Pinnacle Export Career

Exporting can provide an excellent pinnacle career.

Pinnacle careers are the ones that fill your destiny.  For many such careers mean a move… travel beyond borders… broader horizons and greater freedom.

The export business creates such a lifestyle and career.

Consider this idea for exporting Ecuador oranges.

ecuador-oranges

Ecuador oranges at Cotacachi market.  Some Ecuador oranges are green and all oranges can be golden.

A recent article entitled Ecuador: “Producers of citrus fruits will start exporting” started me thinking about how we can put two and two together and come up with more than four.

Consider three facts.

First, The US orange production is under pressure.  The spread of Citrus greening is now in every Florida citrus county and production costs are at their higher level ever.  Increased citrus imports to the USA could result.

Second, Ecuador is cranking up its citrus production.  The article “Producers of citrus fruits will start exporting” says: A citrus processing factory, which is expected to hold northern production and promote its sale abroad, will start operating in two months.

Investors in Spain and France sponsor the close to $5 million dollar project.

The construction and commissioning of the factory was the result of a field study, which identified the need for a place to process the high production of tangerines and oranges in the states of Chone, Flavio Alfaro and El Carmen, among others.

Jaminton Intriago, Mayor of Flavio Alfaro and one of the owners of the factory, said that they were making the final adjustments to the implements responsible for processing, canning and extracting the fruit’s juices to be exported to Europe.

“Everything is ready and we’ll start the testing phase in the coming days so that, when everything is ready, nothing will stop work. We needed a company that added value to citrus production in Manabi,” said Intriago.

The factory will employ more than 300 people, considering that the machinery is able to operate 24 hours.

The National Finance Corporation loaned the money to fund the project. “The objective is to consolidate ourselves at the national level with this innovative company and to take advantage of the production in the North,” said Intriago.

Third,  there is a little known way to economically enhance citrus production with Biowash.

We have written about our use of Biowash in our groves but let me reiterate what this has done for our orange crop.

The year we took over the grove there were 1,500 trees and they produced 1801 boxes of oranges.

In other words, the average was a yield of about 1.2 boxes of naval oranges a tree.

We removed one third of the lower producing diseased trees in a grove management plan. We sprayed the remaining 2/3rd with Bio Wash.

Our first year of production the average yield was 2.4 boxes a tree… double.   This increased the income of the grove 37% with 33% less trees.

With 500 fewer trees, the grove produced 2,484 boxes of oranges that year!  That’s doubled production but this was to get even  better.

We doubled the Biowash spray in 2011 and production rose to 3,393 boxes.

Last year we decided to do some more serious tests.

gary-scott-orange-tests

We tested Biowash.

There is more to this than just the increased yield. Biowash might make the crop more valuable.

Some products using Biowash have become known as “pesticide free” and/or “reduced fertilized”.

I believe that pesticide free” or “reduced fertilized” oranges may be worth more so I began testing in our orange grove.   Last June my grandson, Garren, and I loaded up the Cub Cadet with flagging ribbon… went out into our orange grove and set up four test zones… each at an opposite extreme from one another.

gary-scott-orange-tests

Garren helping me set up our tests.

In each zone we selected sick, healthy and new trees.

L1010805

A sick tree in our grove flagged yellow.

L1010804

A healthy tree and…

L1010806

new orange trees.

Plus I had three grapefruit trees that all appeared a little sick and sprayed one with bio wash, one soil amendment and did not spray one.

Our goal is to produce bigger… healthier oranges in a process that requires less fertilizer and little or no pesticides.  Here are the results after six months.

At the beginning of the experiment we poked holes around each tree and drenched the roots.   Each tree was drenched with 25 gallons of a solution mixed from  10 ounces of Bio Wash or Soil Amendment to 40 gallons of water.   We then sprayed each tree once a month with about ten gallons per tree sprayed.

Here are the first results.

#1: The young growing trees looked about equal to the best non sprayed young trees.

The positive I can say here is that all the young sprayed trees were at the top of the growth range.  There were some non sprayed trees. This was not so with the sprayed trees. They had all enjoyed strong growth.

#2: I could not see much difference in mature fruit bearing trees.

If anything the sprayed trees looked fuller but with less fruit.

#3: Of the three grapefruit trees the bio washed tree was definitely best.

Gary Scott bio wash

The pictures do not show this well, but the non sprayed grapefruit fruit was small, the leaves spotted and tending toward yellow.

Gary Scott bio wash

The sprayed grapefruit trees were greener, had much larger fruit and a black mold that gets on the fruit was absent.

#4: The sick and nearly dead trees showed the most profound change.

Gary Scott bio wash

Most of the sick trees looked dead like this when we began the test.

Some truly were dead and remained looking that way.

Some had a little growth.

Some had a lot of growth like this.

Gary Scott bio wash

Some even had fruit.

Gary Scott bio wash

This tree looked like a dead stump last June.

Gary Scott bio wash

We maintained the level of spray and in 2012 production with the Biowash spray was about the same as 2011 2,934 boxes.  This minor variation suggests that the good results from the spray are lasting.

