Global Lifestyle Question

A reader recently sent me this global lifestyle question.

Gary,  I am interested in the Cotacachi Condo building.  If it is still available, the rental income looks attractive. Does it have a long rental history, and do you currently have a manager for the building? Sounds like you don’t like being a landlord, may I ask why?

I’m a fluent Spanish speaker (lived in Madrid 3 years) and thinking of investing in South America soon, living there eventually. Your newsletters have been a real inspiration and I’m now working with Jyske Bank.

How We Can Serve You

How to Have Real Safety

garyheadshot

There are only three reasons why we should invest.  We invest for income.  We invest to resell our investments for more than we had invested.  We invest to make our world a better place.

We should not invest for fun, excitement or to get rich quick, or in a panic due to market corrections.

This is why the core Pi model portfolio (that forms the bulk of my own equity portfolio) consists of 19 shares and this position has not changed in over two years.  During these two years we have been steadily accumulating the same 19 shares and have not traded once.

The portfolio has done well in 2017, up 22.6%, better than the DJI Index.

motif

However one or even two year’s performance is not enough data to create a safe strategy.

The good value portfolio above is based entirely on good value financial information and mathematically based safety programs developed around models that date back 91 and 24 years.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets developed combining my 50 years of investing experience with study of the mathematical market value analysis of Keppler Asset Management and the mathematical trend analysis of Tradestops.com.

In my opinion, Keppler is one of the best market statisticians in the world.  Numerous very large fund managers, such as State Street Global Advisers, use his analysis to manage over $2.5 billion of funds.

The Pifolio analysis begins with Keppler who continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each major stock market’s history.

Fwd: keppler

Michael Kepler CEO Keppler Asset Management.

Michael is a brilliant mathematician.  We have tracked his analysis for over 20 years.   He continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each stock market’s history.  From this, he develops his Good Value Stock Market Strategy and rates each market as a Buy, Neutral or Sell market.  His analysis is rational, mathematical and does not cause worry about short term ups and downs.  Keppler’s strategy is to diversify into an equally weighted portfolio of the MSCI Indices of each BUY market.

This is an easy, simple and effective approach to zeroing in on value because little time, management and guesswork is required.  You are investing in a diversified portfolio of good value indices.

A BUY rating for an index does NOT imply that any stock in that country is an attractive investment, so you do not have to spend hours of research aimed at picking specific shares.  It is not appropriate or enough to instruct a stockbroker to simply select stocks in the BUY rated countries.  Investing in the index is like investing in all the shares in the index.  You save time because all you have to do is invest in the ETF to gain the profit potential of the entire market.

To achieve this goal of diversification the Pifolio consists of Country Index ETFs.

Country Index ETFs are similar to an index mutual fund but are shares normally traded on a major stock exchange that tracks an index of shares in a specific country.  ETFs do not try to beat the index they represent.  The management is passive and tries to emulate the performance of the index.

A country ETF provides diversification into a basket of equities in the country covered.  The expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund as well so such ETFs provide diversification and cost efficiency.

Here is the Pifolio I personally use.

70% is diversified into Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) developed markets: Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Norway, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

30% of the Pifolio is invested in Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) emerging markets: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The Pifolio consists of iShares ETFs that invested in each of the MSCI indicies of the good value BUY markets.

For example, the iShares MSCI Australia (symbol EWA) is a Country Index ETF that tracks the investment results the Morgan Stanley Capital Index MSCI Australia Index which is composed mainly of large cap and small cap stocks traded primarily on the Australian Stock Exchange mainly of companies in consumer staples, financials and materials. This ETF is non-diversified outside of Australia.

iShares is owned by Black Rock, Inc. the world’s largest asset manager with over $4 trillion in assets under management.

Pi uses math to reveal the best value markets then protects its positions using more math created by Richard Smith founder and CEO of Tradestops.com to track each share’s trend.

We use Smith’s  algorithms that calculate momentum of the good value markets.

dr richard smith

The Stock State Indicators at Tradestops.com act as a full life-cycle measure that indicates the health of each stock. They are designed to tell you at a glance exactly where any stock stands relative to Dr. Smith’s proprietary algorithms.

Kepppler’s analysis shows the value of markets.  The SSI signal indicates the current trend of each stock (performing well, or in a period of correction, or stopped out).

The SSI tells you one of five things:

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.51.59 AM

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.52.12 AM

Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 6.52.22 AM

Akey component of the Stock State Indicator (SSI) system is momentum based on the latest 521 days of trading.  A stock changes from red to green in the SSI system only after it has already gone up a healthy amount and has started a solid uptrend.

How SSI Alerts Are Triggered

If the position has already moved more than its Volatility Quotient below a recent high, the SSI Stop Loss will trigger.  This is an indicator that the position has corrected more than what is normal for this stock.  It means to take caution.

Below is an example of how SSIs work.  This example shows the Developed Market Pifolio that we track at Tradestops.com.

tradestops

Equal Weight Good Value Developed Market Pifolio.

At the time this example was copied, all the ETFs in the Developed Market Pifolio (above) currently had a green SSI.

We do not know when the US market will fall.  We only do know that it will.  We also do not know if, when the US market corrects, global markets will follow or rise instead.

The fact that the Pifilios are invested in good value markets reduces long term risk.

Additional protection is added by using trailing stops based on the 521 day momentum of each stock in the Pifolio.

Take for example the graph below from our Tradestops account that shows the iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF.  This ETF had a green SSI and a Volatility Index (VQ) of 13.26%.  This means the share can move 13.26% before there is a trend shift.

tradestops

iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF (Symbol EWU)

Pi purchased the share at$31.26 and in this example the share was $34.43 and rising.  Tradestop’s algorithms suggested that if the price drops to $31.69 its momentum would have stopped and it would have shifted into trading sideways.   The stop loss price is currently $29.86.  If EWU continues to rise, both the yellow warning and the stop loss price will rise as well.

When the US stock market bull ends, know one knows for sure how long or how severe the correction will be.

When the bear arrives, what will happen to global and especially good value markets?

No  one knows the answer to this question.

What we do know is that the equally weighted, good value market Pifolios have the greatest potential long term and that math based trailing stops can be used to protect against a secular global stock market correction when it comes.

My fifty years of global investing experience helps take advantage of numerous long term cycles that are part of the universal math that affects all investments.

You also receive two special reports.

In the 1980s, a remarkable set of two economic circumstances helped anyone who spotted them become remarkably rich.  Some of my readers made enough to retire.  Others picked up 50% currency gains.  Then the cycle ended.  Warren Buffett explained the importance of this ending in a 1999 Fortune magazine interview.  He said:  Let me summarize what I’ve been saying about the stock market: I think it’s very hard to come up with a persuasive case that equities will over the next 17 years perform anything like—anything like—they’ve performed in the past 17!

I did well then, but always thought, “I should have invested more!”  Now those circumstances have come together and I am investing in them again.

The circumstances that created fortunes 30 years ago were an overvalued US market (compared to global markets) and an overvalued US dollar.  The two conditions are in place again!

30 years ago, the US dollar rose along with Wall Street.  Profits came quickly over three years.  Then the dollar dropped like a stone, by 51%  in just two years.  A repeat of this pattern is growing and could create up to 50% extra profit if we start using strong dollars to accumulate good value stock market ETFs in other currencies.

This is the most exciting opportunity I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I have created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.  I kept the report short and simple, but included links to 153 pages of  Good Value Stock Market research and Asset Allocation Analysis.

The report shows 20 good value investments and a really powerful tactic that shows the most effective and least expensive way to accumulate these bargains in large or even very small amounts (less than $5,000).  There is extra profit potential of at least 50% so the report is worth a lot.

This report sells for $29.95 but in this special offer, you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More” FREE when you subscribe to Pi.

Plus get the $39.95 report “The Platinum Dip 2018” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the last two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80, compared to a ratio of 230 only two years before.

In September 2015, I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2015” about a silver speculation, leveraged with a British pound loan, that could increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The tactics described in that report generated 62.48% profit in just nine months.

I have updated this report and added how to use the Dip Strategy with platinum.   The “Platinum Dip 2018” report shares the latest in a series of long term lessons gained through 40 years of speculating and investing in precious metals.  I released the 2015 report, when the gold silver ratio slipped to 80.  The ratio has corrected and that profit has been taken and now a new precious metals dip has emerged.

I have prepared a new special report “Platinum Dip 2018” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

You also learn from the Value Investing Seminar, our premier course, that we have been conducting for over 30 years.  Tens of thousands of delegates have paid up to $999 to attend.  Now you can join the seminar online FREE in this special offer.

seminars

Tens of thousands have paid up to $999 to attend.

In 2018 I celebrate my 52nd anniversary in the investing business and 50th year of writing about global investing.  Our reports and seminars have helped readers have better lives, with less stress yet make fortunes during up and down markets for decades.  This information is invaluable to investors large and small because even small amounts can easily be invested in the good value shares we cover in our seminar.

Stock and currency markets are cyclical.  These cycles create extra profit for value investors who invest when everyone else has the markets wrong.  One special seminar session looks at how to spot value from cycles.  Stocks rise from the cycle of war, productivity and demographics.  Cycles create recurring profits.  Economies and stock markets cycle up and down around every 15 to 20 years as shown in this graph.

stock-Charts

The effect of war cycles on the US Stock Market since 1906.

Bull and bear cycles are based on cycles of human interaction, war, technology and productivity.  Economic downturns can create war.

