The Most Special Gift of Christmas

Here is the Christmas gift of silence.  What a special day! How magnificent that we celebrate this great power of light and positive energy so near the darkest, shortest day of the year.

gary-scott-sunrise tags:"2012-4-18"

Christmas  dawn at our home.

This the day of birth… of dawn and all things positive… peace… inner silence… calm… positive hopes of goodness for all… and the knowledge that no time is ever too late… because the darkest hour and deepest silence are the seeds for the greatest music and brightest light.

Silence is the great path to happiness.

Our Christmas gift to readers is always,  a quote from The Winter Solstice, the Sacred Traditions of Christmas by John Mathews.

“There is a moment of silence that occurs every year, somewhere between the dawn of Christmas and the setting sun on Christmas day itself. – a moment we have all experienced once in our lives, maybe more than once. It can silence a great city, London or New York , and it can bring stillness to our hearts, whoever and wherever we may be. It offers the promise of new beginnings, of the clean slate of a new year, and it incorporates the breathless expectancy of Christmas night itself, when a familiar figure enters our lives and changes them briefly. It is such a moment that lies at the heart of the mid winter solstice and it is the celebration of this that this book is written.”

There is scientific evidence that silence is the most powerful path to happiness.  Scientists from University of Queensland in Australia and University of California at Berkeley  studied 76 Tibetan monks looked at how meditation in silence can affect the brain.

These experiments found that meditation improves “perceptual rivalry,” a process that takes place when two different images are presented to each eye.   Meditating on a single object or thought, created the ability to extend perceptual dominance.  One monk was able to maintain constant visual perception for 723 seconds. The average visual perception for control students was 2.6 seconds.

MRI scans revealed that because of meditation, one 66-year-old monk, has the largest capacity for happiness ever recorded. University of Wisconsin researchers, led by Davidson, hooked up 256 sensors to his head, and found that this monk had an unusually large propensity for happiness and reduced tendency toward negativity from actual changes in the brain.

Such studies show that this meditation in silence actually changes the brain and creates particular changes in the neural networks.  Normally thinking causes the brain to switch between the beta network (which deals with on tasks outside the body) and other brainwave networks, that tap into deeper inner self-reflective and emotional intelligence.   These outer and inner networks rarely work together.  Research has found that brains of experienced meditators are able to keep both networks active at the same time… thus giving logical thinking access to our deeper intellect.

Merri and I send our best wishes to you for silence filled with  a silent, inner joy and peace over this special time of celebration and in every day.

Gary

Hemingway’s Secret

Here’s a great Christmas gift idea.  You can give Hemingway’s secret of success.

hemmingway

Was Ernest Hemingway’s secret to success being able to write in English or Spanish?

‪There may have been many reasons why Hemingway liked Cuba but he already had access to most of them in Key West.  Why go the extra 104.91 miles to Cuba?

Perhaps he knew that speaking a second language makes you smarter.  Perhaps he realized that he could think and write better in English when one learns Spanish.   In 1939 he moved to Cuba and wrote “For Whom the Bell Tolls” which  became a Book-of-the-Month Club choice.  The book sold half a million copies almost instantly, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and cemented Hemingway’s reputation as one of the great writers in the English language… at a time when he was speaking two languages.

You can be be smarter and incidentally… provide a Christmas gift and save $178.90 in the process.

This offer makes a great Christmas gift.  I’ll explain how in a moment.

You might ask… “What the heck does speaking Spanish have to do with being more successful.

Well… to start, being smarter means you gain greater intellect.  You can be smarter with Super Thinking.   Super Thinking tactics integrate brain waves so absorption, retention and recollection of  information improve… a lot.   Most important of all, Super Thinking helps you synthesize what you learn so you can connect dots and use the knowledge you gain to achieve your goals.

In short, Super Thinking makes you smarter.. a lot!

Super Thinking is not a gimmick nor a trick. At least three best selling books, Superlearning, the Mozart Effect and Superlearning 2000 have revealed insights about how we can learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.  Merri was among those few who learned how and is licensed to teach the Lozanov system.  She has organized a practical course on how to learn faster and better.  With her modified system, you discover how to think more powerfully in just three days…and experience the wonders of superlearning.

When I figured this out, my first thought was… “Why not help readers learn Super Thinking AND Spanish?”  There and then was a two for one deal.

Enroll for our Online Super Spanish Course and you gain a the Super Thinking Workshop for Greater Intelligence workshop (a $49.95 value) FREE.

We will also deliver both the Spanish course and the workshop to someone of your choice by email on Christmas morning or Christmas Eve.

You save $178.90 total!

Still you ask… “Why Spanish for greater intellect and success?

Spanish is the second most spoken romantic language.  Chances are a huge Spanish speaking population lives near you.  Speaking Spanish can be helpful in innumerable ways just from this fact.

There is more.  Learning a second language makes you smarter and healthier.

