Ecuador Exports Update

Ecuador exports include arts and crafts from the Cotacachi and Otavalo area.

Our upcoming Ecuador exports tour visits these areas as well as San Antonio and Peguche briefly so delegates can learn possibilities for starting a business exporting the Ecuador arts and crafts from these areas.

During the Ecuador export tours delegates meet  little known producers in Cotacachi and close by,

Here a sculptor at the Fuentes Brothers workshop delicately chisels a Christs head.

The same skills used to carve amazing artistic pieces are also applied to more practical products such as this furniture below.

P1020186

San Antonio and Quito are two centers of furniture production

P1030001

We visit the workshop of Jose Cotacachi. A delegate poses alongside Jose after purchasing the center wall hanging.

Since the Ecuador export tour does not have time to visit all the producers we invite them to put on an exhibition at Meson de las Flores.

When word gets out that an exposition artisans come from all parts of the area.

Here are a few who regularly appear.

Artist Montero produces exquisite watercolors for as little as $25 such as those below

The crafts people also play and dance during supper – using the very same hand made instruments, such as charangos, a small guitar-like instrument, which used to be made using armadillo shells.

Now they are no longer made like that here in Ecuador because armadillos are an endangered species.

Our Ecuador export tour helps those interested in creating earning abroad and is our first tour of 2010.

You may well wonder why I would make such an offer and ask why the cost is so low? Let me answer this question frankly and from the heart.

First, it helps us do a better job for you. We feel greatly enriched when we can really help our clients improve their lives. We have learned through years of experience the best way to do this is to meet with you regularly. We can best help you learn how to improve your health and wealth through continual expansion of knowledge.

Second, we gain enormous fulfillment from the many friendships we form through the years. Our friends have enriched our lives tremendously. Let me explain this in more detail.

As a member, you will be part of our international family that meets intensively over the next year to examine ways we can make our lives better. Our goal is beyond just having money. Our goal is to have quantum wealth… good health… wealth and fulfillment through service.

Though I give all course delegates my very best, I cannot help but to do a better job for those who come again and again. As we meet often; your particular wants, needs and desires become clear, and it is easier for me to point you in the right direction.

Another phenomenon is that repeat delegates help each other! They get to know one another, help each other learn, share their insights, make contacts and gain more wealth.

Out associates in Ecuador, are experienced business people who live or work and conduct our real estate and export courses.  They can also act as your local backup for the business.

Lifestyle for Two. There is more! I have learned at my courses that many repeat delegates were couples.

We want couples! As a member of the program, you are entitled to bring another person to every single course or tour. The cost for that extra person will be ZERO!  You can bring whomever you wish. Bring your spouse, a friend, son or daughter, partner, accountant, adviser. You can bring the same person each time or a different person, whomever you choose to accompany you. (Accommodations and air fares relating to the courses are not included for members, delegates or their guests.)

Won’t you join us in this exciting club and share Merri’s and my lifestyle for the next year? We look forward to seeing you at as many courses as possible and sharing this wonderful world of abundance and well being with you!

Cotacachi Shaman Thinking

Change, though often feared, is our friend because it opens fields of opportunity… if we can trust our intuition and integrate it with our logic.

ecuador-shamans

Here are photos I took on our last shamanic tour.

Without change, we could never progress.

Problems arise when our thought process resists rather than embraces change.  Combining our logic and intuition assures that this is less likely to happen.

Our Ecuador course on Super Thinking helps delegates learn how to absorb, retain and recall more information.  This helps improve our logic.

Delegates at a previous Ecuador Super Thinking plus Spanish course we conducted in Cotacachi.

Yet to go beyond logic we need to combine our thinking with intuition.

internet-business-intuition

Many Ecuador shamans and shamanas teach the Eagle & Condo Prophesy… a time will come when the eagle and condor fly in the skies together.   Many believe that the eagle represents logic and the condor intuition.  The prophesy says that sharing of indigenous knowledge with the technologies of science will help balance mankind.

One way to blend intuition and thinking is through intellectual gaming.

A game is a structured activity, with a set of rules. This is important… because when we game… we can create a set of rules that is beyond the norm… outside the box of logic…  so our information processing and decision making can escape the tyranny of reason.

Gaming is usually undertaken for enjoyment.  This makes gaming important as well.  When we do something fun… without risk…we do it better.  We can let our imagination soar so we can see eventualities in enjoyable, non threatening ways.

Games are formalized expressions of play which allow people to go beyond their immediate imagination and direct physical activity to see life’s potential in different ways.

When games eliminate play… they lose impact… thus the demise of professional sports which are no longer games… but business.

Gaming allows us to use disambiguation in resolving future conflicts.  This is because our future is always ambiguous… even if we think not.   Our life can take any number of  paths that lead in different directions… at any time.

This leaves us asking, “What should I do?”

Gaming allows us to create a set of out-of-the-box rules that direct us in ways we would never logically reach but can imagine.  Because it is fun and without threat… we can see future opportunity in numerous expanded ways.

One way we can game is to form ideas from our intuition. Then we apply the game’s set of rules that change the circumstances of the idea.

There are two ways to let our intuition to kick in.

One way is to let outward events kick start our intuition… such as spotting birds.

Recently I mentioned how I use the heron as an intuition initiator.

Other birds are meaningful to me also.  Doves, for example, are a sign of “Thinning the veil”.  “Crows represent “Magic & Creation.”  These concepts represent archetypes that we can apply in an out-of-the box game.

internet-business-intuition

One game that the Ecuador shamans taught us to play to increase and trust our intuition is to hike steep trails with our eyes closed.  This is the first time we received this lesson when Merri and I along with our friend, Dr. Jay Glaser, and several others hiked into the sacred Llanganatis Valley in Ecuador.  This was a narrow trail on a steep edge. What a game!

