Merri’s and my mission is to help our readers understand how much more they know and are through Super Thinking.
To prove this here is a three part series based on just a portion of one of 17 lessons we teach in our Super Thinking + Spanish course. This small portion will teach you hundreds of Spanish words in just 47 seconds if you read at my normal speed. By the end of the three part series you’ll be able to form effective sentences in Spanish.
Lesson #1: Almost every single word that ends in ion is equal in English and Spanish. A walk through life below shows the English word in bold and Spanish word after the sentence in Italics.
Life begins at conception. Concepcion
After gestation our creation comes at birth… our first respiration is the introduction to the material world Gestación – Respiracion – Creacion - Introduccion
We begin to gain control of our body so we can have manipulation over our environment. Manipulacion
Our spiritual growth may begin with our confirmation. Confirmacion
We begin to walk… our first transportation. Transportacion
We learn to talk.. our form of social communication. Comunicacion
Education becomes formal at school. Educacion
Often before we can merge with the school population we must have vaccinations. Populacion – Vacunacion
We have many examinations at school for verification of our learning. Examinacion – Verificacion
If our exam results are good we feel elation. If grades are bad there could be some recrimination of our reputation. Elation – Recriminacion – Reputacion
Our parents and school may even start an investigation. Investigacion
We may be assigned a tutor for extra preparation. Preparacion
At graduation we have a great celebration. Graduacion – Celebracion
To get into the work place we start making job applications. Aplicacion
Passion attracts us to a potential spouse after a presentation. Pasion – Presentacion
There is flirtation, perhaps a proposition and excitation. Flirtacion – Proposicion – Excitacion
Cohabitation often comes next. Cohabitacion
Then perhaps there is marriage with a reception and a new habitation. Recepcion – Habitacion
Procreation is the natural consequence. Procreacion
Obligation to family is a result. Obigacion
Dedication to work helps us fulfill this familial duty. Dedicacion
Fabrication of products or services is the way we earn. Fabricacion
Many have trepidation of job termination and overcome it with aggression. Trepidacion – terminacion – agresion
If we work too hard our family suffers and married couples often have a separation. Separacion
Vacations help avoid this and keep us balanced with work. Vacacion
Recreation is essential to well being. Recreacion
Otherwise stress can hurt digestion and lead to inflamation. Digestion – Inflamacion
If we get too far out of balance we can have problems with friends, family and business which can lead to litigation,
ruination and even the police station. Litigacion – Ruinacion – Estacion
Medication is the result of not being balanced. Medicacion
We can regain our balance with meditation that helps us stay in touch with our larger life’s mission. Meditacion – Mision
We can dramatically increase the effectiveness of our work and reduce stress with with relaxed concentration which brings clear thinking… wisdom and relaxation in action. Concentracion – Relaxacion – Accion
Tradition tries to get is to retire from service in the process of maturation. Tradicion Maturacion
Our lifetime of experience brings us wisdom and veneration from those with less life experience. Veneracion
Then we make the great transformation and pass to a broader universe. Transformacion
Not all of these Spanish words are exactly correct… but this is okay. A study for the CIA showed that the key to speaking a second language well is to start even though you are not perfect so we keep the Spanish words similar to English because we want you to know a word that works first so you’ll have a sufficient command to start the trial and error process that leads to perfection.
Now you have 58 Spanish words in your vocabulary that you already knew but perhaps did not know you knew. This took less than 47 seconds and you know hundreds more. In fact with the 17 lessons you know 4005 Spanish words.
The amazing thing is that Spanish is the least important part of our Super Thinking + Spanish courses.
One delegate Rob Christi who took the Super Thinking + Spanish course in Cotacachi Ecuador explained this perfectly and put it this way (bolds and underscores are mine): After three days, I can speak Spanish in complete sentences. In simple conversations, such as buying groceries or ordering a meal, I can make myself understood. I think that’s incredible! Although I am far from the competence level of a native speaker, I feel I’ve taken a giant step forward in learning Spanish so that I can experience the people and culture of Ecuador. The foregoing benefits would have more than justified the time and money I invested in Super Thinking Super Spanish. And learning Spanish was not the most important benefit I got from the course. In recent years, I’ve rarely relaxed (No wonder I have had high blood pressure!). In class, the past three days, I’ve been introduced to the calming effects of Baroque music. What a blessing! What good is Spanish if you are sick, unhappy, thinking unclearly or worse dead from stress? Misery and failure may be different words in English.
