Finding something to do that everyone enjoys and that gets the younger generation away from electronics and the cell phone can be a challenge.

We started the process with many small wins.  We began by winning our grandson over to nature when he was five.

garren hall

Garren kayaking on the Withlahoochi River

Then we won him over by learning how to grow food early.

Gary & Garren

Garren growing lettuce and herbs in our back yard.

These are not efforts either.  These are fun activities for everyone that also create greater control in our and our family’s lives.

How important is this feeling of independence and control?

Consider this.

During the last recession, a German billionaire quietly put on his coat, told his wife “I have to go to the office for a while”, and drove to a railway embankment near his home, where he lay on the frozen tracks and waited patiently for a train to crush him to death.

This man was ranked as one of the 100 richest men in the world, with a personal fortune that reached over $10 billion.  But even though he was worth billions, the global recession left him feeling out of control.

A Telegraph article on why he committed suicide (1) said:   He did not need the money.  He lived so modestly that he cycled to work on a 15-year-old bike for most of the year, and in bad weather he drove a four-year-old VW Golf.  He had no bodyguards or servants, lived in an unimposing chalet-style house in the small town of Blaubeuren, his home for the past 60 years, without so much as a CCTV camera for protection, and stopped off at his local pub on his way home each night to share a drink with the regulars.

The blame for his demise was placed perhaps most importantly on loss of control. “His companies were his life and when he was going to lose control of them he obviously felt he would lose control of his life” a friend said.

A short statement released by Merckle’s family said the “powerlessness of not being able to do anything” had been the key to his suicide.

Most of us can’t imagine becoming billionaires.  Most of us don’t have the background to build huge concerns.  Perhaps we won’t even have a really huge win at anything or any special stroke of good luck.

We can have freedom, purpose and a sense of control and the power to influence our livelihood, and all that’s around us.   We can start taking that power right now by having one small win.  Every small win makes it easier to have the next small win and our successes do not have to be big deals to help us feel better and to lead us to greater success!

The report shows how to buy inexpensive north facing slopes and create an income producing tiny homes for $29,000 or less.

If you lack the $29,000 to invest, a start-up using tents is even less.

If you have two cars, using a two-vehicle strategy can gain $12,976 in new deductions even if you do not have to drive one mile further or spend one additional penny on your car.
  • See how a greenhouse can help you eat better and be healthier, plus provide income and a tax deduction and be funded by a government grant.

  • There are similar benefits from having a second home office defined in IRS publication 463 and IRS publication 587, even if your desk is a dining room table.  The report also shows how your dining room table can become an actual income producer as it creates a huge tax deduction at the same time, not to mention a great place to eat, work and lay out plans for a brighter, safer more lucrative and enjoyable future.
  • Living in this environment is also healthier, economically as well as physically.  You’ll see in the report how researchers at Harvard found an amazing correlation between living in conditions found on north facing slopes, longevity and mental health.  The researchers were quite surprised by this strong correlation that also extended into mental health.  In addition to feeling better, reducing stress and having more Joie de Vivre the places outlined in “Live Anywhere-Earn Everywhere” can help you avoid hospitals, high cost disease management (health care) and BIG pharma while providing an investment opportunity in three herbs that have some of the fastest growing demand in natural health care.  These three plants are just one of seven business opportunities that can create multiple streams of income.
  • How changes in cell phone and internet technology eliminate the need to be in one place.

Success in the Crumbling Castle of Privacy

When a castle has crumbled too far, what can we do?   We want to make something of it!   Merri and  love making old things enjoyable and usable.  At one stage in our life, Merri and I were were interested in buying a castle.   After a lot of search and many visits to castles around the world, we came to the conclusion that most castles cannot be repaired to their original state.  The idea was too expensive for us and not practical.

However some ruins, even ruined rights of freedom, still have value.  We can all benefit from such ruins, if we know what to do.  This is true with buildings as well as crumbling concepts like the idea that “Our home is our castle”.

Ecuador Shamans

Inkapirka, (meaning Inca Wall) is an Incan ruins.  We have taken many readers to Inkapirka.  Here is a photo of one of our groups that joined us on a shamanic tour.

This Incan fortress was a ruin that could no longer serve its original purpose.  After cleaning and some restoration, it has become an an excellent tourist attraction.