Merri and I have found Vedic Astrology an incredible help when it comes to making decisions that we cannot make with logic.

For example when our daughter Elle graduated from University in London with a degree in dramatic arts. Her question to Merri and me was “Should I go for a career in singing or go on and get a teacher’s certificate in Physical Education?” (She is a superb athlete as well as an aspiring singer.)

We all agreed that becoming a singer is a long shot. Teaching is safe. But we knew that her passion is to shoot for being a star. So how would she feel in later life if she didn’t try?

So Merri had Blaine Watson, our Vedic astrologer check her Vedic chart. The astrologer knew nothing about Elle but said at that time she had just moved into a cycle for three years when her best thing would be the performing arts, entertaining, etc. That was enough to convince us. “Go for it”, we said and we encouraged her. “You’re young, try it for three years and if this does not work then, let’s look again”.

Within a week she was picked as a backup singer with a popular English rock group.

Her first gig was before 4,000 fans! In the ensuing year she was able to meet many of her rock star heroes as work associates. This was an incredible experience for her, but as mentioned the entertainment business is a long shot. Some stars may become rich but backing vocals…so she had to work elsewhere to survive. Her “make money” jobs included handing out pamphlets, selling credit cards by phone and teaching dance at a franchised performing arts school called “Stagecoach”.

She enjoyed this experience enormously and cut a couple of great CDs with a group. Then she began to tire of being poor and looked around for a better way to enhance her wealth.  Her teaching job at Stagecoach led her to look at owning a school and at the ripe age of 23, she took the plunge.

May I say with due respect that Eleanor is the last child that we ever thought would be a business woman. No logic could have shown us this.

ecuador-shamans

On many of our shamanic tours we visit Quicocha Lake for a shamanic ceremony.

Our daughter  approached this business with incredible discipline and dramatically expanded the school. In her first year her profits were in six figures. Her second year took her well into six figures. Today at 26 she lives in a very expensive home on the River Thames. She has a new car, new kitchen, everything she wants and an income in the top 5% of the world.

Had anyone suggested that Eleanor could or would have traveled this path, all of us who knew would have laughed. Her success has been beyond logic!

ecuador-shamans

Alberto Verdezoto (in purple) leads the tour with…

The yatchak and…

his wife.

Yet we supported our daughter’s success based on the realization that every moment there are possibilities that our logic just cannot see but that Vedic Astrology can. The inability to measure the results of astrology used to bother me enormously until years ago I read an article about Aristotle Onassis, the ultra rich Greek shipping magnate. He gave the secret of being a billionaire that helped me look beyond my logic.

“Certainly one does not need an astrologist to become a millionaire.” Then he quickly added that “to become a billionaire, it is essential.” This statement was made long ago when being a billionaire was pretty darn rare.

Onassis’ statement really struck a chord with me as my many years of residence in Hong Kong had exposed me to many businessmen who looked beyond logic. I heeded the astrological advice because the Chinese are very into what some might consider offbeat and unreal thinking, but there were more billionaires per capita in Hong Kong than anywhere else in the world!

In fact the more I thought about this, the more it made sense. To make billions one has to take enormous risks and see a big picture far into an invisible future.

We all have to make some decisions based on events we cannot totally predict, but successful billionaires make huge decisions based on enormous unknowns. It requires incredible faith to take incredible risks. None of us can see the whole picture but Astrology, albeit vaguely, helps us see the biggest picture of all. This did not matter for me anyway, as I do not use astrology as a predictive system.  I find the data extremely useful gets me to think outside the box.

ecuador-shamans

This is a fun ceremony filled with…

ecuador-shamans

beauty.

As international investors, we are forced to deal with forces beyond our understanding and control. We must find simple ways to make decisions about complicated problems, knowing that many of the facts are unknown.   We have to deal with the future in terms of our past experience.

Astrology presents a “what if” that pushes our thought process beyond past experience and encourages us to think in new ways to deal with future events.

This has nothing to do with the supernatural. This is just another simple way to add an extra dimension into your process of thought.

Cotacachi Shamanic Tour

We are repeating our Beyond Logic & Cotacachi Shamanic Tour this December 6, 7 and 8, 2009 because the most successful thoughts come from Beyond Logic.

This may be why the Beyond Logic & Cotacachi Shamanic tour has been one of the must successful of our 2009 tours. Due to this demand we are repeating this course… plus adding optional Andean real estate plus a free Christmas shopping extension for December 2009.

The Ecuadorian shamanic thinking process can help us learn how to advance and prosper during this economic downturn.   Three shamanic lessons below show why. These lessons are outlined in a moment.

First may I introduce the course “Beyond Logic” conducted by Blaine Watson this December 2009.

Because the last Beyond Logic course was one of our most popular this year, we have added a three day ‘Beyond Logic” Course to be conducted in Cotacachi December 6, 7 and 8, 2009.   Ecuador Andean and coastal real estate tours will follow (more on this in a moment).

The first two days will be conducted by Blaine Watson. Here he is conducting a course here in North Carolina. He is in our teaching kitchen because nutrition is part of the course.

ecuador-shaman

Blaine’s portion of the program includes a personal reading (one per single or couple – a second reading is extra) based on your time, day and place of birth. We’ll get your birth time in advance so he can bring your chart with him. You’ll have your reading either after the course or later by phone.

Here is the course schedule.