The chart above shows the war – stock market cycle.  Military struggles (like the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Cold War: WW III) super charge inventiveness that creates new forms of productivity…the steam engine, the internal combustion engine,  production line processes, jet engines, TV, farming techniques, plastics, telephone, computer and lastly during the Cold War, the internet.  The military technology shifts to domestic use.  A boom is created that leads to excess.  Excess leads to correction. Correction creates an economic downturn and again to war.

Details in the online seminar include:

* How to easily buy global currencies, shares and bonds.

* Trading down and the benefits of investing in real estate in Small Town USA.  We will share why this breakout value is special and why we have been recommending good value real estate in this area since 2009.

* What’s up with gold and silver?  One session looks at my current position on gold and silver and asset protection.  We review the state of the precious metal markets and potential problems ahead for US dollars.  Learn how low interest rates eliminate  opportunity costs of diversification in precious metals and foreign currencies.

* How to improve safety and increase profit with leverage and staying power.  The seminar reveals Warren Buffett’s value investing strategy from research published at Yale University’s website.  This research shows that the stocks Buffet chooses are safe (with low beta and low volatility), cheap (value stocks with low price-to-book ratios), and high quality (stocks of companies that are profitable, stable, growing, and with high payout ratios). His big, extra profits come from leverage and staying power.  At times Buffet’s portfolio, as all value portfolios, has fallen, but he has been willing and able to wait long periods for the value to reveal itself and prices to recover.

keppler asset management chart

This chart based on a 45 year portfolio study shows that holding a diversified good value portfolio (based on a  good value strategy) for 13 month’s time, increases the probability of out performance to 70%.  However those who can hold the portfolio for five years gain a 88% probability of beating the bellwether in the market and after ten years the probability increases to 97.5%.

Time is your friend when you use a good value strategy.  The longer you can hold onto a well balanced good value portfolio, the better the odds of outstanding success.

Learn how much leverage to use.  Leverage is like medicine, the key is dose.  The best ratio is normally 1.6 to 1.  We’ll sum up the strategy; how to leverage cheap, safe, quality stocks and for what period of time based on the times and each individual’s circumstances.

Learn to plan in a way so you never run out of money.  The seminar also has a session on the importance of having and sticking to a plan.  See how success is dependent on conviction, wherewithal, and skill to operate with leverage and significant risk.  Learn a three point strategy based on my 50 years of investing experience combined with wisdom gained from some of the world’s best investment managers and economic mathematical scientists.

The online seminar also reveals  the results of a $80,000 share purchase cost test that found the least expensive way to invest in good value.  The keys to this portfolio are good value, low cost, minimal fuss and bother.  Plus a great savings of time.  Trading is minimal, usually not more than one or two shares are bought or sold in a year.  I wanted to find the very least expensive way to create and hold this portfolio so I performed this test.

I have good news about the cost of the seminar as well.   For almost three decades the seminar fee has been $799 for one or $999 for a couple. Tens of thousands paid this price, but online the seminar is $297.

Global Lifestyle Anniversary

Each May Merri and I celebrate the anniversary of a lifestyle change that has led our lifelong global micro business.

My global investing and business began over four decades ago May 2, 1968 in Asia and eventually led me to Europe, Florida, the Blue Ridge and Ecuador.

My background as son of a zoo keeper did not leave me prepared.

ecuador-global-investing

Here is a newspaper clipping of my sister Sandra and me feeding a baby lion we kept at home… one of many lions and tigers we raised.

The goal of our websites are to help you prosper from the world’s increased pace of change so let me share over 40 years of ideas that can help you have the lifestyle you desire by looking at important facts that Merri and I have learned about earning via a micro internet business.

I arrived in Hong Kong in the night, the tropical air so soft it was a velvet mist.   Thick evening scents in the fragrant harbor and mellow insects purring in rhythm with the cacophony of the great city!  What a an exotic adventure.

Kai Tak was Hong Kong’s airport then and being American born and bred, I knew nothing about investing aboard.

That was my first airplane trip, first time out of Oregon. Portland to Vancouver, Tokyo to Hong Kong.  I melted in my heavy woolen blazer, was weary and afraid but excited too. An incredible global investing journey had begun… and continues to this day.

Here I was, 21 years old.

passport_25_07_2007_4.jpg

Here is the first stamp in that first passport. That stamp you might say was my first international investment.

passport2_25_07_2007_3.jpg

That first stamp makes a point by the way about how to enter and initially work or invest in a country.  That first stamp was issued May 2, 1968 and allowed me to stay in Hong Kong until June 2, 1968.

I worked in Hong Kong for quite some time on tourist stamps… coming in for a month at a time.   I was developing sales teams in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines at the same time so a month was plenty of time before I exited.

ecuador-global-investing

Here is one of my first sales teams… this one in Hong Kong led by John So Kwok Kee (far left – you can guess which one I am).

I built teams from the north in Japan down through Thailand.  One of the salesmen we worked with in Thailand, Brian Tracy, returned later to Canada and has had great success in the sales education field.

Starting a business, investigation or residence with a tourist visa is a pretty good idea. This is usually the easiest, most efficient, practical way to begin so you can be sure what you are doing and how you’ll develop a more permanent stay if you want one.  In many cases… such as mine… a permanent tourist system is simply the easiest and best.

Having a micro internet business is even easier since you can start small, live almost anywhere and still run your business.

I began my business in Hong Kong this way (small) and for years I also lived and worked in England on tourist visas before obtaining my permanent residence there.

A reader recently sent me this note about Ecuador tourist visas.

“Gary, When I was staying at the Hotel, someone mentioned that you do not have a residential visa for Ecuador.  Is this correct?  How do you
spend as much time in the country as you do?”

Here is my rely:

“We have always spent less than six months a year in Ecuador as we do not want to become resident in most of the places we live.  We believe in the six point command posture which you’ll learn about in this handbook. The idea is to separate  your residence from where you earn and where you invest.

Back to Hong Kong.  I began there selling US mutual funds.

When arriving there 41 years ago there is no way I could have known how exciting the next decades would be, how much information, facts, figures, ideas and insights on how to invest globally would be gained. Had I known the mistakes to be made I would probably have run!

Then I moved east again to England and Europe… trying many things.

Thankfully all the trials, tortures and errors were mitigated by much fun and an earnest endeavor to learn.

ecuador-global-investing

Here is a newspaper clipping of me  with a business partner in my London office on Artillery Row selling square inches of Graceland. This was before the Elvis estate really became big. This was not really a very good idea I might add.

Later I imported used Rolls Royces and Bentleys from England to the US… a better idea…  but

ecuador-global-investing

in retrospect this is not a business I would do again.  We live and learn and this helps our businesses grow.  I might import the deux chevaux instead.

2cv_duo

This was described by CAR magazine journalist and author LJK Setright as “the most intelligent application of minimalism ever to succeed as a car”. Imagine how much good we could do in the world if everyone drove a two cylinder 61 miles per gallon car! See more in Lowtech magazine below.

One goal at this site is to share basics of global investing.. micro internet business and living an international life learned over our more than 40 years of experience. Global investing and business have changed so much during this time and is changing even faster now.  I am continually forced to rearrange my thinking strategy and tactics at a faster pace.

For example in the 1980s few of us gave much thought to the gas consumption of a Rolls Royce.   Today the deux chevaux would sell better.

This shift is one reason we began offering health courses at our North Carolina farm.  Here I am with our son, Jake, with one tactic we taught… a morning dip in a cold creek after exercise… yes, that is snow on the banks and no… this idea, not surprisingly, did not sell very well either.  However our natural health focus has grown a lot.

ecuador-global-investing

Our food as medicine courses taught by Merri in her teaching kitchen at the farm had better attendance!

ecuador-global-investing

For over 15 years we conducted courses in Ecuador and you’ll learn in this handbook why we now integrate them with US and Canadian seminars as well.

Here I am in the meeting room at the Cotacachi museum next to Meson de las Flores on an Ecuador export tour.

ecuador-global-investing

This continual evolution has helped Merri and me, our readers and our income continually grow… through good times and bad.

The reason we have survived and progressed amidst never ending update is because we recognize that the stuff that shifts and evolves is important, but the fundamentals remain immutable.  Plus ce change plus ce la meme chose… the more things change, the more they stay the same.

So though our business is totally online now… the basics and our mission statement are still the same… “provide interesting, useful information and contacts that help make people’s lives better as they prosper from change”.

Global investments and businesses are not a panacea, but expanded horizons are.  They help us see further into the future.

Life is a trip and we have an entire globe to enjoy the ride.  Expanding our horizons beyond our local borders can help our visions penetrate the mists of tomorrow so we can adjust to gain opportunity and avoid dangers ahead.

For example global studies of economic markets led me to write on my May 2, 2007 anniversary: “History suggests that this is a time when chances are increased for panic and sudden drops in investment markets. Investors who have proven themselves nervous short term thinkers are highly leveraged, in thin, over purchased markets that are easily sinkable boats treading the dangerous waters of May though October when tradition says the currents will most likely be treacherous and surrounded with lots of storms.”

Then our global view helped us see ahead and write at this site on October 26, 2008,  the week before the Dow dropped below 10,000, “I sent my Multi Currency subscribers a Triple Crunch warning… three signals of caution in equity markets that could cause a market crunch.”