How do we benefit from the rubble of the concept we know as privacy?  This week the messages at this site have looked at the erosion of privacy and freedom.  Monday we saw how the privacy of our car has been compromised in the USA.   This is not just an American problem.  The United Kingdom for example has one of the most extensive vehicle-by-camera monitoring networks in the world.

The erosion of freedom is a global issue and Wednesday’s message looked at attrition in freedoms of the press in Canada, Ecuador, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Today’s message continues this theme and was sparked by a USA Today article  “New police radars can ‘see’ inside homes” (1).

wsj image

Image from USA Today article: “New police radars can ‘see’ inside homes” (1)

The article says: At least 50 U.S. law enforcement agencies quietly deployed radars that let them effectively see inside homes, with little notice to the courts or the public.

The article tells how these agencies have secretly equipped their officers with radar devices that allow them to effectively peer through the walls of houses to see whether anyone is inside, a practice raising new concerns about the extent of government surveillance.

According to the article, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service have been using the devices with little notice to the courts and no public disclosure.  The radars can detect if anyone is inside of a house, if they are moving and where they are.

Privacy advocates and judges have expressed concern that they are being used without public scrutiny and the article quotes Christopher Soghoian, the American Civil Liberties Union’s principal technologist.  “The idea that the government can send signals through the wall of your house to figure out what’s inside is problematic.  Technologies that allow the police to look inside of a home are among the intrusive tools that police have.”

Some of these units are capable of being mounted on a drone so police departments can even look inside your home from the air.  Technological evolution has sped past social evolution putting “the right of a man to retreat into his own home and there be free from unreasonable governmental intrusion.”

To date, this type of radar does not seem to have drawn much scrutiny from state or federal courts.  I suspect at some stage enough civil liberties will be trounced on so rules of engagement will be created to clarify when such technology can and cannot be used.

This technology won’t have much impact on most of us, but I am struggling to find the silver living in the overall loss of everyone’s home as a castle.   One hope is that those who use such technology irresponsibly will go too far.  Voters will finally put their foot down and really demand that freedoms and privacy be observed restored.

There are two forces, greed and fear, that leave such hopes in doubt.

The force of greed stops a majority from complaining because they want the government to be able to tax the rich.  Nearly half the world’s wealth is owned by about 1% of the global population.  The other 99% want something for little or nothing paid for by taxing that 1%.   These leaves the democratic system vulnerable to political aspirants who offer to tax the rich to help the poor.  To back up these promises, effective tax law requires the ability to see and access the wealth of the rich.   In other words a big part of the 99%  support reductions in financial privacy.

The force of fear comes from the current asymmetric war.  Technology allows weaker opponents to use unconventional weapons and tactics, to bring war into our homes.  Voters’ fear of terror lends support erosion of privacy for national security.

Both these forces, along with the fact that most of us have allowed our identities to be digitized, will inhibit a full restoration of privacy

What to do?

There are several actions we can take to survive and prosper in less private times.  First and foremost, we should let go of any anger we feel about this loss.  There is plenty of reason to be angry, but the emotion is counter productive.  We need greater wisdom and increased ability, not the reduction of these assets that anger brings.  One way to release frustration is to see a bigger picture by integrating our logic and intuition with meditation, baroque music and L-Theanine.

Second, we can use momentum to our advantage.  Voltaire explained the principle when he wrote: “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities. Injustice in the end produces independence.”

Voltaire is regarded as a forerunner of the French Revolution and much of what he wrote inspired civil liberties everywhere.  Yet he wrote in an era where the press was highly restricted.  He wrote revolutionary ideas despite risks of the strict censorship laws of the time because his words were supported by truth.  He was banished from France to England for a time by the aristocracy.  (We Americans are fortunate for this fact as he befriended and influenced Benjamin Franklin who was also in London at that time).  The church refused to give him a Christian burial due to his criticisms.

Winston Churchill shared a similar wisdom about the use of momentum when he said:  Laws just or unjust may govern men’s actions. Tyrannies may restrain or regulate their words.  The machinery of propaganda may pack their minds with falsehood and deny them truth for many generations of time.  But the soul of man thus held in trance or frozen in a long night can be awakened by a spark coming from God knows where and in a moment the whole structure of lies and oppression is on trial for its life.

To gain an advantage when those who rob our privacy are wrong, we must be right.  We can live Jujutsu type (“art of softness”, “way of yielding”) lifestyles that let the momentum of those who infringe on basic freedoms work against themselves.  The destroyers of freedom and privacy are wrong.  We can deflect their efforts by turning the force of their attack to their disadvantage, so we do not waste our energy.