Day One. Sunday…Dec. 6, 2009 – Blaine Watson

A detailed description of the 12 signs, the 9 planets and their significations and the 12 houses, how they come into being and the significations of each one, as the basis for interpreting the horoscope and making predictions.

Day Two. Monday…Dec. 7, 2009 – Blaine Watson

In-depth analysis of the of the planets and how to interpret and predict from their placements in the 12 signs and the 12 houses.

Day Three. Tuesday…Dec. 8, 2009 – Quantum Lessons from the Yatchaks. Delegates will visit a sacred valley near our village for a shamanic mingo…just beyond this field.

We’ll hike in (but can also bring those who desire to come by truck) here…

You can enroll in Beyond Logic here.

Here are the three shamanic lessons.

Recessions and depressions destroy many investors and businesses. Yet these times of cleansing are also the breeding ground for the next group of extreme rich.

Why do some succeed when so many fail?

They have different ways of thinking…gaining energy and seeing beyond the accepted logic.

No one can see the future. It is hard to be energetic and forward moving in tough times. Perhaps this is why only a few become rich and healthy.

The thought process, processing knowledge and natural health have always fascinated me as have the legends of Old Ones the “Abuelos” who live high in the Andes hiding sacred knowledge for longevity, high energy and success.

Merri and I were so intrigued that we bought Hacienda Rosaspamba, high in the Andes and lived with a Taita Yatchak and his apprentices to learn more.

Here is the hacienda and the view we enjoyed each day as we rose.

Ecuador-hacienda

The Taita Yatchak invited Merri and me to hike into the mists and clouds of the Llanganatis, the sacred valley, which legends say contain hidden Incan gold. I suspect the gold is golden knowledge…not the yellow metal!

To find out, and learn more on how to think for true success…in health and wealth, we invited friends, two MDs and a Sanskrit scholar to hike in with us. Here we are, on top of the world, starting that trek.

ecuador-shaman

The first shamanic lesson was to trust our inner vision. The picture below shows Merri and me with Dr. Jay Glaser an MD, Ayurvedic physician and Sanskrit scholar overlooking the sacred LLanganatis Valley.

Here is how we learned this lesson. The yatchak put us on a path like above. Told us to look ahead. Then close our eyes and walk the path. “Trust your inner vision,” he said.

ecuador-shaman

Here we are with the Yatchak in the jungle during that hike.

picture one

The second shamanic lesson was to purify oneself from the outside in and the inside out at the same time. Be pure in eating, action and thought. Always keep cleansing…mind and body.

For example, we stayed in an open air hut during our time in the LLanganatis. The mists there have negative ions that neutralize free radicals in the skin.

Here we are with the Yatchak and our friends at the hut.

ecador-shaman-entire-crew

We brought a Sanskrit expert because the Andean language is based on Sanskrit, a language from India. What made this tidbit special was that we were already studying Ayurved, the Indian science of life…health…pure thought.

We learned for example that the name “Llanganatis” is linked to Indian philosophy. Llanganatis means “Repeated Sacred Action” (the Sanskrit word is Yagya). This led us to a third shamanic lesson…”See beyond logic”.

This helped Merri and me understand how to use Vedic Astrology to see a bigger picture beyond logic. The Indians were able to maintain their ancient wisdom in a more refined and usable way than the Andeans, mainly because the Spanish destroyed most of the Andean Quipos, (knotted cords of different colors used by the ancients to store knowledge).

We learned to integrate the wisdom we have gained from India and the Andes to think and act Beyond Logic.

Our astrologer is Blaine Watson who has been an incredible help when it comes to making decisions that we cannot process just with logic. Blaine is an expert in the wisdom from India and Ayurved.

For example, our daughter Elle graduated from University in London with a degree in dramatic arts. Her question to Merri and me was “Should I go for a career in singing or go on and get a teacher’s certificate in Physical Education?” (She was a superb athlete as well as an aspiring singer.)

We all agreed that becoming a singer was a long shot. Teaching was safe. But we knew that her passion was to shoot for being a star. How would she feel in later life if she didn’t try?

We had Blaine check her Vedic chart. He knew nothing about Elle but said at that time she had just moved into a cycle for three years when her best thing would be the performing arts, entertaining, etc. That was enough to convince us. “Go for it”, we said and encouraged her.

Within a week she was picked as a backup singer with Modern Romance, a popular English rock group with many top hits in the UK including the theme song from the movie, “Shrek”.

Her first gig was before 4,000 fans! In the ensuing year she met many of her rock star heroes as work associates. This was an incredible experience for her and led her to buying a franchised performing arts school called Stagecoach, where see now earns hundreds of thousands a year.

May I say with due respect that Eleanor is the last child that we ever thought would be a business woman. No logic could have shown us this. Yet she approached this business with incredible discipline and dramatically expanded the school. In her first year her profits were in six figures. Her second year took her well into six figures. Today at 27 she lives in a very expensive home on the River Thames. She has a new car, new kitchen, everything she wants and an income in the top 5% of the world.

Her success has been beyond logic!

Yet we supported this success based on the realization that every moment there are possibilities that our logic just cannot see. Vedic Astrology helped us tap into a bigger picture.

The inability to measure the results of astrology used to bother me enormously until years ago I read an article about Aristotle Onassis, the ultra rich Greek shipping magnate. He gave the secret of being a billionaire that helped me look beyond my logic. “Certainly one does not need an astrologist to become a millionaire.” Then he quickly added that “to become a billionaire, it is essential.”