The Telegraph article (linked below) entitled “Why learn a foreign language? Benefits of bilingualism says (bolds are mine):  Learning a foreign language is more than just a boost to your CV or handy for travelling. It will make you smarter, more decisive and even better at English, says Anne Merritt.

Physiological studies have found that speaking two or more languages is a great asset to the cognitive process. The brains of bilingual people operate differently than single language speakers, and these differences offer several mental benefits.

You can read the entire article at the link below but to sum it up it shows seven ways that learning a second language improves your intellect and health:

* You build multitasking skills

* You stave off Alzheimer’s and dementia

* Your memory improves

* You become more perceptive

* You become smarter

* Your decision-making skills improve

* You improve your English

A better command of English… used by a smarter, more perceptive person who can remember details and multi task.

With this. I rest Hemingway’s case.

The Super Thinking Workshop can help you join the top 3 percent of intelligent people in the world.

Be happier as you become smarter.

A study of 10,000 British people studied the pure relationship between intelligence and happiness stability.

IQ can predict the emotional ups and downs of life.   The research found that the lower the IQ,  the higher the ups and downs in life satisfaction.  The differences were not due to education, income, or jobs either, but simply IQ.

Become smarter, healthier, happier… in just weeks… hearing  a relaxation session that takes you into your secret rose garden.

Merri, David and I originally developed this session for our Super Thinking courses and have set it into an online workshop for you.

Listen… just 18 minutes day.  We guarantee your life will be better.

Inflate Your IQ.

When it comes to money… inflation is cheating.

That’s bad for you.

When it comes to intelligence… inflating is smart… fair… good for you and it’s good for the rest of the world.

Monetary inflation is a sneaky government and business trick.

What cost a dollar in 1965 can easily cost $15 now.

They promise you more.

Liars?

They devalue the currency so you get more dollars that buy less.  They can rip off your salary,  your pension…raise insurance, almost everything.

And they make you work harder… longer… for less.

Whittle, whittle, whittle.  Push, push, push.  That’s what monetary inflation does to you.

Fight back… overcome the inflation trick.  Inflate your IQ as you relax.

Gain more than IQ.

Be smarter… more energetic…. healthier.

That’s the way to get ahead!

Create more income opportunity.  Improve your health.  Be naturally smarter… use Super Thinking.

You can improve your IQ in just weeks.

You might well ask… How is this possible?

Here’s how the scientists say it is possible.

A Wall Street Journal article entitled “Ways to Inflate Your IQ”(3)  show how you can be smarter and actually add matter to your brain.  The article says:

Many people think of IQ as a genetic trait, like brown eyes or short legs: You’re born with it and you’re stuck with it.

Now, a growing body of research is showing that a person’s IQ can rise—and even fall—over the years.

Scores can change gradually or quickly, after as little as a few weeks of cognitive training, research shows.

British students were given IQ tests and brain scans at ages 12 to 16 and again about four years later.  9% of the students showed a significant change of 15 points or more in IQ scores.

The study published in Nature said that on a scale where 90 to 110 is considered average, one student’s IQ rose 21 points to 128 from 107, lifting the student from the 68th percentile to the 97th compared with others the same age.

MRIs in this study showed changes in gray matter in areas corresponding to fluctuations in the kid’s skills.

There are practical steps people can take to see longer-term IQ changes.  New tasks stimulate the brain most.  Young adults given just one month of intense training in juggling, found an increase in the corresponding gray matter in the brain as early as seven days after the training began.

Fluctuations in IQ scores over time underscore the brain-boosting benefits of musical training and new experiences throughout a lifetime.

Music lessons are linked to higher IQ throughout life.  Six years’ lessons lifted children’s IQ scores an average 7.5 points.

Improve the brain through music… without lessons.

Here’s the Super Thinking story…

The educational program Merri and I developed uses a form of brain wave integration that increases IQ.

Super Thinking uses frequency (in music and a number of other ways) to integrate brain waves so the process of absorbing, processing and recalling information is vastly accelerated.  The music creates the three C’s:  Calm, Clarity and Coherence.

This Super Thinking program is not a gimmick or trick… just advanced education.

Certain types of Baroque music are the base, and they make you smarter!

Proof?

At least four best selling books, “Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain”,  “Superlearning”, the “Mozart Effect” and “Superlearning 2000″ showed how to learn and think more powerfully based on systems drawn from the Bulgarian educational master, Dr. Georgi Lozanov.

This Baroque music tactic alone is so powerful that Small Business Innovation Research… an official site of the US government granted over $100,000 for the specific purpose they said was: to provide a method to remove barriers which hinder or prevent the employment of blind persons.  An innovative method, the Lozanov Learning System, is proposed to help train blind persons to become computer programmers and operators of automated equipment.

Merri was among just a few who learned this technique directly from Dr. Lozanov the time he visited the USA.

Our Super Thinking workshop enhanced this system with numerous other tactics.