You can tie these three facts… US citrus problems… Ecuador’s fledgling citrus exports and the agri benefit of Biowash as an export idea.

Biowash is available in Ecuador and there is a new distributor.

Ted Tidwell who makes Biowash recently wrote:  Gary, Carlos Harris now has a good supply of Biowash and Purelygreen in Ecuador.

Seven P Secrets of Self Publishing

When you write, you can work anywhere.

gary-scott-image

Here I am working poolside in the winter, at our Florida farm.

gary scott

Here I am with our hound Ma, working during the summer at our North Carolina farm.

Learn how to earn everywhere, while living anywhere you choose.  I have been able to earn by writing in Hong Kong, England, the Isle of Man, Dominican Republic and Ecuador to name a few of the place I have lived.  Everywhere I have been… too numerous to share here, I have been able to work.

All I need is my laptop.

That’s all you need too… a laptop to be free!

Before computers, a pencil and pad did the job.

Freedom is just one benefit you can gain from writing.

Another benefit is income.   Writing has brought me both our farms, free and clear… plus a lot more.

Another good example of earning potential is my friend Hugh Howey.   He was working for $10 an hour in a book store when he self published his novel Wool, typing in a storage room during his lunch breaks.

Soon he was earning over $100,000 a month on Amazon.com.  This helped secure a six-figure book deal from Simon & Schuster, and an option for film by Ridley Scott, director of Blade Runner and Alien.

That’s what he’s doing now.

Hugh Howey

Sometimes Hugh and I get together at my  farm and play chess (he beats me badly).

Writers like High are great inspirations.

A couple of years ago Hugh  left Florida, and moved to South Africa.  He had a sailing catamaran built for him and now can sail the world while he continues to write.

Hugh explained it like this: And that’s the miracle of working as a writer: I can do it from anywhere and everywhere. The past few years, I’ve done a lot of writing from airplanes and airports while on business trips abroad.  SAND was entirely written overseas while traveling through seven different countries; I think it’s a better story because of those inspirations.  In upcoming years, I may be writing near your home port.

Hugh’s a super star writer and his success could not happen to a more deserving and talented person.  He pours enormous energy into being worthy of his readership.  But you do not have to be a million dollar a year earner or a traveler to benefit from writing.

The good news is… you do not need a huge success to have a rich and fulfilled lifestyle.  Self Publishing can bring you a life that most people only dream of, as a journeyman writer, instead of a super star.

May I hastily add that the path to stardom begins as a journeyman… so the journeyman’s path brings success without stardom… but can also lead to stardom.

What most success stories like Hugh’s rarely explain is the many hours of writing that was devoted before their self published book sales soared.   Hugh, like most writers were journeymen first.  Stardom came later.

Here are sevens secrets that can help you become a journeyman writer.

The secrets are a writer’s armory of tools that allows almost anyone to create successful publications for income, freedom and fulfillment.

Take Merri’s and my publishing business as an example.

Merri and I are not writing stars.  We are journeymen who have for more than 40 years, year in and year out, earned solid income writing and self publishing dozens of publications about multiple subjects.

Some years that income has been more than solid… over a million dollars.  Yet in terms of stardom, we are hardly known.

In a moment you’ll see why that’s fine for us and probably will be for you too.

First some history.

Merri became involved in self publishing over 40 years ago… first helping a veterinarian publish a book on a very specific market… animal acupuncture. Then she showed a needle point artist how to sell more books to an even more specific audience… “needle point enthusiasts”  about her needle point work to an audience larger than the population of the city she lived in.  This led Merri to eventually become Executive Editor of an award winning magazine in Florida.

My story allowed Merri and me to work and live from Hong Kong to London to Europe to Eastern Europe, then the Caribbean and then Ecuador… making millions in the process of following our adventures… having fun… while helping a large readership adapt to a rapidly changing world.

That’s what self publishing can bring, profit, adventure and fulfillment, a great feeling of worth and wonder.

Self Publishing has created exactly the lifestyle we desire allowing us to span the world and work with meaning and purpose.

Self Publishing has become a new business art form.

The seven secrets can help you start your own self publishing business now.

Everything in publishing is new and exciting and changing.  Publishing is being recreated by the wonderful power of destructive technology.

Everything is new… except the seven secrets.

Change in the publishing industry is disturbing many.   We love this evolution due to these seven secrets we call the 7Ps.  The 7 Ps are so fundamental to writing and publishing that new technology enhances rather than reduces their power.

The First P is Passion.

Whatever your passion, you can immerse yourself in it AND create income with self publishing.  This can be your direct ticket to the kind of fulfillment you’ve always wanted.

Whether you want to travel the world or live as a recluse, work 12 hours a day or not work much at all,  you can set your schedule to succeed, if you’re willing to learn these seven secrets.

You can start part-time with any dream, passion, and budget.  Once you’ve created a product, you’ll enjoy the “multiple effect” of producing profits over and over again.