Onassis’ statement really struck a chord with me as my many years of residence in Hong Kong had exposed me to many businessmen who looked beyond logic. I heeded the astrological advice because the Chinese businessmen are often considered superstitious due to their belief in astrology. Some might consider their sight beyond logic, offbeat and unreal, but there were more billionaires per capita in Hong Kong than anywhere else in the world!

The more I thought about this, the more it made sense.

During economic downturns, times seem even more uncertain. Previous history is of little use so these deeper, more subtle ways of processing information become even more important.

This may be why one of our most popular courses we offer is conducted by Blaine Watson, our Vedic Astrologer. Many of our readers also use Blaine and rave about him.

During times of contraction…those who profit most are those who expand…but in the correct way. This course “Beyond Logic” can help you think better, have more energy, natural health and purity to pursue your inner vision, that sees a bigger picture of health and wealth for all.

I invite you to join Blaine Watson for

New Quito Ecuador Airport

A new Quito Ecuador airport is scheduled to open in 2010 to replace the current Mariscal Sucre airport.

On the subject of Mariscal Sucre airport, this is one of the nicest emerging market airports Merri and I have ever used. Clean carpeted jetports take you to a shiny marble clad, rose decorated immigration area where the officers politely and efficiently welcome you to Ecuador . Baggage arrives promptly and customs rarely looks at your baggage. We are often from the deplane to our waiting van in less than 30 minutes. The entire process is quiet, well organized and the baggage handlers treat us well.

The new nearly 4,000 acre airport scheduled to open next year we expect to be even better. Because it is about 45 minutes closer to Cotacachi, this adds some great opportunity for real estate in our area now. We look at this in our real estate tour. See below.

The new airport scheduled to open in 2010 is about 15 miles east of Quito and that much closer (about an hour of travel saved) to our province. This airport will sit at about 7,500 feet altitude compared to Quito ’s 9,500. This lower altitude and elimination of noise reduction procedures (due to being away from town) means larger loads can arrive and take off.

Learn more about the new Quito airport here.

On all our tours, we meet all delegates arriving the day before the tour when they arrive at Quito airport. We hope to meet you in Ecuador!

Early Retirement in Ecuador

Early retirement in Ecuador has several attractions… because of Ecuador’s wonderful people.

One attraction to early retirement in Ecuador is a labor pool that offers much more than just low cost.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Merri and I know the value of Ecuador’s people and how they can help early retirement in Ecuador. Here I am with the manager of  Meson de las Flores.   He is an incredible person whom we trust totally.  The staff loves him.

According to a recent USA Today article,  When 1,097 Americans 45 and older were surveyed last December, 9% of them said they had lost their jobs in the past 12 months, and 31% of workers that age said that it is very likely that jobs will be eliminated this year, according to AARP’s 2009 report.

Baby Boomers also are out of work longer than younger Americans. Last year, they were out of work 22 weeks on average, compared with 15 weeks for the 20- to 24-year-old age group, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

They may find it hard to get a new job because they’ve had higher salaries. And that means they may have a higher threshold before they’re willing to take another job, says Maria Heidkamp, a senior project manager at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University.

But they also may be rusty about applying for a job, and their skills may be out of date, she says.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Our two chefs (Santiago and Alberto) at Meson are  a fraction the cost of a US or Canadian chef but do an incredible job. We continually get raves about the delicious food at the hotel.

One person quoted in the article had lost several jobs in information technology because his employers thought his work could be done more cheaply outside the USA and he saw his money slowly flittering away.”  He took a minimum wage job at a car rental firm, to just keep up with bills but then even lost that job.

The article said that even workers who thought they had planned perfectly and saved enough for their retirement are refocusing.

There are two seeds of an Ecuador early retirement idea that takes advantage of early retirement in Ecuador or anywhere that offers lower cost living.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Everyone tells how caring our food servers (Eduardo and Consuelo).  They always remember what you want and how you like it. They really do care about your happiness.

The first seed is that labor costs are lower outside the USA and that labor is very willing to work.   Perhaps the man in Ecuador could take early retirement in Ecuador and start a business that takes advantage of this good low labor cost.

He could turn his problem into an opportunity and take advantage of  Ecuador’s labor pool to start an information technology business that serves his former bosses, and others like him in the US, who let him go.

Early retirement in Ecuador or any country with a good pool of workers can turn one of our great disadvantages into an advantage.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Our cleaning staff are the two…

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Rositas (Rosita Molena and Rosita de la Torres).  They do much more than clean rooms.  They are the hotel mothers looking after all of us with love,  real nurturing, devotion, willingness and smiles.

The second seed is that the cost of living in Ecuador is low.  The high US and Canadian costs of  living make it harder to start a business.

Whether you are young or old,  there may be benefits of taking an early retirement in Ecuador.

Think outside the box and adapt to changing conditions.  Just 3 hours and 45 minutes south of  the USA is a pool of low cost, happy, hard working, earnest labor.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

Alberto Verdesoto (left leading our staff at a Quito seminar) looks after our delegates on tour.  He has over a decade in Ecuador tourism and is assisted by Mauricio Bonilla (below also), who is graduating with a degree in Business Tourism.

early-retirement-in-ecuador

An early retirement in Ecuador can benefit from Ecuador’s wonderful people.  They help make living pleasant and offer great skill, combined with genuine care and desire to serve at an affordable price.

Ecuador’s people can make your retirement more enjoyable, plus form the core of  a successful early retirement income.

Gary

Here is the typical praise we receive about our staff at Meson.

Merri:  Just thought you might like to know that Michael and I have enjoyed our two real estate tours, and feel like we have achieved our goal of an over-view of Ecuador and the available types of property.

Mauricio has really gone the extra mile to be helpful to us, and is a great asset to your team. His “can-do” attitude has enhanced our visit.

