Summer is here and as seasons alter, our nutrition should change.

When the seasons change, it is time to think about John Douillard’s book on nutrition, “Three Season Diet”(10.)   John is one of the physicians who has made more difference in Merri’s and my lives than any other.  I have enjoyed three of his courses, one on pulse therapy, one on quantum exercise and one on quantum nutrition.  What we learned from John has helped us sustain a high level of energy.   Merri and I are well past retirement age yet we just started our biggest business expansion yet.

Why would we do this if we don’t need the money and don’t need the work?   Simply put we are so filled with energy and ideas and creativity that we don’t even think about being in our seventies.  Age does not even seem to mean anything to us.

Part of our energy comes from our nutritional habits so this message is about how to change our nutrition with the seasons.

“Three Season Diet” shows how to lose weight, increase health and vitality by eating different foods at different times of the year.  There are three growing seasons:  spring, summer and fall.  We should have three diets we vary through the year, low calorie-low fat in spring, high carbohydrate in summer and high protein in winter.  This creates a food supply that fits the body’s requirements as it shifts to adapt to each of these seasons.

In the spring we want salads, berries, and leafy greens — a naturally low-fat diet.

And in the summer, when the days are long and hot, we require cooling and high-energy foods such as fruits and vegetables, which are a naturally available high carbohydrate diet.

In the winter, we naturally crave soups, nuts, warm grains, and other high fat and protein foods such as meat and fish.

#1: Eating a balance of fat, carbohydrates and protein.

Our diet keeps protein in balance without excessive amounts of meat.  Instead we often use quinoa, eggs, goat and natural cheese and yoghurt.  A great deal of poor health and stress is tied in to the underlying hormonal disturbance caused by the excess production of insulin. This imbalance normally comes from too much food and incorrect protein, carbohydrate, fat balances in the diet. Every time we eat, hormones in our body will change, either good or bad. Delicious food with a balance of 3 parts carbohydrates, two parts protein and one part fat has the power to orchestrate beneficial hormonal changes in our body.

#2: Eating the correct combinations of food at the correct time.

Andean nutritional ideals also focus on combining foods in a way that avoid fermentation in the stomach. Foods and spices are divided into three types neutral, savory and sweet. Neutral can be mixed with savory or sweet, but no savory and sweet foods are mixed. The main neutral foods are grains, cereals, nuts and seeds. Meat and most vegetables are savory.  Fruits are sweet. Cereals are ground and soaked to improve their digestibility. Sweet spices include cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, mint. Savory spices include salt, pepper, chiles, oregano, coriander, bay leaf, cumin, saffron, fennel. No two fats are mixed nor are fruit types.

There are times of the day when each of these elements are most active. The digestive fires are highest at 12 noon, so a savory meal is normally eaten at this time.

A sweet breakfast accommodates a more sluggish digestive time and the evening is set aside for a purifying fruit meal so the body can use the midnight fire energy to cleanse rather than digest.

Three herbal teas are served.  In the morning cinnamon tea is served. Before lunch, ginger tea lights the digestive fires and before sleep, chamomile tea enhances a good night’s rest.

Part of good nutrition comes from eating, sleeping and exercising at the correct times.

The yatchaks also suggest we eat only when hungry and the stomach is empty so we recommend eating only every four hours. For cravings between herbal tea is best and juices can be added if it is uncomfortable to wait for the next meal.

#3: Chewing in the correct way.

Correct chewing releases nutrient molecules so energy from food is more quickly released and assimilated. This allows the brain to recognize flavors and release the correct digestive juices for that food. Proper chewing does even more because it stimulates the body’s sphincter (or ring) muscles that surround the various orifices of the body.

Ring muscles include the muscles around the eyes, the nostrils, anus, urethra, genitals and the mouth. In a healthy body, all sphincters work together, contracting and relaxing simultaneously. They also activate the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal system, the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, the musculoskeletal system and the urogenital system. Ring muscles are ultimately responsible for putting all the other muscles and all the organs of the body to work.

Chewing correctly stimulates the ring muscles and consequently helps exercise all our muscles.

Secret of the Hogberry

Gain Amazing Health Benefits with the Hogberry

More than 100 studies have found that physical activity can lower cancer risk and even help cure cancer.  Fortunately researchers asked why and one answer became clear.  Body fat.

Fortunately there is a little known way to reduce body fat that does not even require exercise.  I’ll share more on this secret in a moment.

First, body fat and cancer?   Let’s ask why?

Part of the answer is toxicity.

Healthy bodies naturally and regularly remove water-soluble toxins from the body.  Our blood and kidneys flush them away.

Fat-soluble toxins such as metals, pesticides, preservatives, other pollutants are harder to flush out of the system.   Fat-soluble toxins must become water-soluble before the body can get rid of them.  The liver can do this conversion (bile emulsifies fat-souble toxins into water-soluble).  This process requires healthy digestive and detox pathways.  When they become imbalanced, fat-soluble toxins are stored in fat cells and brain cells instead.   These toxins can remain for decades and create health problems.

The fat stored toxins cause oxidation (free radical damage) and degeneration as well as mutation.  Toxins in the fatty tissue of the brain become neurotoxins that can cause cognitive problems and a host of mental and brain imbalances.