Then in April and May 2010 the week before the Dow dipped again below 10,000 in the worst one day crash ever: I shared three warnings about the US stock market at Jyske Global Asset Management’s (JGAM) Laguna Beach forex seminar, a weekend ago and began slipping these warnings out in messages even before then.  Our April 21 message warned about the risks in May 2010 that start with Seasonality.

Then May 3, 2010 our message had an Economic Cycle Review that showed why equities could be in danger now.

This was just before the storm.

Dow-chart

This chart from www.finance.yahoo.com shows how our warnings were just before the worst one day drop n the Dow’s history.

Before I could get the third warning to readers, the bottom fell out of the Dow as this Dow Industrial chart from finance.yahoo.com shows.

This third warning however is still worth sending because as it is said, “you ain’t seen nuttin yet”.  Now I can reach readers faster with Twitter.  Follow my Tweets at garyascott.

Yet in 2009 during that fall I began to encourage readers to look for bargains because the more the market fell… the more I knew it would come back.

I learned this on my first trip abroad 42 years ago in 1968 which was the beginning of a new era for world stock markets. When I arrived in Hong Kong the world of investing had been dominated by Wall Street. That was about to end. 1968 was the year when the Hong Kong Stock Market began to explode upwards along with Tokyo’s market. What a ride!

The Heng Seng Index was then 100 and rose to 18,000. Anyone who steadily committed money to this market then made a fortune.

I can sum up my investment basic investing patterns and the advice I have shared in my newsletters and later my ezine in seven sentences.

#1: 1970s. Invest in real estate, gold, silver Japan, Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong.

#2: 1980s. Invest in real estate, the Tigers, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea as well.

#3: 1990s. Invest in real estate South America (which led me to Ecuador).

#4: 2000s. Invest in real estate, China, India and emerging markets including Ecuador real estate.

#5: Always have an expansive view.

#6: Use stop losses during peaks.

#7: Have an international investment view. Never overextend. Don’t trade too much, just keep looking for and holding good value thematic purpose driven investments.

This philosophy has reaped millions for Merri and me. More important this approach has helped us follow our purpose and feel that we are doing more for the world than just making a buck.

The increased pace of change leaves all of us with a lot to do.

We feel healthier and more energetic then 43 years ago.   Maybe I am not wiser… but I am more experienced and seem in a better position than when I took that first trip to Hong Kong so Merri and I look forward to the next 43 years… and we look forward to sharing them with you!

Learn Spanish in Three Days

Learn Spanish in Three Days ONLINE

The “Learn Spanish in Three Day Course” is now available online.

Learn Spanish in a day, or a week, month or any time frame that works for you.

I’m Gary Scott.  Over fifty years ago I started a business that has helped hundreds of thousands of subscribers learn about investing in Hong Kong (1960s and 1970s), Switzerland, London, Isle of Man (1970s and 1980s) and across Europe.  In the 1990s we took investors to Panama, Mexico and Ecuador.  That’s when we realized an incredible need for an easy way to learn Spanish.

See below how my wife Merri was able to create a program that allowed students to be speaking and understanding Spanish in just three days.

Thousands of subscribers have learned Spanish at our three day Super Spanish course.  These courses have been taught across the US, in Canada, Panama, Mexico, Ecuador, Uruguay and Spain.

Read below to see how and why we are now offering our Super Spanish course ONLINE for the first time.

Speaking Spanish as a second language has huge benefits.

You can become one of the rare North Americans who can get along in Spanish speaking countries.  You can be one of the special people who can communicate with 10 million non-English speakers in the USA.  Spanish is the second most used language in the USA.  There are more Spanish speakers than speakers of Chinese, French, German, Italian, Hawaiian, and the Native American languages combined.  According to the Census Bureau, Spanish is the primary language of nearly 50 million people in the US.  This is the largest Spanish-speaking community outside of Mexico. Only half of these speakers also speak English “very well,” and 19% do not speak English at all.

You become one of a leading few when you speak Spanish.  Yet there are more benefits.

An article in England’s leading newspaper, the Telegraph, entitled “Why learn a foreign language? Benefits of bilingualism” (1) sum up the biggest benefit of learning a second language and increased intelligence.  The article says (bolds are mine): “Learning a foreign language is more than just a boost to your CV or handy for traveling.

It will make you smarter, more decisive and even better at English.

Physiological studies have found that speaking two or more languages is a great asset to the cognitive process.  The brains of bilingual people operate differently than single language speakers, and these differences offer several mental benefits.”

The article then explains studies that show seven cognitive advantages gained from learning a foreign language.

#1:  You become smarter

Does it sound impossible to learn Spanish in three days?  Yes, it is impossible when you try to learn Spanish in the old, traditional way.

You may choose to take more time using the ONLINE course to learn Spanish, but thousands of our readers have learned to speak Spanish in only three days at our Spanish courses.

There is a scientific method of learning… proven and described in numerous best selling books that create educational jumps by making education natural, easy and fun.   This course works because it is education without stress!

A special method of learning (called Super Learning) was created and refined by the Bulgarian educational master, Georgi Lozanov.   Lozanov transformed the entire Soviet educational system to such a degree that this third world country beat the USA into space.

My wife Merri was lucky to be one of a handful of students outside of Bulgaria who were allowed to be taught this system in the early 1970s.  She practiced this unique and remarkable form of education for  four decades. It was a delight!

Merri and I began integrating these techniques with other shamanic and educational tactics we had gained in our global travels and then applied them to teach Spanish in three days.

The course has been proven again and again by the thousands who have used this system.  You can read a few of the many raves we have received from students who have learned from the Super Thinking Spanish course we created.

Here are a few quotes from delegates of the course.

One delegate from St. Louis wrote:  Hi Gary,  Just ended forty-five years in dentistry last week, and I’m on to a new career.  What is my new career?  Still formulating, but the eye -opening,mind expanding Super-Spanish course last weekend in St. Louis surely shows me the opportunity exists to expand my horizons.

Besides having a lot of nice people to learn our new language; the methods Merri and you developed proved to be just what you said they would be.  We all and I in particular relaxed our way to new learning.  I feel so very comfortable with the basis of my new language skills that I know I will be spitting out great Spanish sentences by the time I reach Ecuador in October.  Last year I spent six weeks in Ecuador and now I plan on conversing with the people.

Today’s excerpt of your newsletter really hit home. You do what you say you will. There are no surprises or hidden sales tricks. The only tricks are beneficial to our learning.  Thank you for a wonderful experience that I was quite unable to grasp how you would pull it off.  You did, however, and I look forward to other courses that you offer, and I have absolutely no doubt they also will work beneficially.  Best regards, Denis Molloy.

Another wrote about the Super Spanish course:   Buenos Dias, here is a testimonial for Super Thinking-Super Spanish.  Please feel free to use all or part in promotions for the course.  In addition, you may give my email address to any prospect “on the fence” about enrolling.  Yesterday, in Cotacachi, Ecuador, I finished Super Spanish.  I had high expectations for the course and they were exceeded.

After three days, I can speak Spanish in complete sentences. In simple conversations, such as buying groceries or ordering a meal, I can make myself understood. I think that’s incredible!

Although I am far from the competence level of a native speaker, I feel I’ve taken a giant step forward in learning Spanish so that I can experience the people and culture of Ecuador.  The foregoing benefits would have more than justified the time and money I invested in Super Spanish.  And learning some Spanish was not the most important benefit I got from the course.

Prior to leaving the USA, I had felt for some time that the pace of life there was unhealthy for me (and for most people) and I did nothing about it.

I’ve thought about the pace issue during the course.  One of the key elements Merri Scott designed into Super Spanish is placing the student in the optimal state for learning.  In class, the past three days, I’ve been re-introduced to guided journeys and introduced to the calming effects of Baroque music (www.sundaybaroque.org).  What a blessing! I’m inclined to make one or both a daily part of my life.   Rob Christi.  Cotacachi, Ecuador

Another attendee from a course wrote:   “I took this incredible class a few weeks ago, and I would like to tell anyone that is interested, that it is an amazing three days of learning with lots of laughs included. You leave everyday wanting to learn more and are so excited to do so.

“Other Spanish classes and tutoring made us feel like it would take forever to get to the point where we could put it into practice, but this method gave us a more fluent use for everyday life almost immediately AND the confidence to use it.  It is a fantastic way to show people how much they know and give confidence to learn and use Spanish creating a momentum.

“They made learning Spanish easy and fun in a very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.  I would definitely recommend this course.  Even if you know some Spanish, this helps make it easier because of the less stress that no verb conjugations gives you.  This gives you more confidence in yourself to try and speak it more.

“The stress free atmosphere and tons of interaction and participation were very conducive to learning.  The relaxation techniques alone are worth the price.  The fact that I can now feel more comfortable conversing in Spanish with my new friends and neighbors is priceless.  Muchas, muchas gracias.”

“I loved the relaxed environment.  I picked up quite a lot of new vocabulary.  I found this course very informative about how the language works, how I can make sentences and understand others better!  Muchas Gracias!  I had a call from Telcel (the local phone company) after our second class and I was able to speak and understand them for the first time. Despacio (meaning slowly) … a great word!  Everyone should take this course before they pick up bad habits.”

“I liked how simply the course was organized and the positive attitude about learning.  Thank you so much for helping me to learn Spanish!”

“I liked the laid back yet professional approach.  I highly recommend this new, relaxing method of learning Spanish,  I feel a lot more confident in the delivery of my words and sentences. It was taught in an excellent and very professional way.

“It was a very enjoyable class.”