Alberto is always there with a smile and a hand to help me out of the bus, and I so appreciate the special attention, as I am a little wobbly on stairs.

Eduardo at Meson is another asset to your group and makes an extra effort to please.  The girls who serve the food there are also very nice.  Looking forward to meeting you and Gary, hopefully at the IBEZ Seminar in October or one of the upcoming Import/Export Tours… Thanks again.

Ecuador Export Idea

Here is an Ecuador export idea:

“Figure out how to sell your Ecuador exports before you buy.”

This is important because when you look at Ecuador exports you’ll find so many potential products…

ecuador-exports

Masipan for example can be made into almost any size shape form and color. The masipan here is made into dolls.

Ecuador flowers also offer incredible export potential.

ecuador-exports

As do leather products… like this made int art.

ecuador-exports

Plus their jewelry….

ecuador-exports

of every kind… unique…

ecuador-exports

and wonderful pottery products and silver… plus

ecuador-exports

so much more.

Our Ecuador Export Tours help you see many products to export from Ecuador  in the most efficient way… yet these tours also help you learn how to sell what you export.

For example our July Ecuador Export Tour will be led by Alberto Verdezoto… because his decade in the tourist industry means he knows how to get you from place to place in the safest, least expensive, fastest way.

However the tour will also be led by Maggie  Beesley.

A recent message introduced you to Maggie.  Last year she attended one of our Ecuador export courses and shares below how she sells her Ecuador exports.

ecuador-exports

Maggie writes:

Maggie and her Magical Red, Blue, Black, White, Sage, Beige, and Gray Capes” by Maggie Beesley.

In December of 2007, my husband and I fulfilled one of our life long dreams; that being of traveling to the Galapagos Islands.  Little did I know that trip would change my life forever.   After our visit to the islands, we  took a day trip to Otavalo, home of the largest outdoor indigenous market in all of South America.  At the market I purchased my Magical Ecuadorian Red Cape.  After returning home I was stopped so many times by people asking about the Red Cape…where had I had gotten it and could I get more? Gosh I would love to return to Ecuador and purchase more of the capes to sell to all those inquiring people…but that was just not going to happen.  Good dream though.

January 2008 I received an e mail from Gary Scott, telling me of an Import/Export Class to be held in Cotacachi, Ecuador.  To this day I still have no idea where Gary got my email address, but he did, and I did return to Ecuador to attend the Import/Export Class and of course purchase more of those Red Capes.  After attending the class, I knew I had found my passion, and needed to put this class to work for me. Gary talks a lot about recognizing your passion or passions. Mine are talking to people, traveling and shopping.  With that knowledge in place now, it was time to get busy developing Maggie’s Trips and Treasures. Before I began my shopping in Ecuador, I read every fashion magazine, looked through clothing catalogs, and watched what people were buying in my area of the United States.  I had to know my market.

After a year and a half of shopping and selling, I can say I am having the greatest time of my life. With each trip to Ecuador I meet the greatest people and buy the most unusual items. On my last two trips to Ecuador I have had the privilege of sharing my experiences with delegates like you while attending Import/Export classes.

The way I sell my Ecuador exports is to simply  always wear my red cape..not any other color. But I always keep  other colors of capes in the back of my car.

I wear it to restaurants, grocery store, court house…this was just this week and people simply stop me and ask we I got it.   I tell them and explain I have some in the car and sales are as simple as this.   No one can sell my treasures better than I can.  No one will be able to sell what you love as well as you can so always wear something you are selling.. That is best advertisement in the world.

I look forward to meeting, talking and shopping with all of you this July.

Maggie

Ecuador Crafts – After the Fall

Ecuador crafts can provide opportunity for three reasons we’ll review here.

Ecuador crafts people are excellent in the crafts business. they start and learn early on.

Ecuador-Crafts

Merri and I have returned to our North Carolina farm for spring planting.  The local wisdom is that lettuce, radishes, potatoes and  onions should be planted on Good Friday. Everything else goes in on Mother’s Day.

Things change slowly here in the mountains except the seasons.   Spring really does jump out quickly here.

One day the branches are bare. Next day there is a distinctive red blush as the buds have popped out seemingly overnight. You can see the red tinge in this shot I took from my office window yesterday.

ecuador-crafts

Saturday all we had in the lawn was green. Easter the dandelions were there.

ecuador-crafts

This makes me happy.   My favorites are the dandelion salad and the dandelion quinoa pancakes that Merri cooks for breakfast… topped with one of the great blue eggs that our hens lay.

Here’s my morning collection sitting on the kitchen counter…waiting!

ecuador-crafts

While out collecting those eggs a thought about change… the change that’s going on… in the Western world… in the entire world, popped into my mind.

Here is the thought.

Change comes suddenly… like the spring. One moment it’s not.  Then suddenly it is.  Yet really change isn’t sudden. The forces that created the dandelions and the tree buds have been at work for quite some time.  The physical manifestation that we see only seems sudden because we do not see the subtle shifts that are happening everyday that bring this explosion of apparent change.

Take for example, yesterday’s message that showed how America’s debt has been growing and the US dollar falling since 1969.

A further look at the graph from that message… with this new thought in mind… shows how the change really began in the 1940s… because since then… America has almost always been at war… the occupation… Korea… VietNam… the Cold War…  Iraq… twice.  Afganistan.

This huge cost… plus others (such as Social Security) have created continual change… though it may seem that we are just seeing the big shift now. deficit chart I have studied this change for 40 years. Just understanding the greenback’s fall has been enough to prosper… but this new thought crystallized an error.