The way to avoid this storage of deadly toxicity is to keep stress down, while digestion and detoxification pathways remain good.

Burn Fat to Burn Toxins

When you burn fat not primarily for weight loss, (though you will lose weight) but for purification, you can turn on the body’s detox fuel.  Fat metabolism is the body’s natural form of energy.   Fat metabolism provides a more steady energy than glucose metabolism and flushes fat cells free of toxins.  As the toxicity drops, the nervous system has reduced stress and will naturally burn fat instead of sugar.

Intermittent fasting is one way to get the body to burn fat.  There is a way of eating that helps reduce weight, improve energy and purify the body as it returns to a state of natural health.

This is a simple easy way to improve and restore feeling good, but works best when combined with better nutrition, moderate exercise and a purification program that helps make sure that the body is not overwhelmed with too much purification at once.

The Key is in the Hogberry

Intermittent fasting is guaranteed to work, if you have even reasonable nutrition, moderate physical activity and stick with it.  The problem is in the sticking.  When the brain is hooked on metabolizing sugar it can be very demanding.   When we try going an extended period without a sugar, the brain will have a hissy fit and demand that we eat or drink something sweet or starchy or alcoholic.

Sticking through a fast just does not work when the brain pulls out its bag of tricks, from sweet whispers (just one chocolate won’t hurt- but it will!)  all the way to chills sweats and dizziness.   Intermittent fasting, without help, can require enormous discipline that most of us cannot maintain long enough.

I know, I tried intermittent fasting several times and failed.  Then I accidentally stumbled across the secret of the Hogberry that not only stops hunger but more importantly speeds up the process of switching from sugar metabolism to fat metabolism AND assists in the purifying process.  Once I tried using this support for the pancreas (among other things),  intermittent fasting became satisfying and enjoyable.  I am passing 45 days in this routine, and the steady energy just gets better and better.  I am not minding the reduced weight and better fitting clothing either!

Avoid the Secret Chargemaster

Few places can destroy health and ruin a lifetime of savings faster than a hospital.  We are at risk from pocketbook surgery and the incredibly dangerous “Secret Chargemaster”.   See below why chargemasters are normally kept secret and how to gain protection from their abuse.

Modern American health care is under pressure.  Despite horrendous costs, the system is faltering.  At times the care is more dangerous than the illness.  For example hospitals are the worst place to have a heart attack.  The University of North Carolina, did a study and found that 40% of the patients who had attacks in the hospital died before being discharged.  (The study compared that with only a 4% death rate for those who had heart attacks outside the hospital.)

Plus it was recently revealed that medical endoscopy scopes in hospitals were infecting patients with deadly drug-resistant bacteria.  The facts about this had not been previously disclosed.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that hospital-acquired infections alone kill 99,000 people each year.  Here is an even worse hospital mortality fact.

Often, what patients catch in the hospital is worse than what sent them there.  Governments and health care agencies agree  – antibiotic resistance is a “nightmare.”  An antibiotic-resistant bacteria may be spreading in more hospitals than patients know.  About one in every 25 hospitalized patients gets an infection and a 2013 report from the Journal of Patient Safety showed that medical errors are the third-leading cause of death in the country.

Along with the risk of hospital acquired illness and medical errors, the second huge threat to our well being… is health care costs, especially at hospitals.  This is because of the secrets in the Chargemaster and the people who do not want us to know how much hospital costs have risen .  Motivations beyond our good health, like corporate greed, want to keep us in the dark about health care cost.

The hospital bill above is part of a story about a $110,000 infection and why hospital “Chargemasters” are often secret.  This story tells how one person with resistant devastating infection ran up a $110,000 hospital bill only to find that Medicare would only pay $2,300 from treatment of infection.

Being in a hospital can kill as well as cure.  There are odds on that.  What is more certain is that hospitals can kill our finances.

The ‘average’ cost of hospital care is rising because the leading hospitals are front runners in figuring out how to amass market power so they can  raise prices and decrease competition.  A codeine pill that costs $20 at a hospital costs 50 cents at Rite-Aid or Walgreens.  Hospitals have “chargemasters” a price list created by each hospital, that typically has more than ten thousand entries, so almost nothing — even an aspirin, a bag of IV fluid, or a visit from a physical therapist to help a patient get out of bed — is free.  However, those lists are usually secret.

Hospital Failure

The Commonwealth Fund in its latest survey on overall health care ranked US healthcare dead last compared to 10 major countries.  Despite being worst, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Times have all warned about huge, increasingly costly, health care changes.  There are enormous problems in hospitals and chances are they are going to get worse.

When it comes to health care, we may well be on our own.  The very people, institutions and establishments that  we should rely on may actually hurt rather than help our health.  Shamanic Wisdom accumulated over the millennia can fill the gap.

When the seasons change, it is time to think about John Douillard’s book on nutrition, “Three Season Diet”.  John is one of the physicians who has made more difference in Merri’s and my lives than any other. I have enjoyed three of his courses, one on pulse therapy, one on quantum exercise and one on quantum nutrition.

What we learned from John has helped us sustain a high level of energy.   Merri and I are well past retirement age yet we just started our biggest business expansion yet.

Why would we do this if we don’t need the money and don’t need the work?  Simply put we are so filled with energy and ideas and creativity that we don’t even think about being in our seventies.  Age does not even seem to mean anything to us.