We added slight alterations in nutrition that create a higher IQ.   Altered nutritional tips in Super Thinking can make anyone 25% smarter!

Baroque Music and nutrition are just part of seven, easy to use, learning techniques that make you smarter.

Gain any skill, from computers to athletics to conversational languages…in less time…two-to-five times faster.

Here’s a huge bonus.  Super Thinking also relieves stress.  Super Thinking is fun.

You can use a Super Thinking focus in everything:  health… earning… education… investing.

Super Thinking works on the learner first…the data second.  This system “grows the learner” rather than the information.

If you have 4.5 inches of information flowing through a 4 inch learning pipe, the solution is not to add another inch of information.  The answer is create a six inch IQ pipe!

Share our years of experience.

For nearly 50 years, Merri and I have conducted hundreds of courses and tours for tens of thousands, in dozens of countries (even behind the Iron Curtain).  Our Super Thinking Workshop has been one of the most profound.  Now the workshop is even better online because it condenses Super Thinking so you can increase your IQ, at home… right away.

The workshop shows how these mind expanding tactics can be applied to starting and running a business for extra income, to forex trading and investing.  Athletes of all types… golfing being one common sport benefit.  Our Super Thinking plan goes far beyond Lozanov and allows you to rapidly get smarter in every part of your life.

For example, real estate broker, Suzy Kurinsky took the workshop to help her learn Spanish.

She wrote: “You are the BEST!!! Your Seminar was fantastic! I am so excited. I had procrastinated fulfilling my continuing education for my Broker’s License and then just before my surgeries, I realized by expiration date isn’t Nov. 12th – it is Sept 12th. Prior to taking your course I had only completed 3 units of the required 45 units. I thought I would take your course and then complete my remaining 42 units over the next 2 weeks. However, I took one class exam on Saturday night, August 27th. I didn’t even take the cellophane off the required Course manuals until after I saw the two of you today less than 5 hours ago! I used your techniques and completed 39 units of continuing education today. I have now completed all 45 units. All of my test scores were in the 90.6-96% range.  My course exam information is listed below. I just wanted to let you know how valuable your course was to me. Thanks again!”

Super thinking can improve almost anything you do… faster, better, more fun and with less stress.

Another attendee to the Super Thinking Workshop sent this note.

Thank you for the wonderful workshop on Super Learning + Spanish!  I really enjoyed the workshop and getting to know you.   I can see several ways to apply what I learned in the classes I teach.

Since I returned home, I have purchased some of the CDs of Baroque music and thought about which specific pieces will work best in different parts of my classes.  I am also reading Perfect Health by Deepak Chopra.  I found your discussion of this book to be very helpful in showing how to balance one’s life.  I have adjusted my daily schedule, and I can already notice a difference in my productivity.

Super Thinking can help improve your health. Super Thinking can make you rich and add richness to your life.

However the time, travel expense and workshop cost (delegates have paid up to $999) have prohibited many from getting this benefit.

That’s why we have created the workshop in electronic form.  Get Super Thinking online for less than fifty bucks.

Relax in the Secret Rose Garden.

The workshop is divided into two parts.  Part one is the application… the sessions that tell you exactly what to do, what music to use and even includes two recorded sessions based around a secret rose garden that you can use.  We have kept this portion short and simple so you can easily start immediately.

Part two is a longer portion on theory.

Part one is enough.

Super Thinking is like jogging… giving results if you simply do it!

You do not have to know why Super Thinking works to increase your IQ.   But Part Two explains why you are getting the good results from Part One, if you want to know.

You might ask…”Will it work for me”?

The Super Thinking Workshop will help increase your IQ.

Our guarantee.

I guarantee it.  Order the Spanish course and Super Thinking Workshop.  Use it them two months past Christmas.  If you are not totally satisfied… in any way, during that time, simply let me know and I’ll send a full refund… immediately… no questions asked.

Another Super Thinking workshop attendee wrote: Listening to the two of you during our time together has suddenly got me to thinking, and although some of the ideas still seem foreign to me,  I am at a point in my life now where I can say, “anything is possible”.   I am now willing to embrace and allow myself to experience the world of possibility and let it take me in directions I may have in the past resisted.  I really don’t know where all this is going to lead me but I am now willing to explore, develop and grow.   Thank you again for a wonderful four days!!

Inflation is a cheat… a crime when it comes to money.  Inflating your IQ to beat inflation is simple good sense.  Learn Super Thinking now with no risk.  Begin to increase your intelligence today.

Christmas Silence

Silence… what a gift at Christmas.   How wonderful that humanity celebrates  the spirit of giving and gratitude around the year’s darkest hour.

In these times when so much public attention is focused on darkness and negativity it is extra special that we  celebrate the beauty of life’s ebb and flow…. beginning and ending in silence.