So the question is… What do you love to do?

What’s Your Passion:  An example is that thirty years ago, a client of Merri’s had a passion to help people who were in pain?  He published a series of pamphlets explaining various chiropractic disorders in very simple terms.  For example: “What Is Whiplash?”

The pamphlets contained solid information, but were simple 5″ x 7″ brochures with drawings and explanations. He sold them with a rack to chiropractors, who put them in their offices for patients to read.  These little self-published items sold year in and year out for decades.

There are thousands of ideas of this sort that can lead to big business.  It’s just a matter of defining and then acting on your passion.

Although I can work when I please and go where I wish, for me the most important reason for being a publisher is the satisfaction it brings.

I love the projects I take on, so work doesn’t feel like, well… work.

What do you love?  If you love golf, then you can write and sell publications about golf.  Love travel, fishing, dogs, dolls, or art?  Write and sell publications in these fields.

Are you concerned about crime, war, poverty or environmental issues?  You can publish information products that help reduce these concerns.

Would you like to help the world be a more spiritual place?  Publish a newsletter, write a book (or hire someone to write it for you), record a tape… publish something that enlightens people.

Whatever your passion, you can immerse yourself in it and earn income by publishing for ereaders, print on demand, CDs, lists, bound books, or any format you choose.

Be immersed in your passion and get paid well for it.

This is why stardom is not the main goal for most writers and self publishers.  Extra income, more freedom and fulfillment are usually more than enough enough.

The seven Ps are:

#1: Passion

#2: Problem

#3: Person

#4: Profitably Priced Product

#5: Prospecting Pathway

#6: Promise

#7: Presentation

The first time I exposed others to the secrets in Self Publishing was in a weekend “Writer’s Camp” seminar.  We offered the camp for $1,500. 80 delegates enrolled.  People from all walks of life attended—chiropractors, businessmen, investors, doctors, realtors, inventors, airline pilots, engineers, and housewives.

Merri and I were so overwhelmed by the response, we decided to make it available to a larger audience.  We created a written course based on our current self publishing activity called “Self Fulfilled – How to be a Self Publisher.”  Then we recorded the weekend “Writer’s Camp” seminar.

Thousands have used the course as it has evolved over the decades.

You can receive both the written course and the recorded weekend seminar, in an MP3 file, in a special “Live Well and Free Anywhere” program I am making available to you.  The normal fee is $299 for the written course and $299 for the recorded workshop.   I’ll send you both the course and the recorded workshop and my course “International Business Made EZ (also $299) all for $299.  You save $598.

We are so confident that you’ll gain from this offer that if you are not fully satisfied, simply email us within 60 days for a full refund .

These courses are not theoretical.  They describe, step-by-step, how Merri and I built a million-dollar international business and how we are running this self publishing business right now.   We use the 7Ps today just as we did four decades ago to create a strong annual income.

This correspondence course is for those who would like their own international self publishing micro business for fun and profit. If you want fun, freedom, extra income and fulfillment with your own full or part time writing or want to build your existing business, by writing to sell you can profit from this course.  The course can help who want their own business or who want to have a business together or a family business.  This is the perfect course for those who can no longer find employment, who are looking for ways to earn abroad and who wish to retire and supplement their income.

An Incident at Magnolia and Arlington in Riverside

An incident at Magnolia and Arlington… a  Riverside, California intersection, can help us see three valuable lessons about turning your passion into profit through writing and publishing.

Our son, Jake, set us several books on citrus.

oranges

I have learned a lot.

For example did you know orange trees live over 100 years?

I am reading “Citrus – a History” by Pierre Laszlo, a chemist I learned that the California orange industry grew from three trees planted by militant abolitionists who left the East and came to Calif.  Eliza Tibbets was the wife of one and asked the US Dept. of Agriculture for advice on trees that would grow in her front yard.  She was sent three seedlings of the Umbigo Bahai orange from Brazil.  One tree was trampled by the lady’s cow… oops.

oranges

The other two survived and as Lazslo the author put it: As the story goes, Eliza served her oranges at a housewarming party and they were an instant sensation. Here three trees were the foundation for citriculture in California.

One of these two trees still survives in downtown Riverside at the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington Avenues.

I searched Google and sure enough here it is!  Wow, what a piece of history.

riverside-oranges gtas:
Orange tree in Riverside.

The US orange industry is worth $9 billion a year and 90% of oranges come from Florida and Brazil.

Part of the data in these books such as “Citrus a History” are recipes. One book even has a recipe for fried oranges.

A perfect example of the American way. Take something healthy and fry it!  Take paradise and turn it into a parking lot.

We’ll stick to our grilled grapefruit with cinnamon here.

oranges

Here is the first lesson about writing and publishing… be involved in what you love and start small.  Eliza Tibbets started with three seedlings that grew into a billion dollar industry.  She was the Johnny Appleseed of California citrus.

Take citrus as an example.  One can grow oranges… or sell them… or make them organic.

I am thinking about growing oranges in a bottle.