Part of our energy comes from our nutritional habits so this message is about how to change our nutrition in the Spring.

“Three Season Diet” shows how to lose weight, increase health and vitality by eating different foods at different times of the year. The concept is based partly on Ayurved, the Indian science of life and well being, which views the body as having three essences; vata (essence of motion), pitta (essence of transformation-digestion) and kapha (essence of solidity). These essences are also described as vata-air, pitta, fire and kapha, earth/water.  A key in Ayurved is to keep the three in balance.

Ayurved also recognizes differences in seasons. Spring, being a moist, fertile time of growth of course is a kapha period. Summer, naturally is a time of heat or pitta when the seeds transform into food. Finally, autumn and winter turn windy and cold. Things become brittle and dried, the time of vata. So the tendency in summer is for the fire in us (pitta) to grow excessively, spring brings kapha problems and winter hosts vata imbalances.

This book is an excellent health generator on how to lose weight, beat food cravings and get fit. John has worked on me and I have attended several of his courses including one based around his first book, “Body, Mind and Sport”.  A former professional athlete, John helped train Billy Jean King,  was a consultant to the New Jersey Nets and runs an Ayurvedic and chiropractic sports medicine practice in Boulder, Colorado.

The theme to “Three Season Diet” is that there is a surprising resolution to all the diet gurus with their conflicting nutritional research.  They are all right, but each for only about four months of the year.  The 3 season diet points out that there are three growing seasons, spring, summer and fall. We should have three diets we vary through the year, low calorie-low fat in spring, high carbohydrate in summer and high protein in winter. This creates a food supply that fits the body’s requirements as it shifts to adapt to each of these seasons.

The 3-Season Diet aligns our desires with the foods that nature has provided in season for thousands of years.

In the winter we naturally crave soups, nuts, warm grains, and other high fat and protein foods such as meat and fish.

In the spring we want salads, berries, and leafy greens — a naturally low-fat diet.

And in the summer, when the days are long and hot, we require cooling and high-energy foods such as fruits and vegetables, which are a naturally available high carbohydrate diet.

Here is what we will review about nutrition:

#1: Eating a balance of fat, carbohydrates and protein.

Our diet keeps protein balance without excessive amounts of meat using quinoa, eggs, goat and natural cheese and yoghurt instead. A great deal of poor health and stress is tied in to the underlying hormonal disturbance caused by the excess production of insulin. This imbalance normally comes from too much food and incorrect protein, carbohydrate, fat balances in the diet. Every time we eat, hormones in our body will change, either good or bad. Delicious food with a balance of 3 parts carbohydrates, two parts protein and one part fat has the power to orchestrate beneficial hormonal changes in our body.

#2: Eating the correct combinations of food for ideal digestion.

Andean nutritional ideals also focus on combining foods in a way that avoid fermentation in the stomach. Foods and spices are divided into three types neutral, savory and sweet. Neutral can be mixed with savory or sweet, but no savory and sweet foods are mixed. The main neutral foods are grains, cereals, nuts and seeds. Meat and most vegetables are savory. Fruits are sweet. Cereals are ground and soaked to improve their digestibility. Sweet spices include cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, mint. Savory spices include sale, pepper, chiles, oregano, coriander, bay leaf, cumin, saffron, fennel. No two fats are mixed nor are fruit types.

#3 & 4: Eating clean organic food prepared and served by happy, joyful people and eat in good spirits at the right times. Food should be beautiful as well…like this quinoa-feta salad we often enjoy.

Candace Pert, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist well known for her groundbreaking work that shows the mind is not just in the brain but in the entire body. The mind and body communicate using the chemistry of emotion. Short chains of amino acids called peptides and receptors are found in the brain, stomach, muscles, glands and all major organs. They send messages back and forth linking mind and body. When we are happy our entire body is happy and reverse and this chemistry has a dramatic impact on our food and digestion.

Andean beliefs view the body composed of three elements earth (Pacha Mama), fire (Taita Inti) and air, Pacha Kuti.

There are times of the day when each of these elements are most active. The digestive fires are highest at 12 noon, so a savory meal is normally eaten at this time.

A sweet breakfast accommodates a more sluggish digestive time and the evening is set aside for a purifying fruit meal so the body can use the midnight fire energy to cleanse rather than digest.

Three herbal teas are served. In the morning cinnamon tea is served. Before lunch ginger tea lights the digestive fires and before sleep chamomile tea enhances a good night’s rest.

Part of good nutrition comes from eating, sleeping and exercising at the correct times.

The yatchaks also suggest we eat only when hungry and the stomach is empty so we recommend eating only every four hours. For cravings between herbal tea is best and juices can be added if it is uncomfortable to wait for the next meal.

#5: Chewing in the correct way.

Correct chewing releases nutrient molecules so energy from food is more quickly released and assimilated. This allows the brain to recognize flavors and release the correct digestive juices for that food. Proper chewing does even more because it stimulates the bodies sphincter (or ring) muscles that surround the various orifices of the body.

Ring muscles include the muscles around the eyes, the nostrils, anus, urethra, genitals and the mouth. In a healthy body, all sphincters work together, contracting and relaxing simultaneously. They also activate the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal system, the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, the musculoskeletal system and the urogenital system. Ring muscles are ultimately responsible for putting all the other muscles and all the organs of the body to work.