I have been studying the fall of the Roman Empire to see what I could learn from the past about our change now.

Here is the error.  I should have been studying who succeeded… and how after the fall.

I will now study this and suspect here are a few of the rules that the Italians who thrived and prospered post Post Roman Empire.

#1: They accepted the change and did not bury their heads in the sand.

#2: They saw the change as an opportunity… and grasped it.

#3: They moved to or already were in safe places out of any battle zones.

#4: They did not display their wealth (the Latin habit to this day is to live within walled courtyards- modest outside- luxurious within).

#5: They took risks based on fundamental distortions created by those who did not embrace change.

#6: They were frugal.

#7: They were independent.

This type of thinking shows why Ecuador crafts make sense from a business point of view.

Shigra handbags made from agauve fibers and natural dyes.

Ecuador-Crafts

One way we can see change is in an article from Time Magzine entitled “Here’s to the Death of Broadcast” by James Poniewozik.  The article says:

When ER goes off the air April 2, we will say goodbye to more than the medical staffers who have lived, loved and been tragically killed off for sweeps over the years. We will also say goodbye to the era of broadcast TV it represented: the era of big shows, big audiences and big money.

In 1994, when ER debuted, NBC, CBS and ABC ruled TV. The fourth network, Fox, had no top-20 shows. Cable was flourishing but was hardly a threat. Only a handful of dorks (like me) were using “graphical user interfaces” like Netscape to look at something called the World Wide Web.

Fifteen years later, the networks are, as the TV docs say, crashing. In the 1994-95 season, 43% of U.S. households, on average, watched the Big Four at a given moment in prime time. Now it’s 27%.

Programmers and cultural critics are warning of the end of the mass-media era, when shows from I Love Lucy to Seinfeld joined tens of millions of Americans in a common experience.

Shigras in Otavalo Ecuador crafts market:

Ecuador-Crafts

As we shift from the era of broadcast to broadband, we’ll no longer have an entire population mesmerized by the same performers, programs and modes of thought.  Smaller unique businesses with quality products such as organic Ecuador crafts produced by individual crafts people will thrive.

Ecuador crafts include some great art like these religious reproductions.

Ecuador-Crafts

Ecuador crafts are perfect products positioned to sell well in the broadband era ahead… organic… authentic…colorful… exotic…useful and meaningful.

One does not have to be crafty to prosper from change… but many can prosper from more hand made crafts… from Ecuador or anywhere in the world.

Until next message, may you prosper from change.

Gary

In Ecuador we offer two 2-4-1 tours this May and June.

Economic downturn?

Yesterday’s New York Times article entitled “Jobless Rate Hits 8.5%; 663,000 Jobs Lost” said:

The unemployment rate reached its highest level in a quarter-century after 663,000 jobs were lost in March, the 15th consecutive month of job losses.

Yet our Ecuador and other businesses are expanding so fast that I can barely keep up. More and more readers are wanting to know… “How do you increase affluence like this when so many are losing it?”

This created the 2-4-1 concept that offers a special opportunity for you.

I cannot be in two places at once but I can make to possible for you to gain all the information I know and see what I am talking about for yourself by visiting Ecuador.

For example we have three Ecuador tours scheduled for May 2009.

Ecuador Coastal Real Estate Tour May 16-17

Imbabura-Cotacachi Real Estate Tour May 20-21

Ecuador Amazon Herbal Tour May 22-24

Merri and I will not be on these three tours and we do want to meet you. So to make sure we can meet, we will let you attend these either one of the May real estate tours free if you enroll in one of our three International Made EZ  courses, in July, October or November.

You get two courses for the price of one.  Enroll in any of these courses that Merri and I will conduct below and choose either May real estate tour free.

July 24-26 IBEZ North Carolina + Tangled Web

Oct. 9-11 IBEZ North Carolina + Tangled Web

Nov. 6-8  IBEZ Cotacachi + Tangled Web

There is no need to  hurry either. If you are not sure about attending two tours,  sign up and attend the real tour now… then we’ll knock the tour fee off our IBEZ Cotacachi + Tangled Web course fee later.

You can also still take advantage three course discount as well.

For example, if you choose to attend all three of the May tours… both real estate and the Amazon herbal tours, then you can attend our July, October or November course free.

You can see some options below.

These three May 2009 Ecuador real estate tours are hosted by Alberto Verdezoto (a long term friend and guide as well as an expert on herbal medicine from the Amazon) and our staff.

Studying Ecuador herbs is fun.

You see them regularly in Native Ecuador markets are ancient rites of human endeavor. Meetings like this one high in the Ecuador Andes have taken place almost since civilization began as have imports and exports. I closed my eyes and felt the energy, the deep, inner excitement that marketplaces bring and how they thrill. Such wonderful agitation! Ecuadorian men and women, different religions, cultures and ages. People from near and far. Explosions of color. Mutterings and hawking in Quichua, Spanish, and occasional English working their babble of exchange. Ecuadorian babies bobbing on mother’s backs, children working, playing and racing among the stalls. Adults serious in their cares. Explosions of sights, smells and sounds create this purposeful cacophony true to only one mission, to trade and sell, import, export!

Exploring the markets is a great way to see Amazon herbs but the best way to know them is to actually visit the marker.

So for years we have been helping readers go to the Amazon and learn how they are actually grown.

Alberto Verdezoto (a long term friend and guide as well as an expert on herbal medicine from the Amazon) will guide a tour to the Amazon and the Flora Sana finca this May.

There are many more Ecuador export products in the Flora Sana line.

We are working with Alberto to obtain dealers for these products.