I picked up this idea after reading a Telegraph article that tells how to grow pears in a bottle (that is then filled with brandy). There is a great Youtube video that explains the ancient technique. Here is a shot of how to grow pears in a bottle from that site.

bottled-pear

There is also a Romanian drink called ţuică, a type of Eastern European moonshine, prepared using traditional methods. A famous form of  ţuică  is “ţuica cu fruct.” This is a glass bottle of ţuică containing a whole fruit (usually an apple or a pear). It is obtained by hanging empty bottles on trees in spring or early summer and growing the fruit inside the bottle.

Fill the bottled orange with what? The mind runs wild. Vodka sounds sensible but booze is not my thing, but I can think of something healthy I am sure.

The key is making something unique and if I do, I’ll expand the opportunity by writing about it.

This leads to the second lesson…. publishing can be a product or can enhance a product.  If I figure out a health product based around oranges in a bottle for example… a book or report about this would certainly enhance the product and maybe even generate more income than the bottled product.

The book above “Citrus a History” by Allen Susser shows how a chef combines the love of cooking and citrus.

Susser had his career expanded with the James Beard Award in 1994 as Best New Chef in the Southeast.  Then he ran his Chef Allen’s Restaurant for 25 years before closing it to  focus on writing, restaurant development, consulting, teaching and other culinary ventures.

Susser has been using his writing  and publishing to expand branded concepts.

He also uses his growing business to support of causes ranging from hunger relief to cancer to homelessness to culinary education.  Allen’s most-recent fundraising project is directing a coalition of international chefs to support disaster relief in Japan (chefshelpjapan.com).  His motto is  “They say you do well by doing good”.

This example shows how one can focus on an interest and turn it into an income earner in many ways.

Just being a chef can develop a good income but when expanded though writing and publishing the money can become a lot!

Forbes.com recently published their list of the Top Ten Highest Earning Celebrity Chefs, The top billed chef was Rachel Ray, then Wolfgang Puck and Gordon Ramsay.   Celebrity chefs have become some of the top earners in the celebrity world and they have all used writing and publishing to expand their brand.

Gordon Ramsay, in third place earnings, is a Scottish chef who grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.  He started to get exposed to several Michelin-starred chefs when he worked in Paris.  By 1998 he got to open his own restaurant in Chelsea and achieved several Michelin stars as well.

He earned 7.5 million dollars last year and he is continuously opening restaurants in England, Dubai, Japan, New York and Ireland.

Plus he is publishing more and more books including: Gordon Ramsay Makes It Easy – Roasting in Hell’s Kitchen: Temper Tantrums, F-Words, and the Pursuit of Perfection – Cooking for Friends  – Gordon Ramsay’s Fast Food: More Than 100 Delicious, Super-Fast, and Easy Recipes – Gordon Ramsay’s Healthy Appetite: 125 Super-Fresh Recipes for a High-Energy Life – Kitchen Heaven  – A Chef for All Seasons – Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape: 100 Recipes Inspired by Asia. He has also tapped the Spanish market with books including  – Un chef para todo el ano   – Cocina del mundo   Los mejores menus de Ramsay and Los mejores menus de Ramsay.

Wolfgang Puck did better earning $16 million.  This Austrian-American learned cooking from his mother.  Some education!

Wolfgang Puck still wears his chef’s hat but isn’t cooking much. he is too busy visiting his many fine dining and casual dining spots.  His other ventures include 80 Wolfgang Puck Express operations, and kitchen and food merchandise, including cookbooks and canned foods–allowing him to get included in the list as one of the highest earning chef celebrities in the world today.

Rachel Ray was the top earner at $18 million.
Rachael Ray is a chef, but also a TV  personality, businesswoman and author. She hosts the syndicated talk and lifestyle program Rachael Ray and three Food Network series, 30 Minute Meals, Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels and $40 a Day. Ray wrote cookbooks based on the 30 Minute Meals concept and launched a magazine.

Here is the third lesson. You can have the freedom to do what you love from any place you like, even operating from your bedroom if you wish.  Writing and publishing can promote your product or be your product.

What do you love? Rare cars? You can make a fortune creating a business around them. Do you prefer fine art? Or do you love beautiful jewelry, coins, gems, real estate, furs, model railways, dolls, scientific equipment, war memorabilia, old and rare books, or whatever? Do you prefer social subjects rather than objects?

Are you concerned with the environment or humanitarian problems, with crimes, war or poverty? Would you like to help wipe these social problems out in the course of your writing and publishing?   Chef Allen Susser expands that motto “They say you do well by doing good”.

Are you a golfer? Do you love to travel? Why not make all kinds of money in a global business related to golf?

Would you like to help the world be a more spiritual place, help people get along better together? You can do something good for the world, increase your income and live wherever you please in the process!

Whatever your passion you can learn how to make a fortune by enhancing that business with publishing.   Regardless of your skills and position there is some approach that will work for you.

Take fishing, for example. Millions of people love fishing.

If you love cooking and fishing you can publish a fishing cook book.