Chewing correctly stimulates the ring muscles and consequently helps exercise all our muscles.

#6: Eating purifying and satisfying meals.

Fruit types also exist and are never mixed. Citrus stands together, but is not mixed with other foods. Watery fruits (apples pears, plums and grapes) can be mixed. Bananas are eaten alone only or with dairy only..never with any grains. Pineapple and melons are also eaten alone.

There are three purifying meals we will learn about during the course. The first most gentle purifier is a water combination of apples and grapes. The second meal is an entire pineapple and the third, an entire watermelon.

Organic coffee, tea and cocoa are great purifiers rich in antioxidants. Coffee and some tea is avoided by those who do not want caffeine. We recommend moderation and serve only organic, fair trade coffee and tea Coffee and tea (without milk) are neutral and can be consumed before or with any meal.

#7: Balancing nutrition with exercise and sleep.

Soon you will be reading… again, about how instability in the US dollar threatens our lifestyles.  The dollar, once the world’s reserve currency is burdened with debt and deficits that threaten economic and social order almost everywhere.  This is nothing new.  In fact, deterioration in the greenback is one reason for a seven decade downward spiral in your and my freedom.  When we work hard and save carefully, but get less and less in return, we become boxed in.  It’s a never ending rat race.  This is a trap, a downwards spiral where the more dollars we get the less we can buy.

A downward spiral of the US dollar began the downward spiral of our freedom.

Fortunately there are secrets that will allow a few to live much better, free of debt and worry despite the decline in the dollar’s purchasing power.   My wife Merri and I have traveled, lived, worked and invested around the world for nearly 50 years to gain this information.  Let me share the basics of this data and how it can help you.

The first fact behind this secret is that things are really good in the western world.  Despite the many problems, we are surrounded by more abundance and greater opportunity than almost anyone has ever enjoyed, anywhere, ever.   To enjoy a fair share of this wealth, all we have to do is understand human nature and learn how to invest in the new economy, as it changes and becomes new, again and again.  Merri and I have made seven huge transitions in the 50 years.  Each has allowed us to always stay ahead of losses that the majority of Americans suffer.  We are in another transition right now and want to share why and what to do so you can stay ahead and live a richer, independent life too.

The concept of democracy, as we learned it, has weakened, but we still have free will and do not have to let poor government, wars, economic and social injustice blur our well-being.  We can still be free and responsible for our health, our income and our wealth.  The majority of people blame on government and big business for economic failure.  They want them to fix the problems, step back from the change and rebuild from what they perceive as ruin.

The few who succeed see change as a gift instead.   No change is a guarantee that nothing gets better.  Evolution brings destructive innovation but such change is not ruin. It is opportunity.

The change in the purchasing power of the US dollar is one of the greatest risks we have to our independence, safety, health, and wealth, but is also a chance for huge profit as I explain below.   Though the greenback has been strong for a number of years, its strength is in serious jeopardy.  The growing federal deficits increase the national debt and this with rising interest rates propels a growing debt service.

When the Dow Jones Industrial Average recently passed 20,000, another milestone of “20” took place that has a much darker meaning to your and my spending power.  The U.S. national debt passed the $20 trillion mark.

The problem is that the Dow will come back down.  National debt will not fall.

In the past decade US debt nearly doubled and the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the rate of  debt will continue to rise for at least ten more years.  That debt is all the debt issued by the US  Department of the Treasury since 1790.  In other words in the ten years from 2006 to 2016 the US government added as much debt as it had accumulated in the previous 216 years!

That number does not include state and local debt.  That number doesn’t include so-called “agency debt ( debt issued by federal agencies and government-sponsored enterprises) which is “guesstimated” to be another $8.6 trillion or so.  That  dreadful number does not include the so-called unfunded liabilities of entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Do you feel burdened by personal debt?  Well, add the Federal National Debt because per person it is over $60,000.  If one adds in all the other debt each and every American owes over $100,000!   For each family of four, our friendly Congress has added an extra $400,000 debt.

How can America pay this back?

The answer is they cannot.  However there is good news.  Payback actually does not matter.  No one expects the US or any country to ever pay back all its debt.  Isn’t that nice? We all owe $100,000 but don’t have to pay it back?  Right?

Here is the bad news.  Everyone does expect every country to pay its national debt service.   This is why we know there will be a downward dollar spiral.  You see when debt service gets too high, governments always let the purchasing power of the currency fall.  It’s a dirty trick.  Someone owes you a bunch of dollars every month and they pay it.  The problem is those dollars buy less clothing, less food, less housing and energy and less everything.

Wait a minute isn’t that good for us?  If we each owe a $100,000 but get to pay it back in devalued dollars, don’t we reduce our debt?   Yes, but those are the same dollars we are paid with.  Those are the same dollars that pay for our food, our clothing and our shelter. Those are the same dollars in our savings account so the reduced purchasing power lowers our standards of living too!

Go to the store.  Buy some bread or, heaven forbid, some fresh vegetables like peppers or fruit.   Look at the cost of your prescription or hospital bills.   Do something simple like have your car serviced at an auto dealer.  Look at the dollars you spend and you’ll see what I mean.

