We have to take our health in our own hands because the establishment keeps changing the story.

For example, the New York Times article “What We Know About Diet and Weight Loss” (1) shows how continued research on dieting continues to create confusion on how to keep weight under control.

The articles says: After decades of research, there are shockingly few firm conclusions.

You’d think that scientists at an international conference on obesity would know by now which diet is best, and why. As it turns out, even the experts still have widely divergent opinions.

At a recent meeting of the Obesity Society, organizers held a symposium during which two leading scientists presented the somewhat contradictory findings of two high-profile diet studies. A moderator tried to sort things out.

In one study, by Christopher Gardner, a professor of medicine at Stanford, patients were given low-fat or low-carb diets with the same amount of calories. After a year, weight loss was the same in each group, Dr. Gardner reported.

Another study, by Dr. David Ludwig of Boston Children’s Hospital, reported that a low-carbohydrate diet was better than a high-carbohydrate diet in helping subjects keep weight off after they had dieted and lost. The low-carbohydrate diet, he found, enabled participants to burn about 200 extra calories a day.

So does a low-carbohydrate diet help people burn more calories? Or is the composition of the diet irrelevant if the calories are the same? Does it matter if the question is how to lose weight or how to keep it off? There was no consensus at the end of the session.

I was overweight, the first 21 years of my life and tried every diet known to man…  protein only, low carb, watermelon only,  lots of water, calorie restricted.  You name it, I tried it.

Then I figured out what works for me and have remained stable in the 150 pound range for decades.  Yet I cannot tell you what will work for you.

People vary in how they respond to food…  a lot!

Some people thrive on low-fat diets, others do best on low-carb diets. Still others succeed with gluten-free diets or Paleo diets or periodic fasts or ketogenic diets or other options on the seemingly endless menu of weight-loss plans.

Most studies show that calorie intake is the key, but this is not always the case.

We cannot just blame sugar either.

Western countries get more calories from starchy foods than from sugar.  In Australia, people have been cutting back on added sugars since the 1990s even as the population has grown steadily fatter.

There is nothing new in the diet universe.   For example, low-carbohydrate diets were introduced by a London undertaker, William Banting, in 1863 and became so popular that one word for dieting was “banting”.  The diets people swear by today have been around in various forms for decades, even centuries.

       Eat the diet you like and stay with it.   Simply figure out the calories and keep them down.  Controlling caloric intake is hard enough.  If you throw in the frustration of eating what you don’t like, the problem is worse.

Many public health experts agree that low processed foods, that include a fair proportion of fruits and vegetables are healthier.  They also agree that people with diabetes or high blood sugar levels often benefit from a diet low in carbohydrates.

Diets for weight loss are not always healthy.  I have tried this type of diet too many times to think about and always failed because I like bread way too much.  An article at WEBMD.com “High-Protein, Low-Carb Diets Explained” (2) shows how low-carb diets work.

Normally your body burns carbohydrates for fuel. When you drastically cut carbs, the body goes into a metabolic state called ketosis, and it begins to burn its own fat for fuel.  When your fat stores become a primary energy source, you may lose weight.

Prolonged bouts of ketosis can diminish good natural health and create problems including:

• High cholesterol. Some protein sources — like fatty cuts of meat, whole dairy products, and other high-fat foods — can raise cholesterol, increasing your chance of heart disease. However, studies showed that people on the Atkins diet for up to 2 years actually had decreased “bad” cholesterol levels.

• Kidney problems. If you have any kidney problems, eating too much protein puts added strain on your kidneys. This could worsen kidney function.

• Osteoporosis and kidney stones. When you’re on a high-protein diet, you may urinate more calcium than normal. There are conflicting reports, but some experts think this could make osteoporosis and kidney stones more likely.

Here are seven tips, learned from Andean shamans and Indian Vidyas, that I have learned work for me.  These promote good health and help keep weight in check.

Make food as digestible as you can.  Eat it slowly… chew a lot.

Don’t mix fats… have just one type fat per meal.  Don’t mix sugar and salt

Make each meal either sweet or savory.

Eat only on an empty stomach… at least four hours apart.

Eat biggest meal at noon.

Sleep on an empty stomach.

Favor alkaline foods.

Don’t mix foods in a four hour period that you would not eat together.  For example. you probably wouldn’t have pizza and orange juice at one time.  Don’t start the meal with orange juice and later have pizza in the same meal or within four hours.

A recent article in USA Today, “As obesity’s link to COVID-19 grows, one family that lost 24-year-old daughter diets together” (1) tells the tale.

The article says:  The parents and two brothers of Silvia Deyanira Melendez, 24, are all in therapy after losing their daughter and sister to COVID-19 on March 28.  She weighed more than 300 pounds with a body mass index of 60, double the BMI considered obese. This most likely contributed heavily to her Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and a heart condition that required open-heart surgery two years ago.

The chronic conditions that increase the risk of serious illness and death of COVID-19 are now well known: diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and being older than 65. Obesity is less well known or understood. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention groups “severe obesity,” defined as having a BMI of 40 or higher, with the other known “risk factors for serious illness” for COVID-19.

A growing number of studies and data on COVID-19 deaths confirm the link. The extra weight on people in the 40-plus BMI range who contract COVID-19 increases the chance they will require hospitalization, most likely in the intensive care unit. It also hampers the ability of physicians to treat them, especially with ventilators, doctors say.