The darkest hour has long been seen as the beginning of dawn.   The English theologian Thomas Fuller put the idea in print in his religious travelogue “A Pisgah-Sight Of Palestine And The Confines Thereof, 1650”.  He worte: It is always darkest just before the Day dawneth.

My Irish ancestors sang of this in songs and ballads:   An upbeat  saying amongst the Irish peasantry to inspire hope under the adverse circumstances they faced was  that the darkest hour of all. is the hour before day.

Harriet Beacher Stowe wrote: Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

To celebrate the wonder and power and joy in silence, we send as a Christmas gift to you, a quote from The Winter Solstice, the Sacred Traditions of Christmas by John Mathews.

There is a moment of silence that occurs every year, somewhere between the dawn of Christmas and the setting sun on Christmas day itself.

Merri, David and I send our special best wishes to you and thank you for inviting us into your holiday home.

P.S.  A reader sent this blessed gift to Merri, me and the rose growers in Ecuador.

Merri and Gary,  Merry Christmas, I am in tears here looking at my wife’s Ecuadorian Roses. I thank you for presenting this opportunity to help those of LOTS and also bring these roses to my wife. We are close to destitute these days from circumstances and we will have a very spartan Christmas, however these well received roses have brought a peaceful beauty and scents of love into our house. I thank the Ecuadorians for their care with these roses and am grateful to you for facilitating a major portion of my purchase to help those there in need more than me.  Again thank you Gary & Merri, for all the good you do.  “May the wind be always at your back and may the Lord hold you in the hollow of his hand”  Merry Christmas, with love and appreciation”

Merri and I thank all of you for ordering roses in the holidays.  We have been able to help provide scholarships… rebuild schools and assist indigenous Ecuadorians with your rose orders.

Merry Christmas and thanks again for sharing this year with us.

Gary Scott is Nuts

“Gary Scott is nuts about Ecuador roses”.

Somebody said I am nuts about Ecuador roses.  What can I say?  I love them. The rooms in our home seem empty without roses.

This means there are some special Christmas savings and a new package that reduces the cost of Ecuador roses from Christmas.

First here is a tip on how to make your Ecuador roses last… and last…. and last.

Ecuador-Roses

For example here are some roses going on two weeks that still look great.

A friend who recently ordered a bundle of Ecuador roses sen this note.

Gary, Since this is our first experience with “fresh cut and shipped roses” we did a little research about proper care upon arrival.  Some of it seems a little over kill but basically I bleached a 5 gal bucket, filled it with luke warm water plus plant food then cut the stems at 45 degree angle while under water then quickly moved them to the bucket.  After 2 hours in the water to stablize them I unwrapped the blooms gently to let them start expanding and breath.  Tomorrow we will prepare 3 vases with warm water and plant food and move them to the final vases.  The directions say to “redo” them every 2-3 day’s with fresh water and more plant food and they should last for weeks—we’ll see. :-)   Thanks for your help—-Roberto seems to be a very nice man.

Those are really good steps for making roses last a long time… but I added a few more tips and wrote:

That’s the full Monte of flower care!

Ecuador-roses

2 dozen Ecuador roses.

Here are a few more tips that will help you enjoy the beauty of your Ecuador roses for a longer time.

First keep off TV or any electronic and out of any breezes.

Do not crowd the flowers. I have found that 12 or 18 roses in a vase will last longer than 24.  They open better and last longer.

For example the 24 above in one vase won’t last as long as if I split them up like these below.

Ecuador-Roses

white and bi color.

Ecuador-Roses

The nature of the flower also has an impact.  Some roses have quite a large stem and a smaller head. These last longest.

The roses with thin stems and larger heads do not last as long.    As soon as they start to dip their heads, I cut them fairly short and put them in a short vase… they continue to look great like these which are now about two weeks old.

Ecuador-Roses

The bi colors below are a really long lasting rose.

Ecuador-roses

I find that putting just a few roses in a vase, like these three which are about two weeks old, causes them to really last for a long time also.

Now Order 25 Roses

For the first time ever we have been able to arrange delivery of smaller amounts (25) of fresh Ecuador roses.   see details below.

Red Christmas roses at our house.

A reader sent this holiday note:  We ordered 100 roses thru Gary and Merri Scott to be delivered to our present address in California for distribution among eight ladies in the family on Thanksgiving day.

The flowers arrived Tuesday, two days before the holiday just as promised by Fed-Ex. They were tightly packed in four bunches of 25 each.  They were divided into 7 dozen + 16 that ended up with my bride of 41 years. Normally with local U.S. roses one cuts the stems at a sharp angle on the bottom and stores them in the refrigerator for a couple days. The roses from Ecuador have stems on them over four feet long. These long stemmed beauties cannot fit into any domestic refrig. that I know of. Place them loosely packed into deep heavy vases full of fresh cold water and the buds open into the largest blooms you have ever seen. Change the water often enough and they will look beautiful for over two weeks. We nursed ours along for three weeks.  Jump in, – the water is fine. You will be glad that you did. Will be interested in hearing about your experience.