A huge dollar conundrum looms from the rising national debt service as well.  During most of the last decade when the national debt was skyrocketing, interest rates were plunging and remained really low.  Now rates are starting to rise as will the US national debt service.  This chart from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) shows that debt service is expected to more than triple in the next ten years.

Largely due to the Federal Reserve’s aggressive efforts to keep interest rates low, the U.S. government is paying historically low rates on its debt.

The CBO projects, unless the law changes, US national interest costs will more than double over the next 10 years, rising from $270 billion in 2017 to $712 billion in 2026 and totaling $4.8 trillion over the period.  Interest costs are expected to continue climbing beyond the next 10 years and are projected to be the third largest category in the federal budget by 2028 (after just Social Security and Medicare), the second largest category in 2046, and the single largest category in 2050.

These interest costs add up to trillions of dollars that won’t be spent on roads, on the military, on health care or the environment or schools.  That rising debt service creates a vicious cycle that can only lead to a devaluation of the US dollar so the debt can be paid, but in phony terms.

The loss of the dollar’s purchasing power erodes our independence, our freedom and our savings and wealth as well. 

At the same time, low interest rates by big banks and higher health care costs soak up the ever diminishing income and savings we have left.  According to a Gallup poll, the most unpopular three institutions in America are big corporations & Wall Street banks, HMOs and Congress.  Yet there is little we can do because these institutions are in control.

Over the last 50 years the average income for 90 percent of the American population fell.  Our health system is restricted by a Kafka-esque maze of legislation and insurance regulations that delay, frustrate, and thwart attempts by patients and doctors from proper medical care.  Big banks and corporations restrict our freedom of choice.  The business customer relationships are no longer transactions between free equals.

Banks can trap us in indebtedness at every age from student loans to mortgages to health care costs.  They pay almost nothing on our savings.  They hide unexpected fees and payments in complex and unreadable documents.  Banks and big corporations routinely conceal vital information in small print and then cheat.  Weak regulations and lax enforcement leave consumers with few ways to fight back.  Many of these businesses ranging from cable TV to phone and internet service to health insurance have virtual monopolies that along with deceptive marketing destroys any form of free market.

These same companies control the credit-scoring agencies so if  we don’t pay unfair fees, our credit scores will plunge and we could lose the ability to borrow money, rent an apartment, even to get a job.  Many consumers are forced to accept “arbitration clauses” in lieu of  legal rights.  The alternative is to lose banking, power, and communication services.

Big business has also usurped our privacy.  Internet companies sell our personal data.  Personal information is pulled from WiFi and iPhones track and store our movements.  The government can access this information, sometimes without subpoenas.  There’s a lot that we don’t know, often withheld under the guise of “National Security.”

The glow on Western democratic capitalism has dimmed… or so it seems.  The US, leading the way, is still a superpower with economic, innovation and military might, but the institutions that should serve the people have become flawed or broken.

America’s infrastructure is in shambles.  The nation’s bridges are crumbling, many water systems are filled with toxins, yet instead of spending more to fix this, we build more prisons.  The 2.2 million people currently in  jail is a 500 percent increase over the past thirty years.  60% of the inmates belong to ethnic groups.  Not just non-white ethnic groups are suffering.  Annual death rates are falling for every group except for middle-aged white Americans.  Death rates are rising among this group driven by an epidemic of suicides and afflictions stemming from substance abuse, alcoholic liver disease and overdoses of heroin and prescription opioids.

America’s middle class is shrinking.  Nearly  half of America’s income goes to upper-income households now.  In 1970 only 29 percent went to this group.  How can we regain our freedom, our happiness and our well being in such a world?  What can we do?

The answer to a better, freer life is to combine better health, higher income and greater savings for a happier, more resilient lifestyle.

Often, what patients catch in the hospital can be worse than what sent them there.  Governments and health care agencies agree  – antibiotic resistance is a “nightmare.”  An antibiotic-resistant bacteria may be spreading in more hospitals than patients know.  About one in every 25 hospitalized patients gets an infection and a 2013 report from the Journal of Patient Safety showed that medical errors are the third-leading cause of death in the country.

New International Investing Era


A new international investing era could be created by a destructive scientific fundamental that is now so powerful it could overwhelm all other factors determining our wealth. This danger has such power that it could destroy most investors and much worse… end civilization as we know it.

The most frightening part is that this force could unleash its destruction on us… now… at any time!

I want to share what, why and when this disaster could happen.

Then, I want to share how you can be protected rather than ruined.  We’ll even see how this, with luck, could be the creator of untold wealth which you, I, and a handful of cautious, insightful investors could share.

Before I explain how to safeguard your family from this possible upcoming disaster, let me explain that I first began to understand the magnitude of the risk after reading the New York Times best selling novel “One Second After” written by bestselling author, William R. Forstchen.

The story had extra meaning for me because it shows life in a small North Carolina town (similar to where Merri and I live during the summer) after an electro magnetic pulse is detonated by terrorists over the United States.

In the story the electrical grid and anything using a computer stopped working due to an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) created by just three small nuclear devices, launched from container ships and detonated high above the USA.

Without central communication and distribution, mass devastation and chaos ensued immediately.   The agony was terrible and life almost unfathomably complicated.

