The pen is mightier than the keyboard and can be used as an amazing instrument of power.

In this day of modern technology pens still have a place… a nice one..or memorable ones especially.  See how to use pens to make your life better and how to become more intelligent in a most unexpected way.

Before the Pen

Before we examine the importance of the pen, let me review a system that unlocks our higher forms of intelligence that we cannot access in lingual form.

We use techniques to create business and investing ideas in the Quantum Thinking Workshop conducted during our International Investing and Business Seminars.

We also teach this tactic to create writing ideas during our Writer’s Camp.

There are the three steps in this technique:

Step #1: Write by hand for five or ten minutes everything you can about a business idea.  This connects the the mind/body functions.

Step #2: Take a ten minute meditation or sit quietly for 10 minutes listening to Baroque largo music.  Relax and let your mind wander… use innocence… no expectation.

Step #3: At the end of ten minutes write down whatever is on your mind at that time. Write as much about it as you can…just let it flow.
In the thoughts…in the visions that you have at the end of the ten minute meditation or in the quiet listening, there will be an out of the box idea to dwell on… often in graphic form…could be a picture rather than words.  Dwell easily on this in context of your business.  You will be very pleased and delighted with the results of your own creative, simple writings.

We integrated a tactic taught to us by a Buddhist Monk with the Super Thinking knowledge to come up with this special way of  tapping into the infinite knowledge to which we are all connected.

We use this system because the intelligence that is in us can in times of stress overwhelm our ability to think logically.   Our universe of information is yoda, terra bytes of data compared to our logic… as a processor… not even 64K.  At the least we cannot expect to use just our logical thinking to tap into the universe.

This process works even better if you make it a ritual with a special pen.

Rituals are special routines that connect us to the moment.   Rituals are actions that can connect us to ourselves, our place, and our greater intellect.

Rituals bring pleasure without the labor of decision making. They allow us to enter a state of relaxed action where we’re actually not thinking, not aware of any single thing other than the act of what we are doing.

Rituals connect us with the moment that makes life better.

Rituals are routines we give importance to. The secret is to choose an important routine and to systematize it so that you do it the same way every single time – so it doesn’t require thought.  Good rituals are enjoyable habits that accomplish something… large or small with easy success.

Rituals work best when the mind and body compose together.  We put on night clothes for the ritual of going to bed.   We may have a special coffee cup that enhances the ritual of enjoying the first cup of morning coffee.

A special pen can enhance the ritual of writing in at least three ways.

The first two enhancements  come when the pen looks and feels good to you.   This activates pleasure responses in your neuromuscular system as the mind takes cues from both its visual and tactile centers.  For example I use a wonderful wooden pen… much like the one above.    A way to describe the process is “This gets the juices flowing!”

The third gain you get in the system takes place if you associate the pen with something positive in your life.  For example my pen was a gift from my one and only high school buddy who has remained a friend for 50 years.   The pen was not for a birthday, a holiday or any special occasion.  My pal simply showed up one day with one for both Merri and me saying… “I was in the market… saw these great hand made pens and thought of you two”.

Every time I pick up the pen I feel a warm flood of gratitude for a lifelong friendship.  Then I enjoy the beauty of the wood and craftsmanship and finally the silky fineness of the polished wood.

I am feeling better before I begin to write.

Next time you have a business problem/situation or are looking for a path to follow… get a piece of fine paper (one that you like) and pick up an enjoyable pen.

Good pens can be expensive.  According to skitzone.com this Aurora Diamante fountain pen is priced at $1,4375,000!

Never mind. The pen you use does not have to cost a lot.   The technique will work if you use a Bic, the stub of a pencil or even a broken crayon…. but it will work in a more positive way when you tap into the infinite intellect we all possess through the expertise of any pen that is special for you.

Turns pens from Dough into Dough.

Using pens as described above is a general way to increase prosperity. Here is a specific way to earn from pens.

Here is how to turn bread into dough…  the cash kind by making pens out of dough.

In the Ecuador export tours, delegates can visit the village of Calderon and look at Ecuador exports called mazapan. Mazapan is made from bread dough that is glazed and baked rock hard. Delegates see all types of goods being made.  Mazapan offers excellent Ecuador exports opportunity because it can be shaped into almost any form ranging from beautiful flowers to toys, nativity sets and much, much more.

Mazapan products are excellent Ecuador exports because they are light and compact for low cost shipping, the product is inexpensive but with a little value added can be marked up enormously.

As Ecuador exports they have be made into pins, refrigerator magnets, necklaces, earrings and ornaments.   Exports delegates get to see how these Ecuador exports can be merchandised in many ways.

One delegate who owned a  number of Hampton Inns in the USA had mazapan flowers and llamas created to use at his hotel as a turn down treat.  So many guests asked for them that he created a small leaflet and began selling them.  Later he began  wholesaling to other hoteliers.

The last time I talked to this exporter he was having pins made in the form of his University Alma Mater  mascot to sell at college ball games and such.

The historical review sees  current markets for writers based around economic cycles as outlined first by Russian economist, Nikolai Kondratiev, who proposed a theory that Western capitalist economies have long term (50 to 60 years) cycles of boom followed by depression. These business cycles are to this day called “Kondratiev Waves”.

Kondratiev’s thoughts were refined  by Austrian economist, Joseph Shumpeter, which we have extensively researched and follow the global economy (and US stock market) and how it has moved through a series of bull…. and then a bear (a period of no growth) cycles that each run around 15 year bull as shown in this graph below.

These stock market bull and bear cycles are based on cycles of human interaction, war, technology and productivity.

These cycles are a driving force in the creation of  opportunity.

These cycles are intricately connected with the new waves of productivity that grow from the great human platform of combat. The cycle goes like this.

An economic downturn enhances a war or threat of war. Struggles for survival in the war (like the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Cold War (WWIII), super charge inventiveness that creates new forms of productivity…the steam engine, the internal combustion engine,  production line processes, jet engines, TV, farming techniques, plastics, telephone, computer and lastly during the Cold War, the internet.

Each new invention helped win a war.  Shifting the technology to domestic use… after the war… created a boom.

Each boom leads to excess.

Each excess led to a correction.  The correction creates an economic downturn.

The economic downturn enhances a war or threat of war.

The global economy is currently in a major correction cycle… at the correct time and we should expect that a war (or some major struggle of the epoch or threat of war such as the Cold War) should begin to build!   This latest downturn started almost exactly (1998), 16 years after the last boom began (1982)…which began after the last great human struggle called the Cold War that lasted about a decade when the Soviet Union collapsed.

If the cycle repeats, the struggle should build now due to the poor economy.  If the cycles repeat then the bottom is around 2012-2013.  Everything will seem bleakest… darkest… blackest.

This will be the best time of all in decades to invest!

The epoch of the Cold War fought Maggie Thatcher and Ronnie Reagan fought the evil empire (1981 to 1989).  The war was won when the Berlin Wall came down in 1989 and the Soviet Empire dissolved in 1991. That war created an arms race that created new technology including internet.

The economic war that follows the boom comes from the domestication of technology developed during the struggle.

The technological burst off WWIII accelerated when access to the ARPANET was expanded in 1981 by the National Science Foundation (NSF) which developed the Computer Science Network (CSNET) providing access to supercomputer sites in the United States from research and education organizations.

In 1982 the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) was standardized and the concept of a world-wide network of fully interconnected TCP/IP networks called the Internet was introduced. Commercial internet service providers (ISPs) began to emerge in the late 1980s and 1990s.

The dot-com bubble (also referred to as the Internet bubble and the Information Technology Bubble) was the post war boom, a speculative bubble covering roughly 1995–2000.

The next step is to decide where this cycle is and how this creates business opportunity through distortions, contrasts and trends.

Contrasts and distortions in currencies, markets and social and demographic shifts to spots trends.

For example we look at how each new wave of technology creates new problems.  Shifts from WWII included increased fertilization in farming and more women at work.  This caused dietary differences in the American family that led to an explosion of health food stores.

* Problems & Trends Create Income Possibilities

Surprisingly the inventors of Graham Crackers and Kellogg Corn Flakes were among some of the first to spur an interest in health food so in the 1920s and 1930s health food stores did start to open in the USA selling products such as blackstrap molasses and brewer’s yeast.  However health food stores as we know them did not start to boom until the 1960s in connection to the newly emerging ecology movement and counterculture to modern living, intense fertilization, pesticides, women at work, etc.

Image the wealth you would have gained  writing about that trend coming!

We  explore potential counter cultures created by the internet… a WWIII technology… that could erupt and ways to write and do business based on this.

This concept is worth exploring because a lot of people are fed up with the North American way of life… and weather.   They want to leave. Some can and some cannot depart North America’s shores totally.

A global tour or seminar business can provide extra income, be a great service to your global community and can be fun.