Here are just a few of many ways that others have profitably matched this passion with profit. Two of my friends, John and Lou, grew up near me in the Oregon mountains. They were outdoor adventure types and moved to Canada, where they homesteaded 1,200 acres on a trout-filled lake in mid British Columbia. They built a fishing camp that attracts fisherman from around the world.  A book on the exploits of their guests would be wonderful in the adventure market AND would help promote their camp.

An entrepreneur I know from Montana had marketing skills so he published catalogs that sold fishing trips for fishing camps. He attended rod and gun exhibitions, met owners of these camps and arranged to sell their fishing trips to the US, Argentina and even in Russia to fisherman around the world.

Ralph Kylloe on the other hand loved fishing and photography so he created the book, “Fishing Camps”, which was published by Gibbs Smith publisher. This allowed Ralph to travel across the country enjoying fishing camps as he photographed and wrote.

fishing camps

Each of these people had different backgrounds and differed in age, situation and skills. Their common link, the love of fishing, led each to a business related to fishing. Each was able to blend a unique nature and set of skills to develop a global business that surrounded them with fun, like minded fishing souls.  Each was able to expand their business through publishing.

Also, imagine what a publishing business means to your world travel. Almost every trip you take can be tax deductible! You can honestly write off every trip that is related to your business. Every journey becomes a research oriented adventure and a tax deductible event.

As a writer and or publisher you’ll have one of the most respected and tax protected businesses in the country with many  benefits including reduced tax and legal protection.

Gold in Mt. Dora & Lake County

There is gold in and around Mt. Dora and Lake County.

citrus-

Here I am in our orange grove.

Here are three more reasons why you may want to join us in Lake County… to learn about opportunity in gold… the green gold of citrus.

Simply put… Florida real estate prices are down… food prices are rising and as you’ll see below citrus groves present special opportunity now.

This site has promoted the idea of investing in agriculture for more than a decade so when Merri and I started investing back in Florida we invested in Lake County, which is surrounded by these fast growing strong farming communities.

One benefit we especially liked is Lake County’s agricultural economy.  A 2011 USA Today article entitled “Economic expert sees trouble ahead; Housing market municipalities may be in for a rough ride” by Maria Bartiromo shows how agricultural land has already become increasingly profitable.  Here is an excerpt from this article: Meredith Whitney seems to be softening her concerns about a looming muni meltdown as politicians across the country address fiscal challenges more aggressively.  She says a new area of strength is emerging in one part of the country where debt was not an issue: the agricultural belt.

There are parts of the economy that are doing very well. As a food producer, the economy in the middle part of the country’s doing well.

The ag-rich states are going to be Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Texas to a certain extent because it is a massive beneficiary of the price of oil.  It’s the central part of the U.S., you can almost draw a triangle around it, what I call the emerging markets of the U.S. It speaks to how dynamic and strong the U.S. economy really is. It’s just shifting. The U.S. is a composite of many different economies.

Indeed and Florida is a composite of many different economies as well.

florida agriculture

Map from plant medicine program at University of Florida (linked below). This map shows Lake County’s economy enriched by citrus, plants, grapes and vegetables.

The citrus economy in central Florida has a special problem that may create even more opportunity.
Excerpts from a 2011 NPR.org article entitled “Abandoned Citrus Groves Produce Problems In Fla.” by Greg Allen show the second reasons why there is special opportunity in citrus now. Here is an excerpt: Florida is a national leader in orange and grapefruit production.

But in the past few years, landowners have given up on more than 100,000 acres of citrus groves, which have become a threat to producers of the state’s signature crop.

The abandoned groves are breeding grounds for pests and diseases.

Dying Citrus Groves

Indian River, on Florida’s Atlantic coast, is known for its world-class grapefruits, oranges and tangelos. This time of year, many trees are still heavy with fruit.  But there are also many groves that aren’t doing so well.

Citrus growers have always had to fight disease. But in recent years, here in Florida, it has seemed that disease is getting the upper hand. Most recently, two diseases — canker and citrus greening — have been very difficult to control, requiring more care and nearly constant spraying.

Those diseases helped push many producers out of citrus. But Christine Kelly-Begazo says there’s another compelling factor: falling land prices.

Post-Housing Boom

Kelly-Begazo is an agriculture extension agent with the University of Florida in Indian River County. She says during the housing boom, speculators paid top dollar for citrus groves.

“Now, if you bought acreage at that time speculating that you were going to be able to make some money off of agriculture or development  or whatever, and the development boom busted, there’s no incentive now,” she says. “And that acreage is actually costing you money now. So they’ve abandoned the groves, but they’re not building on them either.”
Citrus producers in Indian River have begun a program to bulldoze and burn trees in abandoned groves. But it’s costly and depends on the cooperation of sometimes absentee owners.

This is the latest of many challenges for an industry that has long grown one of Florida’s most lucrative crops.