What made this fiction meaningful is that the book really documents and details the West’s dangerous reliance on technological systems which are so extensive that no one even recognizes them any more.

Adding to the terror of this book is a forward by Newt Gingrich and and afterword by Captain Bil Sanders (USN) one of the foremost experts on EMP. His comment  on how an EMP exploded over the US would create the Compton effect and how it would have “devastating consequences on our country” should be examined and understood.

It was Captain Sanders’ deep understanding of EMPs that made the warning in this book so powerful.

In a moment we’ll share ways to protect against this disaster… that could happen to all of us… suddenly… at any time.

First here are three facts that you should know.

EMP Fact #1: Many countries, including the US have EMP weapons that have nothing to do with a nuclear bomb and are quite small. They essentially put out a high energy very sharp spike of energy – high frequency and very short wavelength, short duration pulse.

However it is the nuclear EMP device that creates the greatest risk.  These are nuclear bombs that DO NOT CREATE DAMAGE FROM THEIR BLAST, HEAT OR NUCLEAR FALLOUT.   Instead the weapons create an electrical wave that fries just about anything with a computer.  A survey of open sources over the past decade finds that knowledge about EMP and EMP attack is evidenced in at least Britain, France, Germany, Israel, Egypt, Taiwan, Sweden, Cuba, India, Pakistan, Iraq under Saddam Hussein, Iran, North Korea, China and Russia.

Russian and Chinese military scientists in open source writings have shown how to design nuclear weapons that generate an extra powerful EMP effect called Super-EMP that can destroy even the best protected military and civilian electronic facilities.

EMP Fact #2:  This risk has grown to such an extent that America’s electrical grid is so vulnerable to terrorist attack that the Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson is pushing a bill to give the energy commission broad authority for “true emergency situations.”

This is explained in a recent USA Today article entitled “Electrical grid vulnerable to terrorist attack”  by Thomas Frank.  Here are excerpts from that article: It sounds like a science-fiction disaster: A nuclear weapon is detonated miles above the Earth’s atmosphere and knocks out power from New York City to Chicago for weeks, maybe months.

Experts and lawmakers are increasingly warning that terrorists or enemy states could wage that exact type of attack, idling electricity grids and disrupting everything from communications networks to military defenses.

An expert panel that Congress created to study such an attack says it would halt banking, transportation, food, water and emergency services and “might result in defeat of our military forces.”

“The consequences would be catastrophic,” said Joseph McClelland, director of the energy commission’s Office of Electric Reliability. Full recovery could take up to 10 years, he said.

The scenario involves a phenomenon called an “electromagnetic pulse,” or EMP, which is essentially a huge energy wave strong enough to knock out systems that control electricity flow across the country.

The immediate effect would resemble a blackout. Although blackouts can be restored quickly, an EMP could damage or destroy power systems, leaving them inoperable for months or longer.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., is pushing a bill to give the energy commission broad authority.

At a committee hearing in July, Steve Naumann of energy giant Exelon said the authority should be limited to “true emergency situations.”

The commission studying the threat says the U.S. is ill-prepared to prevent or recover from an EMP, a vulnerability could invite an attack.

“We are not well-protected at all,” said Michael Frankel, who was executive director of the commission.

EMP Fact #3:  If an EMP event takes place, the Western World could quickly run out of food. Here is an excerpt of a transcript of a speech given by Professor Sir John Beddington, chief scientific adviser to the British government, at the GovNet SDUK09 event.  This has become know as “The Perfect Storm” speech.

I spoke here last year at about the same time about the issue of the food crisis and the burgeoning increases in food prices that were being driven by population growth, use of biofuels and so on.

The first problem here is that we really have a major issue. This graph takes a little bit of explanation; it is the ratio of our reserves to our consumption. What it is showing is that last year is the lowest level of reserves that we have had as a proportion of our consumption in years, since 1970 and actually since records were taken of this sort.

That means that we’ve got somewhere like reserves of around 14% of our consumption, that implies, give or take, 38 or 39 days of food reserves if we don’t grow any more.

As you can see, it’s the lowest level that we’ve actually had.  Is that a problem?  Well the answer is yes it is going to be a problem.  We saw the food spike last year; prices going up by something in the order of 300%, rice went up by 400%, we saw food riots, we saw major issues for the poorest in the world, in the sense that the organisations like the World Food Programme did not have sufficient money to buy food on the open market and actually use it to feed the poorest of the poor.

But this is England, not North America.  Right?

Beddingdon’s note shows that North America might not be able to rely on Europe for much food assistance and…

America’s food reserves are even worse as explained in this excerpt from last year’s article “The US has no grain reserves” published in the Tri State Observer, Milford, PA. The excerpt says:  Larry Matlack, President of the American Agriculture Movement (AAM), has raised concerns over the issue of U.S. grain reserves after it was announced that the sale of 18.37 million bushels of wheat from USDA’s Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust.

“According to the May 1, 2008 CCC inventory report there are only 24.1 million bushels of wheat in inventory, so after this sale there will be only 2.7 million bushels of wheat left the entire CCC inventory,” warned Matlack. “Our concern is not that we are using the remainder of our strategic grain reserves for humanitarian relief. AAM fully supports the action and all humanitarian food relief.