A  Judo (“gentle way”) lifestyle requires us to be right.   We can again take a lesson from Voltaire who wrote shortly before his passing,  “I die adoring God, loving my friends, not hating my enemies, and detesting superstition.”

That’s a pretty good code to follow.

Finally, we can expand our horizons and broaden our perspectives.  Those of us who were born and educated after WWII are victims of education.  We are taught that certain freedoms were inalienable privileges that cannot be taken away.  Such rights really are responsibilities to which we must attend.

Mankind has always had ups and downs.

History suggests that every generation has had a cross to bear.  A few of us have had the incredible good fortune to enjoy over five decades with extreme prosperity, very few restrictions on our liberty and very little war.  These conditions were in tune with what we were taught.  As these conditions have unraveled there is a temptation to curse the change rather than give deep thanks for the luck as we figure out how to adapt.

The sun always shines somewhere and many readers have chosen to move to Ecuador, Panama, the Isle of Man, Dominican Republic and other places we have visited over the years.  Due to the global economy, this tactic is not as effective as in the past because governments use technology to reduce privacy everywhere.

The chaotic laws of nature that rule human activity say that under the right conditions chaos spontaneously evolves into a lockstep, smooth pattern.  Then this spontaneous order dissolves once more.

When we begin to feel pain from dissolution of freedoms we have enjoyed, it is good to remember how Rome fell about two millenia ago.  Italy remains a pleasant place for many to this day.  Change never causes the complication.  Failure to adapt is the problem.

The sun always shines somewhere and now the brightest lights must come from within.  We may not be able to depend on laws anywhere to protect our  private castles, but if we adopt good missions and right actions, wherever we are can be a good place to be.

How to Have Peace & Profit in 2019

There are still ways to reduce stress.

Prolonged exposure to stress is the # 1 root of death and disease in our modern world.

Stress can ruin your health and wealth… in many ways.

Daily stress has been magnified because we no control, no way out of the current global political and economic mess.  The news makes current problems feel like things are getting worse.

This downwards spiral leads to health problems, heart disease, hypertension, impaired immune function, infertility, and mental illness.

The health problems lead to economic problems from loss of income, poor investment decisions and high disease management costs.

Yet there is a way back.

I was reminded of this once when I made a horrible mistake.

The supposed error?  Letting my mind wander six decades back to an hour I spent with a girl.

Learn from this near disaster, seven most powerful sources of wealth, health, security and fulfillment in this era.

The girl was pretty and blond.  Terry was her name. My imagination spanned decades returning to my Oregon roots seeing her as if she were there.

We were 11 or 12 and had known each other since we started Rockwood grade school.  Just buddies, our non-romantic friendship lasted 12 years, from first grade till high school’s end.  Then she went off to Pepperdine College in California.  I started traveling the world.  Never saw her again.  I hope her life has gone well.  But until that reflection I’d never thought much of Terry in so many years.

What could have been the tragic error was letting that memory touch my heart.  Two kids, walking on a crisp, Pacific Northwest autumnal afternoon.

We walked down a sun filled, pine needle covered, dirt path.  Huge, fat, green Douglas firs lined the road.  Traffic was no problem, not many cars.  Crossing Stark Street we turned left, hiking three blocks to 182nd.  There we passed an old clapboard candy store.  I can still hear the wooden sidewalk of that store slap beneath my feet, felt the soggy planks sag and smelled astringent pitch from the fir trees.  Then we turned right, up 182nd for about a mile.  There was Terry’s house.

I carried on, walking through a big field, waist high grass turned straw brown by an early frost.  There were dozens of paths made by who knows what.  Animals perhaps or countless generations of other kids walking home alone from school.  I chose one following it to another wood of tall, rough-barked fir.  Crossing one more field, I climbed a rock wall, struggled through a barbed wire fence (my Mom hated that fence ripping my jeans).  I was home!

Sweet simplicity, that dream.  Two kids holding hands, walking on a dirt trail under a crisp, but blue, sunny sky.  Pure innocence.

My tragic error was looking back.  I returned to Rockwood, Oregon with Merri and my kids to show them this part of their roots.  Following the route, Terry and I had walked were the candy store, grange hall, old wooden buildings and their home spun honesty and charm.

Instead we found six lanes of fast, frantic traffic and road rage.  McDonalds, KFC, strip shopping centers.  The car radio blared warnings of local gangs and drive-by-shootings.