Dr. Jay Glaser writes in his book “Body Renewal: The Lost Art of Self Repair”: (Bolds are mine)

The Mistake of Judgment – Root of All Disorder. A mistake of judgment occurs when you erroneously understand life to be diverse and finite, and behave accordingly.  Under the illusion, common to nearly everyone, the unified, infinite value of life is ignored or forgotten. Your connection with your source is lost.  You start to work too hard, eat or drink too much or partake of the wrong things, and then violate other laws of nature because you are not grounded in your source, the prime mover on which the laws of nature are based.

Age related and chronic disorders are generally an issue of cellular intelligence: The body persistently repeats  the same error. Usually the intelligence is completely intact and not distroted but it is not utilized because the cell does not express or actively suppress the appropriate genetic information.

Self repair is often a matter of restoring the cell’s access to its intelligence.  Hundreds of millions of years of self interaction condensed to fit into every cell’s nucleus has made your body a genius of self repair.

Your body contains the rules of self repair in every cell.  Self interaction is the basis of self repair.

Learning the lost art of self repair implies a process of giving your body’s intelligence an opportunity to function in a different mode than the one that brought it to its current state.

Our purpose is to master the laws of nature governing self-repair, to gain the ability to choose our state of mind and thus permit our body to do what the mind dictates.  This means peeking into the chapters of the owner’s manual for the human body not found in a medical dictionary.  An anatomy lesson of the mind-body interface would show a diagram depicting the heirarchy of expression of the parts of our experience arising from the field of pure consciousness.

Visiting the field of pure consciousness on a regular basis is the first exercise in gaining mastery over the mind-body interface. Jay goes on in the book to encourage people to play rather than exercise.

This makes sense to me because exercise is play without a meaningful connection.

Play is fun and real fun is an indicator that our activity is integrated with reality.  Mirth is the opposite of pain and these are nature’s powerful tools… fun attracts and pain repels.

In most of the world children learn really quickly… soaking up information… languages. Then they start their education and that rapid expansion ends.  Formal education is just that formal and disconnects from the realities of each child.  Formal education herds us down a shoot of conformity and often has little to do with our real life.

That disconnect eliminates the fun!

How to Earn with Seminars, Tours and Events

Lesson #16: The Power of Fun in Events

Delegates at a Super Thinking + Spanish  course in Mexico having fun.

The report below is from the Super Spanish teachers in Mexico showing the power of fun and relaxation in seminars.

Hello, Gary and Merri, we started another Spanish course in our condo today. 12 students brought US$1,600 profit this time.   Everyone is excited and happy with what they are learning.

Gary:  Lesson learned: One reason these teachers earn a good profit on small groups is they keep their costs down.  When we started, Merri and I often conducted courses in this way. There are tax benefits to this as well.  In the US if you have a home office or use your home, you can deduct part of your electricity, water, and even take some depreciation on your house if you choose.  (Work with your tax preparer to determine the correct percentages which will be based on numerous factors including how often you use the house for seminars and what percentage of your income is derived from the seminars in your house.)

This may be a tax wise step to take especially in the US because capital gains are taxed at a much lower rate than income… plus there are substantial exemptions for capital gain earned on the sale of a personal home.

The teachers continued: We have a class that is really impressed with the foundation and method of learning we use. They know beyond a doubt they are getting more than Spanish.

They are getting Super Thinking. I think we are doing a better job of impressing them with this this time.

We have one fellow who is absolutely thrilled and is planning to use these relaxation exercises and the Baroque music to help him study for a teacher dive certification test he has coming up.

We have another fellow who also is planning to use the relaxation and Baroque music because he has a lot of stressful things happening in his life right now. We also have several people who are absolutely thrilled because they had no idea they already knew so much Spanish.

Gary:  Lesson Learned:  Have a unique product and be sure to let it evolve.  Super Thinking plus Spanish is unique and we can always keep it that way because Merri had special training with Dr. Georgi Lozanov, the master educator from Bulgaria.  Lozanov only worked with a handful of people (outside of Bulgaria).  This training gave Merri unique concepts that she could put in her course that would be hard to duplicate.  She has been using this technique since her early 30s.

There are dozens of other Spanish courses but none can have this unique claim.

When you create your course try to have something without a lot of direct competition.

When Merri and I began our seminar business, our courses were about international investing.  In the 1970s and 1980s almost no one else was talking about this arena.   Researching global investing ideas led us to Ecuador so by the time the field was flooded with international investing seminars, we had moved on to seminars about investing in Ecuador and then tours about Ecuador real estate.

Many of our tour delegates became competitors. By that time we had seen the need  for delegates to speak Spanish and our Spanish tours had begun.  We still have an International and Ecuador element in our business… but only because of the steam already built and because we have added the Super Thinking element to these areas.

Had we just stuck to seminars about international investing, we would be competing with stock brokers offering free lunches today!  That’s no way to earn excellent profits.

The teacher continued:  With our first class Shawn and I always felt energized. With this one we have moments when we feel a little bit drained. This reminds of the real need to follow what you taught us that teachers need lots of rest before class, to take down time at breaks if possible, and to eat right. I just thought I would mention this in case you want to re point this out to other teachers.

Gary:  Lesson Learned:  Seminars and courses tend to unite the energy of the students and the teacher.  The types of students and the basis of their arriving make a huge difference in the way that both the student and the instructor feel.

One time a delegate was CEO of a large national Super Market chain.  He loved what we had to say.  He commanded his top management to attend and they were not enthused.  The were a drain on the entire class.  At times delegates will prefer to argue rather than learn.

Merri and I can feel a huge difference between teaching a course conducted to our readers and not.  Our readers generally are like minded souls who have read our newsletters and are enthusiastic about being with us and learning what we have to share.

Courses we are teaching for other publishers where we are not well known generally take a day longer to get going.  It takes a day for the delegates to get to know us.

Most people have attended previous seminars that were not really created to share knowledge… but was a sales presentation in disguise.  There are so many ways that seminar promoters can cheat delegates that many arrive with their defenses up.

Delegates who know us tend to already have their defenses down.  If  they do not know us, then it takes time for them to realize there are no tricks here and we do know what we are talking about.

Seminar energy is sparked by the presenter.   The teacher’s energy is reinforced by the enthusiasm of the delegates who pours that added excitement back to students. On a good event this two way referral feeds in a positive upward spiral.

Only the very strongest self referring person can ignore this two way exchange.

This is why humor is a good way to start an event.  Mirth is the opposite of pain and is nature’s attractor of good will, positive attitude and enthusiasm.

Teacher Continues: On day three we got all our questionnaires filled out.  We have learned that it helps to give them out on day two.  We received all GREAT comments. The energy changed on this third day and we again felt energized.

A very happy class and all will recommend – you can’t ask for more than that can you?

Oh and I got a huge arrangement of flowers again from students.

We had a lot of laughter in the class – well, what better way to learn?

I don’t know if I mentioned this but one student came to me after day two and said I like to be funny and say funny things and I could never see myself (even after three years in Mexico) as being able to do that in Spanish … and now I do. Yea!

Personally I think we had more than one comedian in the room.

One fellow would pick a word he liked in the 4005 words section and tried to make a sentence around that word … so he ended up taking milk to the beach in his sentence. In another he was in a parade to the milk factory.

The sentences started to play off other funny sentences made. For me, one of the greatest joys in my own Spanish language confidence is being able to show my personality in my Spanish sentences. I think this class definitely got that!

Our Spanish pronunciation coach, Memo, said he really enjoyed himself and we kept him on his toes.

The morning of day three one student said he was actually able to have a conversation and understand a taxi driver….another said he went with friends to a restaurant where none of the staff spoke English and he started by telling them he was learning Spanish and he used some of the polite phrases/ words he had learned in class and he felt they treated him like a best friend and introduced him to the family and the cook.

Another received a call from the Mexican phone company and for the first time ever was able to understand what they said. (more testimonials to come).

This is what we like to see our teachers do… expand the service they provide… earn extra income and have fun.

When  you set a purpose that increases your happiness and others as well… you’ll find yourself automatically on the right track… for yourself.  The extra income is a great bonus.   Tax deductions?  They are a great frosting on the cake.

In today’s  era of accelerated change, we can multi task to create multiple streams of income.

Most multitaskers multi task on the small stuff which creates a negative and often dangerous downward spiral.   The driver shown above may be trying to gain five minutes at the risk of life and limb… his and anyone else unfortunate enough to get in the way.

Merri and I used to be alert for weaving drunk drivers when on the road.   Now we are also always on the lookout for texting drivers. Several times we have nearly been rear ended by multitaskers whose eyes were on their phone rather than the red light ahead.  This type of multitasker is getting it wrong.

However multi tasking the big stuff can help you prosper during the social economic technological shifts we are encountering now.

We concluded our November 2011 Super Thinking + Spanish course in Mt. Dora at the Lakeside Inn with a full house.

We usually have our courses in the meeting room over the La Cremerie Coffee shop… in the hotel compound.

In this course a number of International Club Members arrived unannounced and with our teachers we suddenly had 47 delegates.  We love having the extra people to join us but this forced a move to the Alexander Room in the main hotel building.

