How to Gain Longevity Strength


Exercise for longevity goes far beyond strength.  Here is an excerpt from “Smooth Moves”, our third report about shamanic secrets that support natural longevity and health.

Heavy exercise is not required for good natural health and can actually be detrimental to longevity.   If your exercise time is limited, consider replacing muscular exercise with the other types of longevity exercises shown below.

Exercise Beyond Strength

All of the shamanic sciences view good health as a correct balance of various energies flowing naturally throughout the body.

Most ancient health and longevity disciplines contain numerous routines aimed at creating good inner health, flexibility and energy rather than muscular strength. They include exercise of:

Glands

Smooth muscles (involuntary non-striated muscles)

Nerves

Spine

Cardio vascular system

Lymph system

Voluntary skeletal muscles

A good description of gland exercise is in “The Book of Internal Exercise – Complete System of Self Healing” by Stephen T. Chang.

Chang outlines seven routines that cascade energy into the glandular system.  Each step helps the next step.  When the glands are in order, the smooth (involuntary) muscles respond more effectively to exercise.  When the smooth muscles are strong, the cardio vascular system gains more from exercise and when the heart and lungs work right, the lymph cleans the system better so that exercise of the spine, nerves and voluntary muscles are more effective as well.

Chang’s book outlines how the seven glands are connected and how good health comes when each of these glands is energized and exchanges energy with the other glands in a balanced way.

The idea behind the internal exercise philosophy is to start a positive glandular cascade.

Chang writes:

“Muscular bodies do not protect the body against disease-causing agents; internal organs do.  That is why, in Tao of Revitalization, the emphasis is upon motions that are natural to the inclinations of the body and that energize, heal, and regenerate the entire body through “exercising” the internal organs.  But if one must do external exercises, one must also do internal exercises to recover what is depleted.

“These seven glands may be visualized as vessels that are attached to one another by a series of arteries or tubes. Each vessel (gland) is dependent upon all the others for its supply of liquid energy.  If vessel A (the sexual glands) is supplied with liquid this fluid will slowly disperse through the arteries to the remaining six vessels.  Similarly if vessel C (the pancreas) were to be drained excessively of its fluids (through a leak of some sort) each of the other vessels would give up a portion of their supply to replenish an equilibrium within the system.  This is similar to how energy flows within our bodies.

One way to balance the glands is with sound.  Sound exercises treat the energy processing centers as tuning forks.

Different frequencies cause different centers to resonate and energize different organs or glands.

For example, the root energy center controls the adrenal gland.  The solar plexus energy center controls the pancreas.

There are exercises to balance the glands via the energy processing centers by chanting through the musical scale with each note matching an energy center.

The root energy center is energized by the note C and the chant LAM.  The solar Plexus energy center is energized by the note E and the chant RAM.

Sound… as seemingly as simple as OM… can give our exercise routine a kick start.

If the glands are energized first, then other exercises accomplish more.  Sound has profound effects on glands and their corresponding systems by creating specific hormones.  The pituitary gland is the first to respond to exercise.

The pituitary secretes several hormones but the most important is the human growth hormone (HGH).  This stimulates the the body to increase bone, muscle, etc. but also stimulates the thyroid and adrenal gland and so on.

One way to view this duality is that beginning with glandular exercise, we start from the bottom up whereas skeletal muscle excursive starts from the top down.

There are many ways to start this balancing act, but many of the ancient disciplines start with the glands first.

Fortunately, there is a little known way to reduce body fat that does not even require exercise.  I’ll share more on this secret in a moment.

First, body fat and cancer? Let’s ask why?

Part of the answer is toxicity.

Healthy bodies naturally and regularly remove water-soluble toxins from the body. Our blood and kidneys flush them away.

Fat-soluble toxins such as metals, pesticides, preservatives, other pollutants are harder to flush out of the system. Fat-soluble toxins must become water-soluble before the body can get rid of them. The liver can do this conversion (bile emulsifies fat-souble toxins into water-soluble). This process requires healthy digestive and detox pathways. When they become imbalanced, fat-soluble toxins are stored in fat cells and brain cells instead. These toxins can remain for decades and create health problems.

The fat stored toxins cause oxidation (free radical damage) and degeneration as well as mutation. Toxins in the fatty tissue of the brain become neurotoxins that can cause cognitive problems and a host of mental and brain imbalances.

The way to avoid this storage of deadly toxicity is to keep stress down, while digestion and detoxification pathways remain good.

Burn Fat to Burn Toxins

When you burn fat not primarily for weight loss, (though you will lose weight) but for purification, you can turn on the body’s detox fuel (2). Fat metabolism is the body’s natural form of energy. Fat metabolism provides a more steady energy than glucose metabolism and flushes fat cells free of toxins. As the toxicity drops, the nervous system has reduced stress and will naturally burn fat instead of sugar.

Intermittent fasting is one way to get the body to burn fat. There is a way of eating that helps reduce weight, improve energy and purify the body as it returns to a state of natural health.

This is a simple easy way to improve and restore feeling good, but works best when combined with better nutrition, moderate exercise and a purification program that helps make sure that the body is not overwhelmed with too much purification at once.