Beauty, innocence, sweet simplicity, replaced by drive ins and drive bys.  Gangs and drive-by shootings replacing a tender walk in the sun.

Good bye memories, good bye.

How can our kids walk in places like this?  How can we return to those old feeling of security and comfort?

How can any of us possibly keep pace in this world that’s moving so fast?

Then something inside snapped.

“There has to be an answer for honest, hard working folks to enjoy the wonderful opportunities of today and regain what we’ve lost over the past forty years”, I swore to myself.

How can we keep up, without having such a fast paced life we turn into machines?  Where do we find time for God, family, charity, and our friends?  How can we rediscover those sun filled, pine needle covered, dirt paths we want to walk?

“There has to be places that are still innocent and pure”, I thought.  “There has to be a way of life that does not pound us with stress”.

This thinking led me to begin reviewing the thousands of economic and business experiences I have shared with readers over the decades.

This started a search for a simpler way of life and a better place to earn and protect our wealth.

By digging, asking and observing, traveling and talking to investors and investment managers all over the world I found that there are true paths to real security in the here and now.  That knowledge helped me develop courses on how to have natural health, everlasting wealth and purposeful investments.

This knowledge helped Merri and me invest in stocks and real estate all over the world.  It helped us find and develop our farms in North Carolina and Florida into sanctuaries.

That almost error led us to create an entire portfolio of information on how to keep pace, get ahead, enjoy our modern society but, to enjoy life wherever you choose without having to move too fast.

This is why I am making a special “Let’s get our lives back” offer.

“What would you think in the last 30 seconds of your life if you were the richest man in the world but were unhappy?”

This quote is from the opening slide of our Value Investing Seminar, “How to Secure Your Future With a Value Breakout Plan”.   This a vital question because few investors think about the value of comfort and happiness.  Yet the truth is, those who are comfortable and happy with their investments are most likely to succeed financially.

Without comfort, no matter how much money a person has, they are more likely to lose it or kill themselves with stress from worry.

There is a way to have the perfect form of financial security.

Let’s call it the perfect pension.  To help understand how to build an unshakable economic platform, here is Part One of the report, The Pruppie Factor.

The Pruppie Factor – Seven Steps to Comfortable Living & Profits.

“May you live in interesting times”.  That’s a Chinese curse that seems to have been cast on our modern world.  We can enjoy comfort and profits in the year ahead despite this fact.

Become a Pruppie.  Integrate your earning with your investing and enjoy peak living, everlasting wealth and natural health with PIEC Investing in the year ahead.

Before we look at what PIEC means, let’s delve into Pruppieism, the new economic and social realism.  Pruppies expect everything to expand.  They take advantage of every new benefit and technology they can.  Pruppies enjoy using the fruits of our ancestor’s deliberations and labors to earn in this advanced technological world.  They also engage in activity that they love that would sustain them in case society and the incredibly intricate weave of our global economy and society should fail.

Pruppies are prepared in case everything, everywhere, or at least everything relating to their income and savings fails and the fabric that surrounds their lives disintegrates into an unknown veil.  Yet a Pruppie’s preparation is not a sacrifice, but a joy as you will see.

Hope springs eternal and it should.  One of the key themes in my first book, Passport to International Profit, (published in the 1970s) was “The Sun Always Shines Somewhere”.  This thought has been in and remains a foundation of everything I do.

Sometimes this sunshine is hard to see because the press always focuses on doom and gloom.  Current news often makes the world seem about to end.  We cannot blame the press. Bad news sells.  The majority seem to want to worry instead of learn about all that’s good.  This does not make doom and gloom right.  This is why the majority are also the rich portion of the population, but bad news is an economic fact for the press.

Yet despite all the negative headlines, we have lived through the Cold War and MAD, Y2K, GridX II, the Peak Oil Crisis, the recession of the 1970s, 1980s 2007, etc. etc. etc.  Chicken Little is always out there, selling the falling sky.  Don’t buy into this story!

History suggests that there will always be opportunity.  The sun always shines somewhere.

Brexit, global warming and the American political process are examples of how the press gravitates to negative news.   The press  make anything and just about everything seem negative.  This can blind us to the positive realities ahead, if we let it.

Don’t.

Expect that the world will remain standing and look for opportunity instead!

Our wealth and economic opportunity is pushed by supply and demand.  We are part of a growing global population.  New technology makes more people, as a whole, more productive every day.  The world has increasingly larger markets creating more supply in increasingly efficient ways.