Body fat complicates many health problems.   For example more than 100 studies have found that physical activity can lower cancer risk and even help cure cancer.  Fortunately researchers asked why and one answer became clear. Body fat.

Studies showed that reduced body fat creates  a 25% lower chance of developing cancer.

Fortunately there is a little known way to reduce body fat that does not even require exercise.? I’ll share more on this secret in a moment.

First, body fat, COVID-19 and cancer? Let’s ask why?

Part of the answer is toxicity.

Healthy bodies naturally and regularly remove water-soluble toxins from the body. Our blood and kidneys flush them away.

Fat-soluble toxins such as metals, pesticides, preservatives, other pollutants are harder to flush out of the system. Fat-soluble toxins must become water-soluble before the body can get rid of them. The liver can do this conversion (bile emulsifies fat-souble toxins into water-soluble). This process requires healthy digestive and detox pathways. When they become imbalanced, fat-soluble toxins are stored in fat cells and brain cells instead. These toxins can remain for decades and create health problems.

The fat stored toxins cause oxidation (free radical damage) and degeneration as well as mutation. Toxins in the fatty tissue of the brain become neurotoxins that can cause cognitive problems and a host of mental and brain imbalances.

When you burn fat you turn on the body’s detox fuel.  Fat metabolism is the body’s natural form of energy. Passion and Proof of the Pudding


There are so much corruption, cheating and misrepresentations in the world.  Too many businesses, bureaus, governments and agencies use spin, rather than truth, to sell.   Not this man. See below why he gives us three valuable lessons.

The fraud that permeates every aspect of global society is a huge problem.  To be skeptical of law enforcement, national security, education, banking, medicine, science, religion, the media, big business and government is correct.  So many institutions are impregnated with deceit.  Short term goals that enrich the institution rather than individual pervade society.  The rich get richer while the middle class becomes poor.   This is a great problem and hence a huge opportunity.

The knife that cuts through the growing global cynicism is passion.  Passion that bucks the establishment creates truthful, fulfilling, healthy and profitable lifestyles.

The NYT article “Fred Kummerow, A Lifelong Fight Against Trans Fats” (1) by Melanie Warner says:  In 1957, Fred Kummerow a fledgling nutrition scientist at the University of Illinois persuaded a hospital to give him samples of arteries from patients who had died of heart attacks.

When he analyzed them, he made a startling discovery. Not surprisingly, the diseased arteries were filled with fat — but it was a specific kind of fat. The artificial fatty acids called trans fats, which come from the hydrogen-treated oils used in processed foods like margarine, had crowded out other types of fatty acids.

He became a pioneer of trans-fat research, one of the first scientists to assert a link between heart disease and processed foods.

The article tells how Dr. Kummerow is still active at age 99, living a few blocks from the university, where he runs a small laboratory.   He continues to offer contrarian conclusions about fat and heart disease.

In the past two years, he has published four papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, two of them devoted to another major culprit he has singled out as responsible for atherosclerosis, or the hardening of the arteries: an excess of polyunsaturated vegetable oils like soybean, corn and sunflower — exactly the types of fats Americans have been urged to consume for the past several decades.

The problem, he says, is not LDL, the “bad cholesterol” widely considered to be the major cause of heart disease. What matters is whether the cholesterol and fat residing in those LDL particles have been oxidized.

His conclusion is controversial because he says that that the saturated fat in butter, cheese and meats does not contribute to the clogging of arteries. He believes they help natural health in moderate amounts when combined with a healthy diet that includes fruit, vegetables, whole grain and other fresh, unprocessed food.

He is passionate about this research and his active life at age 99 is proof of the pudding. As they say, the proof is in the eating and he eats red meat several times a week and drinks whole milk daily.

He avoids deep fried food and margarine.  He scrambles his eggs in butter every morning and since the 1970s has called eggs one of nature’s most perfect foods.

“Eggs have all of the nine amino acids you need to build cells, plus important vitamins and minerals,” he said. “It’s crazy to just eat egg whites. Not a good practice at all.”

His research has been disputed and resisted numerous times.   He has had great difficulty getting funding because the heart disease prevention world strongly resisted his ideas.  Yet for over 60 years, he never stepped away from his passion to find truth and share it with the world and as he turns 100 years old, continues to work from home and talk daily to the two scientists who work in his lab.

The article says: He takes no medications, and his mind shows no sign of aging: He has an encyclopedic recall for names, dates and, more impressive, complex scientific concepts. After his muscles became inflamed from a blood pressure drug that he has since stopped taking, he started using a wheelchair combined with a walker.

His passion is that he really wants to see the use of trans fats eradicated. He wants to help people eat better and have a more accurate understanding of what really causes heart disease.

The webinar assumes that you can use a computer connected to the Internet. You can already do that as you signed-up for updates about this webinar. That’s about as technical as it gets. However, normally you’d need to also set up the web hosting and WordPress itself along with the recommended additions to WordPress (“plugins”) that David recommends, to get the most out of the webinar.

David can provide a list of all you will need, the plugins, etc. and you can do that yourself, and set it all up for yourself if you wish. But if you want David to set everything up for you, and avoid all the technical stuff and configuration, we’ve worked out a way that I can do this at no additional cost to you and provide full details once you sign up.