This line has special interest in the health food supplement field. Take the Dulcamaras range for example.

Merri and I have enormous energy vitality and enthusiasm, running the farm and our publishing business. Many are amazed at what we get done. At a time when many are thinking retirement, we feel we are just getting started. Plus despite our heavy work load and travel schedule we seem to be getting younger…yet this is a time when many of our friends are rapidly deteriorating both in energy and appearance.

We feel that one reason is that we regularly take the Dulcamaras food supplement which is a pure Amazonian plant extract. When we began using this product years ago, one MD told us that he used this plant extract to help his cancer patients. The doctor explained that Dulcamaras is not a cancer cure but so enhances the immune system that many patients cure themselves. He explained that many of his patients also used Dulcamaras to enhance their vitality and that it has anti-aging qualities that could be enjoyed.

We decided to try it ourselves. After a couple of days we felt tiredness but then found ourselves feeling more energy. My weight started dropping. Muscle mass and skin tone built though we did not add any new exercises.

We began sharing Dulcamaras extract years ago with a few of our friends and heard back similar stories from those who were well. From others we heard incredible stories.

We read a medical study from the University of Miami Medical School entitled “INDUCTION OF CASPASE-MEDIATED APOPTOSIS AND INHIBITION OF PROSTATE TUMOR GROWTH AND METASTASIS BY A PLANT EXTRACT”.

The study was done by Deven S. Dandekar1*, Vinata B. Lokeshwar1, Edwin Cevallos. 2, and Bal L. Lokeshwar1. 1Dept. of Urology and Sylvester Cancer Center, Univ. of Miami, Miami, Fl. 2Tumor Institute, Quito, Ecuador. *d.dandekar@miami.edu

The study began “INTRODUCTION: Most cancer drugs are derived from plants and many more are yet to be discovered (1). An orally active, aqueous plant extract (Dulcamara sp) was tested for its anti-tumor properties on prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.”

The conclusion of that study was that the Dulcamaras extract tested was a potent orally active anti-neoplastic agent, which primarily affects caspase-mediated apoptosis and inhibits metastasis by inhibition of hyaluronidase, an ECM-degrading enzyme implicated in tumor angiogenesis and metastasis.

We saw one friend with Lymphoma have a miraculous cure in 18 days. Another who was quadriplegic with MS had such a recovery that she can now stand alone. But mostly the stories were about feeling better, having more energy, sex drive, clearer mind, strength, endurance and feeling and looking younger.

Dulcamaras has great potential to be of assistance in diseases in which the immune system is implicated as a contributing factor. The medical doctor in Ecuador has gathered data which indicates possible value in conditions of over active and under active immune system such as AIDS, Allergic States, Colitis, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Hepatitis, and Lupus like diseases.

We do not believe that Dulcamaras is a panacea and it is not intended to diagnosis, treat or cure any condition nor should it be viewed as a substitute for orthodox medical treatments. But it is a powerful plant-derived nutritional supplement which may safely be used for longevity, more energy and better health plus as a complementary treatment to assist the body’s natural healing processes.

Here is more about Ecuador Dulcamaras Export Opportunity.

Common names: Donkey Ears, Life Plant.

Scientific Name: Kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri Raym.-Hamet & H. Perrier

Synonym: Bryophyllum gastonis-bonnieri

Family: Crassulaceae

Origin of the Plant:

Kalanchoe or Bryophyllum gastonis bonnieri is originated from Madagascar . It was known and used as a medicine by the ancient Egyptians. The plant was brought to the Amazon during the time of the rubber boom at the end of the 19th century.

The Dulcamara plants used to make Flora Sana natural products are organically grown in their gardens located on the left bank of the Puyo river, next to the Amazonian town of Puyo, the capital of the Pastaza province, in Ecuador. A plant takes 6 to 8 months to mature and be ready for harvest.

The plant is then used to make tinctures and creams.

The Flora Sana Dulcamara Tincture is used here in Ecuador for inflammation of prostate, tumor in ovaries, uterus, brain, kidneys, breast, cysts, leukemia, kidney and gall stones, hemorrhoids, bronchitis, asthma and sinusitis, depressed immune system. Of course it cannot be exported from Ecuador or offered in other countries for these purposes unless it has been approved by relevant authorities.

There has been a study at University of Miami Medical School on the effects of this plant. See http://www.med.miami.edu/mnbws/Dandekar106.html

The Dulcamara Cream is created by blending pure dulcamara water extract with a base cream imported from France. The cream has protective, nourishing and moisturizing properties. A small quantity of essential oil of lavender is added to complement its nutritional properties and therapeutic uses, especially for acne, allergies, burns, diaper rash, and general skin care. The cream can be applied on the face and to all body parts.

The cream is used in Ecuador for burns, allergies, varicose veins and ulcers, diabetic, baldness, warts, vitiligo, acne, pimple, blackhead, wrinkles, hemorrhoids, psoriasis, diaper rash, dermatitis and general skin care. Again this cannot be exported form Ecuador or offered in other countries for these specific purposes.

This is just one of many herbs you’ll learn about because Alberto also works with CORPEI, the Ecuadorian government organization dedicated to developing export opportunities for handicrafters up to big organizations. They approached Alberto to see if he wanted to be involved in an international project to promote the development of businesses and organizations involved with producing and marketing natural products from the Andes and Amazon.

You can run your export business from an office or at home! The internet makes this more possible than ever before and at the course we’ll share ideas on how to develop and use your website to enhance sales.

The internet is the Colt 45 of business, the great equalizer. If you choose to have your own import-export business you too can let the internet help your business grow for wealth and freedom.