Take time to smell the roses and be good to yourself.

Sunday December 16, 2012 is the last day left to order Ecuador Christmas roses for Thursday December 20, 2012  delivery only.

Merri and I love Ecuador for the warmth and friendliness in the hearts of its people. We also love Ecuador’s beauty.  When an opportunity to send Ecuador roses and raise money for the poor occurred earlier this year, we grabbed the chance.

The first I wrote about Ecuador Christmas roses, we made a special offer and sold over 20,000 roses that raised $8,000 to help Ecuador’s poor. The money was used to provide schooling for gifted indigenous children, to buy a  InFocus projector used in our free English classes for Ecuadorian children and help repair an Ecuadorian school.  Since then our rose sales have been helping send Ecuador children to school.

There and then I decided to continually offer Ecuador roses.

The minute I receive your order, I’ll put you directly in touch with the rose plantation who will reserve your color option either red and white, or farm’s choice.

There are five ways to obtain fresh cut Ecuador roses for Christmas.

#4 – 5  The 4th and 5th ways to order is to reserve 50 or  100 red and white rose color choice.

Fresher Quality Roses

Most roses go from Ecuador to Miami by air then are stored in Miami then shipped by truck until they sit in a store. They can be a week or more old when you see them. The roses you receive from this offer are cut and stored overnight, driven by refrigerated truck to Quito Airport and flown to Miami to a special refrigerated Fedex facility until, then flown to your Fedex destination for immediate delivery to your home or office. This means they last longer.

Environmentally Clean Roses

The roses your receive are certified by Veriflora. The VERIFLORA seal is a real, green program that regularly spot check farms for ecologically sound systems that include:

1- Water and ecological conservation: implementing water management systems to prevent depletion of fresh water supplies.

2- Product quality: implementing practices to ensure the quality of the product through the whole chain of delivery to the final consumer.

3- Advanced agricultural practices: integrating organic practices wherever possible. To only use approved green label certified pesticides. To allow no discharge of pesticides run off into the environment.

4- Waste management: recycling and composting as well as the proper disposal of agricultural chemicals.

By March of 2007 the co-op that sends your roses had certified 144 acres.

Certification means the growers have met or exceeded the requirements. There is no middle ground with Veriflora, no differing levels of certification. You either are ecologically sound and certified, or you aren’t.

That means you receive environmentally friendly roses.

Here are some of my Thanksgiving roses.  Compare that head size to anything you see in a store.

Fair Trade Roses

In addition the Verflora seal requires the rose grower to be socially responsible adhering to recognized labor and community standards, specially pertaining to health and safety, work conditions, hiring practices, discrimination, harassment and fair pay.

The growers offer every single one of their workers:

-free doctor and medical treatment at the farm for workers
-day care facilities for infants
-free breakfast and lunch (and dinner when they work late)

Ecuador Christmas Roses

Ecuador fresh cut Christmas Roses can be ordered from now until noon EST December 16, 2012.

The Ecuador rose plantation offers two color choices,  farm choice assorted or red and white (on orders of 50 and 100 roses). There is a $10 surcharge per 50 for the red and white rose selection.

The growers offer every single one of their workers:

Happy Christmas Eve

We send our wishes that tomorrow will bring you the Merriest of all Christmases!

One rich part of the texture that comes from living in many places around the world is seeing how closely we really are connected.

This day, when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, is so rich in inspiration that everyone can gain regardless of culture, religion or creed and we have seen these connections again and again.

May Merri and I share three stories of Jesus given by those from other religions and cultures that have been meaningful to us?

I was reminded of the ideal that we are always cared for if we place our lives with God when reading the 14th century Sufi (Islamic) poet Rumi who wrote this beautiful poem (translated by Coleman Barks), that says:

“The miracle of Jesus is himself, not what he said or did about the future. Forget the future.”

A Huron Indian carol touched my heart by sharing the ideals of hope and renewal in an Indian way. This carol evolved from a legend of Deganaidah, the Peacemaker. This mythic person was known as the Man from the North and was said to be born in the Wendot tribe (Huron) on the northern shore of Lake Ontario. Tradition says he was born of a virgin who had been visited by a messenger of the Great Spirit Tarenyawagon, who was bringing a messenger to give lasting peace to mankind. Here is the carol:

“Twas in the moon of winter time

when all the birds had fled,

The mighty Gitchimanitou

sent angels choirs instead.

Before the light the stars grew dim

and wandering hunters heard the hymn

Jesus your King is born,

Your king is born.

Within a lodge of broken bark

The tender babe was found

A ragged robe of rabbit skin

Enwrapped his beauty round

The chiefs from afar before him knelt

With gifts of fox and beaver pelt.

Oh children of the forest free

O sons of Manitou

The holy child of earth and heaven

Is born today for you.

Come kneel before the radiant boy

Who brings you beauty, peace and joy.”