How The Course Works

The first tactic is to use Baroque music to create Relaxed Concentration in the learning process.  At least three best selling books, “Superlearning”, the “Mozart Effect” and “Superlearning 2000” have revealed insights about how to learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian educational master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

Merri was among just a few who learned directly from Lozanov.

gary scott super thinking session

Super Spanish relaxed concentration session.

You gain six valuable ONLINE Relaxed Concentration sessions in the online course that is delivered via the internet.

The second tactic uses 17 unique lessons to provide Spanish fluency in a short time.   Let me prove to you how this tactic works by teaching you hundreds of Spanish words in less than 30 seconds.

Here is the proof.

“Most words in English that end in ION are almost identical, just pronounced differently.  For example action is accion, education-educacion, manipulation- manipulacion, etc.”

There you have it.  How long did it take you to read the sentence?  You now know hundreds of Spanish words that you will never forget.

See examples of the words you already know below.

How long would have taken you to memorize all those words?  How soon would you have forgotten them?

This is just one of seventeen Spanish lessons in the course.

The next lesson teaches how to pronounce each of the nouns.

Then, the third lesson teaches almost as many verbs, almost as quickly.

The fourth lesson shows how to avoid conjugating verbs by sticking with the infinitive (far easier than it sounds).  This simple lesson leaves a person sounding like a Spanish professor without ever conjugating a verb.

Lesson five shows how to sound infinitely polite and yet get almost anything desired in Spanish.

Lesson six gives valuable connectors and the seventh lesson triples the Spanish capacity with three words for “yesterday,” “now” and “tomorrow”.

By the end of three days you feel comfortable speaking Spanish.

Plus the system is Impro-Dynamic.  This means your Spanish keeps getting better even though you do not seem to be studying… practicing… or speaking Spanish.

I was amazed by this as I traveled back and forth from the USA to Ecuador.  The longer I was away from Ecuador… the better my Spanish became.  My second language was automatically improving The self improving feature comes because you learn to create Spanish sentences rather than remember them.  The portion of the brain that creates is more powerful than the portion that recalls.  When your mind creates something… it owns it!  You do not have to remember .

During the course you learn 4005 Spanish words that you already know.   This eliminates the need to memorize 99% of Spanish words.

You then learn how to create Spanish sentences from these words.

Throughout the course you learn how to pronounce the sentences you create.

When the course ends… the mind keeps working… and creating… so next time you begin to speak Spanish you’ll be surprised .  You improve even though you have not actively worked on your lingual skill.

Due to the difficulty of getting groups together to learn this valuable technique, we created an online program for subscribers to use the Super Spanish course at home.   The normal three day course fee is $499 ($749 for a couple).

The ONLINE course is available at the highly reduced price of $79.

I’ll be in touch personally via email with each person who signs up for this course to see how it works or what is required to make it better.  Once this test is complete, we plan to offer the program on a larger scale and at a much higher price.

Here are more testimonials from previous Super Spanish Courses.

Maggie wrote: It didn’t really seem possible that we would be speaking and understanding Spanish in only 3 days but the course made it happen in a very supportive learning environment.  I would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to learn “practical Spanish”.  The teaching methods, use of relaxation, the use of native Spanish speakers for pronunciation and the teachers themselves who were approachable and helpful and always positive made this a very valuable class.

This course improved my self confidence in my ability to learn and retain a language.  It was presented with genuine enthusiasm, great energy and the style of learning is very effective. Gracias!  It was a great experience.

Nadine wrote: “Just spent the last 3 days in the most wonderful learning environment learning Spanish.  What an amazing learning experience!!  First day out of class and I could not stop thinking in Spanish WOW!!  I am amazed by how much I learned, retained and how much more is showing up now that I am out of class.  And the best part is THERE WAS NO STUDYING!! Indeed this is Super Thinking!!!  I would highly recommend this to anyone that has ever had a desire to learn another language or learn anything in record time.

And a few days after that ….  As I went through my day, just hanging out with my son, I could see myself starting to think in Spanish.  At first I thought it was amusing but as it continued and increased I thought “My goodness this is really remarkable amazing” It was really an effortless unfolding.  I wasn’t at any point “trying” to think in Spanish, just words I knew would fly across the screen in my mind.  And then this afternoon, my son cuddled up on the couch to watch some cartoons on his ipad and was watching Peppa Pig in Spanish…hmm coincidence?  I think not, I’m radiating Spanish so much that my son is being influenced!  Thanks a million again.  This weekend the best learning experience of my life!!

If you have ever had a desire to learn Spanish this is the way to do it!  By the end of the first day I had more confidence and more practical ability than I had from any previous courses I had taken.  It was fun and relaxed and full of laughter.  You will leave this class excited to use what you have learned.  Rather than leaving overwhelmed with how much you have yet to learn and master, you are equipped with the knowledge and know how to go out and communicate as well as the excitement to do it!”

Gary noted:  “The whole approach is positive and conducive to learning at a level that benefits ALL participants.  It is not intimidating and does not set up a pass/fail atmosphere.  The presenters are terrific and the results unbelievable.  It was relaxed, informal, friendly and effective.”

Twila said:  “This class provided a very refreshing and relaxed way of learning.  The atmosphere felt very safe to say the words you were practicing.  I learned a lot in a way that will make it easy to apply.  Starting with conversation is way more fun.  How quickly you can learn!  It was a great group, great instructors and great stories.

The atmosphere in the classroom was so relaxed that learning Spanish felt like a breeze and not like a painful task.  The relaxation exercises are really conducive to language learning.  We learned A LOT in a short time and it was fun and the environment was non-threatening.”

Brigitte sent this:  “Buenos Dias, Suzanne. su clase de espanol es excelente! Muchas Gracias!
I have already done what you suggested and went into the program listening to the music and going over the lessons.  I know: Repetition……reinforcement…..thinking in the new language….it’s all part of it.  I loved your course and will certainly recommend it to friends.  Who knows….I might feel the urge and have the opportunity to repeat it at your beautiful place in Puerto Aventuras…..Quien sabe? Hasta otro dia y saludos a su familia.”

Marie wrote:  “I would highly recommend this course.  The amount covered in 3 days is amazing!  All with no stress.  The correlation lessons and pronunciation practice has greatly reduced my anxiety to go out and use my Spanish.  I really enjoyed the whole process and thank you for the take away tools.”

Wealth Beyond Logic

There are many ways to create wealth beyond logic.

universal-frequency

I try to make sure that I am working facing east and try to be at work during the sunrise. Here my office view as the sun rises in North Carolina about this time of year.

Then I try to stop working about the time the sunsets.  My North Carolina view  of the sunset.

Many years ago Merri and I lived for a winter with a Taita Yatchak and his apprentices. We lived as they did, without electricity, hot water or even a roof over our heads at night. We took all the shamanic lessons and one lesson was for abundance.  The Yatchak used to say visualize Golden Orange… the color of abundance.

Vedic traditions also always face the office towards the east.

Join us in North Carolina for our June 24-27 Quantum Wealth Through International Business & Investing.

We have been incorporating the ideas of using frequency for Quantum Health and Quantum Wealth into our courses and seminars for decades… but our  June 24 – 27 2010 devotes an entire session to this portion of the course.

These golden colors make me think of a golden rule of investing is that there is always some fact we do not know.

The uncertainty principle that is a core component of our universe… means we cannot be certain of any investment… any factany future. I guess this means we cannot even be certain of uncertainty, but I highly recommend that you expect it in forms we cannot even imagine… volcanoes shutting down the system. Greece going broke… maybe Spain, Portugal, Italy and even the USA as well.   Then expect something else unexpected to take place will have an impact… good or bad on your  savings, job, business, savings wealth and investments.

Merri and I believe in uncertainty and respect the limits of logic so we use many tactics to think, act, live, do business and invest beyond logic.

First, we put our relation with our Faith, our family and our health ahead of money. Without these foundations it is hard to be grounded… to resist greed and fear and to put emphasis on service, sustainability and fulfillment ahead of cash.

Second, we make sure our main investment is on our own business. Investments in shares or bonds and such are backup.  They rely on a social contract that has been ripped to shreds by massive debt globally. This means that all investments are at risk in ways we cannot know.

In our own business we can do something about the product or service we provide.  We still cannot be certain in business… but in business we can be more certain than in investments where we are not involved.

Third, we invest in what we know…. as often as possible with people we like and trust. Investments beyond business rely on a system, an idea and the people involved. The more you know about the people and the idea… the better.

Next we look for ways to tap the infinite wisdom that is within all people… to connect with that unbounded portion of our being that’s in the cosmic state. We all spring from this infinite source… we are of it.  Our logic just cannot compute infinity in symbolic form.  To try is like processing a terabyte of data with a 16K processor (even worse actually).

We have to find ways to get in touch with our greater intelligence and learn how to see, hear, feel, taste and smell tiny bits of data in ways that our dimwitted brains can use.

We live in an uncertain world. I cannot be totally certain but believe that risk and the unknown are almost guaranteed. However we spring from infinite wisdom and we can let this unbelievably smart stuff we are made of filter through.  We cannot think what pops up in words. We cannot force it to make sense… but we can use tactics like wealth beyond logic tactics Merri and I use to let our innate wisdom direct us so we enjoy 300% of life… health, wealth and fulfillment.

Delegates enjoy coming to our home during the “Quantum Wealth – International Business & Investing Seminars” Here is a group at our North Carolina home.