Our concern is that the U.S. has nothing else in our emergency food pantry. There is no cheese, no butter, no dry milk powder, no grains or anything else left in reserve. The only thing left in the entire CCC inventory will be 2.7 million bushels of wheat which is about enough wheat to make 1⁄2 of a loaf of bread for each of the 300 million people in America.” (MY BOLD)

The CCC is a federal government-owned and operated entity that was created to stabilize, support, and protect farm income and prices. CCC is also supposed to maintain balanced and adequate supplies of agricultural commodities and aids in their orderly distribution.

“This lack of emergency preparedness is the fault of the 1996 farm bill which eliminated the government’s grain reserves as well as the Farmer Owned Reserve (FOR),” explained Matlack.

This is backed up by a Scienceblog article that says: “The US Government Has Zero Grain Reserves.”

In 1996, the Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 (“Freedom to Farm Act”) called for elimination of government stockpiles of grain.  I’m sure someone thought it made sense, at the time.

Now, the United States government has no reserves of butter, cheese, dry milk, barley, corn, oats, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, rice, sugar, honey, peanuts, canola seed, crambe, flaxseed, mustard seed, rapeseed, safflower seed, sunflower seed, peas, lentils, chickpeas, and cotton.  [Source: US Farm Service Agency, Current CCC Inventory (PDF file)]

The book, “One Second After”, clearly and very dramatically (but I am not sure how accurately) drives home the point that unless a person takes a unique financial stance that his finances, and maybe even his or her life, could be wiped out.   Many military and scientific studies support this monumental economic, social and life threatening risk.

Yet you do not have to ruined by EMP.  You may even find that this potential weapon will create extra ordinary wealth that a few investors will share.  Here is how and why.

First, there is no proof that an EMP event as described above would create quite the havoc mentioned above.

Here is how one scientist whom I have known for years and trust completely, explains this.

“I’m not sure how large an effect the nuclear device would have above the atmosphere — the pulse might dissipate somewhat along the earth’s electromagnetic field.  It would probably take out a lot of communications and military satellites.

“Electronic devices that are not attached to any power source and that do not have an antenna when the EMP pulse hits could survive – even better with some shielding material.”

EMPs could be the driving force for the next investing era.

Just like the nuclear threat in the Cold War…  an EMP attack may never happen.   Yet because it could… the perception of risk… has created a huge rush by many governments to develop new weapons and forms of protection… just as during the Cold War.

This site and our multi currency site have repeated many times how stock market bulls and bears are based on cycles of human interaction, war, technology and productivity.

These cycles are intricately connected with the new waves of productivity that grow from the great human platform of combat. The cycle goes like this.

An economic downturn enhances a war or threat of war. Struggles for survival in the war (like the Civil War, WWI, WWII and the Cold War (WWIII), super charge inventiveness that creates new forms of productivity…the steam engine, the internal combustion engine,  production line processes, jet engines, TV, farming techniques, plastics, telephone, computer and lastly during the Cold War, the internet.

Each new invention helped win a war.  Shifting the technology to domestic use… after the war… created a boom.

Each boom leads to excess.

Each excess led to a correction.  The correction creates an economic downturn.

The economic downturn enhances a war or threat of war.

Here we are… in the correction again… at the correct time when we should expect that another war (or threat of war such as the Cold War) should begin to build!   This latest downturn started almost exactly (1998), 16 years after the last boom began (1982)…which began after the last great human struggle called the Cold War.

If the cycle repeats, the struggle should build now due to the poor economy.

The key for spotting the greatest investment opportunities is to spot the next big invention… the technology that will spin out of WWIV.

The key is that a problem must have such severe consequences (such as losing the war and being destroyed) that all stops… all logics of return on investment are ignored.  Technology and research are pushed full steam ahead regardless of cost. The threat must be real and serious… like EMP.

There are seven steps you can take to assure that you are not destroyed by an EMP.

#1:  Move well away from the USA…. to an agriculturally based country.  This is one reason Merri and I have been active in Ecuador for nearly 15 years.

#2: Move to Small Town USA.  Our sites have been looking at the benefits of this for years and why we live on agricultural property.

#3:  Create your own source of food.

#4: Create a local source of hardened energy and communications.  This is one reason our newest real estate purchase is also agricultural property and already has a HAM radio tower installed.

#5: Keep some gold and or silver on hand.

#6: Know how to take care of your own health.

#7:  Hold some assets outside of North America.

Merri and I have already taken six of these seven steps… and are well on our way to completing the seventh step.  From this we learned one really important point.

You should not suffer in the process of  gaining this protection either.

Merri and I did not move to the country… buy our Blue Ridge farm… set up our own food supply… start our garden… buy agricultural land in Florida… get a ham radio tower… buy gold and silver… organize assets out of the US and become involved in taking care of our own health naturally because we were worried about EMPs.  We did so because we wanted to.

Chances are that an EMP attack will NOT take place.  During the Cold War nuclear bomb shelters were not required!

Yet can we take a chance?  Ignoring this risk and with no action is not the answer either.

Instead let’s share ways and lifestyle alterations that protect as they provide joy, satisfaction, better health and enhanced wealth.

You may not be able to (or want) to move your home abroad or to a rural area.   Yet gardening, even in urban areas,  can be healthy and fun.  Holding some precious metals is probably a good investment anyway.  We should be taking care of our health even when their is no threat of war.