This reality increases everyone’s wealth.  Yes there is a lot of bad news in many places.  There is inequality.  There is crime.  There is war and hate and injustice.   Despite these negatives there is even more that is positive.  Opportunity grows.

Pruppies tap into and use every bit of the good news they can.  They have a plan B if everything goes wrong, but Plan B is based on something a Pruppie wants to do we love, not just a shelter from bad news.

At the end of this report, you’ll find a special offer that can help you integrate earning and investing for the ultimate form of profit and safety.

Imagine this example of Pruppism.  The Tiffany lamp casts an amber glow, rich, ivory and warm in the grey gloom of early dusk.  The gold knobbed mahogany desk, its deep patina waxed and smooth, shines with reflections of ancient leather Chesterfields stuffed full, but rumpled with age and of maritime shots that hang in brass frames on the wall. The room speaks of settled tradition, the kind that might never end.  But thoughts instead are on the demise of the business that has supported this room.

The late Jim Slater of Slater Walker, a British industrial conglomerate turned bank in the 1970s was in that room.  I recall his bank’s collapse well as I was living in Hong Kong and Slater Walker was a huge going concern in what was a British colony in those days.  The Slater Walker crash was big news that unsettled the entire British banking system at the time.

Slater, the founder, had been a really high roller, using every modern banking tactic available including buying many assets with cheap loans.  Then in the mid 1970s banking crisis interest rates skyrocketed and his bank was unable to refinance its debt.  The company failed and Slater had to resign.  Numerous charges were brought against him and he spent considerable time defending what he had done.

In the end he was only fined a nominal sum but despite this, his banking career was well and truly dead.

However he had already moved on.

He wrote about this in his autobiography, “Return To Go”.  He had always had a hobby making puppet shows and telling stories to his children, so instead of banking, he turned his passion into profit and wrote some children’s books.  His first effort sold a respectable 35,000 copies.  His next a monster series for younger children, became a huge hit.

He had also maintained a hobby of salmon fishing so again turned his passion into profit by creating a business that bought up fishing rights and resold them as time-shares.  He had quite a success.

Some day a catastrophe beyond our control could redirect the course of our lives.  We might lose a job, learn that our pension won’t pay or that our dollars won’t buy as much as they must.

Though Jim Slater was a banker, outside economic forces beyond his control caused his business disaster.  Yet he had options because he had been doing things he loved that were not related to his banking, but could become useful income generators in difficult time.

I do not know if Slater understood Pruppism but that’s what he was practicing.

Pruppism is a positive realism based on the knowledge that much of our lives are directed by events that we do not know or expect and could not change them even if we did.  There is always something we do not know and that’s okay.

Years ago I was speaking at an investing seminar in Marbella Spain.  One of the speakers was a brilliant strategist, Johan Peter Paludan, of the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies.  This institute has a large interdisciplinary staff with expertise in economics, political science, ethnography, psychology, engineering, PR and sociology.  They identify and analyze global trends that influence the future.  Paludan was speaking of these trends and answering questions that delegates had about the world’s economic future.

One delegate asked what to do if there was a global nuclear exchange.  Paludan replied that the results of some events are so unpredictable that it is not worth trying to plan for them.

This thought has stuck with me for decades because it helped me realize that no matter how cautious, how defensive and careful we are, there are events that we cannot even imagine that can turn our lives upside down, for the good or bad.  With this in mind my wife Merri and I have created a lifestyle where we turn our passions into profit but in a way that whatever happens we are likely to be in a position to spot the positive and the opportunity.

A PIEC Experience

Pruppies gain the benefits of PIEC wealth.  PIEC is an acronym for “Personal Income Earning Corridor”.  PIEC income and wealth come from doing what you do for love, rather than just the money.

Traditionally people get jobs to create income.  They work to live and support their lifestyle while attempting to spend less than they earn.  They hope, that maybe the savings will bring, sometime in the future, a lifestyle of doing something enjoyable without work.

Pruppies reverse the priorities.  Instead of working for money to save and invest, they focus their prime effort on doing something they enjoy right now.  Then they learn how to enjoy the effort in some profitable way.  They learn to create “Avenues of Abundance” that combine lifestyle with the necessary task of accumulating wealth.

If economic circumstances tie them to an existing income effort, they create hobbies that are income producers of the future.