Yet there is more.  This process helps delegates hear, see and feel the authentic reality of the ideas we share.  We do not spout ivory tower, unattainable theory.  Our seminars share what we do… how we live… and how we have developed our lifestyle. Our mission is to help you see what we do, so you can blend our lessons into a lifestyle that is better… happier… richer…easier for you.

I have never heard of other seminars offering this… an integration of what we speak about with our actual “at home” lifestyle.

Here are the 21 main points we cover in our one day Quantum Wealth Workshop.

#1: Quantum mechanics & frequency how they all connect.

#2: Three aspects of being – air – fire – water… how to balance and integrate them.

#3: Three ways to integrate brain waves and be in the zone… 60 cycle sound… L- theanine and meditation.

#4: The Andean – Indian Connection. How Ayurved and Andean relate.  Three fundamentals of longevity. Eat right, work hard and sleep well. Nutrition, exercise and purpose.

#5: How dis-ease develops and is stopped.

#6: Nutritional goals: Improve digestion, avoid dis-ease here first.

#7: How to use cleansings. Melon, pineapple, apples-grapes, vareshna, chelating, cinnamon-sweet pepper tea, steam and mists.

#8: Teas. How and when to use cedron, chamomile, lemon verbena, peppermint.

#9: Relaxers. How to use chamomile, valerian, lettuce and milk, hot water, vata press.

#10: Fire reducers. How to use peppermint tea, aloe, cream massage, frozen grapes.

#11: Water reducers. How to use cinnamon tea, paprika, cloves, ginger, ginger-black salt and lemon juice.

#12: The power of ritual & routine. When to eat, think, exercise.

#13: How to spot imbalances. Moods, physical signs. pulse testing.

#14: Quantum leap. How energy, colors, organs, glands work together and change every seven years.

#15: Shamanic exercises-yoga, llama walk, lizard, sun salute, crab and mouth release, ring chew, etc.

#16: Deeper Digestion.

#17: How to use the senses, taste, six flavors.

#18: How to use color.

#19: How to use sound.

#2o: How to use essential oils.

#21:  How to gain Super Thinking abilities, increased intelligence and super thinking into our Super Thinking + Spanish for many years but now have added this to our international investing and business seminars to create quantum wealth.

There are at least three simple ways to turn on this super thinking ability:  meditation, listening to 60 cycle music and taking Theanine.
These three steps integrate four categories of brainwaves, ranging from beta waves, the fastest of the four different brainwaves to alpha, theta and the final brainwave state, delta. Delta brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency.  Deep dreamless sleep takes you down to the lowest frequency.

Merri and I meditate twice every day to tap into this energy.

Plus we listen to 60 beat ten cycle classical music as we work. You could count the number of times we have missed our meditation routine in the last 20 years on one hand. This helps us enormously.

When we allow these waves to interconnect freely we gain unimaginable intellect.

This type of music, along with deep breathing exercises for relaxation moves the mind into Alpha and deeper states as well.

Health benefits are gained as blood pressure can drop, heart rates slow and the mind becomes calmed… and you become smarter.  You tap into your higher intelligence and are more likely to have… and  enjoy… success.

A third avenue that helps enhance intelligence is Theanine (chemical name: r-glutamylethylamide) one of the chemicals found in green tea. Theanine is used to reduce stress and anxiety without the tranquilizing effects found in many other calming agents. Scientific evidence shows that Theanine stimulates the brain’s production of alpha waves, making the user feel relaxed but alert and not drowsy. It also helps the body produce other calming amino acids, such as dopamine, GABA, and tryptophan. As might be expected from a calming supplement, Theanine may be able to lower elevated blood pressure as well.

Our Quantum Wealth workshop looks at how to use super thinking to tap into deeper intelligence and what to do with this intelligence in business, investing and life so you improve the way you absorb, retain, recall information and think forever. The one day Quantum Wealth workshop prepares you to gain more from our international investing and business seminars.

This three day course is available in sessions that are 10 to 20 minutes long for easy, convenient learning.   You can listen to each session any time and as often as you desire.

The sooner you hear what I have to say about current markets, the better you’ll be able to cash in on perhaps the best investing opportunity since 1982.

The Power in Sound

There is incredible power in sound.

In fact there is so much power in sound that the power of one sound… Om… is now being researched.

sound-meditation

Photo from Guardian article linked below.

Excerpts from an article in England’s Guardian Newspaper entitled “Improbable research: The repetitive physics of Om” tells us more when it says:

Indian scientists wield sophisticated mathematics to dissect and analyse the traditional meditation chanting sound ‘Om’

Two Indian scientists are wielding sophisticated mathematics to dissect and analyse the traditional meditation chanting sound “Om”. The Om team has published six monographs in academic journals. These plumb certain acoustic subtleties of Om, which these researchers say is “the divine sound”.
Om has many variations. In a study published in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security, the researchers explain: “It may be very fast, several cycles per second. Or it may be slower, several seconds for each cycling of [the] Om mantra. Or it might become extremely slow, with the mmmmmm sound continuing in the mind for much longer periods but still pulsing at that slow rate.

The important technical fact is that no matter what form of Om one chants at whatever speed, there is always a basic Omness to it.

Ajay Anil Gurjar and Siddharth A Ladhake published their first OM paper, Time-Frequency Analysis of Chanting Sanskrit Divine Sound “OM”, in 2008 in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security.

Ladhake is the principal at Sipna’s College of Engineering and Technology in Amravati, India. Gurjar is an assistant professor in that institution’s department of electronics and telecommunication. Both specialise in electronic signal processing.

They now sub-specialise in analysing the one very special signal.

In the introductory paper, Gurjar and Ladhake explain (in case there is someone unaware of the basics): “Om is a spiritual mantra, outstanding to fetch peace and calm. The entire psychological pressure and worldly thoughts are taken away by the chanting of Om mantra.”

No one has explained the biophysical processes that underlie this fetching of calm and taking away of thoughts. Gurjar and Ladhake’s time-frequency analysis is a tiny step along that hitherto little-taken branch of the path of enlightenment.

They apply a mathematical tool called wavelet transforms to a digital recording of a person chanting “Om”.

Merri and I experience the power of sound… every day…  we enjoy the benefits inherent in music and the sound Om.  This is why we developed our Super Thinking plus Spanish and Quantum Wealth courses… to use this power for greater health, wealth and fulfillment… 300% of life.

The power of music (frequencies in tune with the flow of nature) rests in the fact that music can create order out of chaos.

Yehudi Menuhin expressed the power of music in his book “Theme and Variations” this way: Music creates order out of chaos; for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity of the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous.  Thus a confusion surrenders to order and noise to music, and as we through music attain that greater universal order which rests upon fundamental relationships of geometrical and mathematical proportion, direction is supplied to mere repetitious time, power to the multiplication of elements, and purpose to random association.

Sound… as seemingly as simple as OM… can deliver almost unimaginable power.

Many ancient cultures understood that music embodies within its tones, elements of the celestial order that govern the universe.

As in music, so in life. Audible sound, including music manifests from the most fundamentals vibrations that weave the universal tapestry.

One thread that weaves through this blanket of reality is OM.   Long before Western scientists began investigating music and sound in a scientific way, many wise philosophies and sciences were divined from the primal sound… expanding though mathematical grace to the point where an infinite unbounded intelligence could be glimpsed… and even used via the human form.

The Chinese for example believed that the primal sound is present in all things as a divine frequency.  This one unifying vibration then divides into twelve sub frequencies that could be measured.   This realization created astrology… the study of the Cosmic Tone.

Astrology is based on the twelve tomes… each extending a frequency influence everywhere.   This important mathematical study remains in many aspects of modern life… the twelve months of the year… the twenty four hours a day for example.

Many  ancient beliefs about sound… chants… music… are being restated by studies in numerous fields… quantum physics… medical research (see the studies of neurosurgeon Dr. Karl Pribram) and computer sciences as shown above.

What can the power in music do for us?  First, the power in music can help us be healthier.

Merri and I just returned from extensive physical exams and based on heart, lung and various organ capacities we are both said to be nearly 15 years younger biologically than chronologically.

I do not get very caught up in numbers like this but do believe that Merri’s and my substantial energy, enthusiasm and happiness and the fact that we have not needed an MD… or medication for any type of sickness in over 30 years, has a great deal to do with the fact that  we use music extensively to integrate our mind with our body.

For example just listening to certain baroque music can reduce blood pressure and heart beat.

Second, the power in music can help us be wealthier. Again and again, at times when stock markets seem at their best, I have been able to provide readers with investment warnings because I study market frequencies while listening to musical frequencies.  Using music to integrate brain waves and induce more holistic thought about society, economics and markets helps see through the dangerous noise of daily movement to spot upcoming realities.  This ability to defy the common knowledge… outwit trends… and not be swayed by the herd… so we can spot value creates the energy to generate everlasting wealth.

Third, the power in music can make us more intelligent. Actually a better way to describe this is to say that music helps our logic connect with and use the infinite wisdom that we are and already possess.

There is enormous power in sound and it is available to all of us… almost free. We can use sound and music for better health… increased wealth and fulfillment.   We hope that sounds good to you!

Gary

We are offering the power of sound in three ways we call the ABC of power learning:

#B: How to gain Super Thinking abilities, increased intelligence and super thinking into our Super Thinking + Spanish Course for many years but now have added this to our international investing and business seminars to create quantum wealth. This course teaches how to listen to music for more energy, power, intellect better health and everlasting happiness and wealth.