Getting organized in Alexander’s room took some multi tasking… talking, moving, resetting audio and video.

That change was “emergency one time” tasking rather than everyday little stuff.  Once a course is in operation the show must go on!  We just do that what one has to do to get the job done.

However we reserve most of our multi tasking for the big stuff.

Our business is one big multi task of focus… serving information on how to prosper during change through multi currency investing, international micro businesses ideas,  with self publishing and… earning from a seminar business… as well as how to have an internet business and how to live and prosper in Ecuador. Whew!  One could get tired just thinking about all these different directions except… for a number of reasons.

The benefits?  We gain multiple streams of income by writing about and teaching at our seminars about the techniques we use in our lives.

We use three techniques to remain in a state of relaxed concentration. These techniques are:

#1: Listening to specific types of Baroque music.

#2: Using theanine.

#3: Meditation.

Delegates learn how to communicate in Spanish in just four days… but learn much more. These techniques provide many types of increased knowledge and ability to succeed while multi tasking.

For example initial results from a study at University of Washington of the effects of meditation confirm that this improves multitasking performance.

Here is an excerpt from the study by David M. Levy, Marilyn Ostergren and Jacob O. Wobbrock all of  University of Washington, Seattle, Washington,  Alfred W. Kaszniak University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona: This paper reports initial results from a study exploring whether training in meditation or relaxation can improve office workers’ ability to multitask on a computer more effectively and or with less stress. Human resource (HR) personnel were given 8 weeks of training in either mindfulness meditation or body relaxation techniques, and were given a stressful multitasking test both before and after training. (A third group, a control group, received no intervention during the 8-week period but was tested both before and after this period.) Results indicate that overall task time and errors did not differ significantly among the three groups. However, the meditation group reported lower levels of stress and showed better memory for the tasks they had performed; they also switched tasks less often and remained focused on tasks longer.

The response to the course was terrific and the course was great in part because Merri and I do multitask when we conduct our courses.  We teach as we learn. We listen and see as we talk.  We are thinking, feeling and reacting as we conduct our courses.  We are evolving the course from what we hear and see in the here and now as we combine the present with our past experiences to gain clues how to move ahead.

Fluency in a language is considered to come when you know 1,200 words. To prove that it is possible to gain this and much more, let me share just one of the 17 tactics Merri taught me that gives you thousands of Spanish words in less than three minutes.

Here are the thousands of Spanish words lesson #1:

All words in Spanish and English that end in ION are almost identical,  just pronounced differently. For example action is accion, education educacion, manipulation, manipulacion, etc.

Now you already literally know hundreds of Spanish nouns. This is just one of seventeen Spanish lessons you gain. The next lesson teaches you how to pronounce each of these nouns. Then you learn in a third lesson almost as many verbs, almost as quickly.

Third, you learn how to avoid conjugating verbs by sticking with the infinitive (far easier than it sounds). This simple lesson leaves you sounding like a Spanish professor (believe me I know as I use this tactic every day when in Ecuador).

There are many other lessons. For example lesson five shows how to sound infinitely polite and yet get almost anything you want in Spanish. Lesson six gives you the valuable connectors and the seventh lesson triples your Spanish capacity with yesterday, now and tomorrow.

By the end of the three day course you will feel quite comfortable speaking Spanish without stress!

In simple conversations, such as buying groceries or ordering a meal, I can make myself understood. A Livescience.com article helps explain why this course works and how delegates are creating Spanish sentences by the first lunch break and can communicate well in Spanish after just three days.   This article by Jeremy Hsu, LiveScience Senior Writer, is entitled “CIA Seeks Anyone, Anyone Who Can Speak 2 Languages”

Four important points in the article are shown in excerpts below with my comments to show what has been wrong with traditional Spanish courses and why the Super Thinking tactic is perfect for this program.

The article says: WASHINGTON, D.C. — Many Americans don’t learn a second or a third language from birth, let alone a language that the CIA or U.S. Foreign Service might want. The situation has forced U.S. government agencies to learn how to cultivate the most talented second-language speakers from among college students with little to no other-language expertise.

“In U.S. education, we don’t develop early bilinguals,” said Catherine Doughty, a language expert at the University of Maryland.

Doughty spoke as part of a panel on Feb. 19 during the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference in Washington, D.C. Finding the best.  Government agencies aren’t alone in trying to recruit multilingual speakers; U.S. corporations covet such skills for doing business in the era of globalization.

The article explained how Doughty and her colleagues used tests to train up cognitive processes related to language learning, such as the ability to hold information in the brain while using it for learning.  The tests sought to predict those who can succeed despite everything stacked against them.

The article reviewed changes in the brain.  Lee Osterhout is a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Washington in Seattle.  His lab used electrodes placed on the scalp to measure the electrical activity created by the signals of brain cells. That allowed the researchers to see differences in the brain patterns among language learners and fluent speakers. They found some surprising results.

The article pointed out: Repeated studies of French language students showed that their brains responded differently to real French words compared with fake words after just two weeks of classes, even if the students themselves could not tell such words apart.   

“From knowing nothing to a little bit, [there are] huge changes in the brain,” Osterhout pointed out.”[From] knowing a little to knowing a lot, [it is] much more subtle.”  Another surprise came from studies of Spanish-speaking immigrants, because neither age nor language proficiency seemed to predict how quickly the immigrants picked up English. Instead, the fastest learners showed both the greatest motivation to learn and a willingness to use English at every opportunity despite being bad at it (at first).

MY COMMENT: This is the other reason why Super Thinking plus Spanish works. This three day course gets the delegates speaking and thinking Spanish all the time so they can use and/or think Spanish every day… and communicating even from the beginning. In this way the education grows even when Spanish is not being spoken.

Another: Gary and Merri,  It certainly was an interesting and intriguing four days for me.  I enjoyed the Spanish but even more so, all the tentacles that extended during those four days that went into so many different directions.

I grew up in a very SQUARE box with loving  and intelligent parents but my world remained within this box, unable to see beyond those walls, as I was never encouraged to “think outside the box”..  Mike has been opening doors and leading me outside this box but because of my upbringing I have not completely embraced or understood what was beyond those doors he opened for me.  As I have gotten older I have become more open to the world outside those doors yet those old tapes continue to play and I have not been able to completely release myself and experience all that can be.

Another shared this: Listening to the two of you during our time together has suddenly got me to thinking, and although some of the ideas still seem foreign to me,  I am at a point in my life now where I can say, “anything is possible” and I am now willing to embrace and allow myself to experience the world of possibility and let it take me in directions I may have in the past resisted.  I really don’t know where all this is going to lead me but I am now willing to explore, develop and grow.

I found all the information you offered on healing, realigning the body, nutrition, etc. so fascinating, have you ever thought about doing a course on just that?  With the aging population and the health care issues I think it would be not only an interesting course but one that would be very beneficial to so many.  I, personally, would love to learn more about what you talked about and plan on purchasing the book, “Body Renewal, the Lost Art of Self Healing” for my Kindle.

Another: Hola Merri Y Gary, I was thinking about you this Remembrance Day, and I went to check emails and there you are!  We had fun at Disney World on Monday and sat beside several Personnes Espaniol.  We could understand them however I couldn’t make sentences quickly, but could say one or two word phrases that were understood.  We arrived home at 3am yesterday – the airlines were very late in Denver due to a crew incident.

I found myself making up sentences all day yesterday as I was running errands.  John knows more vocabulary than I at this point as he has studied Spanish previously.  Today I will begin to review the lessons and construct sentences to send to you and the group – as you suggested below.  Es en BUENO sugestion!!!  I also received the email Merri sent with the 4005 words and started to scroll through those yesterday.

Super Thinking plus Spanish courses are among the few I know that not only share valuable information but help the delegates become smarter so they absorb, retain and recall the education more effectively.  The course does this through the power of music… a power we all already have within. Let’s see some examples.   Meet Jim Reed.

Jim is a retired airline pilot who moved to Ecuador a year ago and lived in our Casa Blanca condos for a year.  He has become an Ecuador resident and built a house.   I interviewed him on one of our trips to Cotacachi.

Like so many others I have spoken with who have attended our Super Thinking + Spanish course… he claims to be much happier… more relaxed and has become healthier, shedding medication and weight.

Jim lost 55 pounds in the last year and, as reported by so many… without trying… without eating less… without any feeling of deprivation.

Another a dentist said: I was so delighted with my experience at the Spanish training.  I felt more confident of ability to pronounce Spanish than I ever was of French or German.  Funny… I did not think I remembered any French or German but when I cannot remember the Spanish words the German and French popped up.  Practicing my pronunciation made my trip home go faster. I never enjoyed pronouncing either of the other two, but this was fun. It is hard to fall asleep at the wheel when you are moving your mouth to speak Spanish. It does work your mouth in a different way.  I realized that you have to say each syllable slowly and correctly(until you get it perfectly) and when you do it is impressive.