For example, if a Pruppie loves golf; instead of working six days a week, 50 weeks a year just to golf on Sundays and during short vacations, instead he or she will create a business in some aspect of the golfing trade.

In another example, a client of mine, who loved animals became a vet.  But he learned that the vet’s lifestyle was not one he enjoyed.  He wanted to travel and move around, which is difficult for a professional who needs to stay at his office and build a practice.  So he built a business that prepares special animal foods for race horses.  Now he travels globally visiting horse breeders and makes much more money as well.

Pruppies combine money with time, energy and desires.  They generate income doing something desired.  Desire and fulfillment become at least as, if not more, important as the money.

#1: Do What You Love!

The reason PIECs work well is that when we love to do something, we do it better, for longer and with greater enthusiasm.

Effort, determination and tenacity are wealth building attributes that cannot fail.  Yet Pruppism does not mean we should suddenly abandon our jobs and try becoming golf pros, when we have never been able to break 100.  Smart Pruppies start small and gradually expand into their passion.

For example, as a writer and lecturer, I was never fully satisfied sitting behind a desk or standing on a podium all day long, even though I was making over a million bucks a year. I’m the physical, outdoors type and yearned for exercise and the wilds of the deep woods. “What good’s the money if this isn’t fun?” I often asked myself.

Rather than quit writing and teaching, I looked for ways to combine these professions with the outdoor life.  Through research I learned that many city folk like myself yearn to be in the primitive outdoors.  So I bought an isolated farm high in the Blue Ridge Mountains and an Andean plantation high in Ecuador where I developed seminar centers with charming but simple dwellings, set in rustic surroundings, with clean water and pure air.  Now I live in nature so after I finish the writing or talking, I can walk in the woods or take my axe and chop firewood or something physical.  I’ve combined my writing with physical work and have blended the life I want, with my readers’ needs in a way that makes great financial sense.

We built a series of cabins in the wild that bring more profits than most stocks or bonds could ever return.

The process took six years to shift. Now we have been at this for nearly two decades and we are far from finished.  But while doing what we love, who cares? This is one of the great benefits of PIEC investing. We can slow down and enjoy the work instead of always rushing ahead, looking for something more.

Those who work nine to five can start PIEC businesses part time if they are too uneasy to quit their jobs. Others, who like myself, already have a business can slowly shift their product or service in a sensible way and let it evolve toward their PIEC.

But where do we start?

There is a seven step process we can all use whether we have our own careers, a business or even if we are retired (PIEC investing is especially good for retired folks who have found the supposed good life flat or financially short).

The first step is to get a clear idea or vision of our dream.  This is sometimes harder to achieve than it seems.  We are so deluged with false ideals from Washington, Wall Street, Madison Avenue, etc. that we have to stop and really take stock.  What do we sincerely want?

There is a very practical economic reason to look inwards for wealth.  Warren Buffet recommends that we only invest in what we understand. What can we understand better than ourselves?

This inner search will lead us to an ideal that begins the second step which is gaining enthusiasm.  How can we be anything but enthusiastic about finally fulfilling our deepest dreams?  The enthusiasm leads to the third step; gaining an education.

We need to find out everything we can about our idea.  To succeed we must take the third step and become real experts in the product or service we offer.

Fourth, this educational process allows us to develop an intelligent, focused business plan we can act upon and the action is the fifth step which brings us the experience. Experience gives us the sixth step, a financial loss or profit.  We always profit in increased knowledge which creates the seventh step, more ideas.

Then the entire cycle starts all over again: Idea, Enthusiasm, Education, Action, Experience, Financial Profit and New Ideas.

This is a way to keep adding new opportunities into our lives.  Business is rarely static. It is an ever evolving process instead.

This seven step cycle may take days, weeks, months or years, but the moment you begin you’ll start moving into an avenue of affluence where you love your work so though money isn’t your main goal it comes more easily.

#2: Do what you love, but also be of service.  Do something for others that is meaningful and important to you.

We all have a purpose in life and when we are filling it, we feel fulfilled.  Wealth and fulfillment is the goal.  Fulfillment is important because of the law of diminishing returns.  A 2008 study that analyzed Gallup surveys of 450,000 Americans suggested that day-to-day contentment improves until income hits around $75,000 per annum.  After that, more money just brings more stuff, with far less gain in happiness.  Income beyond $75,000 does not do much for a person’s daily mood.