I was especially reminded “how we are all eternal” when speaking with an Andean shaman one day about the concepts of life and death.

“There is no death,” he said. “Did you not listen to the message from Jesus?”

What more can we say except that to ask all of you our friends, regardless of your religion, race or creed to pray today to your God for the greatest Christmas ideal of all “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All”!

Gary & Merri

Here are fresh Ecuador roses at our hotel in Cotacachi.

-free sports and recreation facilities
-small business loans -when workers want to leave to set up their own small holding farm
-workers fund for financial help with school fees or to buy a car, etc.
-complete health and safety equipment provided free -helmets , gloves, masks, etc.
-paid maternity leave with a guarantee of work when they want to return
-overtime paid over and above the legal requirements
-Christmas parties, summer holiday excursions, sports tournaments
-a safe and secure work environment with job satisfaction and potential for personal development

Christmas is celebrated in the Andes with colorful processions as the Indigenous dress in their finest and bring gifts of fruit and produce, which they lay before the image of the Christ Child in the pesebre, or manger scene.

Merri and I wish you the merriest Christmas and look forward to sharing all 12 days of Christmas with you. This is a season rich with meaning and spirit and perhaps through this sharing we will all learn ways to make our health better, our wealth richer and our lives more fulfilled in the year ahead.

The twelve days of Christmas begins tomorrow, (some traditions start the 12 days on the evening of December 25th with the following day considered the First Day of Christmas (December 26th).  These Twelve Days of Christmas are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany  (January 6th; the 12 days count from December 25th until January 5th).

In Ecuador they are more strongly celebrated than in North America… each day rich with meaning.

Today though is the day of giving gifts.  We can learn from giving and the three Chaldean Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, who took the Baby Jesus three precious gifts.

The gifts themselves do not tell the tale, but the symbols behind the offerings are what we can wisely use.

Caspar brought Gold for the King as a symbol of abundance. Melchior offered Frankincense to the Priest within the Child which signifies wisdom. Finally Balthasar carried precious Myrrh for the Physician that this Wonder Child would be… the symbol for prophesy.

They saw that Christ would be a King, a Physician and a Priest and the gifts send the message to have balance in our lives. To take care of our wealth, look after our health and maintain a positive moral spirit.

What a gift!  Today we hope that you enjoy these blessed riches!

How We Can Serve You

How to Have Real Safety in 2020

The most important investment you can make in 2020, is in yourself.

Invest in more time.  Invest in less stress. Invest in greater security. That’s why four years ago we created the Purposeful Investing Course (PI) because when it comes to finances, there are only three reasons why we should invest.  We invest for income.  We invest to resell our investments for more than we had invested.  We invest to make our world a better place.

We should not invest for fun, excitement or to get rich quick, or in a panic due to market corrections.

The core model portfolio we teach in the PI Course rarely changes, but is highly diversified in thousands of shares around the world… so there is higher long term profits, less stress and greater safety.

The portfolio consists of 19 country ETFs.  During the four years since we created the Purposeful Investing Course and set up a $40,000 real time portfolio at Motif Brokers, we have held the same 19 shares and have only traded three times.

The portfolio started with $40,000 and has risen to $53,591 ($49,015 in shares and the balance in accumulated cash).

The portfolio did really well from 2015 to 2018, better than the DJI Index.  Then as the US dollar grew in strength it fell behind.

The chart below shows the actual results of thos portfolio compared with the S&P 500.

motif

This good value portfolio above is based entirely on good value financial information and mathematically based safety programs developed around investing models that date back 91 and 24 years.

The Pifolio is a theoretical portfolio of MSCI Country Benchmark Index ETFs that cover all the good value markets developed combining my 50 years of investing experience with study of the mathematical market value analysis of Keppler Asset Management.

In my opinion, Keppler is one of the best market statisticians in the world.  Numerous very large fund managers, such as State Street Global Advisers, use his analysis to manage over $2.5 billion of funds.

The Pifolio analysis begins with Keppler who continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each major stock market’s history.

Fwd: keppler

Michael Kepler CEO Keppler Asset Management.

Michael is a brilliant mathematician.  We have tracked his analysis for over 20 years.   He continually researches international major stock markets and compares their value based on current book to price, cash flow to price, earnings to price, average dividend yield, return on equity and cash flow return.  He compares each stock market’s history.  From this, he develops his Good Value Stock Market Strategy and rates each market as a Buy, Neutral or Sell market.  His analysis is rational, mathematical and does not cause worry about short term ups and downs.  Keppler’s strategy is to diversify into an equally weighted portfolio of the MSCI Indices of each BUY market.

This is an easy, simple and effective approach to zeroing in on value because little time, management and guesswork is required.  You are investing in a diversified portfolio of good value indices.