It was amazing to see us all writing such advanced sentences after a few days and so much more enjoyable than having to go through the alphabet to build the words to build the sentences.

Another Wrote: Dear Gary,  I intended to give it a few days before I wrote to you about my experience in the Spanish + SuperThinking  Course. However, I had such dramatic results today, in the physical rather than the cognitive realm, that I had to share this immediately.

I started my day with Baroque music. Before I began my Spanish lesson, I went through the Mayan Waves Brain Refresher (Brain Sync). I also played an alpha wave composition while I completed a lesson in the morning. I repeated the process this afternoon. Before my high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout in the evening, I put on a gamma brain wave video from you tube faster reading gamma waves help with exercise. I preformed the “Halo Of Sweat” workout from an online fitness site. Around the world, people complete the workout and posts their scores, striving to meet or beat the personal trainer. Frankly, my reps have rarely come close to the reps of the woman featured in the video nor have I ever beat her. Until today.

Not only did I come close to her performance, I surpassed her quite significantly with several exercises. I performed my best in the last exercise, Abs Burn Out. Her scores were 38, 34 and 33 and mine were 60, 40 and 47!

I believe several factors allowed me to achieve this acceleration in athletic ability today:

1. My left and right hemispheres are now harmonizing.
2. The meditation and relaxed concentration techniques I learned are coming more easily to me and effective.
3. My focus and concentration are greatly enhanced.

I am a Pilates professional so to have my exercise regimen improve so swiftly is remarkable. Not only am I now able speak Spanish but I am experiencing optimal health as well. I am deeply grateful to you and Merri for your SuperLearning instruction.  Be well,

The Western economy has changed… probably forever.  The old ways are gone and those who held jobs… or still have work in the private sector have lost the most.

The economy will recover… in numbers yes… but the way people earn and work… and how the money is distributed and to whom especially… has been profoundly altered.  This is especially true in value added countries like Canada… the USA and most of Europe.

Excerpts from a recent New York Times article entitled “After Escaping Jobless Rolls, Trauma May Linger” by Michael Luo helps explain why:

RALEIGH, N.C. — Antje Newby went back to work in September, but she has still not escaped the burden imposed by nine months of unemployment.

Antje Newby, working again, said, “We’ve got financial impact we’re going to deal with forever.”

Tom Newby stays home in part to help his children adjust to their move from in the Detroit area.

Mrs. Newby and her husband were forced to walk away from their home in suburban Detroit and are now living here in a rented house with their three children. They are bracing for a huge tax bill in the spring because of early withdrawals they made on her 401(k) and taxes they still owe on unemployment benefits. Their credit is in tatters, and their 16-year marriage showed cracks they are still trying to repair.

The wound of unemployment, as her family has learned, is not cauterized so quickly, and lives do not simply go back to the way they were.

Interviews with more than a dozen people who were out of work at least a half-year during the recession and have now landed jobs found many adjusting to new realities. Some of the changes are self-imposed; others forced upon them. They include grappling with newfound insecurities and scaled-back budgets; reshaped priorities and broken relationships. In some ways, it is equivalent to the lingering symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

One person interviewed said, “If the rug is pulled out again, I’m not going to survive”.

Another said “We’ve got financial impact we’re going to deal with forever.”

Many of the old rules of employment have been turned upside down. For example in the past people worked for the government for job security but expected lower pay. Now, according to the Cato Institute this has completely flipped and the reversal is growing:

The Bureau of Economic Analysis has released its annual data on compensation levels by industry (Tables 6.2D, 6.3D, and 6.6D here). The data show that the pay advantage enjoyed by federal civilian workers over private-sector workers continues to expand.

The George W. Bush years were very lucrative for federal workers. In 2000, the average compensation (wages and benefits) of federal workers was 66 percent higher than the average compensation in the U.S. private sector. The new data show that average federal compensation is now more than double the average in the private sector.

Yet at the same time there has never been a better time… with greater opportunity, for certain types of investments or an internet business… if… we can choose a business that flourishes with change.

We are in an era of global structural change… in economics… in society and in the way we work because technology brings us low cost administration, low cost access to data, low cost communication, and low cost travel, plus the opening of markets beyond logic that rely more on passion and experience than on efficiency and cost.

We’ll look at these economic and structural changes, and what to do about them in the international investing and business portion of our Quantum Wealth Seminar we conducted in West Jefferson North Carolina this June 24 to 27.

Before forming her professional dance company Edge Dance Theatre, Ltd. she danced with other companies including Gus Solomons, the international Butoh Group X,  Robert  Yohn of Eric Hawkins Co. and in Japan with Sachio Ito.  Edge Dance Theatre, Ltd.  with international Dance Magazine reporting, “her  fine new ‘Legend’…authority and conviction in alluring choreography” won choreographic grants including the International Dance Festival in NYC and the Harkness Ballet Foundations of Dance Award.  Edge’s other NYC  venues include DTW’s Bessie Schonberg Theater, the Cunningham Studio, Westbeth Theater, the Grammercy Arts Theater, the International Center and the Laban/Bartineff Institute.

Trained in Yogas, Gyrotonics and Pilates, Ann specializes in teaching the ancient, rare Tibetan Yoga Tsa Lung/Trul Khor  as received from Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and Alejandro Raoul. After training for 3 years at Ligmincha, the international Bon Tibetan center in Va., she received  special permission to teach this rare yoga.

She established two yoga courses based on Hatha, Kundalini and Tibetan Yogas at Elon University in the Performing Arts Department  where she now teaches. Her master teachers of Hatha and Kundalini  Yoga were Dharma Mittra and Yogi Bhajan respectively.

There is incredible power in sound.

In fact there is so much power in sound that the power of one sound… Om… is now being researched.

Excerpts from an article in England’s Guardian Newspaper entitled “Improbable research: The repetitive physics of Om” tells us more when it says:

Indian scientists wield sophisticated mathematics to dissect and analyse the traditional meditation chanting sound ‘Om’

Two Indian scientists are wielding sophisticated mathematics to dissect and analyse the traditional meditation chanting sound “Om”. The Om team has published six monographs in academic journals. These plumb certain acoustic subtleties of Om, which these researchers say is “the divine sound”.
Om has many variations. In a study published in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security, the researchers explain: “It may be very fast, several cycles per second. Or it may be slower, several seconds for each cycling of [the] Om mantra. Or it might become extremely slow, with the mmmmmm sound continuing in the mind for much longer periods but still pulsing at that slow rate.

The important technical fact is that no matter what form of Om one chants at whatever speed, there is always a basic Omness to it.

Ajay Anil Gurjar and Siddharth A Ladhake published their first OM paper, Time-Frequency Analysis of Chanting Sanskrit Divine Sound “OM”, in 2008 in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security.

Ladhake is the principal at Sipna’s College of Engineering and Technology in Amravati, India. Gurjar is an assistant professor in that institution’s department of electronics and telecommunication. Both specialise in electronic signal processing.

They now sub-specialise in analysing the one very special signal.

In the introductory paper, Gurjar and Ladhake explain (in case there is someone unaware of the basics): “Om is a spiritual mantra, outstanding to fetch peace and calm. The entire psychological pressure and worldly thoughts are taken away by the chanting of Om mantra.”

No one has explained the biophysical processes that underlie this fetching of calm and taking away of thoughts. Gurjar and Ladhake’s time-frequency analysis is a tiny step along that hitherto little-taken branch of the path of enlightenment.

They apply a mathematical tool called wavelet transforms to a digital recording of a person chanting “Om”.

Merri and I experience the power of sound… every day…  we enjoy the benefits inherent in music and the sound Om.  This is why we developed our Super Thinking plus Spanish and Quantum Wealth courses… to use this power for greater health, wealth and fulfillment… 300% of life.

The power of music (frequencies in tune with the flow of nature) rests in the fact that music can create order out of chaos.

Yehudi Menuhin expressed the power of music in his book “Theme and Variations” this way: Music creates order out of chaos; for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity of the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous.  Thus a confusion surrenders to order and noise to music, and as we through music attain that greater universal order which rests upon fundamental relationships of geometrical and mathematical proportion, direction is supplied to mere repetitious time, power to the multiplication of elements, and purpose to random association.   

Sound… as seemingly as simple as OM… can deliver almost unimaginable power.

Many ancient cultures understood that music embodies within its tones, elements of the celestial order that govern the universe.

As in music, so in life. Audible sound, including music manifests from the most fundamentals vibrations that weave the universal tapestry.

One thread that weaves through this blanket of reality is OM.   Long before Western scientists began investigating music and sound in a scientific way, many wise philosophies and sciences were divined from the primal sound… expanding though mathematical grace to the point where an infinite unbounded intelligence could be glimpsed… and even used via the human form.

The Chinese for example believed that the primal sound is present in all things as a divine frequency.  This one unifying vibration then divides into twelve sub frequencies that could be measured.   This realization created astrology… the study of the Cosmic Tone.