Here are the three shamanic lessons.

Recessions and depressions destroy many investors and businesses. Yet these times of cleansing are also the breeding ground for the next group of extreme rich.

Why do some succeed when so many fail?

They have different ways of thinking…gaining energy and seeing beyond the accepted logic.

No one can see the future. It is hard to be energetic and forward moving in tough times. Perhaps this is why only a few become rich and healthy.

The thought process, processing knowledge and natural health have always fascinated me as have the legends of Old Ones the “Abuelos” who live high in the Andes hiding sacred knowledge for longevity, high energy and success.

Merri and I were so intrigued that we bought Hacienda Rosaspamba, high in the Andes and lived with a Taita Yatchak and his apprentices to learn more.

Here is the hacienda and the view we enjoyed each day as we rose.

The Taita Yatchak invited Merri and me to hike into the mists and clouds of the Llanganatis, the sacred valley, which legends say contain hidden Incan gold. I suspect the gold is golden knowledge…not the yellow metal!

To find out, and learn more on how to think for true success…in health and wealth, we invited friends, two MDs and a Sanskrit scholar to hike in with us. Here we are, on top of the world, starting that trek.

The first shamanic lesson was to trust our inner vision. The picture below shows Merri and me with Dr. Jay Glaser an MD, Ayurvedic physician and Sanskrit scholar overlooking the sacred LLanganatis Valley.

Here is how we learned this lesson. The yatchak put us on a path like above. Told us to look ahead. Then close our eyes and walk the path. “Trust your inner vision,” he said.

The second shamanic lesson was to purify oneself from the outside in and the inside out at the same time. Be pure in eating, action and thought. Always keep cleansing…mind and body.

For example, we stayed in an open air hut during our time in the LLanganatis. The mists there have negative ions that neutralize free radicals in the skin.

We brought a Sanskrit expert because the Andean language is based on Sanskrit, a language from India. What made this tidbit special was that we were already studying Ayurved, the Indian science of life…health…pure thought.

We learned for example that the name “Llanganatis” is linked to Indian philosophy. Llanganatis means “Repeated Sacred Action” (the Sanskrit word is Yagya). This led us to a third shamanic lesson…”See beyond logic”.

This helped Merri and me understand how to use Vedic Astrology to see a bigger picture beyond logic. The Indians were able to maintain their ancient wisdom in a more refined and usable way than the Andeans, mainly because the Spanish destroyed most of the Andean Quipos, (knotted cords of different colors used by the ancients to store knowledge).

We learned to integrate the wisdom we have gained from India and the Andes to think and act Beyond Logic.

Our astrologer is Blaine Watson who has been an incredible help when it comes to making decisions that we cannot process just with logic. Blaine is an expert in the wisdom from India and Ayurved.

For example, our daughter Elle graduated from University in London with a degree in dramatic arts. Her question to Merri and me was “Should I go for a career in singing or go on and get a teacher’s certificate in Physical Education?” (She was a superb athlete as well as an aspiring singer.)

We all agreed that becoming a singer was a long shot. Teaching was safe. But we knew that her passion was to shoot for being a star. How would she feel in later life if she didn’t try?

We had Blaine check her Vedic chart. He knew nothing about Elle but said at that time she had just moved into a cycle for three years when her best thing would be the performing arts, entertaining, etc. That was enough to convince us. “Go for it”, we said and encouraged her.

Within a week she was picked as a backup singer with Modern Romance, a popular English rock group with many top hits in the UK including the theme song from the movie, “Shrek”.

Her first gig was before 4,000 fans! In the ensuing year she met many of her rock star heroes as work associates. This was an incredible experience for her and led her to buying a franchised performing arts school called Stagecoach, where see now earns hundreds of thousands a year.

May I say with due respect that Eleanor is the last child that we ever thought would be a business woman. No logic could have shown us this. Yet she approached this business with incredible discipline and dramatically expanded the school. In her first year her profits were in six figures. Her second year took her well into six figures. Today at 27 she lives in a very expensive home on the River Thames. She has a new car, new kitchen, everything she wants and an income in the top 5% of the world.

Her success has been beyond logic!

The inability to measure the results of astrology used to bother me enormously until years ago I read an article about Aristotle Onassis, the ultra rich Greek shipping magnate. He gave the secret of being a billionaire that helped me look beyond my logic. “Certainly one does not need an astrologist to become a millionaire.” Then he quickly added that “to become a billionaire, it is essential.”

Onassis’ statement really struck a chord with me as my many years of residence in Hong Kong had exposed me to many businessmen who looked beyond logic. I heeded the astrological advice because the Chinese businessmen are often considered superstitious due to their belief in astrology. Some might consider their sight beyond logic, offbeat and unreal, but there were more billionaires per capita in Hong Kong than anywhere else in the world!

The more I thought about this, the more it made sense. To make billions one has to take enormous risks and see a big picture far into an invisible future.

We all have to make some decisions based on events we cannot totally predict, but successful billionaires make huge decisions based on enormous unknowns. It requires incredible faith to take incredible risks. None of us can see the whole picture but Astrology, albeit vaguely, helps us see the biggest picture of all.

During economic downturns, times seem even more uncertain. Previous history is of little use so these deeper, more subtle ways of processing information become even more important.