Music helps integrate four categories of brainwaves, ranging from beta waves, the fastest of the four different brainwaves to alpha, theta and the final brainwave state, delta. Delta brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency.  Deep dreamless sleep takes you down to the lowest frequency.

Merri and I listen to 60 beat, ten cycle classical music as we work.  We allow these waves to interconnect freely so gain unimaginable energy and an intellect that goes beyond ourselves as the music relaxes, enhances and opens our intuition.

The right types of music moves the mind into Alpha and even deeper states of knowing.

Health benefits are gained as blood pressure can drop, heart rates slow and the mind becomes calmed… and you become smarter.  You tap into your higher intelligence and are more likely to have… and  enjoy… success.

Super Thinking plus Spanish looks at how to use super thinking to tap into deeper intelligence and what to do with this intelligence in business, investing and life so you improve the way you absorb, retain, recall information and think forever. To prove the point you learn Spanish in just four days.

for more energy, power, intellect better health and everlasting wealth.

Following in the footsteps of Confucius who said:

“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.”

“When music and courtesy are better understood and appreciated, there will be no war.”

We may not be able to end the outside wars.  We can use music to win our inner battles so we reduce stress… live ore happily and succeed regardless of external circumstance.

Leverage Risk

We have looked at leverage multi currency investing in recent messages so I wanted to share my reply to this reader’s question.

Thanks for the info Gary. I would love to attend one of your workshops and would love to learn how to make more dollars. I used to trade in the stock market with put and call options on stocks and currency and lost a lot of money. This has left me  gun shy about “investing”.

Any suggestions of where to start? Regards,

Here is my reply.

We just completed a three day course with Jyske Global Asset Management (JGAM) showing why 80% to 90% of the people who trade futures and options lose all their money.

Those who trade options and/or futures contracts or highly leverage investments are not investing.  They are in the business of speculating.

Here are three simple facts that can help understand the difference between investing and speculating.

The first fact is that really safe investments earn about 3%.

This fact was confirmed by Alan Greenspan in his excellent book, “Age of Turbulence” when he wrote: “A major aspect of human nature-the level of human intelligence-has a great deal to do with how successful we are in gaining the sustenance for survival. As I point out at the end of this book, in economies with cutting-edge technologies, people, on average, seem unable to increase their output per hour at better than 3% percent a year over a protracted period. That is apparently the maximum rate at which human innovation can move standards of living forward. We are apparently not smarter to do better.”

That’s a huge fact to understand about investing.

Overall we should expect the global economy to grow at about 3%.

This gives us a baseline for how much an investment should grow.

If an economy rises faster than 3%, it is distorted. During early stages of excessive growth, investors will be attracted. Shares will rise faster.

If the economy remains robust, shares become overbought. Then watch out! A correction will come.

This leads us to the next fact which is “all investments have risk”.

Rather than wasting time trying to avoid risk…which cannot be done, investors should look at three risk elements instead.

#1: How much risk is there in any particular investment?

#2: What perceptions do the market have of the risk?

#3: What risk premium is due?

Bank accounts and government bonds, for example, are perceived as the safest investments (especially if government guaranteed). A look at their long term history shows that they pay about 3%. So if a bank account or government bond pays less…in the long term it’s bad. If it pays more…that’s better. Yet the idea is that bank accounts will not really make money. They will just keep up with growth…at 3%.

To get real growth requires taking risk. If an investment appears to be less safe it will pay more than 3%. This is called a risk premium.

Bonds pay more than bank accounts because they are perceived to be less safe.

Stocks pay more than bonds because they are perceived even riskier.

Over the long run, bonds issued in countries and currencies perceived to be stable pay 5% to 7%.

Stocks in major countries should pay 7% to 10% annual return in the stock market as a function of global growth, long term earnings growth plus risk premium (above bank accounts and bonds).

Emerging market stocks pay more than major market stocks. Emerging market bonds pay more than major markets bonds.

To attain higher growth than 7 to 10% investors must either increase risk, trust luck or spot distortions.

Investments that are leveraged offer even more profit potential but only at equal increased downside risk.

Finally we come to the third fact. Periods of high performance are followed by times of poor performance… and vice versa.

In the times of global panic that we have seen in recent years, all markets tend to drop.

This is good because the market is almost always wrong. Most investors always try to avoid risk. Most investors dump their wealth into investments that are perceived to be safe. This creates excessive demand and lowers value and actually makes the perception wrong.

Knowing this helps wise investors spot trends created by distortions so they can get higher paying investments without extra risk.

Recently we have looked at several reasons why the recent period of high performance investors have enjoyed in the US equity market may be followed by low performance.

One needs to beware of seasonality.

One needs to beware of the downwards pressure on equities in the upcoming economic cycle.

So if you are an investor and are tempted by the upswing in equity markets to become a speculator… beware.

Gary

I have prepared a new special report “Platinum Dip 2018” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

The Power of Passion in Wealth Building

Turn Your Passion into Profit.

See how to create a PIEC experience for wealth below.

Merri & I attribute most of the business successes we enjoy to the fact that we simply write about what we are doing.  This has worked because what we do has always been have interesting, fulfilling and fun… for us and others as well.

Merri and I feel that pursuing a passion is the key to this success.

For example, we recently had a bit of bad news in our orange groves in the form of some root rot.

We had to call in big machines like… this

to yank out about a third of our trees so our grove that looked like this… now…

business-ideas

looks like this.

That’s farming for you!  Yet we are excited because…

we just sprayed the 1000+ remaining trees…

with…

Bio Wash.  A post at this site The Ultimate Small Business Freedom recently showed how this organic bio-degradable spray can increase yield and sugar content.   We are very excited to be leading in this field because we are passionate about finding ways to grow food that is more sustainable and healthy.  The satisfaction in being able to lead the way with this far outweighs the sense of loss in the uprooted trees.

Our passion goes way beyond just the short term money.  There is a great excitement that comes from being ahead of the curve and on the leading edge.

Warren Buffet, one of the world’s great investors, confirmed this fact when he shared some tips with college students on how to invest. Here are the core points he shared:

  1. Do what you like
  2. Money isn’t everything
  3. Work only with people you like
  4. Buy businesses, not stocks
  5. Invest only in what you understand
  6. Don’t over diversify
  7. Keep looking for new opportunities
  8. Buy businesses you plan to keep for life
  9. Look for businesses that are available at a good price

PIEC Experience

This invaluable information describes perfectly the benefits of having PIEC wealth. PIEC is an acronym for “Personal Income Earning Corridor”. This concept of financial prudence differs greatly from traditional approaches of accumulating wealth.

Traditionally people get jobs to create income. They work to live and support their lifestyle while attempting to spend less than they earn. Maybe the savings will bring, some time in the future, a lifestyle of doing something enjoyable without work.

PIEC investors reverse the priorities. Instead of working for money to save and invest. They focus their prime effort on doing something they enjoy right now. Then they learn how to enjoy the effort in some profitable way. They learn to create “Avenues of Abundance” that combine lifestyle with the necessary task of accumulating wealth.

For example, if a PIEC investor loves golf; instead of working six days a week, 50 weeks a year just to golf on Sundays and during short vacations, instead he’ll create a business in some aspect of the golfing trade.

In another example, a client of mine, who loved animals became a vet. But he learned that the vet’s lifestyle was not one he enjoyed. He wanted to travel and move around, which is difficult for a professional who needs to stay at his office and build a practice. So he built a business that prepares special animal foods for race horses. Now he travels globally visiting horse breeders and makes much more money as well.

PIEC investors combine money with time, energy and desires. They generate income doing something desired. Desire and fulfillment become at least as, if not more, important as the money.

Do What You Love!

The reason PIEC investing works well is that when we love to do something, we do it better, for longer and with greater enthusiasm.

These are wealth building attributes that cannot fail. Yet PIEC investing does not mean we should suddenly abandon our jobs and try becoming golf pros, when we have never been able to break 100. Smart PIECS often require a gradual approach.

For example, as a writer and lecturer, I was never fully satisfied sitting behind a desk or standing on a podium all day long, even though I was making over a million bucks a year. I’m the physical, outdoors type and yearned for exercise and the wilds of the deep woods. “What good’s the money if this isn’t fun?” I often asked myself.

Rather than quit writing and teaching, I looked for ways to combine these professions with the outdoor life. Through research I learned that many city folk like myself yearn to be in the primitive outdoors. So I bought an isolated farm high in the Blue Ridge Mountains and an Andean plantation high in Ecuador where we have developed seminar centers with charming but simple dwellings, set in rustic surroundings, with clean water and pure air. Now I can teach in a primitive setting and after I finish the writing or talking, I run up into the woods with an axe and clear another cabin site or something physical like that. I’ve combined my writing with physical work and have blended the life I want, with my readers’ needs in a way that makes great financial sense. The cabins are projected to bring more profits than most stocks or bonds could ever return.

The process took years to shift and we are far from finished. But while I’m doing what I love, who cares? This is one of the great benefits of PIEC investing. We can slow down and enjoy the work instead of always rushing ahead, looking for something more.

Those who work nine to five can start PIEC businesses part time if they are too uneasy to quit their jobs. Others, who like myself, already have a business can slowly shift their product or service in a sensible way and let it evolve toward their PIEC.

But where do we start?

There is a seven step process we can all use whether we have our own careers, a business or even if we are retired (PIEC investing is especially good for retirees who have found the supposed good life flat or financially short).