Astrology is based on the twelve tomes… each extending a frequency influence everywhere.   This important mathematical study remains in many aspects of modern life… the twelve months of the year… the twenty four hours a day for example.

Many  ancient beliefs about sound… chants… music… are being restated by studies in numerous fields… quantum physics… medical research (see the studies of neurosurgeon Dr. Karl Pribram) and computer sciences as shown above.

What can the power in music do for us?  First, the power in music can help us be healthier.

Merri and I just returned from extensive physical exams and based on heart, lung and various organ capacities we are both said to be nearly 15 years younger biologically than chronologically.

I do not get very caught up in numbers like this but do believe that Merri’s and my substantial energy, enthusiasm and happiness and the fact that we have not needed an MD… or medication for any type of sickness in over 30 years, has a great deal to do with the fact that  we use music extensively to integrate our mind with our body.

For example just listening to certain baroque music can reduce blood pressure and heart beat.

Second, the power in music can help us be wealthier. Again and again, at times when stock markets seem at their best, I have been able to provide readers with investment warnings because I study market frequencies while listening to musical frequencies.  Using music to integrate brain waves and induce more holistic thought about society, economics and markets helps see through the dangerous noise of daily movement to spot upcoming realities.  This ability to defy the common knowledge… outwit trends… and not be swayed by the herd… so we can spot value creates the energy to generate everlasting wealth.  

Third, the power in music can make us more intelligent. Actually a better way to describe this is to say that music helps our logic connect with and use the infinite wisdom that we are and already possess.

There is enormous power in sound and it is available to all of us… almost free. We can use sound and music for better health… increased wealth and fulfillment.   We hope that sounds good to you!

Ecuador shamans use imagination to enhance longevity.

Stress is a frequent cause of disease that shortens our lives. Yet most stress is created by total figments of our imagination.

Most religious and medical disciplines tell us how to combat the imaginary diseases before they become hardened into a physical realm… with Faith… Prayer…. Meditation… and Imagination.

After yesterday’s message about Ecuador Profit & Imagination a reader reminded me of Albert Einstein “Imagination is more important than knowledge”.

Our Ecuador shamanic minga tour uses imagination when we visit the sacred Lake Quicocha. Here are delegates on a minga with Merri loading at the dock.

Ecuador shamans use imagination as a vital part of their healing… as do healers in many part so the world.

Stephen T. Chang for example writes in his book, “The Complete System of Self Healing Internal Exercises”:

The proper use of imagination plays an important part in some of the internal exercises.  It has been recognized for centuries that a thought is as much a material reality as a material object and in fact they are one in the same.  They are both forms of energy, the distinguishing difference being that they exist at different frequencies and wave lengths of vibration.  Imagination is used in some cases to bring together the mind and the body so that they function as a unit. By using our imagination we may begin to explore our minds and bodies.

Chang supports this thought with studies from Dr Karl H. Pribram who is a professor at Georgetown University , and an emeritus professor of psychology and psychiatry at Stanford University and Radford University.  He is a board-certified neurosurgeon and received a Nobel prize for pioneering work on the limbic system, relationship of the frontal cortex to the limbic system, the sensory-specific “association” cortex of the parietal and temporal lobes, and the classical motor cortex of the human brain.

Some philosophers and scientists even believe that our world is a hologram. Dr. Pribram’s research suggests that everything is  made of every person’s projection, individually and also as well as collectively.

Both Science and Spiritual have already proved (or not exactly) that we are all interconnected with each other. Quantum Physics has discovered that in the purest form of all existence, there is only energy.

In a hologram, the whole world is actually contained in every single part, which also means that when a light is shone through the smallest sliver of a holographic film will reveal the whole image. I mean, “The whole thing!” And this is true no matter how microscopically small it may goes.

If indeed we’re right that these quantum-like phenomena, or the rules of quantum mechanics, apply all the way through to our psychological processes, to what’s going on in the nervous system — then we have an explanation perhaps, certainly we have a parallel, to the kind of experiences that people have called spiritual experiences. Because the descriptions you get with spiritual experiences seem to parallel the descriptions of quantum physics. That’s why Fritjof Capra wrote The Tao of Physics, why we have The Dancing Wu Li Masters, and all of this sort of thing that’s come along. And in fact Bohr and Heisenberg already knew; Schroedinger talked about the Upanishads, and Bohr used the yin and yang as his symbol. Because the conceptions that grew out of watching the quantum level — and therefore now the neurological and psychophysical level, now that it’s a psychological level as well — seem to have a great deal in common with our spiritual experience. Now what do I mean by spiritual experience? You talked about mental activity, calling it the mind. That aspect of mental activity, which is very human — it may be true of other species as well, but we don’t know — but in human endeavor many of us at least seem to need to get in contact with larger issues, whether they’re cosmology, or some kind of biological larger issue, or a social one, or it’s formalized in some kind of religious activity. But we want to belong. And that is what I define as the spiritual aspects of man’s nature.

If this is true then a thought reflects the entire universe.

Ecuador shamanic healing uses imagination in healing in similar ways to the Taoist approach to health.

For example maintaining balance during accelerated change is a root of Ecuador shamanic and Taoist healing.

Both of these sciences believe that stress, environmental social and internal are the initiators of disease so they recommend internal exercises that restore balance and  increase longevity.

For example Taoist healers  believe that change upsets the water balance when people feel confined and restricted by circumstances in which they lack  freedom.  This water imbalance can clog the functions of the kidneys, bladder and urinary tract.

The exercise to restore balance is called The Monkey Exercise because the monkey epitomizes boundless activity, curiosity and free will.

This exercise relies almost entirely on imagination. Here is how Stephen Chang describes the Monkey Exercise:

Begin by standing or sitting. Take a few deep breaths while imagining yourself a monkey. When the visualization is complete, kick off your shoes. Throw off your clothes, and begin to act like a little monkey. Sit on the floor. Crouch in a chair. Leap about.  Bounce up and down. Hang upside down or by one arm, whatever is physically possible to do without strain or exertion.  This exercise is completely free-style; all the movements and actions should act out impulses and whims as they occur to you.

Such a simple… yet effective exercise for longevity… using just imagination.

When Merri and I hiked with friends and the Taita Yatchak into the LLanganatis were were put through the initiations of earth, water, fire and air. Then the yatchak taught us an exercise to eliminate undue stress from worries about change and the future.  On this path…

the yatchak taught is to look ahead… then close our eyes and keep walking… to trust and have faith in what we are… what we know and our connection with the whole.

That’s a good exercise… but perhaps best started in an empty… flat field!

Excessive stress shortens lives and kills.  Yet this frequent visitor is almost entirely (or perhaps is entirely) created by total figments of our imagination.  Ecuador shamans and healers using ancient wisdom (and MDs with sugar pills and placebos) fight fire with fire and use imagination to heal and enhance longevity.

Healthy lifestyles can be gained in Ecuador and beyond.  Lifestyles that support health and wealth make sense.

Yesterday’s message began our review of seven lifestyle foundations.

That message yesterday was entitled Lifestyle Foundations and it outlined why we at the beginning of this decade we are sharing seven key messages I have sent before…  but have updated… because they reflect the fundamental values we share from the lessons we learn at this site.

This second lifestyle thought looks at the profound importance of health because good health is the most valuable asset of all.

I know because there are some moments, always remembered. Peak experiences. Never forgotten spots in our existence that become crossroads that forever dictate the direction of our lives. Sharing such a memory about good health from 30 years ago, may help you gain more freedom and wealth now.

A low rumble, the crowded city below, muffled through thick foliage and vibrated over the thin ribbon of asphalt that winds, flat as a snake, through the jungle ahead.

Warm fogs swept in from the South China Sea and hung like a humid blanket in the air.

The place was Bowen Road, mid levels, Hong Kong.

The time  1973.

This narrow path flows through the middle of a thick boscage that looms above the most crowded city in the world. The green, freshness and cacophony of birds brought us here each morning.  Amahs that stretched on bent iron pipe handrails, ancient wrinkled men carrying caged sparrows and all types of early risers moved like shadows against the verdant forest in their motions of Tai Chi.

Me?

I jogged down Bowen Road. 25 years old, this was the day when divorce papers were served and I also learned I was broke.

I no longer jog… but like walking and hiking… especially up and down hills. Here I am hiking up Mt. Cotacachi with my good friend, Mahananda.

We take delegates on hikes into sacred valleys on our Ecuador shaman tours.

Working from the age of 21 for a new hot company (the whole story is at http://www.garyascott.com/worldreports/121/) my stock options made me a paper millionaire at age 24. This unexpected wealth created bad spending habits and without the sense to sell, this portfolio was nothing but paper that became worthless. Plus the ambition and my month-at-a-time tours to Asia had ruined my marriage as well.

So that day I stumbled, more than jogged, wondering what would happen now! Everything seemed gone and for the first mile or so, I was just running and afraid.