This is a pretty general study and regional differences in costs, inflation and life circumstances will create many fluctuations from this norm, but the point is when money is the main goal, the better you get, the harder it will be to gain satisfaction.

Giving, on the other hand, never has limitations, especially when the giving helps complete a purpose that is part of our destiny.

This is true in business and investing.  A study of investors for example found that investors with socially responsible ideals gained the best returns.  A dual goal of profit and achieving some social benefit provides a purpose beyond returns.  This brings comfort and determination to the investments and the added stick-to-it-ness helps increase profits.

The study helped define three aspects of investing that are generally ignored, purpose and habits.

Purpose.  Purpose requires some soul-searching questions about what we each want our life to be.  This purpose is more important than the investment goal.  The purpose of the money we have becomes more important than the amount in the portfolio.

Habits.  Habits come next because we need to create habits and routines that keep us on the path of our unique purpose.  The marketplace does all it can to distract us from our goals.  There is an endless stream of news, rumor, conjecture, facts figures, ideas and tactics generated by every part of every stock market aimed at getting us to act in ways that benefit the agenda of others.

Good habits help us avoid being distracted from what we are meant and want to do.  Good habits muffle the noise of Madison Avenue, the spin from Washington DC and the hidden agendas of big business.  These are among the most powerful ways to increase wealth.  Having greater fulfillment as well as more wealth is a bonus that Pruppies call “Everlasting Wealth”.

#3: Integrate your earning and investing.

Long term success in business and investing are determined by control and comfort.

Comfort comes from feeling in control, but since there is always something we do not know, real comfort comes from knowing that we are serving a valuable purpose, the best we can, regardless of how events unfold.

Real comfort helps maintain determination, dedication and enthusiasm, all among the most vital parts in the process of succeeding in investing and business.

Our own business increases comfort because a business is simply an investment that gives us more control due to the addition of our own time and energy.

A Personal Income Earning Corridor (PIEC) begin with a main income generator that we control.  For some this is a job with a salary.  For others it is a pension. For many it is their own business using the concepts of SNAP (Small Niche Area Publishing).

Here’s why self publishing offers such great potential.

Sam Walton… or is it Warren Buffet?  Self publishing is based on three cherished beliefs that two of the wealthiest people in the world, Sam Walton and Warren Buffet, shared.

Buffet and Walton shared several cherished business beliefs that you can gain from a special writing and publishing business that is at its very beginning stage.

Cherished Belief #1:  Small is Beautiful.  Both Sam Walton (Bentonville, Arkansas) and Warren Buffet (Omaha, Nebraska) chose America’s heartland away from the big cities as their homes.  What’s more, Walton chose to do business in these small places as well… building the largest retail operation in the world almost entirely in small towns.

Warren Buffet believes that potential in small towns offers special value.  He believes this so strongly that he has been buying newspapers in small towns.

Over the last few years Berkshire Hathaway purchased 63 small and mid-sized daily and weekly newspapers throughout the United States.

He plans to buy more and says: “I like buying individual papers at the right prices.”

Buffet stated that Berkshire is not buying big newspapers or more newspaper shares. He is sticking with small publications because he believes in the value of local communities.

Cherished Belief #2:  Community Orientation.

Buffet is not buying big publications but is grabbing up small community focused publications.

His bet is that publications focused on local communities can withstand the shift of readers and advertisers to the Internet.

The individual papers can be really small as 10,000 circulation with tiny staffs.

He said no one has stopped reading “half-way through a story that was about them or their neighbors.”

He also noted, “Berkshire buys for keeps. I’d rather buy newspapers myself directly,” and is seeking papers that publish in cities and towns with a “Sense of  Community.”

From this vision WalMart remains committed not just to expanding the businesses but to improving the communities.

You can enjoy all these benefits through Self publishingbecause small communities can be places, ideas or ideas within places.

The factors that makes publications like this successful are its common interests.  Common interest can be focused on a geographical area or a niche idea that targets a niche of a larger market.  For example, the market for truckers is quite large, but trackers that look after their health is a much smaller niche.  One benefit of SNAP publishing is it surrounds you with people who have a common interest, so your readers are like-minded souls.

Cherished Belief #3:  Seek Good Value.

Sam Walton built one of the largest fortunes in the world… with the simple goals of providing great value and great customer service.  Warren Buffett’s belief is that the essence of value investing is buying stocks at less than their intrinsic value.  The discount is called the “Margin of Safety”.