Consider this. Most investors think Florida real estate is in trouble. It is… some of it.  Yet this broad paint brush thinking masks over the fact that ag rich areas have extra potential. Ag economies are growing rich and parts of Florida are very different… because they are mainly agricultural.  Some parts of Florida have abundant water… great agricultural potential and offer extra opportunity because developers who planned to shift ag land to residential property cannot now do so.

I followed my own advice and invested in citrus, but in a special way… taking on a troubled grove.
Many of you know that we always look for value and in real estate especially we look for fixer uppers.  We took the same approach to citrus because we also knew about Bio Wash.

About a third of the trees in the grove we purchased had root rot. The needed to be replaced.

We had to call in big machines like… this

business-ideas

to yank out 500 (about a third) of our trees so our grove that looked like this… now…

business-ideas

looks like this.

business-ideas

That’s farming for you!

citrus-

You can see our home is surrounded by citrus groves and that our grove (inside the tan circle) could appear to look pretty shot.

Yet we are excited because…

business-ideas

we just sprayed the 1000+ remaining trees…

business-ideas

with…

business-ideas

Bio Wash.

Last year we had some good news when our grove manager wrote: “Last year we used your Bio Wash and we are prepared to use it for you again. The trees do look much better this year.”

Our hunch was correct.  The year before we bought the grove all 1,500 trees produced 1801 boxes of oranges.

We removed one third of the lower producing trees in a grove management plan. We sprayed the remaining 2/3rd with Bio Wash.

With 500 fewer trees, the grove produced 2,484 boxes of oranges in our first year.

In other words, last year the average was a yield of about 1.2 boxes of naval oranges a tree. This year the average yield was 2.4 boxes a tree… double.  This increased the income of the grove 37% with 33% less trees.

Our  grove  manager  is  one  of  the largest in Florida.  Farmers are conservative so our dinky grove will have to do more than this to make them look at this seriously.

So we asked them to spray with Bio Wash twice in 2011-2012. We did and the harvest is in with 3,394 boxes though we still only have 2/3rd as many producing trees as 2009-2010.  Production is up from one box a tree in 2009-2010 to 2.83 boxes this year.  With strong citrus prices, I expect to have tripled the grove while making it more environmentally friendly and perhaps letting the big boys in this business at least take a glance.

This has also made the grove extremely profitable.

I have been reading some great books about citrus and one added benefit is the…

citrus

food.  We have our own… Naval… Hamlin, Tangelo, Tangerine, Lemon, Lime as well as white and ruby red grapefruit. Chef Allen Susser gave us some great recipes.

citrus

At our courses when delegates visit we load them up with fresh squeezed juice… plus…

citrus

these grilled grapefruit just out of our oven delicious… plus imagine

tangerine and orange fruit soup!  We squeeze the citrus right off the trees.

Finally the perfume of the orange blossom (starting just now) is overwhelmingly wonderful!

Citrus is the only fruit that remains ripe on the tree and has fruit and blossoms at the same time.

Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere

A huge economic struggle is taking place.

The hazard began with the Bayer Monsanto merger.   Recent verdicts against Roundup have accelerated the risk.

Bayer shares have fallen dramatically due to the merger especially after an award of more than $2 billion in damages to a couple who alleged that the company’s glyphosate-based weed killer Roundup caused their cancers.

This third loss-in-a-row by Bayer in U.S. courts and highest award to date has put the company in a tailspin. It 13,400 more such lawsuits and shareholders have rebuked Bayer’s top management over its handling of the Monsanto acquisition and this litigation.  The chart below shows how this has wiped over half of Bayer’s market value .

bayer

See up to date Bayer chart at www.finance.yahoo.com

Bayer’s struggle to protect itself can create disaster in almost every part of our lives, from food to our pets to our medicine.

The battle could destroy what’s left of our privacy, the safety of our food supply, the control over our health, the safety of our money and even the sanctity of our opinions and thoughts could be lost.

Markets and social order can collapse at any time.  Schools, businesses, post offices, any public place, are not safe from shooters on the rampage.  Streets are in danger of terrorists ramming their cars into riders on bikes.  We are no longer safe… in shopping centers, at festivals, even in church.

Yet the bigger danger grows and the struggle is taking place, right now.

You can read about tiny parts of this conflict daily in the news.   Most of the clash however is hidden from view.  There are horrible consequences hidden beneath the visible spin.

There is an association forming that can ruin our health care, nutrition and the environment.  This group an control what you read on the internet, see all the words in our phone calls, watch what we see on TV and slant the trends we learn about in social media.

Everything you write or say can be recorded and used  to control what you hear and read.

The warning shot, above the surface, was the merger between Bayer and Monsanto.

Bayer and Monsanto each have each developed poisons that are harsh on our ecosystem.

The merger of the two firms should have been stopped to ensure human and planetary survival.

But these massive companies have invested so much into lobbying and financing political campaigns that they have the ability to shape political systems to their own end.

Scientific studies found that neonicotinoid pesticides made by Bayer have almost eradicated some bird populations and flying insects.