The second mile absorbed me. The self-pity and fright began to fade.  During mile three I began to sweat and the trauma literally evaporated. Finally by the fourth mile I was taking stock. My two kids were smart, strong and already used to my being away. My soon-to-be-ex had the house, two cars, the boat, all the furniture and the 14 apartments we had managed to buy. They would be okay.

So what about myself?

On the fifth mile I analyzed my position… No cash, no way to pay next month’s rent and no job. I was 12,000 miles from home (Oregon). Most of my clients were unhappy campers focusing their anger on the only Guello (foreign devil) who had not fled the city (me).

Yet as one foot plodded in front of the other, there were several things I realized that I did have. Energy and the ability to work. I had my good health.

I jogged along thinking about my many wealthy customers who had tons of cash and gobs of assets, but were mostly overweight, exhausted and consequently perpetually afraid.  If anything went wrong-their business, banking or the economy and politics, they were doomed. They could not build again. Life for them was just the paper they had already accumulated. They were always bound up by that because they feared they could never last out tough times or rebuild. They were trapped by their wealth and lifestyles.

Suddenly over the last five miles I felt extremely rich and free! That was the moment when I realized the basis of real freedom is good health. Money can come and go, but if we are physically fit, with stamina and good energy we can always rebuild wealth.

That’s the moment I have never forgotten and over the past 40 years in my global travels I have kept a continual watch for new ways to be stronger, more flexible, in better shape and more immune from disease.

This search for health, vitality and longevity is one of the reasons why I really enjoy Ecuador, and our Blue Ridge Farm.

Being on the equator and traveling from place to place where the weather is good is healthy because of the seasonal regularity (the body loves ritual).

There are many pools with excellent volcanic mud to soak in for good health. Here I am in one on Ecuador’s coast.

Here is Chachimbiro thermal pools not far from our Ecuador hotel. This is a wonderful natural place where we take our friends and delegates to celebrate and immerse ourselves in the pure water of Ecuador. When we visit the waters of Chachimbiro early morning weekdays, we are the only people there.

Here’s one of our delegates with us enjoying the purest of Ecuador water soaking for health and longevity in the thermal springs.

The Ecuador water comes hot out of the mountains. The Ecuador water is super hot at the top, about 120 degrees. We begin there.

There is an ice cold pool next to the super hot so one can go from hot to cold. Only a few of us do that. Very few as you can see, you know who, dipping alone in the cold.

Having lived with the indigenous for years, Merri and I learned that good health and longevity come from more than just the sun and soil. The Andean people have an incredible science of living that includes very special exercises and nutrition.

We use exercises taught to us by the shamans like this Llama Walk. Here I am on one of our hand bridges in the Blue Ridge.

Foundations of Quantum Wealth

Quantum wealth is everlasting wealth.  The theme of our sites is that everlasting wealth has three foundations, balanced health, fulfilling service and positive attitude. Each foundation reinforces the next into an upwards (or downward) spiral.

Everlasting wealth comes from the recognition that there is only one energy that connects all living things.   This is an infinite power with infinite knowledge…so while humans normally only use a small portion of their potential, each of us is a part of and connected to everything. We know at some level …ALL.

We can gradually learn how to use our connection to infinite knowledge so success comes in easy… simple ways.  For example if we eat and exercise better, we  feel more like turning our passion into profit through service.  When we provide fulfilling services, we begin to have a better attitude which helps us earn more, which gives us time, desire and the ability to eat and exercise better and this spirals up and on and on.

Where to begin?

How can we kick start a positive spiral in an era where we are bombarded by fear,  anger and bad news?  We begin with gratitude,  one of the most powerful positive thought processes. Gratitude has incredible power because  it leads to joy.

Big business sells fear because it is an easy emotion to arise.   Fear leads to anger. Anger is the second most expressive of all emotions.  Most people use anger as their main emotion because when it is such an expressive emotion, it helps them engage in expression and allows them to discuss their feelings and activate events.

Joy however is even more powerful and much healthier and effective emotion.  So we use gratitude to start positive upward spirals because gratitude is a stepping stone to joy!

Gratitude through Service

If we are part of one energy that connects all… then when we help others… we help ourselves.  So instead of trying to be grateful…  it is easier… faster…. more efficient to make someone else grateful… by providing a product or service.

Make someone else grateful and share in the joy.

But there is one more step in this formula.

Do something you enjoy to make someone else grateful.

What we call our passions are nature’s signals to us about where we should be… what we should be doing.

Following our passion can give us to a state of peak performance with what we call PIEC activity.

PIEC is an acronym for “Personal Income Earning Corridor.”  The PIEC concept of living, working and financial prudence differs greatly from traditional approaches to lifestyle and of accumulating wealth.

Traditionally, people get jobs to create income. They work to live and support their lifestyle while attempting to spend less than they earn. Maybe the savings will bring, some time in the future, an event or lifestyle that is enjoyable.

A PIEC lifestyle reverses the priorities. Instead of working for money to save and invest, the focus is on doing something enjoyable right now.  Learn how to enjoy the effort in some profitable way. This creates “Avenues of Abundance” that combine lifestyle with the necessary task of accumulating wealth.

For example, if a PIEC investor loves golf; instead of working six days a week, 50 weeks a year just to golf on Sundays and during short vacations, instead he’ll create a business in some aspect of the golfing trade.

In another example, a client of mine, who loved animals became a vet. But he learned that the vet’s lifestyle was not one he enjoyed. He wanted to travel and move around, which is difficult for a professional who needs to stay at his office and build a practice. So he built a business that prepares special animal foods for race horses. Now he travels globally visiting horse breeders and makes much more money as well.

PIEC investors combine money with time, energy and desires. They generate income doing something desired. Desire and fulfillment become at least as, if not more, important as the money.

The reason PIEC investing works well is that when we love to do something, we do it better, for longer and with greater enthusiasm.

These are wealth building attributes that cannot fail.

Yet PIEC investing does not mean we should suddenly abandon our jobs and try becoming golf pros, when we have never been able to break 100. Smart PIECS often require a gradual approach.

For example, as a writer and lecturer, I was never fully satisfied sitting behind a desk or standing on a podium all day long, even though I was making over a million bucks a year. I’m the physical, outdoors type and yearned for exercise and the wilds of the deep woods. “What good’s the money if this isn’t fun?” I often asked myself.

Rather than quit writing and teaching, I looked for ways to combine these professions with the outdoor life. Through research I learned that many city folk like myself yearn to be in the primitive outdoors. So I bought an isolated farm high in the Blue Ridge Mountains and an Andean plantation high in Ecuador where I am developing seminar centers with charming but simple dwellings, set in rustic surroundings, with clean water and pure air. Now I can teach in a primitive setting and after I finish the writing or talking, I run up into the woods with an axe and clear another cabin site or something physical like that. I’ve combined my writing with physical work and have blended the life I want, with my readers’ needs in a way that makes great financial sense. The cabins are projected to bring more profits than most stocks or bonds could ever return.

The process took six years to shift and we are far from finished. But while I’m doing what I love, who cares? This is one of the great benefits of PIEC investing. We can slow down and enjoy the work instead of always rushing ahead, looking for something more.

Those who work nine to five can start PIEC businesses part time if they are too uneasy to quit their jobs. Others, who like myself, already have a business can slowly shift their product or service in a sensible way and let it evolve toward their PIEC.

A PIEC lifestyle helps create a positive quantum spiral.

The driving force of these quantum wealth spirals is consciousness. The attitude and desire to be healthy and wealthy, the belief that we are healthy and wealthy or are going to be is the key that makes everything else work.

“Where does this attitude come from?” To answer this we have to look at the Quantum aspects of life. Doing this can help us with our wealth as well because the foundations of wealth have the same attitude root!

Begin with our physical selves which to our five senses looks, feels, smells, tastes and sounds solid. Yet if science is to be believed we know that we are not solid at all but something more like a string of frequencies all bundled together (this is called string theory).

We are told (and most of us believe) that if we dig deep enough we’ll find that the solid stuff that makes us is just a bunch of molecules swirling around one another separated by vast amounts (in relative terms, the molecules are as far from each other as earth is to the sun) of space. And as you’ll see in a minute if we believe it, it is real.

Plus we also believe that if we look deeper we find that even these molecules are not solid, but are again composed by bits of stuff we call atoms swirling in vast amounts of space. Nor is this the end. These atoms are also broken down into even tinier parts, electrons, neutrons, protons that are made of even smaller bosons, quarks and such.

Finally we reach a point where these smallest bits act differently than any way we can imagine in our physical world.  This is their Quantum state, a place where the essence of all physical things sometimes acts like bits of matter and other times acts like energy.

Here is the crunch. Science tells us that it is the act of observation, or our intention or attention that determines whether these bits are energy or stuff. In other words, if science is to be believed, we literally create the universe in which we live.

This first dramatically came home to me when I read an article in USA Today entitled, “Quantum Computer” which states Atomic Quantum computers (QC) will probably take the world into the next era of information technology.