The tour’s mission  is to help you actually find products that:

#1: Can be sold to easily identified markets.

#2: Can be marked up many times while allowing a fair trade for the indigenous.

#3: Can be imported in a suitcase.

The tour lets you see in a practical way  how to achieve the goals we teach in the course.

On the tour  you learn from tour leaders who have practical experience from the shipments that they have actually incurred in their own Ecuador export business.

You learn the problems encountered and how to avoid them. (This alone will save you far more than the course tuition.)

One delegate who attended our Ecuador export expedition wrote:

Our business of selling Ecuador products is still going well. We are now appointing Agents across Australia and should have the whole country covered by mid-August. Our initial shops continue to re-order on a regular basis. The best shops seem to re-order every two weeks.

We have also received inquiry to provide buying services for people in a few other countries. So we will be seriously thinking about starting our own brand name to market globally. If successful, it should help many Ecuadorians.

Another couple who attended this expedition sell the goods they export at flea markets.

They wrote: Good Evening Gary/Merri.  Speaking of a small business, we have opened All American Enterprises, LLC (AAE) which includes selling products from Ecuador at a trade days operation about 200 miles East of Dallas.  I don’t know if we are off to a “bang” but we are sure having fun.  See attached pictures to include our model Consuela trying to look indigenous.

Please tell Merri we have made profit on our inventory and the big sellers are alpaca silver jewelry and Octavalo alpaca ponchos.  We will visit  at the end of September and would like to restock to include blankets/ponchos/throws from Hilana.

Space makes it impossible to explain everything in the course, but I am convinced if you try it, you will find it improves your entire way of life! There has never been a time when the risk of higher tax, greater unemployment and investment dangers were higher in North America , but neither has the opportunity for small businesses abroad been so outstanding.

Here is one of the silver workers we visit.

Todd Smith, another attendee, wrote this:

Recently Gary recommended a printer in Cotacachi, Ecuador, for me to use to print my photographic greeting cards.  I was quite skeptical about doing business in Ecuador, both for the hassle of sending money, shipping the product, and most importantly the quality of the printing.  As a photographer, I am quite picky about printing.  But, after three years of good experience with Gary, I decided to take another risk and try the printer.  The results were outstanding–better than many press jobs I’ve seen in the US, and the price was terrific.

I’ve learned that Gary likes to push his students to try things they thought were too risky.  Gary lives on the cutting edge.  But, interestingly enough, I don’t think he is really a risk-taker, because his feet are always firmly planted on the ground.  I’ve learned over time that I can trust Gary’s thinking, and that he really does come up with some unusual, and very effective, solutions to problems that I’ve tried to solve on my own.

My suggestion is simply to try out Gary.  You may have to risk some money, but my experience has been so positive that feel safe in saying that the risk will be well worth it.  Of the $1000 or so that I invested , I have earned many thousands in return, and have created a lifestyle for myself that is far more fulfilling than anything I had previously.

I did the import/export course last year in Cotacachi, though I was in Ecuador mainly for photography.  While I was there, I met one of Gary’s contacts in the rose business.  We went to his plantation and he was very willing to work with any of Gary’s students to export flowers to the US or Canada.  He showed us prices that appeared to me as if they would form the basis of  a very profitable floral business.  He also explained how the flowers are shipped FedEx directly to you, and they are cut fresh before the shipment.  This means that the flowers you resell will last much longer than those that have been sitting in a florist’s shop forever.  This could be a significant advantage over the competition, and could generate some very satisfied customers.  Sincerely,  Todd Smith

Here I am with Todd Smith trying new tailor made Ecuador suits  that cost $135 to $200…an excellent Ecuador export.

Here is Bonnie Keogh who attended the export expedition enjoying an open air breakfast at El Meson de las Flores, the center of our expeditions. Bonnie wrote:

ecuador-exports-bonnie

My name is Bonnie Keough. In March 2006, I went to Ecuador to attend Gary and Merri’s import/export course.

I was hoping to find items to bring back to the States and sell. I love to travel and was looking for business ideas that would enable me to do that.

I had never been to South America (never even considered it) before so it was an adventure. I didn’t know what to expect, but I had been reading Gary’s newsletter for a while and I was impressed with the Scott’s honesty and integrity. They don’t promise overnight success or try to sell you a business opportunity. They share their wealth of experiences, open doors for you and educate you on the possibilities and opportunities available. It’s up to you to implement what you learn.

I found so much more than high quality products in Ecuador, the people I deal with are kind, hard-working folks who truly appreciate my business and I appreciate their honesty and skills. I have returned to Ecuador 6 more times since my first trip and each time I leave I’m anxious to return.

I always personally select all of the items I sell. By doing this, I’ve learned a lot about quality, prices and sources and I enjoy interacting with the people. But it is hard work and not everyone enjoys that aspect of the business. You will have to decide how much you want to participate.

Don’t expect to find mass produced items in Ecuador. If you have an idea for a product, it is a great place to have items custom made. It’s possible to find high quality labor intensive pieces, such as hand knit sweaters or hand woven rugs, at very reasonable prices.

If you have a genuine interest in pursuing an import business, whether in Ecuador or elsewhere, I’m sure you will benefit from the import course. It’s a great introduction to the country and opportunities available there and provides a background on the nuts and bolts of the business. It opened a doorway to a new life for me.

We stress that this is a course combining theory and practicality…but this is a true expedition! You’ll be having fun as you view products, interview, bargain, meet, search and many will even buy. Those who are just looking for a “classroom experience in a hotel” should not attend. Everyone will be out in the field looking and examining and finding. Bonnie.