The first step is to get a clear idea or vision of our dream. This is sometimes harder to achieve than it seems. We are so deluged with false ideals from Washington, Wall Street, Madison Avenue, etc. that we have to stop and really take stock.

There is a very practical economic reason to look inward for wealth. Warren Buffet recommends that we only invest in what we understand. What can we understand better than ourselves?

This inner search will lead us to an ideal that begins the second step which is gaining enthusiasm. How can we be anything but enthusiastic about finally fulfilling our deepest dreams? The enthusiasm leads to the third step; gaining an education.

We need to find out everything we can about our idea.  To succeed we must become real experts in the product or service we offer.

Fourth, this educational process allows us to develop an intelligent, focused business plan we can act upon and the action is the fifth step which brings us the experience. Experience gives us the sixth step, a financial loss or profit. Remember we always profit in increased knowledge which creates the seventh step, more ideas. Then the entire cycle starts all over again: Idea, Enthusiasm, Education, Action, Experience, Financial Profit and New Ideas.

This is a way to follow Warren Buffet’s advice to keep looking for new opportunities. Business is rarely static. It is an ever evolving process instead.

This seven step cycle may take days, weeks, months or years, but the moment you begin you’ll start moving into an avenue of affluence where you love your work so though money isn’t your main goal it comes more easily.

The Building of Wealth

The building of wealth becomes a fulfilling, enjoyable process of service. Great financial rewards are an extra benefit rather than ultimate goals. Worries about money become less dominant and we gain an inherent power because we want to work harder and longer. We don’t need to search (and spend) so much for fulfillment and are more likely to excel financially.

Knowing ourselves also helps begin a business with a most powerful business tool I call the Golden Rule of Simplicity. This rule says there are millions of people just like us. When we truly see ourselves we look into a mirror that reflects an entire market who feel and desire just as we do. This is a simple rule yet gives us a finely tuned market research system which shows us how to get create our product, get in touch with our market, deliver the product or service, etc.

Self-knowledge is also essential for comfort, and comfort is a vital part of everlasting wealth. When investors are not comfortable, no profit is enough. Uncomfortable investors have a never-ending thirst for more that cannot be quenched. This indefatigable desire gums up the money making process. Amounts don’t matter. Even investors with incredible assets suffer this never-ending lust. A well documented example is Bunker Hunt’s huge losses when he speculated in silver. He had hundreds of millions yet speculated it all to make even more. When is hundreds of millions not enough?

Three Layer Financial Plan

PIEC business does not mean you should put all your money in just your own business (though at times you may). Diversification is always good. PIEC diversification again departs from the financial planning norm.

PIEC portfolios come in three layers, first the business, then a layer of very safe investments over a third, much smaller layer of speculative deals.

The majority of PIEC diversification should be in stodgy, liquid investments such as utilities, CDs and bonds. These investments might pay little in the short term, but are safe and they are highly liquid at a known price. The low return on these investments is acceptable because they support your PIEC business which makes profits like few other investments can. These very safe investments act as reserves if your business hits a sticky patch and can provide ready finance if sudden business opportunities arise. They also don’t take up much time in research, accounting, watching the market, etc. so you can devote your energy doing what you love (your business) instead.

However, if you genuinely love researching and tracking the market and have the mentality, capital and experience for it, just being an investor can be a wonderful PIEC business in itself.

The third layer of diversification can be speculative because modern portfolio theory suggests that safe investments are enhanced and made safer by adding a small amount of higher risk deals. This also allows us to fulfill any casino mentality we might have left if having our own business is not enough.

PIEC investing makes it easier to create and keep wealth. It enhances our lifestyles now, because it lets us make money being who we really are. It makes life more fulfilling and fun.

Invest in Growth & Good

Here is an idea I gained about investing in growth and good at a Jyske Bank seminar .

investment-seminar

I’ll be speaking at Jyske’s Laguna Beach, CA seminar this Friday and Saturday.  To meet me, and see more about this seminar click here.

One of the speakers a number of years ago was Rolf Jensen, author of the “Dream Society”.  His was an exciting speech and Jensen’s book has been on my core reading list for years.

Jensen is a futurist, the chief imagination officer of the Dream Company which he founded after being the manager of the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies from 1988.  The ideas expressed in the Dream Society have influenced my thinking a lot.

Jensen began his speech with a global overview.

* There are 6.6 billion people in the world.
* The global economy grew 5% last year.
* Emerging economies are catching up.
* Mature economies are growing only 2.3% each year.
* 1 billion people live on a dollar a day. 2.5 billion live on two dollars a day.

This thinking shows the huge problem in helping the poor and reinforced the opinion so often stated in our messages, “there is great opportunity in emerging markets”.  Huge problems create huge opportunities.

Jensen then expanded his global view.

* $50 billion would buy Kenya for a year.
* 20% of all merchandise that is manufactured passes a border.
* 70% of the world’s population watch TV.
* 40% of the world’s population has a cell phone.
* 15% of the world’s population has access to the internet.
* 50 million people visit websites.

That reminded me how much I gave up when I shifted to a website only business.  Yet his next comment outlined the correct direction we took when we moved to a value oriented philosophy in our messages on life, business and investing.  He stated that markets are having a great transformation to value:

* Markets are shifting toward post materialistic values.
* Markets in the industrial revolution have shifted from demanding things to knowledge and are shifting to wanting experiences.
* Markets are shifting from materialistic needs to emotional needs.
* Love-friendship-control-freedom-tradition-change-big answers-recognition and care are emotional needs that create expanding demand.

The next generation is transferring this transformation into five ways of action which include:

* Adding more diversity.
* Having more involvement.
* Increasing globalization.
* Feeling better.
* Enjoying more passion.

The first transformation is added diversity.

* Every customer becomes special.
* Every employee becomes special.
* Nobody is seen as normal. Everyone is special.
* Organizations will have a flatter hierarchy. The top will be connected with the floor. Management with staff. Workers with clients.  Server with user.
* This will end mass marketing. There will be smaller but more focused brands. This can be seen in the cola wars, the way micro breweries develop and Nike IDs it users.
* We will not watch TV ads.

The second transformation will be increased involvement.

* Marketing of products will shift from advertising to customers and workers becoming more involved in  marketing via word of mouth and one to one.

* Customers will become salesmen and ambassadors.

Jensen also talked about the importance of authenticity.

* The customer is becoming smarter.
* The customer is becoming more cynical and has more information.
* Traditional ads no longer work.
* Real stories work.

He asked, what is a good story?

* One with authenticity, meaning and roots.
* One true to the heart.
* One with conflict.
* One with passion.

He outlined how small, passionate companies gain an edge and how good big companies will decentralize.  He also pointed out that successful companies will not advertise but will let the passion of the business pass through the workers and customers.

The fourth transformation is increased globalization.

* World trade is growing at 10% per annum while world GDP grows at 5%.
* Global trade grows but un-globalized values also grow.
* Values change much slower than GDP.
* There is more growth in local brands than global and small brands than big.

Finally Jensen also outlined the importance of the “feel well” transformation that creates care and wellness markets.

* Body and mind is an emerging market.
* Physical health, fitness and botox grow.
* Mental health, retreats and spas expand.
* The health of the planet becomes more important.
* There is a shift of emphasis from GDP to GWB  (General Wellness Barometer Happiness Factor)

I especially agreed when Jensen said that one transformation will be a shift towards increased passion in business. Our site has looked at how to turn your passion into profit for decades!  See https://www.garyascott.com/archives/2000/02/02/55/index.html

Rolf ended his speech with this wise quote:  “If you feel the future as a headwind, then you are walking in the wrong direction”.

That’s really good advice!

Though we invest in good, we also recognize and create protection from the bad as well. See Ecuador murder.

Tax Angles & Quantum Wealth

A reader asked the question about tax angles and the question led to thoughts about quantum wealth.

Yesterday’s message Quantum Wealth Evolution pointed out that when we do what we love we enjoy greater success.

Having tax efficiency is a big part of quantum wealth.

Below is one of the best ways to earn and legally avoid tax.

First, the reader’s question.

Dear Gary,  May I ask your opinion?

It used to be that owning income real estate in the US was the best tax shelter, unless one owned a business.

What, in your opinion, is the best type of investment today that provides a dependable income and a tax shelter? (if I can find the right investment type, I need to boost my income by ~ $1000 per month and yet have it shelter most, if not all, of this increase in income)

Thank you very much.

I’ll answer the tax question in a moment.  First, let’s outline the history behind the answer.

Recently a friend, Don Mahoney, sent me this note. Don, Merri and I go way back… over 20 years.  We do not see each other very often.  It’s funny.  Our paths seem to always narrowly miss… yet we always seem to be on the same track.

Don wrote:

Might I beg a favor?

Dear Family and Friends,

I have embarked on a very challenging journey and would like to ask your help. I’ve bought a house in upstate New York. It’s a historic house, known as The Andrew Mann Inn in the Town of Unadilla, New York, in Otsego County, on the Susquehanna River. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built around 1795 by an architect named James DeCalvin, it was designed to be an inn to serve the Catskill Turnpike, which terminated in Unadilla. Apparently it was one of the first homes built in the area.

The reason I’m asking for help is that the house is now in utter disrepair, and if nothing is done within one or two more years it will be beyond saving. Some parts of it are already beginning to collapse. Some parts are even unsafe. I figure it will take a good three to five years and a few hundred thousand dollars to renovate it. The banks won’t loan on it and there is virtually no state or federal money available (wonder why?). So I’ll have to pay cash on the barrelhead for every nail.