The article says: The QC works in Qubits of processing power and has a different type of logic (which works on the principles of quantum mechanics) that makes their speed immense. For example a forty qubit (IBM labs have already created up to three qubit computers) processor would have all the power of today’s super computers, but would be enormously faster. A Quantum computer would be a billion times faster than a Pentium III PC. According to the article, a current super computer trying to find one number in a database of all the world’s phone books would take one month. A quantum computer would take 27 minutes! Labs around the world are pushing this science hard. IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Bell Labs, UC Berkeley are just a few U.S. concerns that have invested heavily in this technology. Because these computers will be able to break any type of code or encryption, the CIA, Pentagon etc. are both very nervous yet interested all at the same time. The government has set up a well-funded quantum computer lab at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The point? What I am about to write is not science fiction nor airy-fairy stuff. Billions are already being invested by some of the largest companies and governments in the world.

Yet all this investing is in something none of us may be able to understand or even worse can’t even believe. The article goes on to say:

Charles Bennett, IBM’s best known quantum computer scientist says, “It takes a great deal of courage to accept these things. If you do, you have to believe in a lot of other strange things.” MIT’s Neil Gershenfeld, who with IBM’s Issac Chuang built the most successful Quantum computer to date, says, “Nature knows how to compute. We just don’t know how to ask the right questions.” Here is how the computer works. All atoms have a spin of up or down, so scientists can use these spins in the same way that transistors are currently used in today’s computers to represent a 0 or 1. So far so good, but here is where the quantum factors come in that are the source of the amazing power of these computers. Atoms can have both an up or down spin at the same time until they are measured. The act of measuring forces the atom to choose between up or down.

In essence what these scientists are saying is it’s not the atom that has the spin, but the act of observation!

In other words, these computers do not depend on matter but on motion. Remember I am simply passing on what USA Today says.

IBM, Hewlett Packard, the U.S. Government and others are spending billions on right now. But Quantum weirdness does not end here. The article continues by saying that qubits don’t do calculations in linear form like current computers. They instead do all possible calculations at the same time, straddling all possible answers until the act of measuring the qubits forces them to settle on an answer. Weirder still? According to the article, the Quantum computer holds an infinite number of right answers for an infinite number of universes (remember I am not writing this, the USA Today article and the computers already exist). The computer just gives you the right answer for the universe you happen to be in at the time.

To believe in Quantum computers (which our government and private industry is spending billions on) we have to believe in parallel universes.

This is hard to grasp and then it gets even harder!

Here is more of the article: Quantum computers gain even more power because of a process called entanglement. When two atoms are observed by the same force, they become entangled and remain so even though they may be light years apart. Their spins are in all positions at once, but the instant one entangled atom is observed its spin goes one way. At that same instant, the spin of the other particle locks in the opposite direction (even though they are then light years apart). This is essential to the increased speed of Quantum computers. Today’s computers are limited to the speed, which an electron can pass through a wire (the speed of light). With entanglement, a quantum computer’s speed can blow by today’s computers because the shift in spin even over light years is instantaneous! In addition because of entanglement according to USA Today, there are ways to do Star Trek type teleportation. Remember I am not writing these words. According to USA Today, Stan Williams of Hewlett-Packard says, “The potential is so huge and it would be so disruptive it could completely change the way at least some computing is done.”

In other words, our attitude, our attention or intention or focus or beliefs (or let’s use the word faith) is what creates our world.

This explains many phenomenon (such as faith healing) and makes many events that are inexplicable with Newtonian science quite scientific. If we can affect our beliefs at the very deepest levels, the place where we connect with our Quantum state we can do anything, including making ourselves ill or well.  We can amass riches or make ourselves poor.

This not to say by any means that we should abandon logic. The key to gaining 300% of life is to use both our logic and intuition.

My logical mind has a very difficult time grappling with these ideas but believe me I have seen them work so often I now have a great deal of respect for this.

This by the way, is why I believe so deeply in the power of meditation and prayer as part of the health and wealth building process. Each is a different way of getting in touch with our most profound level of existence because each relies on faith and in terms Quantum mechanics faith (our beliefs, our attention, intention, attitudes etc.) are the key to life.

We study regularly with yatchaks, shamans, Indian Vaidyas and sages from all cultures. Here I am with Merri and the Taita Yatchak in a Llanganatis jungle.

This is a time of incredible social and technological change.   This is a time of many problems… but since problems create opportunity, this  is also a time of incredible opportunity.

Our 2013 mantra is BE POSITIVE in this negative world.  There is nothing as valuable as rarity but we need to remember that bad news sells. This means the mainstream media has slipped into offering information with an adrenaline rush.  Mayhem, murder and natural disasters.   These negative events will happen…. globally. We cannot do much about this.  Dwelling on insolvable negativity is not good for our health or wealth.

A recent quote from the Abraham Hicks website explains why nicely.

Continuing to tell stories of shortage only continues to contradict your desire for abundance, and you cannot have it both ways: You cannot focus upon unwanted and receive wanted. You cannot focus upon stories about money that make you feel uncomfortable and allow into your experience what makes you feel comfortable. A different story will bring different results: My thoughts are the basis for the attraction of all things that I consider to be good, which includes enough money, and health, for my comfort and joy.

Merri and I are in our 45th year of organizing courses, seminars and newsletters about international and Super Thinking  lifestyles. The importance of this sharing… by like minded souls… was reinforced when a delegate from a course sent an email that said:

My Dearest Merri and Gary, Thank you for your most gracious hospitality last weekend. I am just thrilled at being a part of your group. You and Gary were exactly as I imagined you to be, warm friendly, kind, considerate, genuine, helpful, fun, sincere, what else can I say……I felt so comfortable in your presence and learned so much in your course. I was sad to leave the farm that Sunday afternoon. You made us all feel so welcome and cared about. They were so nice to me and so helpful, by the time the weekend was over I felt like they were my long lost brothers. Monday morning we all had breakfast at the airport together and I was so sad to see them go, I was sad the weekend was over, perhaps sad is not the right word for how I was feeling perhaps Gratitude is a better way to describe it. This delegate’s comments about “belonging and feeling like a brother” to the other delegates is a wonderful refrain we have heard from our readers, year after year.

24 years ago Merri and I created a way that readers can join us to be immersed in a year-long learning program through our International Club.

The ideas behind this program began all those years ago in Vienna, Austria while we were conducting a course there.  One of our older delegates, had some sort of attack. The first fear was heart trouble. Several delegates took him to the hospital.  Others stayed with him there. I don’t think that delegate was alone for a minute!

Here’s one way to get a good start in the new year.  Let my 2009 error make you a hero in 2010.

Sometimes… no matter how much experience… there are ways to screw up…  as I recently did.

See below how this mistake can not only bring extra cheer to you in 2010… but can help you gain wealth… better health… asset protection and make you a hero (or heroine as the case may be) as well.  Plus save you some cash as well!

First let me share how rosy our holiday has been… filled with Ecuador roses.   (Roses like this will be part of your heroship because in a minute you’ll see how to get an Ecuador rose bouquet absolutely free…. exactly at the most important time.)

We received 100 roses… we had ordered 50 and a kind reader sent us 50 more. Thank you Barry!  After sharing, we still had a number of wonderful bouquets around the house.

Some have become wilted by now.

Now let me confess… my screw up.  Then we’ll share two great benefits (an Ecuador rose gift and more) that this error can bring to you.

Merri and I have been conducting seminars for over 30 years.

In that time we have learned many lessons.  For example…  one important lesson is… do not conduct a seminar anywhere near Christmas, Easter or Valentine’s Day.

So what did I do for 2010?

Before I admit everything, please let me mitigate this screw up by saying that scheduling these events is not the easiest task in the world.

One has to take into account US holidays, Canadian holidays…. Ecuadorian holidays… religious holidays of all sorts… what one’s competitors are doing, what our friends at Jyske Bank are doing plus in 2010 we have a Cotswold wedding to factor in  (our youngest daughter is to be married… yea!) as well.

Plus our business has really boomed.   By last October, when we normally schedule our seminars for the year ahead…  I was already being bombarded with requests for a 2010 schedule.

What more can I say.  I simply goofed under pressure and set up our first ever expanded Quantum Wealth International Business & Investing seminar for Feb. 11-14  in Mt. Dora, Florida.

In other words this course’s schedule is not near… not close… but right on Valentine’s Day.  I shudder!

Plus once our schedule is set and reservations come in…the dates are pretty well set in stone.  In the last 30 years or so I have missed a seminar only twice… once when my dad died and once last year when my mother had a serious illness. (She has recovered really nicely thank you very much).

If Merri, our kids and my mom (plus me of course) are breathing and are likely to continue to do so for a week… then our seminars are conducted!

So I realized: “I had to turn lemons into lemonade.”

I had to create a Valentine’s celebration as part of our February seminar.

I have done this in three ways so here is what I am going to do for you…. to make you a Valentine’s hero!