A BUY rating for an index does NOT imply that any stock in that country is an attractive investment, so you do not have to spend hours of research aimed at picking specific shares.  It is not appropriate or enough to instruct a stockbroker to simply select stocks in the BUY rated countries.  Investing in the index is like investing in all the shares in the index.  You save time because all you have to do is invest in the ETF to gain the profit potential of the entire market.

To achieve this goal of diversification the Pifolio consists of Country Index ETFs.

Country Index ETFs are similar to an index mutual fund but are shares normally traded on a major stock exchange that tracks an index of shares in a specific country.  ETFs do not try to beat the index they represent.  The management is passive and tries to emulate the performance of the index.

A country ETF provides diversification into a basket of equities in the country covered.  The expense ratios for most ETFs are lower than those of the average mutual fund as well so such ETFs provide diversification and cost efficiency.

Here is the Pifolio I personally use.

70% is diversified into Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) developed markets: Australia, Austria, France, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

30% of the Pifolio is invested in Keppler’s good value (BUY rated) emerging markets: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The Pifolio consists of iShares ETFs that invested in each of the MSCI indicies of theseall good value BUY markets.

For example, the iShares MSCI Australia (symbol EWA) is a Country Index ETF that tracks the investment results the Morgan Stanley Capital Index MSCI Australia Index which is composed mainly of large cap and small cap stocks traded primarily on the Australian Stock Exchange mainly of companies in consumer staples, financials and materials. This ETF is non-diversified outside of Australia.

iShares is owned by Black Rock, Inc. the world’s largest asset manager with over $4 trillion in assets under management.

The fact that the Pifilios are invested in all the shares of the MSCI Index in each good value market reduces long term risk.

When the US stock market bull ends, know one knows for sure how long or how severe the correction will be.

When the bear arrives, what will happen to global and especially good value markets?

No  one knows the answer to this question.

What we do know is that the equally weighted, good value market Pifolios have the greatest potential long term and that math based trailing stops can be used to protect against a secular global stock market correction when it comes.

My fifty years of global investing experience helps take advantage of numerous long term cycles that are part of the universal math that affects all investments.

What you get when you subscribe to Pi.

You immediately receive a 120 page basic training course that teaches the Pi Strategy.   You learn all the Pi strategies, what they are, how to use them and what each can do for you, your lifestyle and investing.

You also begin receiving regular emailed Pifiolio updates and online access to all the Pifolio updates of the last four years.  Each update examines the current activity in a Pifolio, how it is changing, why and how the changes might help your investing or not.

Included in the basic training is an additional 120 page PDF value analysis of 46 stock markets (23 developed markets and 23 emerging stock markets).  This analysis looks at the price to book, price to earnings, average yield and much more.

You also receive two special reports.

In the 1980s, a remarkable set of two economic circumstances helped anyone who spotted them become remarkably rich.  Some of my readers made enough to retire.  Others picked up 50% currency gains.  Then the cycle ended.  Warren Buffett explained the importance of this ending in a 1999 Fortune magazine interview.  He said:  Let me summarize what I’ve been saying about the stock market: I think it’s very hard to come up with a persuasive case that equities will over the next 17 years perform anything like—anything like—they’ve performed in the past 17!

I did well then, but always thought, “I should have invested more!”  Now those circumstances have come together and I am investing in them again.

The circumstances that created fortunes 30 years ago were an overvalued US market (compared to global markets) and an overvalued US dollar.  The two conditions are in place again!

30 years ago, the US dollar rose along with Wall Street.  Profits came quickly over three years.  Then the dollar dropped like a stone, by 51%  in just two years.  A repeat of this pattern is growing and could create up to 50% extra profit if we start using strong dollars to accumulate good value stock market ETFs in other currencies.

This is the most exciting opportunity I have seen since we started sending our reports on international investing ideas more than three decades ago.  The trends are so clear that I have created a short, but powerful report “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More.”   This report shows how to earn an extra 50% from currency shifts with even small investments.  I kept the report short and simple, but included links to 153 pages of  Good Value Stock Market research and Asset Allocation Analysis.

The report shows 20 good value investments and a really powerful tactic that shows the most effective and least expensive way to accumulate these bargains in large or even very small amounts (less than $5,000).  There is extra profit potential of at least 50% so the report is worth a lot.

This report sells for $29.95 but in this special offer, you receive the report, “Three Currency Patterns for 50% Profits or More” FREE when you subscribe to Pi.

Plus get the $39.95 report “The Silver Dip” free.

With investors watching global stock markets bounce up and down, many missed two really important profit generating events over the last two years.  The price of silver dipped below $14 an ounce as did shares of the iShares Silver ETF (SLV).   The second event is that the silver gold ratio hit 80, compared to a ratio of 230 only two years before.

In September 2015, I prepared a special report “Silver Dip 2015” about a silver speculation, leveraged with a British pound loan, that could increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.  The tactics described in that report generated 62.48% profit in just nine months.