These pesticides, along with Monsanto’s toxic herbicide Roundup, have delivered a one-two punch against  butterflies, honeybees and birds. Roundup has also been linked to over 40 human diseases, including cancer.

But both the US and the European Union approved the $66 billion merger of Bayer and Monsanto.  This union not only increases the potential of adding toxic poison to the environment but also gives this giant form control over genetically modified (GMO) seeds that have reduced seed diversity globally.

This union is horrible enough, yet it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Seven companies are involved in a more sinister plot.

The momentum of this dangerous alliance has picked up faster than anticipated.

I began researching and preparing a report “Learn Anywhere, Earn Everywhere” when the Bayer-Monsanto merger was the big deal.   They were two of the seven firms involved in this almost invisible take-over of our food and medical services as well as the internet, cell phones and TV.

I started researching when I saw the hidden depths of this Bayer-Monsanto merger.  I was truly concerned and shocked because my research discovered that the consolidation of Bayer and Monsanto is not the biggest merger nor the most dangerous by far.

Due to the urgency created by the Roundup lawsuits I have miscalculated how much time we have.  I went to work on the report right away, taking my time to delve deeply, but even before I have finished the report, events have begun to heat up.   The pace of this hidden unification has increased.  Now another merger is taking place, far more destructive and the alliance has an incredible lobby program working to make sure that the deal goes through.

A triad of three huge concerns and four smaller ones with hundreds of billions of dollars have built one of the most formidable lobbying operations in Washington.  Nearly 100 registered lobbyists are already on retainer and they include former members of Congress.   One company in this heptagon is also the largest donor to federal lawmakers.

The donations we know of equal more than $11 million paid to 374 of the House’s 435 members and 85 of the Senate’s 100 members in this election cycle.

This deadly seven point affiliation is likely to snake into almost every part of our livelihood.

One part of the cartel will increase our dependence on modified food that can purposely increase our needs for pharmaceuticals manufactured and sold at outrageous prices by another arm of the group.

The organizations will know more about us than any other group in existence.  They will (in fact they already are) act as spies for the government.  This amalgamation will control what ads we see, the products we buy, listen into our phone calls and even monitor and influence what we see on TV.

Sadly most of the public will not even know that this fusion has taken place.  Life will appear to go on as normal.  They won’t even see the change as what’s left of their good life which could be drained away by corporate malfeasance.

This is why I am rushing a report to you so you can be one of the few who avoid the ruin of this alliance and gain rather than lose from the shift.

The report “Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere” contains seven steps we can take to gain benefits and protection from this cartel.

Here is some background.  At the beginning of the 20th century, Carl Duisberg, the head of Bayer, created a profit sharing cartel from three firms BASF, Bayer and Agfa, called the Dreibund (Triple Alliance) or little IG.

This German chemical association dominated commerce everywhere under the name of IG Farben, the largest company in Europe, the 4th largest anywhere and the largest chemical company in the world.

Because “Power Corrupts” this company morphed into something truly evil before and during the Second World War.

After WWII IG Farben was considered so morally corrupt it could not be allowed to continue to exist and was split into its original constituent companies.  Today Agfa, BASF, Sanofi and Bayer (now expanded) remain.

This is where facts become truly scary.  Some of these very same companies have merged with other mega concerns to create a new American Dreibund (a Triple Alliance dominating the USA).   This new cartel has such power it can take control of your food, your medicine and even influence, if not control, what you read and the information you access for health and wealth.  Even worse, they can monitor everything you do and give it to others in government and business as well.

From a political point of view we cannot do much about this alliance.   The cartel has hundreds of billions of dollars and hundreds of lobbyists.  They are making their big move right now, to take advantage of the current political distraction.  They know that after an election politicians are willing to accept bad news because it will be forgotten in four years.

In addition their greatest enemy in the government has only a couple of months left as the head of the Federal agency that will fight this cartel.

Only a few people will know how to take advantage of the shifts created from the results of this alliance.

The sooner we act, the greater the benefits.   This is why I want to rush my newest report “Live Anywhere-Earn Everywhere” to you.  This report shares how to protect what you have from this coalition that is taking over mainstream media, our food supply as well as our medical history, health care and communications.

Fortunately a loophole can set you free.  You can protect what you have and actually improve your situation, a lot.  Merri and I have already jumped though the loophole and want to share why and how you should too.

How to Gain Extra Freedom – While Almost Everyone Loses Theirs.  Become a Pruppie!

May I coin a new word, Pruppie?

We all know about preppers.  They believe that the world, as we know it, is about to end.  And we also know about Uppies, upward professionals as in Yuppies, young upward professionals.  Uppies expect their world to get better.

The reality is that our worlds have changed and for most of us, there is still great opportunity for a better lifestyle, yet the preppies could be right.

I invite you to join Merri and me as Pruppies, those who expect the world to get better and live and earn based on that expectation but enjoy a progressive lifestyle of freedom that also happens to prepare us for bad times as well as good.

Just in case… the world goes sideways… we will still survive and prosper anyway.  We do not give up anything much.  We can enjoy the good parts of the new economy, as we protect ourselves from what can be bad.