So I decided I’m not too proud to ask for help. Whatever I get I get. The local media has said they’ll cover it when I get up there from Florida, so I’ll probably get a little support from the area. It’s a magnificent building, and dates almost to the Revolutionary War. I invite you to take a look at the website, and if you’re in the area, dew drop inn. My friend, Cuban artist Frank Monteavaro, is coming up to help, so he’ll be in the West wing with a working studio. He does everything from painting to sculpture, so it should be interesting. I may set up a little coffee shop while we’re there, too.
Anyway, if you can help with $5 or $10, it’s only a minute to put it through the website, and it goes straight into the house fund.

The whole story and photos are on the website, so drop in and take a look. It used to sit on the main route west from Catskill and Albany. At one point it was the frontier, until development went past it. You can almost hear the horses and wagons that used to pull up there. Ghosts still dancing the minuet in the ballroom.

Thanks for reading, thanks for looking if you do, and many thanks if you donate a couple of dollars. You’ll be helping to put some local craftsmen to work, so they thank you too!  All help is welcome, all media is welcome.

Thanks again and best wishes,

Donald Mahoney and family

My reply to Don gets down to the essence of quantum wealth… doing what you love… and being tax efficient.  This provides the perfect answer for the reader who wants to reduce tax and earn an extra $1,000 a month.

I replied:

Don,

Way to go!  You are as crazy as I am.  And it seems we keep moving along similar tracks.  Can’t resist old places. We have seminars in them… the old Bel Mido in Tampa… Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock…  Mt. Washington Hotel in New Hampshire are a few. Now we have our Florida seminars in the Lakeside Inn… built and in operation since 1860… a record.

Some delegates hate this… the mustiness and creaky boards.

Yet we cannot get enough of it… restoring the history.

We are currently redoing a big old place… (not so old as yours) in Umatilla, Florida. We have done this all our lives.

I was originally hooked when I bought this old manor house called Forwood near Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire.

small-town-USA

Princess Anne was our next door neighbor at Gatcombe Park. She nearly killed me one day. I was jogging She was riding. There was a blind corner.  Construction there began in the 1500s and ran into Victorian… what a mishmash.  And the cost of Cotswold Stone for the roof. Ahhhh!

Then we redid a 100 year old house in Naples, Florida…. one of the first ten built there.

smalltown-usa

We lived there and fixed slowly almost 20 years.

Then two old Blue Ridge farm houses…

small-town-USA

on a creek. We still have this one.
small-town-usa

that emerged from this.
smalltown-usa

The crown jewel though has been the 180 year old colonial hotel in Cotacachi, Ecuador.

ecuador-fixer-upper

This is going strong and profitable…

You would have thought that would be enough but… no… we are doing it again… restoring a 16 acre estate… orange grove and all…we are beginning to look really good here now…

small-town-usa

in central Florida.  This one is not so old… but was a wreck anyhow.

small-town-usa

Sometimes we cannot understand ourselves!  Doing these crazy things but an old friend once wrote to me and explained when I told him about our latest restoration venture: “I love the metaphor. It echoes your and Merri’s stated love of old things and bringing them into service!”

Maybe that’s it… bring old things back into service… old houses. ancient knowledge about better living… even old hotels to live better in.  There is a bug… more than a cockroach… in our bonnet somewhere.  Plus it is fun and pays its way as well.

Anyway, there you have it… we have old places in North Carolina, Florida and Ecuador right now…. all brought from wrack and ruin to serving quite well.

Yours is a worthy cause and I’ll write about this if you like in our Smalltown USA focus.  We have a over 20,000 readers so perhaps it’ll help.

Any ideas on what to say and coordination welcome.

Regards,

Gary

Merri and I love fixing up old places… finding good bones… restoring the flesh and adding our touch. Obviously Don Mahoney does as well.  This is a great way to earn extra income if you love real estate and bring old things back into service.

And the US government in its infinite wisdom has made the process of doing this tax free.

I have told each of my children… if they love the idea that the most tax efficient way to live is to buy an old house… live in it and fix it.. then sell it after two years.  Capital gains (up to $250,000) on your residence is tax free.  Where else can you earn $125,000 a year and not owe a penny of income or capital gains tax?

A variation in the theme is to do as we have done in Ecuador. Buy an old hotel or B&B… live in it… fix it up and rent.  You have some tax to pay then… but  not that much.

There are three keys in the beautiful melody of this theme… love…  value and tax savings.

If you love fixing up… there are incredible values on the real estate market now. It is difficult to sell new homes in good shape… much less places with problems.  You get extra low prices and yet can increase value dramatically with your energy and a can of paint!  Few outlays bring as much return on investment as a small… a few bucks a gallon… investment in Sherwin Williams, Behr or Valspar.

The tax benefits are a great added bonus.

Flexibility is another big benefit for those of us who love to be fixer uppers. Here we are…Merri and me… in our North Carolina heaven… our Florida lakeside grove and in Ecuador in the mountains and on the sea.  You can do what you love and earn… tax free or on a low tax basis almost anywhere!

See more about this idea in Ecuador.

Real estate in Ecuador can also offer tax advantages. See a Mindo Ecuador house for sale here.

I have prepared a new special report “Platinum Dip 2018” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

Quantum Wealth Evolution

Do what you love… have fun.  The money will come. This is the way of the Quantum Wealth Evolution.

To have fun though you have to first of all know thyself because there are two types of investors who evolve from our quantum theory of investing….the settlers and the pioneers…and a bit more.

Viewing spring at dawn from the front porch of one of our original North Carolina farm houses kind of exemplifies the importance of adaptation and evolution in investing.

small-town-usa

Comfort is one of the most important aspects of successful investing. If we make investments not in keeping with our nature, we will not be comfortable.  Without comfort, we are more likely to second guess and screw up. Restlessness and worry reduce the joy of affluence and reduce investing effectiveness as well.

All of us need to invest in things and do business that we feel is right… that is fun.

For example when Merri and I moved out here to our farm, many of our friends thought we were nuts.  Not only has this country living added years to our life, it is probably the best investment we ever made.  Every year, the move feels more correct, especially at this time of the year when we have scenes around the farm like this.

fun-business

Living deep in the Blue Ridge might not seem like a  logical place to learn about international investing, but being in nature like this gives me perspective.

fun-business

Spring shot from our front patio.

I learn more about change and adaption by contemplating the green spring eruption in the forest like this than reading a day’s worth of financial reports…especially in hectic times of turmoil…

fun-business

The trees says, “Who cares if the stock market is down.  “It’s spring.  Time to wake up!”

Lance Armstrong summed this idea up in a Time magazine article when asked about who to listen to about what to do in life when he said: “The important thing is to go around (collect data-get information). Then you really start to weigh your options. Which one feels right? It may not be the right decision, but it’s what makes you feel right.”

This understanding is vital in life, investing and business.

Know yourself.

Know that ultimately you must make decisions for yourself.  Know that you can’t know everything. Know that not every decision will be right in that it brings a profit, but also know that if each investment you make whether in time, money or energy feels right for you, you are likely to improve your odds of success.

Answering, “Who am I?” is complicated but easier to understand when we realize that most people fall into one of six categories:

#1: Innovators

#2: Early Adapters

#3: Early Majority

#4: Late Majority

#5: Deliberate Skeptical Mass

#6: Laggards

(I advise everyone to read and study all of Malcolm Gladwell’s books…these genius ideas are from The Tipping Point.)

To understand this better let’s look at a study of a “diffusion model” from an analysis of the spread of hybrid seed corn introduced in Greene County Iowa in the 1930s. The hybrid seed which was superior in every way to the commonly used seed was first introduced in 1928.

Of the 259 farmers only a couple planted the seed the first year and through 1933.

In 1934 16 used the seed.

In 1935 21 more, then 36 more and in 1938 the number increased by 61.

The years after 46, 36, 14 and then 3 started using the seed. In 1941 all but two farmers were using the seed.

Of the 259, the innovators were the first handful that began.

The small numbers that then jumped on the band wagon from 1929 to 1933 were the early adapters.

The early and late majority began using the seed in 1936 to 1938.

The late and skeptical mass did not try it until after the most respected farmers had proven its worth.

The laggards never did make the shift or waited till much later.

This diffusion is quite typical of all things. One could study the use of faxes, cell phones, computers, etc. and see a similar diffusion.

What type are you? The type is not important. None is better than another.

Knowing what you are is the key because each category has a way of investing that can succeed if it is true to itself.

Suit yourself if you really want success…and then be willing to adapt to change in a way that feels right for you.

Charles Darwin expressed great wisdom when he said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

Whether you are an early adapter who invests now while the market is falling in alternative investments, or a laggard who holds back his or her cash and waits…do what feels right to you.

Stick to the basics.  Always look for good value. Do not let fear OR greed tempt you to do something that does not feel right to you just because everyone else does.  Remember truth is not created by the continuous repetition of an error.  The majority of investors and businesses that start in most markets are wrong most of the time so you cannot depend on following the masses.

If everyone seems panicked and is selling, but it feels right for you to buy…and you have value reason for doing so…and that makes sense to you…then, do it!  Likewise if the market is screaming up and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon..yet you have reasons that makes sense to you to sell…do it.

Know yourself.   Do what feels right for you.  Always seek good value.  This is a formula that will rarely lose.

Until next message, may your feeling right never be left behind.

See how earning in Ecuador is fun!