Both Buffet and Walton shared a vision that small towns ignored by the mainstream offered good value.  You can tap into extra profit potential as a SNAP publisher who helps a small community.

Knowing BOTH successful niche magazine publishers and internet marketing geniuses is important for a reason that Buffet outlined to his publishers when he purchased their papers.  Buffet believes that small newspapers will change and that they serve an important purpose.  He said, “Papers must rethink the industry’s initial response to the Internet as focus on continuing to maintain a strong sense of community“.

His bet is that publications focused on local communities can withstand the shift of readers and advertisers to the Internet.  Buffet has said that giving news away free online is “unsustainable” and has sought papers that publish in cities and towns with a “sense of community.

We have never seen this need for a sense of community as we do know because community creates trust.  As the world has expanded on big is better, the public has lost trust.  We no longer trust big business, big government, big hospitals, big banks, etc.  Yet publications offer nothing if they do not have the reader’s trust.  Internet publishing on the big scale has reduced trust.  Anyone can say anything on the internet and thus internet information is highly suspect.  Publishers who use a small niche to create trust have an advantage.

To begin this introduction let me add one more point and outline the value of what I am about to offer.  A SNAP publication may eventually require $5,000, $10,000 or even $15,000 in start up costs but can make up to $11,835 a month… or more.  That’s value… plain and simple.

Recent news about Social Security, pensions and health care shows that the US government has excessive debt today and that we as individuals need tactics to make sure, when governments, pensions and insurers weasel out of their promises, that we can take care of ourselves.

One big broken promise is Social Security and Medicare.  The most recent Social Security trustee report shows that the programs will begin to spend more than they earn within just three or four years.   The Medicare hospital-insurance trust fund, could use all its reserves by 2028.  They face insolvency over the next 20 years because Social Security runs totally out of money by 2034.

My three natural health reports help learn ways to be happier, healthier and avoid much of the Western disease management (aka healthcare) expense.

Each report is available for $19.95.  However you’ll receive all three FREE as club member and save $59.85.

Next, club members participate in an intensive program called the Purposeful Investing Course (Pi).  The purpose of Pi is finding value investments that increase safety and profit.  Learn Slow, Worry Free, Good Value Investing.

Stress, worry and fear are three of an investor’s worst enemies.  These destroyers of wealth can create a Behavior Gap, that causes investors to underperform in any market good or bad. The behavior gap is created by natural human responses to fear.  Pi helps create profitable strategies that avoid losses from this gap.

Lessons from Pi are based on the creation and management of numerous Model Portfolios, called Pifolio.

We combine the research of several brilliant mathematicians and money managers with my years of investing experience.

There are no secrets about this portfolio except that these mathematicians ignore the stories from economic news (often created by someone with vested interests) and is based mainly on good math that reveals the truth through financial news.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets using my 50 years of global experience and my study of the analysis of four mathematical investing geniuses (and friends).

This is a complete and continual study of what to do about the movement of international major and emerging stock markets.  I want to share this study throughout the next year with you.

This analysis forms the basis of a Good Value Stock Market Strategy.  The analysis is rational, mathematical and does not worry about short term ups and downs.  This strategy is easy for anyone to follow and use.  Pi reveals the best value markets and provides contacts to managers and analysts and Country Index ETFs so almost anyone can create and follow their own strategy.

The costs are low and this type of ETF is one of the hardest for institutions to cheat.  Expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund.  Little knowledge, time, management or guesswork are required.  The investment is simply a diversified portfolio of good value indices.  Investments in an index are like investments in all the shares of a good value market.

Pi opens insights to numerous long term cycles that most investors miss because they have not been investing long enough to see them.

The Pi subscription is normally $299 per annum but as a club member you receive Pi at no charge and save an additional $299.

There are two more reports I’ll send about the most exciting opportunities I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.

This report sells for $29.95 but when you become an International Club member you’ll receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns For 50% Profits or More” FREE.

Plus get the $39.99 report, “The Silver Dip 2019” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the past two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80 and has remained near this level, compared to a range of the 230s only two years ago.

These two events are a strong sign to invest in precious metals.

I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2019” updated in late 2018.   The report explained the exact conditions you need to make leveraged silver & gold speculations that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The purpose of the report is to share long term lessons about speculating in precious metals gained through 30 years of speculating and investing in gold and silver.

The price of silver may offer special value later in 2019, but the price of platinum is special now.   So I want to send you the report “Platinum Dip 2019”.