For example in this report, you’ll see how to make your dining room table bring you more control, more time, more income and more freedom.  After all, what can be more accessible than a dining room table?

ecuador-banks

You’ll even learn how to turn dining room tables into income and tax deductions as we have with these dining room tables we build out of local wood.

Let me be clear.  I expect that the world will get better, at least for the few who adapt and avoid the dangers the American Dreibund has planned for the public.  The wealth of the world, albeit with inequality, has continued to grow.  There is an incredible new economy that’s opening for those who know what to do.  There are great new opportunities and many of them offer enormous income potential and they even work well in disaster scenarios.

Let me provide one simple, concrete example.  Ginseng.

This is a great health root.  The demand is growing especially in China.  At times good dried Ginseng sells for $1,000 a pound!  This is an incredible and easy crop to grow.   The less care you give it, the more valuable it can become.  Yet if everything goes south, the health qualities will be good to have and make it an excellent barter item.  Once you know what to do with ginseng, it’s easy to grow in your back yard.

Even better one of the best kept secrets is that ginseng and 125 other medicinal crops that are currently unsustainable but can be grown on land  that is extraordinarily cheap.

There are are specific places that reduce your living expenses, easily increase your income, make you smarter, healthier and provide tax benefits as well.

Learn about these specific places.  More important learn what makes these places special and seven freedom producing steps that you can use to find other similar spots of opportunity.

Here are some of the experiences this report shares:

The report includes a tax and career plan broken into four age groups, before you finish school, from age 25 to 50 – age 50-to 65 and what to do when you reach the age where tradition wants you to re-tire.  (Another clue-you do not need to retire and probably should not).

The report is very specific because it is about what Merri and I, our children and even my sister and thousands of our readers have done and are doing.

Live Anywhere – Earn Everywhere focuses on a system that takes advantage of living in Smalltown USA, but earning globally.

  • Learn about the magic of the north facing slope.   This is where Merri and I live almost half of our time.  North facing mountain land is some of the least expensive in the world but has hidden values that the report reveals.  There is a lot of this land and a lot of hidden value that you can tap.   When we bought our Blue Ridge farm (252 acres) I mentioned this to my Swiss banking friend.  “That’s bigger than the entire village where I live!” was his response.  Smalltown USA offers a last chance at having a lot of space.  By living in two Smalltown places there are enormous tax advantages as well.  One step in the system saves Merri and me over $28,345 in taxes a year.

The report shows how to buy cheap north facing slopes and create an income producing tiny home for $29,000 or less.

If you lack the $29,000 to invest, a start up using tents is even less.  These are tipis we put up at our farm before we built our first tiny home.  Learn how they can create tens of thousands of dollars in income for you.

  • See ways that small businesses like Tipi rentals can create BIG tax savings as well as extra income.  For more than 30 years Merri and I have enjoyed a strong six figure income, some years more, in the millions.  Yet there have been very few years when we had to pay federal income tax.  The report lays out a three structure program and how it is used when you are in school (up to age 30), then from 25 to 50, 50 to 70  and beyond 70.   Learn why Chapter C corporations and pensions can be better than the normally recommended Chapter S.  See how new mileage log rules gives you a possible opportunity to increase your tax deductions using IRS Form 4562.  Using a two-vehicle strategy you can gain $12,976 in new deductions even if you do not have to drive one mile further or spend one additional penny on your car.
  • See how a greenhouse can help you eat better and be healthier, plus provide income and a tax deduction and be funded by a government grant.

gary-scott-farming

  • There are similar benefits from having a second home office defined in IRS publication 463 and IRS publication 587, even if your desk is a dining room table.  The report also shows how your dining room table can become an actual income producer as its creates a huge tax deduction at the same time, not to mention a great place to eat, work and lay out plans for a brighter, safer more lucrative and enjoyable future.
  • Living in this environment is also healthier, economically as well as physically.  You’ll see in the report how researchers at Harvard found an amazing correlation between living in conditions found on north facing slopes, longevity and mental health.  The researchers were quite surprised by this strong correlation that also extended into mental health.  In addition to feeling better, reducing stress and having more Joie de Vivre the places outlined in “Live Anywhere-Earn Everywhere” can help you avoid hospitals, high cost disease management (aka health care) and BIG pharma while providing an investment opportunity in three plants that have some of the fastest growing demand in natural health care.  These three plants are just one of seven business opportunities that can create multiple streams of income.
  • How changes in cell phone and internet technology eliminated the need to be in one place.   An old law that creates new opportunity for small business in small towns is available to everyone.
  • Use the specific search and purchase guide.  Construction plans are included that show how to generate first tier income that leads to five, second tier avenues of earnings.
  • How to pay off old debt and avoid new debt by avoiding spurts and embracing value.
  • Learn seven skills that will always have value.  See how to turn First Aid, medicinal plants, hospitality, food, trees, alternate energy and writing to sell into everlasting, low stress wealth.