There are at least three simple ways to turn on this super thinking ability:  meditation, listening to 60 cycle music and taking Theanine.
These three steps integrate four categories of brainwaves, ranging from beta waves, the fastest of the four different brainwaves to alpha, theta and the final brainwave state, delta. Delta brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency.  Deep dreamless sleep takes you down to the lowest frequency.

When we allow these waves to interconnect freely we gain unimaginable intellect.

Merri and I meditate twice every day to tap into this energy.

Plus we listen to 60 beat ten cycle classical music as we work. You could count the number of times we have missed our meditation routine in the last 20 years on one hand. This helps us enormously.

This type of music, along with deep breathing exercises for relaxation moves the mind into Alpha and deeper states as well.

Health benefits are gained as blood pressure can drop, heart rates slow and the mind becomes calmed… and you become smarter.  You tap into your higher intelligence and are more likely to have… and  enjoy… success.

A third avenue that helps enhance intelligence is Theanine (chemical name: r-glutamylethylamide) one of the chemicals found in green tea. Theanine is used to reduce stress and anxiety without the tranquilizing effects found in many other calming agents. Scientific evidence shows that Theanine stimulates the brain’s production of alpha waves, making the user feel relaxed but alert and not drowsy. It also helps the body produce other calming amino acids, such as dopamine, GABA, and tryptophan. As might be expected from a calming supplement, Theanine may be able to lower elevated blood pressure as well.

Quantum wealth shares our lifestyle.  International Business & Investing shares  how we create income through service and invest globally… plus shares our most valuable contacts and sources of knowledge.

Inflation makes it increasingly hard for almost everyone to keep up with the faster and faster pace of the rat race that captures most of the world…especially in economic downturns we have experienced for the past two years.

International investments and international business unlocks the restrictions of the rat race.

Economic stress grows…debt…rising cost of insurance, increased liability…inflation lurk everywhere. More crowded…more change…more push.  The falling dollar and economic hard times are shredding purchasing power.

This leave us few choices.

We can join the rat race or…find enjoyable ways to invest and earn.

The second day of the seminar (Friday Feb 12) looks first at multi currency investing.  Multi currency portfolios are usually slow moving, safe, conservative investments but they can be really profitable as well.

How safe?

The portfolios we create and review at our courses are composed of mutual funds and shares and are developed with the help of one of the world’s safest banks. The mutual funds and shares are held at that bank at all times.

Suppose we get specific.

That safe bank is Jyske Bank…well established with a history of over 100 years. Jyske is Denmark ’s second largest bank, with 450,000 clients in Denmark and over 30,000 abroad.

Jyske Bank has over 23 billion euros in assets and also happens to be one of the leading currency traders in the world. The Danes have always been big currency traders because as a small naval country surrounded by England , Sweden , Finland , Russia , Germany , Norway and other countries…they have always had to deal in many currencies.

This historically gained expertise means that unlike most banks (that trade only eight hours a day) Jyske maintains a 24 hour global currency and commodity dealer service. Many other large banks use Jyske to handle their off hour currency positions. This means that Jyske is huge when it comes to multi currency activity. In fact their turnover reaches $50 billion dollars a day.

That’s safe.

Each course reviews global economics and updates ways to adapt and prosper in current conditions.

Now I have made another big shift in my portfolio. At the seminar you’ll see my updated portfolio and why I have made these changes.

Most teachers do not actually share their own personal portfolios…  Just as Merri and I share our home and lifestyle, we share how we invest and explain why our portfolio is designed for our circumstances at any one time.

This provides you with two benefits. First, sharing why we adjust our investments helps you understand how to adjust yours.

Second, and most important, we invest real time. The data shared in our courses is about global investments you can make in the here and now. What you learn is not dated theory, but up to the minute fact! Many delegates come to course after course to update their portfolios.

Here are a few of the international investing and business subjects we review at this course.

#1: How 100 years of global economics can enhance your international investments and international business now. Learn how history reveals currency distortions that create international investment opportunities to borrow low and deposit high. For example right now you can borrow Japanese yen at below 3%, Swiss francs below 4% to invest in international investments, international business, international real estate or other international currencies that pay 5%, 6%, 7% and even more. In one case we’ll show why it is smart to borrow Swiss francs at 3.75% and invest in international Brazilian bonds that pay up to 10% or more!

Subjects in the international investments sessions include a review of global stock markets, international currencies and international interest rates and how they are shifting versus the greenback.

Another session looks at where to find the best value international investments globally right now, plus how to spot the hottest international investment trends before they become hot.

We also cover how to cash in on currency shifts by making international investments through the Multi-Currency Sandwich (Borrow Low-Deposit High) tactic. This is a perfect time for such international investments using diversification of currencies and taking advantage of the currency distortions that now plague investors around the world.

Currency experts from Jyske Bank (Thomas Fischer was a currency trader for many years and Jyske is one of the major currency trading banks in the world) will provide data at that course on this subject.

We’ll study international investment portfolios that offer the advantage of diversification, in several cases into nine currencies and nine different investments of which more than half have strong A to AAA ratings. We will review any changes made in the international investments portfolios we track and update what and how currencies and interest rates may move in the months ahead.

#2: We’ll look at international investments in emerging stock markets and emerging bond markets as well. 2007 was the seventh consecutive calendar year in which international investments in emerging markets outperformed developed markets. In 2007 the MSCI overall Emerging Markets benchmark was up 23.8 % in US dollars compared to the MSCI World Total Return Index being down 0.08 % in US dollars.   See why 2008 fared worse for emerging markets and how this creates more potential value.

In 2008 emerging markets fell faster and further than major markets… but once again in 2009 they led the global investment pack.  Anders Neilsen, my Jyske account manager, is one of Jyske’s bond experts and will be on hand to answer bond questions.

This February’s International invest sessions look at which blend of emerging and major markets may work best in 2010.

How profitable? Though Jyske Global Asset Managers have been extremely conservative this year, their managed portfolios have risen between 12.2% and 34.4% depending of the risk profile and the size of arrangement.

Those with more emerging markets in 2009 made even more.  The emerging markets index (in US dollars) was up 58.99% compared to 23.05% for the major market index. Over three years the index on emerging markets was up 37.88% versus 17.27% for the world index. The emerging market index was up 35.63% compared to the world’s index rise of 18.43% over five years.

Then emerging markets recorded their highest ever quarterly returns in the second quarter 2009, and posted strong gains for the third quarter, up 37.4% in three months, which ranked as the ninth best in equity market history.

You’ll learn why in 2009 we were investing in BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China).These 4 countries now generate approximately 27% of the world´s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  The average annual GDP growth of a BRIC nation was greater than 7% before the recession, as compared to approximately 2% for a G-7 nation.  In the first three quarters of 2009, the growth rate for the Chinese economy beat expectations with an outstanding 8.9%.   We’ll look at a special BRIC trading idea in our 2010 seminars.

#3: One session will especially focus on international investments in alternate energy and water. For example we’ll see why Hyflux (water cleaning membranes mainly in China ) rose from $1.50 to $5 in less than a year (and why it then fell dramatically). We’ll see why water shares are destined to grow. We’ll look at Vestas (windmills) shares also up from $50 to $106. Plus we’ll update our Green Portfolio. These shares are especially interesting now as they were especially depressed in the global meltdown.

This course goes far beyond just international investments in stocks, bonds and currencies. Other sessions cover:

#3: How to cash in on distortions in international real estate from Ecuador to Lithuania! We have gained much more than just profit and international business and international investing opportunity in our international real estate searches. We have gained incredible luxury, heart- warming sweetness, breath-taking beauty, much better health and pleasant surprises at every turn. Having lived, worked and played in Ecuador now for over a decade and a half, we’ll focus heavily there, but Ecuador real estate opportunity is just one small part.

The upcoming New Year celebrations reminded me of  last year’s events event in Cotacachi.

Happy New Year!  At this time of so much change, may you find peace and joy, and may you manifest all your desires in gratitude.

I went with four friends to La Mirage Relais & Chateaux.  We walked through a cow and sheep pasture to the front gate – just a stone’s throw from our homes in San Miguel.  Can you believe that this extraordinary resort is rated as one of the top ten resorts IN THE WORLD!!!  And it is located in our sleepy little leather village, Cotacachi, population about 6,000.

It is probably the most festive New Year’s Eve celebration in my life – the food was exquisite and there were 12 courses, including 3 sorbets – one being a delicious rosemary sorbet.  The room was decorated with festive abandon and we were entertained with a show of fireworks in the gardens outside our window.  Many balloons were released skyward, spewing sparkles and the grand finale was at midnight when a 3-story structure was lit, igniting a spectacular show of animated figures and breathtaking splurges of lights.  Several men worked all day, preparing the fireworks for the event.

The people in Ecuador love to parade and celebrate – there were many parades that day, the sounds of music and fireworks everywhere.  In fact, I could hear in the distance the people of the little village up the hill from my home partying with music and singing until about ten o’clock New Years’ Day! They are hard-working, gentle and happy people and I am happy to be here enjoying the beginning of a new year in this land of eternal springtime.  What a blessing!
