Protection – Radiation & Travel – Part Three

This is part three of today’s Q&A about radiation protection and all types of safety wherever we go.

One way to avoid radiation is to move into distant mountains like the Andes and the community of Vilcabamba.

Many readers have moved or are moving to Ecuador for many reasons… the sun… lower cost of living…. less government interference… the sweet people… new opportunity… adventure… good, low cost medical and dental help.

Now there is another  reason.  Ecuador is much further away from Japan and the radiation coming from there.

However many readers need protection when looking for real estate.

One recent message looked at some incredible losses readers have had due to triple dipping.  So wherever you go… whatever you do, check carefully on those you deal with.

Readers have been asking for a Vilcabamba real estate attorney so I am passing along this note a reader just emailed: Gary and Merri, Hola from Vilcabamba:

You mentioned in the via information update that you had neither heard of, nor had you received any recommendations for the Loja-based attorney Dr. Marco Antonio Munoz Mendieta. Please accept note this as my personal endorsement of the Estudio Juridico of Munoz and Munoz to your readers.

He is a highly respected multi-lingual (English, Spanish, French) attorney who maintains offices in both Loja and Vilcabamba. Marco specializes in Immigration, Property, Commercial and other aspects of non-criminal law. He is my personal attorney of record and serves as such for many others in the Extrajanero community here in Southern Ecuador.

His reputation and client satisfaction certainly merits his being added to your list of available English-speaking attorneys for those seeking legal representation in Southern Ecuador.

Warm regards and appreciation for your continued efforts on behalf of your readers and subscribers.

On the subject of Vilcabamba  several readers sent me this notice for anyone planning on coming to Vilcabamba after July 2011: The nearest airport to Vilcabamba (Catamayo) will be closed from about July 2011 for one year or so, as a result of the runway needing a substantial upgrade.

This will make it more difficult or time-consuming to reach Vilcabamba, as you will need to travel overland from the next nearest airport, which is Cuenca. This overland trip is usually about 4 hours or so to Loja, which itself is then an hour by bus to Vilcabamba.

This means that once Catamayo Airport has closed for repairs, our clients will need to fly from Quito or Guayaquil (Ecuador’s two international entry points) to Cuenca … and then arrange a bus from there to Loja and onwards to Vilcabamba.

Joe Simonetta the developer in charge of the San Joaqin development sent me this note: Gary,  The best buy at Hacienda San Joaqin is a resale of property Q23R. It´s not mine. I’m selling it for the owner who is very motivated (he needs the funds). The property is listed here: http://www.vilcabambahomes.com/q23_slideshow.html

He had offered it at $330,000. One can buy it now for $260,000. It´s a riverfront property, 2.9 acres all flat and useable, with a very nice home. Thanks.   Best, Joe

Hacienda San Joaquín, is a 663-acre ranch, located in the Andes Mountains in southern Ecuador. The ranch is approximately two miles from Vilcabamba. The property is bordered and protected on three sides by the Andes Mountains and on the fourth by the Vilcabamba River.  See more at Hacienda San Joaquin.