I have updated this report and “Silver Dip” report shares the latest in a series of long term lessons gained through 40 years of speculating and investing in precious metals.  I released the 2015 report, when the gold silver ratio slipped to 80.  The ratio has corrected and that profit has been taken and now a new precious metals dip has emerged.

I have prepared a new special report “Silver Dip” about a leveraged speculation that can increase the returns in a safe portfolio by as much as eight times.

Ecuador Christmas Eve

Here is an Ecuador Christmas Eve Thought for All.

One great part of Christmas in Ecuador… especially in the Ecuador villages is less commercialization of Christmas.

Ecuador-Christmas

The Cathedral next to Meson de las Flores, gets busy during the Holiday season at Ecuador’s Christmas… not the stores.

We wish you three ideals of all Christmas… wherever you live… whoever you are… whatever you do.

Ecuador-Christmas

Cotacachi Cathedral at…

Ecuador-Christmas

dawn.

Tomorrow’s holiday, celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. The thoughts in this holiday are so rich in inspiration that everyone can gain blessings from these regardless of culture, religion or creed.

To see this, may I share three stories of Jesus given by those from other religions and cultures that have been meaningful to me?

Ecuador-Christmas

Cotacachi Cathedral in the…

Ecuador-Christmas

middle of the day.

The first story came from an Ecuador Yatchak and reminded me of the ideal “That we are eternal.” This belief was fortified many years ago when an Andean shaman and I discussed the concepts of life and death.  When I made  mention of death, he replied quite sharply. “Do you not see? There is no death,” he said. “Did you not listen to the message from Jesus?”

Ecuador-Christmas

Cotacachi Cathedral at dusk.

A Huron Indian carol reminded me that wisdom was not contained in just South America’s history.

This carol touched my heart by sharing the ideals that there is always hope and renewal in an Indian way.

Twas in the moon of winter time

when all the birds had fled,

The mighty Gitchimanitou

sent angels choirs instead.

Before the light the stars grew dim

and wandering hunters heard the hymn

Jesus your King is born,

Your king is born.

Within a lodge of broken bark

The tender babe was found

A ragged robe of rabbit skin

Enwrapped his beauty round

The chiefs from afar before him knelt

With gifts of fox and beaver pelt.

Oh children of the forest free

O sons of Manitou

The holy child of earth and heaven

Is born today for you.

Come kneel before the radiant boy

Who brings you beauty, peace and joy.

Ecuador-Christmas

You can see that the Cathedral  seen from Mt. Cotacachi dominates the village.

An even more ancient poem reminds me that the influence of Jesus.

I was reminded of the third ideal, that we are always cared for if we place our lives with God, when reading the 14th century Sufi (Islamic) poet Rumi. His beautiful poem reminds us of the wisdom shown in Matthew 6:24: Jesus says, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Here is Rumi’s poem:  Lovers think they’re looking for each other, but there’s only one search: wandering this world is wandering that, both inside one, transparent sky. In here there is no dogma and no heresy. The miracle of Jesus is himself, not what he said or did about the future. Forget the future. I’d worship someone who could do that. On the way you may want to look back, or not. But of you can say, there’s nothing ahead, there will be nothing there. Stretch your arms and take hold the cloth of your clothes with both hands. The cure for pain is in the pain. Good and bad are mixed. If you don’t have both, you don’t belong with us. When one of us gets lost, is not here, he must be inside us. There‘s no place like that anywhere in the world. RUMI

Ecuador-Christmas

Cotacachi Cathedral at night.

May all of us, regardless of religion, race or creed, focus on the greatest Christmas ideal of all: “Peace on earth and goodwill to all.”

Ecuador Rose Deadline

The Ecuador rose deadline for Christmas Ecuador roses is noon EST today December 15, 2009.

Ecuador-roses

Here is an Ecuador Rose Bowl.

You can order New Year roses for another week.

Merri and I love our Ecuador roses when they are fresh. Here are some in our dining room.

Ecuador-roses

We use several Ecuador rose tricks to get the most, longest, bang out of their beauty as well.

Here are two longevity tips for your roses from Ecuador.

Ecuador Rose Tip #1: Once the roses begin to sag (usually seven to nine days when properly cared for), in North Carolina, I hang them upside down and let them dry.

Ecuador-roses

Here are some Ecuador roses drying in our kitchen. They are a wonderful decoration while drying and…

Ecuador-roses

the dried Ecuador roses make excellent dried rose bouquets… like these two bouquets of Ecuador roses at the entrance of our home.

Ecuador-roses

Ecuador Rose Tip #2: In Florida, where the humidity makes it harder to dry our Ecuador roses, I create Ecuadorian rose bowls!

Ecuador-roses

I simply pull off the heads off the limp Ecuador roses and arrange them in a bowl. They look great decorating our kitchen counter or dining room table… like this.
Ecuador-roses

Our Ecuador rose supplier has extended the deadline until noon today December 15, to order Christmas roses from Ecuador.
